Auto Date And Time In A Macro

Nov 11, 2008

There is a standard Excel macro to add the current date and time to a spreadsheet. But how do you add those to another macro and have them populate the date and time as of when activate the second macro? I have the following code (only the part that is applicable for this question):

Macro To Auto-populate Date And Time In Text Format

Jun 7, 2012

I think there's a way to use Excel to automatically create a 5-day calendar. Maybe a macro?

The date format must be dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm and it must be in text format. If its June 9, 2012 at 6pm - the correct format is: 12/06/2012 18:00

I want to post 5 times a day: 09:05, 9:55, 10:45, 16:55 and 18:00.

Column A is where the date and time goes. Ideally, I'd enter in A1 the start date and then run a macro that would automatically populate the next 5 consecutive days with the specific times above (so 25 rows total in column A).

I have to save the file as a csv file, so the date and time format has to be in text or I'll get an upload error in Hootsuite.

Auto Date & Time Stamp

I am having a very difficult time making this work, if there is anyone who can assist me, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. You can see below what I am trying to do. The entries between the last cells H,3 & K,3 just contain data that is not affected by the rest of the sheet functions.

Cell one (A,3) has a drop down menu for vehicle status.
(B,3) vehicle number
(C,3) Drop down vehicle type.
(D,3) is for dept.
(E,3) Date/Time stamp auto generated from (A,3) entry. (Vehicle Status)
(F,3) is POC.
(G,3) Phone/email.
(H,3) Date & Time stamp out of shop. (This cell will recieve the date & Time Stamp from entry of work done in (K,3)

Auto Insert System Date & Time

Nov 17, 2009

I am currently using Excel 2007 and I am looking for an easier way to enter the system date and time into a cell. I am aware of the MS-Excel shortcuts but work in an environment where data capturers still often get it wrong.

Is it possible to use a Excel function/button to auto insert the system date and time by clicking on a cell/button or Alternatively use a calendar to do so.

Auto Fill Non-changing Date&time When Cells Change

Apr 17, 2007

Let's say I have column C blank, but every time it's filled in with something I want column A to be today's date and B to be current time. Unfortunately, the functions NOW() and TODAY() don't give me what I want. They get recalculated every time that I update the spreadsheet.
Another thing that I can do is just press ctrl+shift+; to generate a non changing date/time, but I want it to happen automatically (being super lazy).

Auto Run Macro Every X Minutes Or Time Specified In Cell

Sep 23, 2008

The below seems to work but I'm wondering if there might be a better way. I'm trying to keep an ongoing up-to- date and accurate time. my code is as follows:

Private Sub Workbook_Open() ' placed inside thisworkbook
Call TimeUp
End Sub

Sub UpdateTime() ' placed in module
If Range("A4") = TimeValue("00:00:00") Then
Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("00:01:00"), "TimeUp"
Else
UpdateTime2
End If
End Sub

Sub TimeUp()
[a1] = Time
UpdateTime
End Sub

Sub UpdateTime2()
[a1] = Time
Application.OnTime Now + Range("A4").Value, "TimeUp"
End Sub

Does anyone know if there is any way to improve the Code or formulas within the Cells?

Date/Time Formula: Pick Up A Date With Time Entry On A Worksheet And Place It Into A TextBox On A UserForm

Jun 17, 2006

I am attempting to pick up a date with time entry on a worksheet and place it into a TextBox on a UserForm. Format on the sheet is mm/dd/yyyy h:mm AM/PM. The UserForm is placing the value as mm/dd/yyyy 12:00 AM. here is the

Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
If Not Range("dDate").Value = "" Then
TextBox2.Value = Range("dDate").Value
TextBox2.Text = Format(DateValue(TextBox2.Text), "mm/dd/yy h:mm AM/PM")
Else
TextBox2.Value = ""
TextBox2.SetFocus
End If
End Sub

"dDate" is the named range where the date is sitting. The format is also set on the TextBox2 exit event. Can anyone see why only the date portion is being transfered with the default 12:00 AM for no time component of the value?

