I've tried all sorts of things ( interior. colour, interior.colorIndex) but nothing gets the correct color.

Code Not Resetting Cell Color Back?
Jun 13, 2014VBA code in worksheet won't revert a changed cells color back to 0(white) after removing the comment.
Observations: code does set the desired cell colors to Yellow after inserting a comment, however removing said comment, and re-activating the worksheet does NOT reset the color after deactivating/re-activating the worksheet.

Mar 18, 2008I am using XP and Excel 2003 and I have a workbook that I currently back up to a remote server whenever closing out the book. This back-up copy becomes a "controlled document" that should not be used or changed once it is created. Is there anyway to make it save as a "Read Only" file, so that no one can modify the back-up copy.
Currently I do it manually, but that is becoming tiresome as well as when I forget that nice little error message pops up and....

ActiveX Textbox Back Color - Transparent
Jan 14, 2012Possible to set the BackColor of an ActiveX textbox to transparent? I have the BackStyle set to transparent, which is great since it will be transparent when not selected so you can see the color of the cell behind it, but once you select it to type in it, the BackColor overrides the cell behind it.
Right now, I have a sheet where the color of a cell changes to green if the textbox needs input from a user. If I have the BackColor set to white, the cell behind will change to green so the user knows they need to enter something in the textbox, but once they click the textbox, it goes white and may confuse them.
On the other hand, if I change the BackColor to green, it works great when the user clicks the correct textboxes, but if the user clicks the wrong textbox, it will 'incorrectly' turn green which may make the user believe they need to enter something in the textbox.
Searches Through A Range And Changes Back Color To Values
Feb 11, 2014I am doing a spread sheet for participation in a class. What I want is for whenever a student is absent, i.e. has a 0 in their point box for the day, that cell turns red. I have tried to make the .find method work but it has been uncooperative and so far and I can't seem to get it to even run. This is what I have so far:

Feb 3, 2008When I click a Command Button I want a label to change color FIRST and THEN a message box to appear.
I use the following code, but what happens is: FIRST, the message box appears and THEN the label changes color, which is the wrong order. The label needs to change color FIRST.

Reset Colors Back To Default Color Scheme
Mar 12, 2008I'm not sure what I have done but one of my workbooks colour scheme has changed. When viewing the workbook cells are now grey and the lies are a lighter grey. When printing though it prnts as it would normally ie a white backgorund. It looks like the viewing colours have been reversed and I can not find out how to revery back to normal.

Where each (i.e., A1) represents a location. I have tried to use a coordinate system but this will not work for the back-to-back locations. (Assuming each location is 2 feet wide, For example A1 to C1 is 4 feet apart, not 2 feet (as Euclidean or rectilinear would calculate it as).
Would there be a way to incorporate an if statement for those locations that are back-to-back? As a rectilinear distance calculation would work as long as the locations are not part of the same "block".
Ultimately I am looking to have a matrix which contains all the distances between each location:
A1
A2
A3
B1

File May Be Read-Only, Or You May Be Trying To Access A Read-Only Location
Jan 4, 2007I'm trying to open a file on a network drive...but I'm getting the following error message when it opens: "This file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or the server the document is stored on may not be responding." Now, the file itself has no rights restrictions and is not read only. It doesn't appear to be locked.
Now, there are other Excel files in the same directory which I could open fine; however, the Excel documents having the above problem all have a little black icon "appears to be a padlock" (image attached) at the bottom left hand side of the Excel file icon. I tried the following:
- Renaming
- Converting to a different file format (didn't work, it won't let me)
- Opening in notepad...etc doesn't work.
This file is dated back in 2004...do you think it's corrupt? Is there anything i can do to open or recover this?

when I am on a excel sheet I can not seem to move from quare to square qiththe arrow keys.
It just now takes me all the way to the left or all the way to the right and not from cell to cell from left to right.
I know its something rather simple yet I can not seem to figure this out.
I have no problem with this on 2003pro.

Aug 8, 2012I am trying to use VBA in Excel 2007 to change bar chart series colors. I have found a few posts that link it to a cell background, but I'm struggling to find one that does the font color.
It would be great if I could change the bar chart series to match the color of the text in the A column, so that if I highlighted the value in A1 and changed the text color to orange for whatever reason, the chart updates the value of 1.2 to an orange bar (see below).

Now, I loads of these textboxes that all need to run the same code with just the Offset value one digit higher than the last and I was hoping I could create a loop to avoid a huge block of code but I can't work out how to make a constant that will +1 with each loop.
Also, can I assume that a loop will start with the control with the lowest number i.e. Textbox1 and then work its way through the rest of them in order?

Nov 1, 2009This is probably elementary, but I'm struggling and would appreciate any help as I have very little excel VBA experience to draw from.
I have assembled code which changes the cell color based on a value change in Column A. Column A will contain many different groups of repeating values. This code works well and and I have been able to figure out how to limit the number of colors to only 2. The end result is each set of similar values in column A is visually grouped by one of two alternating colors.
The number rows in the data set is variable as the data set is extracted from SAP. The number of columns is fixed.
What I want to do now is set the cell color in columns B through F the same color that was assigned to the row in column A. So if cell A3 is set to colorindex = 6, then I want to set the range of cells B3 to E3 to the same color.
Here is the code I am using to set the color of the cells in Column A:

On the clicking of a button, Select and shade in a cell yellow, delete the yellow shading of the previous cell. The shading & selection should move up a column of cells, 1 at a time, in the following order:
From B10 to B9, then B9 to B8, B8 to B7 etc until the selection and shading is at B2. Once it is at B2 subsequent clicks will simply keep it at B2 (the top). Thus after 8 clicks the shading & selection should travel from B10 to B2, with only 1 cell being shaded yellow and selected at any one time.
