Adding Month Names Not Numbers

I have this macro (below) which produces the the date on a file name when I update it every month. However, I would like it to show a different version of the date and in a different location.

At present it produces the following (example):

Ice_Cream_Report_Month_07-02

What I would like is:

Ice_Cream_Report_Month_Feb07 (or even Feb-07 would be fine)

Converting Month Numbers To Month Names For Pivots

My data sheet has a Month column, and those months are simply numbers one to twelve. They are formatted as plain old numbers. The data is coming from somewhere outside Excel.

How the numbers look in the data sheet doesn't matter. But I use this data to generate pivots, wherein the months are the columns. I want it to say Jan, Feb, etc. across the top of the pivot.

I realize that I could just loop through the raw data and convert the numbers to text. However, I want the pivot table to recognize this data as dates, so that I can do date-related stuff, such as the date grouping described on p. 85 of Jelen's Pivot Table Data Crunching book.

If I go into the raw data and try to convert the cells to the mmm format, they all convert to January.

I'm aware that formatting doesn't translate from raw data to pivot table anyhow. But it's not clear to me how I can use the date field grouping functions without somehow showing Excel that these are dates. Or is the pivot table smart enough to realize that just by the names, even if they are formatted as text?

Adding Or Subtracting One Month To A Month Number

I have forumlas that will look at this cell and take action of the month in a different cell is either 1 month greater (Frontmonth+1) or less (Frontmonth-1) than "Frontmonth". As we approach December I'm realizing that logic will breadown since the FrontMonth+1 would be 13, not 1 (January)

Is there a way to get excel to add 1 month to just the month number so that if Frontmonth = 12, Frontmonth+1 would return 1, not 13?

Extracting Month Names

I need to extract the month name from a cell. E.g In one cell I have a time stamp, which comes up in this formart.

Cell A1 is "5/30/2007 10:03:37 AM". Basically i want cell B2 to say "May". Please note this format is using the american date format where the order is month/date/year.

Is there a way to do this? Remember one cannot look at just the first digit as what happens for months 10 & above? At the moment I do this manually.

Fill Combobox With Month Names

I will preface with what I am trying to do. I want to populate a combo box with months. The list will be populated based on a the date range in a dataset, so all 12 months may not bee populated in the combo box. I want the months to be listed in the combo box with their text names displayed(Jan, Feb... Dec) but have their numerical values when selected (1,2... 12). I'm sure there is a way to do this, but for the life of me I can't find how. My initial thought was to assign a value to a specific list index, i.e. assign the value of listindex 6 as "Jun", but I can't figure out the syntax to do that.

This doesn't work, but might give some insight into what I am trying to do

form.combobox.ListIndex(6) = "Jun"

Count Occurance Of Names By Month

I've been trying to solve this problem all afternoon and evening but cannot think how to do it. I'm a basic (very) VBA user and the best I could come up with is below.

I have a sheet called Data. In column A I have names, and in column B I have dates (day, month and year).

What I am trying to do is to filter the unique names that occur during the selected month and year (day is irrelevant) and then count the number of times that name appears in the selected time period.

This is what I have so far, but it's not working at all!

Formula For Adding 1 Month

I'm making a basic spreadsheet that has to calculate monthly due dates for 'reviews' based on an initial start date.

im using:

=DATE(YEAR(A1),MONTH(A1)+1,DAY(A1))

.... i know thats probably dead simple to you guys!

which works fine.. except when it comes to times when the start date is for example 31 january, so the sequence goes:

31 jan....... 03 March.... 31 march

and my problem is i need 1 review in each calendar month, so i need to tell that 03 March to be 28 Feb instead.

Adding Data From Specific Names

I have a sheet that has the same employee names several times in different orders in the same column with data to the right of it. Example

Name.......Pieces...hrs
.....A........B........C
(1)John...1000......12
(2).........2000......20
(3)Jay.....2000......31
(4).........2500.....20
(5)John...2000.....50
(6).........5000.....60
(7)Bill......1200.....40
(8)..........3000.....60

I need the peices and hours total for each name on another sheet. So I would have John on my sheet and would need to to grab and add the info from B2 & B6 into one cell (since it is the same person). I can always drag the info over for hours once I find a way to do this for the pieces I would think. The problem is that I don't want to add in B1 & B2 for John because those numbers are not a part of the total.

So is there a way or formula for one cell to look at the entire sheet and everytime it sees the name john to add the information one column over and one cell down and then give a total?

I may be able to do some formatting and have all the info I need directly to the right. So I would have (A1) John, (B1) Data, (C1) Data. The issue would be a cell finding the name, taking the information directly to the right of it and adding it as many times as the name is found on the sheet.

Adding Exactly 1 Month To Initial Date

I have a date on the top left hand corner of my excel sheet. I want to add exactly one month to that date in a vertical list (without using micros)

Example:

PS: I tried adding 30 (or a similar number like 29). It works but not if I want a large list of dates, which is what I want.

In the workbook the sheet names are month names e.g. july,august,September etc and 1st of each month is to be entered in a cell in each the sheets. By some trial and error I wrote this macro

VB:

This worked in July sheet it is written as 7/1/2013 and in august sheet it is 8/1/2013 etc Then I shortened the macro like thlis

dte = "july" & "/1/2013"
Range("A1") = dte
End Sub

It worked. Even if I use shortened 3 letter form of month like "Jul" or "aug" then also it works

But if type on the spreadsheet itself
="july"/1/2013
It Gives value error.

Perhaps it works only in vba and not spreadsheet.

I accept nobody is going to use "july" & "/1/2013" instead of 7/1/2013 But this will be useful if sheet names are month names so that when we write the date we can use sheet names Mine excel 2007 and windows 7.

My problem is when I refer to the first worksheet from the second worksheet it shows blanks where there are no names. For example i want the second sheet [ LOC ] to show the names that appear under Truck #1, #2, #3, #4 - but truck #1 may not always have names under it?

I have a few dozen pictures created when a macro runs. They all have unique names. I'd like to add comments to cells, where the cell.value decides which picture to pull. All the examples I've found online show how to do this if you have pictures saved on your hard drive by referencing the file path "c://mydocs/...blahblah/"

Is there a way to reference the pictures I've created/named with my macro?

Totaling Numbers By Names

The output of my magic spreadsheet, developed to run the local flower show, is a column of names - each of which have won a prize valued in points. I need to determine which person in the list of names has won the most points in total, in order to award a trophy.

Actually, I also need to know how many points each individual has got because - as we all know - points make prizes. And I need to write out one prize voucher for each individual, to the total value of what they won.

Now I have been sorting each column alphabetically, then manually totting up the points, and adding the three totals together. But surely, there must be a way to do this automatically? I don't really want to have to sort the columns at all... just have the answers appear like magic once the data is in the data entry part of the sheet.

Here's an example:

1ST PRIZE
NAME
VALUE
2ND PRIZE