Convert Imported Date / Time Data To Date / Time Format?

Jan 2, 2013

I have loaded a .csv file in which the first column contains date/times, e.g. 01/12/2012 00:00. How do I now tell Excel (2010) that this is in fact a date/time format? If I select one or more of the cells, click on the Number dialog box launcher and try to pick a suitable format tghe cells resolutely refuse to budge from being text (i.e. left-justified, still allows me to edit the 'seconds' component to a number > 60). Also which data type should I be using? The only one that appears to have a full date/time format listed is Custom (not Date or Time).

Macro For Date And Time Stamp - Linked To Button

Dec 28, 2011

In my job, my team have to take phone-calls from stores asking various questions. In order to combat this, I have set up a call tracker to see where the calls are coming from (so we can beat them with a stick). I have asked my colleagues to record the date and time of the calls.

I need a big button at the top of the page that says 'New Call'. Then, when this button is pressed, the time and date stamp will automatically be put into cell A3, then when pressed again a4, and again a5... and so on.

I am struggling with the following:

-Using CTRL + Shift + : to input the date/time on a macro inputs the date I made the macro, not the date/time the button is pressed!
-I can only get the date to go in cell A2 - If I press it again, nothing happens. how to do this, or just do it for me

Macro To Recognize Date That Is 48 Hours Before Current Time

Feb 15, 2012

I have a spreadsheet that contains a list of names/numbers/dates and I have to manually go through the list each day highlighting the row if it contains a date that is more than 48 hours old. How to accomplish this in a macro? Example:

Name.......Phone Number:......Ticket Number......Date Added
xxxx........555-555-5555...........5555555............2/12/12
xxxx........444-444-4444...........4444444............2/15/12
xxxx........123-456-7890...........1234567............2/10/12

That is the layout of the spreadsheet so I would have to manually highlight rows 2 and 4 because the date in Column D is greater than 48 hours ago. The range is A1:D25 and the cells are changed/updated daily.

Seperate Date From Time In Cell Macro Code

May 20, 2008

I have cells in a column that record time in date. Unformatted it would appear as 19789.51407 but formatted to show time and date it would as appear as 3/6/54 12:20 PM. I am making graphs with the data and I want the title of my x axis to read "GMT Time (mm/dd/yyyy - mm/dd/yyyy)" or "GMT Time (mm/dd/yyyy)" depending on if the event spans more then one day. Using the following code, it almost accomplishes this.

Dim strDate As String
Range("CO3").Value = Range("A3").Value
Range("CP3").Value = Range("A" & Drag).Value
Range("CO3:CP3").NumberFormat = "m/d/yyyy"
If Range("CO3").Value = Range("CP3").Value Then
strDate = "GMT Time (" & Range("CO3") & ")"
Else
If Range("CO3").Value < Range("CP3").Value Then
strDate = "GMT Time (" & Range("CO3") & " - " & Range("CP3") & ")"
End If
End If

Where "Drag" is a variable that signifies the total number of cells in the column; ie the first and last dates. It compares the values and saves the results as a string. The problem is that when the string is saved it saves the date in mm/dd/yyyy hh/mm/ss. How can i separate the date from the time so I can have the title of my x axis appear as i need them?

Converting Text Date And Time To Serial Date And Time

Feb 21, 2013

I import data from a program that exports dates and times as text. I have been successful using "text to columns" to separate the time from the date and then using =text(A1,"00:00")+0 to get the time to show as serial time but I'd love to be able to do the whole date/time string in one step. In cell A1 there is data that is general format and is in this format:

01/01/13 00001

No matter how you try to format it, it is not a date or time. For this project I need the serial number for the date/time. Any formula that will format it as date/time and then allow it to show as a serial date/time?

