Does excel 2013 have a fence way to sort a list of alpha numeric numbers and alphabetize in this order A - Z and then 0 - 9.
Ex) Apple, Greg, Rob, Sand, 123, 126, 1000, 2001
Is it posible and how to create a list of barcodes from a list of numbers on the worksheet?
Strokescribe seems to have some ind of solution but the data can't come from the worksheet.
I am using excel 2013
I want a data validation drop down list, the list may expand or contract.
I created the list in cells on one sheet and control T to make them into a table
In data validation I selected the range of cells in that table
When I add to the list it does not show in the drop down list.
I have a list of dates and want to convert them to something like Monday 21st October instead of 21/10/13.

I am trying to write a macro that will sort 2 columns of real numbers in ascending order, then merge them in ascending order into a new 3rd column.

I clicked on a field in my RowLabels
I then clicked on the Filter Arrow for the RowField
The SelectedField prompted with the correct field of 4 possible fields
However the item I am looking for is not in the list but I can plainly see it on the screen.

I am using Excel 2013 on Windows 7. In the above example columns A & B is the given list to process, and Columns C & D contain the result I am trying to achieve. The major part of this that I am having trouble on combining, separating them with commas in another cell, and ignoring a duplicate value. You can see bill has two red values, but I only need it displayed once in column D.
Is there a way in Excel to have a list of names with values automatically re-sort whenever any of the values change.
The default sort I have in mind is ascending by values.
E.g.
CITY VALUE
Sydney 100
Boston 200
London 300
Moscow 400
Houston 500
The values change to:
Sydney 5000
Boston 250
London 8000
Moscow 300
Houston 50
I now want Houston 1st, Boston 2nd etc - automatically - without me having to do a sort again by Value.

I'm making a Excel 2013 spreadsheet that has formula in a column that auto enters a number 1-40 when something is entered to the left of that cell. There are 300 rows in the spreadsheet. I would like to make a drop down list in a column cell to the right that would delete that number in that cell from the drop down list. For example cell C1 has 39, that 39 then is deleted from the drop down list. C2 has 22 in it, click on the drop down list cell and it shows 1-40 less 39 and 22.

Column 3 is just a ranking from 1-30. So I select all the data in columns 1 and 2 and hit sort from largest to smallest and it looks like excel computes, but nothing changes and it doesn't sort from largest to smallest? A
I am currently using Excel 2013 inside of Windows 7.
I have 3 different data sets and in each data set the only unique identifier is the card number. I currently have to manually sort each of these fields because of the different variables in each data set. My overall goal is to align every user across each row so I can verify whatever status I have for the Card # in the first data set is the same across the other data sets. Is it possible this process can be automated by using a VBA macro that sorts, aligns and leaves empty spots when needed. Once again the only unique identifier that matches across all data sets is the Card #.

What I want to do is rank both the top and bottom of a list.
I know how to rank but unfortunately the bottom will be changing (i.e.: the table size may change from month to month and this is where I have a problem.
I am ranking a table, then doing a lookup on the list to return other values based on the ranking.
What excel formula can I use to ensure I get the bottom 5 if the list length/table size is changing from month to month?
(Please note - I need to do this in excel - not as excel VBA)
I'm trying to create a staff rota which will populate a rota randomly when prompted - I have been trying to find some way of connecting the random lists and the staff names, though this has proved difficult (to say the least!). How best to proceed? I'm also fully aware of the possibility that my present design will also double book people (place then on reception and telephone duty simultaneously).

