If I have a list with values in it that aren't numbers, how can I sum those individual values without filtering/sorting? For instance:
Letter
A
B
C
A
C
B
How can I get it to tell me,
Number of A's = 2
Number of B's = 2
Number of C's = 2
The Letters are dropdowns from a list.
I've tried IF and SUM statements but obviously I'm doing something wrong.
I have a table with numerous business units in column F. The business units are shown as a number. i.e. Business unit # 00007, 00041, etc. There are around 500 different business unit numbers. I have a list of 60 specific business units that I want separated, leaving a remainder of 440 others. I want these 440 other business units to stand out, ideally with conditional formatting.

So the data I put in Is Cells A to D the reast are calculated for me. so for example E2 is looking down column D to see if the number matches the number in A2, If any of them do it will put the name in the corresponding cell in E2 (Or you ca use a different cell if you prefer) so in this case D3=A2 so B3 is the answer also in the cell next to it I need whatever number is the cell next to the answer so in this case C3
1- I have a list full with numbers in a column. And I want to count how many digits are there in every cells. If digit of the number is less than 7, macro will complete it to 7 digits by adding 0 (zero) at the beginning of the number.
Example: A1 = 85468... A1 value is 5 < 7 in this case our number will be 0085468 (total 7 digits)
PS: sometime, when numbers start with 0 (zero), excel delete all 0 value at the beginning of the numbers. Macro should prevent this error.
2- I have another list with 2 columns which arranged in order. I mean:
A1=xx1, B1=xx2, A2=xx3, B2=xx4, A3=xx5, B3=xx6... etc. One is at A column, next number in B column.
My request is I want to make this list 1 column as arranged.
A1=xx1, A2= xx2, A3=xx3, A4=xx4... etc.
3- Macro will add a new line to the end of the above list with this format:
Z00001xxxx
Z00001 is static
xxxx is number of the full cells of A column plus 1. It will be 4 digits. If count is less than 4, it will complete it to 4 digits.
Example: if there are 15 cells in the list, last line will Z00010016 (15 + 1)

I have a table containing data for about 2000 ID numbers. Some of these numbers are unique and some are duplicates. I would like to convert the ID numbers into a consecutive list of integers while preserving the unique numbers. For example, if the first column of my table is currently:

I need to know which records (i.e. which rows of data) are from the same ID# but want to remove the actual ID#.
I have to create lists of data in the following format:

These numbers are sent to me in excel in columns and I need to convert the columns into rows using the format above.

currently I only get 10 numbers per row
I need at times for up to 500 numbers to be listed on a row. However even when I try to extend the formula it still only gives me 10 numbers per row and breaks up the 500 numbers to 10 per row.
Is there another way to combine up to 500 numbers in one row?
From a list of numbers I would like to delete values that have cents so only those transactions with a .00 amount are displayed

Only those valaues ending in .00 will list. I tried filtering but I think there most be a function(s) string that might work or at least filter out the values with cents
I have 2 lists and need replace the numbers in List 1 if they appear in List 2. If they do not match to list 2 then keep the number in List 1. I have attached a excel worksheet as an example. So cell B4 needs to be replaced by Amount in Cell F9. Also Cell B7 needs to be replaced by number in F5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use data validation to restrict the user to only selecting values in a list which I create. Right now, the list is a named range. I'd like to get rid of the range and just use a named list. I create a name using the following as my list.
Insert > Name > Create
Name: Fruit
Refers to:
banana,apple,orange
When I try to use the name Fruit in my data validation, I get the message "The List Source must be a delimited list, or a reference to single row or column." I thought my name "fruit" was a delimited list.
The function below should return the value in a cell IF the string in the cell two cells to the left of it is "Nemo" Omitting the part highlighted in blue, my function returns a list of unique values...but when it's included, nothing is returned at all. Perhaps, there is an error in the syntax that I'm overlooking?

I have some data with recurring key values and differing values in the second column, I need to produce a unique list of key values with the second values concatenated together.(See below)
The data can be 10 rows to 5000 and I can have anything from 5 to 150 sheets (Separate data sets), a macro would go a long way to keeping me sane.

My system is Windows 8 Excel 2010.
Sheet2 contains various data, including one column of dates.
What I would like to do is populate Sheet1 with functions that search Sheet2 for date values between two separate date values on Sheet1 (cells F1 and G1). When a match is found on Sheet2, row contents from Sheet2 should populate on Sheet1.
In addition, I would like the functions only to match listings in which the value in column E on Sheet2 is greater than zero.
I have attached a sample workbook that illustrates the structure of the worksheets and the desired results. Looking forward to finding a good solution.
1. Using a formula, I am trying to to obtain a list of unique values (string) (caveat: see #2) from the range E2:E10000 (arbitrarily chose 10000 - the row number is variable)(see #3).
I currently have a formula that seems to work for this purpose but I don't know how to add the condition in #2 (below)
2. To include all unique string values except those starting with the letters "IC"
3. Is there a way to make this formula so that it can only seek values up to the last row, and not go to the 10000th row if not necessary? The E column has no empty cells until after the last row that contains data.

I want to remove all workstation numbers and their information which are not present on the first list from the second list.
In the first w.orksheet each workstation number is in a seperate row, and in column one (seperate cells).
In the second worksheet, each workstation number and its corresponding information is on the same row, and each different workstation is on a seperate row with its information.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a drop down list which returns values based on what has been selected in the previous drop down list in the adjacent cell, e.g. if 'Apples' is selected in the previous cell then you should only be able to select from 'Gala, Granny Smith', or if 'Oranges' is selected you should only be able to select 'Seville, Blood Orange'. Is there a formula which would do this, or can I use a pivot table somehow? I'm totally stumped.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an excel spreadsheet that is several thousand entries long. There are cases in which duplicate entries will spring up on that list.
What I want to do is come up with a formula that will find the first duplicate entry in that list and then display that entry in cell on another worksheet. If it was at all possible, I would also like to have the row that the duplicate entry is contained on display as well, in a different cell of course.
I do not want to highlight them using conditional formatting since I have used that to perform other tasks on that sheet and that wouldn't display the entries in a different cell for me, and I would prefer not to use a macro to perform this function it that was at all avoidable.
I'm looking for way to create a list of sequenced numbers from value of two cells. I know I can drag manually from first cell till exact value, but it is not the best solution in my case.