Auto Open Macro To Find Correct Week Tab & Day/date In 52 Week Worksheets

Jan 19, 2010

I am new to VBA & not sure of the full understanding of code copied from a workbook which worked on the same principle but with Monthly (12) tabs. I thought if modified to show weeks, the macro would be able to locate the current week tab & day/date within - but upon opening, the cell stops at WK19 & column O - rather than WK43, Column N (which changes daily).

week(2) = "WK2"

Excel 2013 :: Extract Date And Time Info From A Text Cell That Contains Text And Date And Time

Jul 19, 2014

I am using Excel 2013. Anyway, the first issue is that I need to pull a date and a time period from text. So, for example, if I see something like Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM, I would want to pull ONLY the "7/6/14 8:37PM" out of it. Each text box could potentially be different, so it might not always be in the same format as "Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM" it might only show just the date and/or the time without all the extra text i.e. 7/6/14 8:37PM. Some of the cells will have text, others might only have just the time or even just the date and the time. The only thing that I am worrying about in each cell is extracting just the date and time. If this is too much to ask of excel, I would be ok with extracting ONLY the time - 8:37PM and not the date, but I would much rather be able to get both the time and date.

THEN, onto part two of my question. After I would pull the dates and times, I need to compare them with each other. So, when I have the same date with two separate times on that date, I need to write a formula to show if those times on that date are less than 30 minutes apart. So, if I have 6 times on 7/6/14, I need to know if any of them are less than 30 minutes apart.

I would need to have the formula say something like "Problem" if the times on 7/6/14 would be 5:30PM, 5:48PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, 8:15PM, and 9:00Pm for example. I would like to see the word "Problem" since 5:30PM and 5:48Pm is only 18 minutes apart, and "Problem" after 8:15PM since that is only 15 minutes past the 8:00PM which is obviously under 30 minutes. The times that are more than 30 minutes apart such as 7:00PM and 9:00PM for example are more than 30 minutes apart from any of the other times that were extracted.

Format Date & Time To Show Day, Date & Time

May 21, 2008

I have a sheet with a list of dates in it that I wish to format to show the day as well as date and time. I am trying to do this automatically with a macro, below is the before and the desired after.

Before
Format - dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm
Appearance - 29/03/2009 00:30

After
Format - ddd dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm
Appearance - Sun 29/03/2009 00:30

This works fine when I format the cells manually, but when I try to format them via macro '29/03/2009 00:30' becomes 'Sun 29/03/2009 12:30' which is obviously a totally different time! Has anyone got ay idea why it might be doing this?

Lookup Sunset Time Based Onrecord Date - Incorrect Time Calculated

Mar 22, 2012

Consider this code:

'light eligibility
Dim facb As String
Dim sunset As Variant
[color=green]' check if facility has lights[color]
facb = WorksheetFunction.VLookup(RID, ds, 10, False) 'find facility code
If WorksheetFunction.VLookup(facb, fac, 6, False) = "Y" Then 'facility has lights
sunset = WorksheetFunction.VLookup(tempws.Range("A9"), sun, 2, False) 'lookup the sunset time based on the record's date

[Code] ......

This code checks the need for lights at a facility.

It first checks to see if the facility even has lights by cross-referencing a value in the record with a facilities database.

If it has lights, it then checks to see if they are needed. If the rental goes past the sunset time, then it needs lights. Sunset is determined by cross-referencing the date value in sheet1! A9, with the sunset database.

If it needs lights, variable lghtson is calculated equal to "sunset"-30 minutes.

As I step through this code:

WorksheetFunction.VLookup(facb, fac, 6, False) = "Y" Facility has lights.
Check to see if lights are needed.
sunset = WorksheetFunction.VLookup(tempws.Range("A9"), sun, 2, False)
sunset=0.879166666666667 which is 9:06PM. This is a proper value from the lookup.
If rental_end.value > sunset Then
rental_end (value from textbox) = "9:30 pm" , sunset=0.879166666666667. This is true, and Excel accepts it as true ...
lghtson = sunset - 0.5
0.379166666666667 = 0.879166666666667 - 0.5 (9:06 AM)

This is not the value I was looking for. I was looking for 8:34PM (0.856944444444444)