So the data I put in Is Cells A to D the reast are calculated for me. so for example E2 is looking down column D to see if the number matches the number in A2, If any of them do it will put the name in the corresponding cell in E2 (Or you ca use a different cell if you prefer) so in this case D3=A2 so B3 is the answer also in the cell next to it I need whatever number is the cell next to the answer so in this case C3
1- I have a list full with numbers in a column. And I want to count how many digits are there in every cells. If digit of the number is less than 7, macro will complete it to 7 digits by adding 0 (zero) at the beginning of the number.
Example: A1 = 85468... A1 value is 5 < 7 in this case our number will be 0085468 (total 7 digits)
PS: sometime, when numbers start with 0 (zero), excel delete all 0 value at the beginning of the numbers. Macro should prevent this error.
2- I have another list with 2 columns which arranged in order. I mean:
A1=xx1, B1=xx2, A2=xx3, B2=xx4, A3=xx5, B3=xx6... etc. One is at A column, next number in B column.
My request is I want to make this list 1 column as arranged.
A1=xx1, A2= xx2, A3=xx3, A4=xx4... etc.
3- Macro will add a new line to the end of the above list with this format:
Z00001xxxx
Z00001 is static
xxxx is number of the full cells of A column plus 1. It will be 4 digits. If count is less than 4, it will complete it to 4 digits.
Example: if there are 15 cells in the list, last line will Z00010016 (15 + 1)
Using Excel 2007, I have a very simple spreadsheet made up of only two worksheets that I am using to track the songs played by a band during a current tour.
One worksheet is called "Summary" and the other is called "Setlists". In the Setlists worksheet I list every show played (10 shows so far), and every song played from each show. In the Summary worksheet I have very song listed that has been played during the tour in one column (A), then the number of times that song has been played in another column (B). Column B, the number of times each song has been played, is populated by a COUNTIF function that looks at the Setlists worksheet and counts each instance of each song.
What I want to do, very simply, is to sort on column B in order to display the list of songs from the most played to least played. That is where I run into a problem. When I sort my list of numbers, I end up with a seemingly random list that certainly isn't from most to least and I can't figure out why.
Is it possible that the COUNTIF function which populates that column of numbers is somehow throwing off the sort?
Let me see if I can explain my question in an understandable fashion....
I have a table containing data for about 2000 ID numbers. Some of these numbers are unique and some are duplicates. I would like to convert the ID numbers into a consecutive list of integers while preserving the unique numbers. For example, if the first column of my table is currently:

I would like to change that to something like:

I need to know which records (i.e. which rows of data) are from the same ID# but want to remove the actual ID#.
I have two problems sort of rolled into one. I have a spreadsheet with a list of skills to perform in cells a2:z2. Under those I put in dates where those skills are performed so a3:a100 , b3:b100 and so on. At the moment I have the these dates populating another sheet with the list of skills going a2:a200 and the dates in b2:b200.
Annoyingly I have been asked set it up so it inputs the other way so my problems are: The skills in the second sheet are in a different order than in the first sheet so its not a straight correlation between the two so I would need to search for the title and match it to the second sheet. Then the second problem is as the will be numerous entries I need to find the next available space in the first sheet. So can you add data at the bottom of a list??
I have a large flat hierarchy table. I am looking for a method to select a parent and return a list of my lowest level children. I am somewhat familiar with VBA but I don't know where to begin coding this.

I have one sheet with a large list of dates and total prices.
I have a second sheet with a list of dates and unit prices.
I want to divide the total price in my first list by the unit price on my second list.
I want to somehow point Excel to the date in the first list, and then lookup the corresponding date in the second list to use the correct unit price.
My thoughts thus far have been along using VLOOKUP with WEEKNUM and YEAR but I've been unsuccessful.
I have a List of Different Fruits in Cells A1 to A5
Apple
Banana
Orange
Strawberry
Cherry
And I use data validation list in 5 different cells from Cells C1 to C5 then in every cell the list will show all the fruits,
But I want that if I select Any Fruit in cell C1 that should not be included in the remaining 4 cells, and the fruits selected in Cells C1 and Cell C2 should not be included in the remaining 3 cells and so on....
I Used the formula
=IF(C1=A1,OFFSET(A2,,,COUNTA($A$2:$A$5),1),0)
But this works fine if I select Apple in the Cell C1, then the List of C2 Shows all Fruits other than Apple, But if in Cell C1 I select any fruit other than Apple it does not work... (Using Excel2007 & Win XP)

I have 2 lists and need replace the numbers in List 1 if they appear in List 2. If they do not match to list 2 then keep the number in List 1. I have attached a excel worksheet as an example. So cell B4 needs to be replaced by Amount in Cell F9. Also Cell B7 needs to be replaced by number in F5.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a time column (A) that when looked in the cell only shows AM & PM times, but the cell itself (not showing) contains dates too, keeping me from be able to do a sheet wide sort of time or time frame occurrences.
Can I do some thing to sort these cells with their corresponding rows based on time only disregarding dates?
