Auto Populate Cell With Static Date As Another Cell Is Populated

I have used the following =IF(ISBLANK(Q6),"",(NOW())) & =IF(ISBLANK(Q6),"",(Today())),
but when the excel file is closed and opened the date changes to now or today. How can I make the date stay and not change?

I am trying to make a date auto populate when an entry is made into a specific cell.
Context:
Cell H has a drop down list of staff names who will be assigned to a project, once a name is selected from the drop down box:
Cell I needs to auto-display that days date
is this possible with just a simple formula?

How can I add a date stamp that will populate a field when text is entered into another cell but will not change every time I re-open the sheet. I have been using =if(B4="",NOW()) which changes each time though and as soon as text is entered it disappears. I want to capture the actual date that someone enters text into a cell and save that date in another cell???

Need formula for populate a cell with a date. I have a workbook with 5 sheets (mon, tues, wed, thur, fri) and I'd like to type a date on mondays sheet so all the other sheets follow on the date ie:
Noverber 1st 2008 is typed into sheet 1: A1, sheet 2 automatically displays November 2nd 2008, sheet 3 displays November 3rd, etc..
I know it's basic progression, but I'm not sure how to do it with date/text...

I have a workbook template that will have multiple tabs. I would like to have it that when you open this workbook the date populates in A1 for each tab and is static. At that point they can save with another name leaving the template intact so when you open it again (on another day) it will populate with the current date. Is this possible and if so how?

I have been searching for hours trying to find a solution to no avail. What I need to do is make sure that when I press a button on a form, the value in a combo-box should be populated as "text format" not as a number. The reason for this is that when my numbers start with a 0, the leading zero gets dropped and I can't run the rest of my code as the items don't match...
I have tried substituting the "Value" to "text" in : Me.cboItem.value and have tried for hours trying to name dim variables as a String and pass this into the cboItem...with no luck...

what type of vba code I could use to populate a static date and time that I could plug into a formula. Basically what I need is:
IF A1<>"" then L1 shows the date and time of the entry. If A1="" then L1 remains blank. I don't want the date to change once it has been entered.

What I am wanting to do is have excel insert a static date automatically. I know ctrl + : inserts date and ctrl shft + ; inserts time. I want excel to do this automatically. The now() and today() functions auto update the date. I dont want the date auto updated when the file is reopened after it is saved. The file is a template so I guess what I am really wanting is a automatic date/time stamp when the user saves the file so when it is emailed and reopened the date does not auto update.

I have a user form that when a command button is clicked it enters the data from the from into coloums a,b,c,etc. I have code to do this but I want to add code to add a static date in coloum B based on if coloum A had data entered from the form. I am not sure whether this can happen, I want to capture time taken for different activities, without manually entering the details.I tried the formula "=Now()", but what happens is that at the end of the day the times are all the same because the live time is changing. Is there a way where the live time is captured and freezed, so that at the end of the day i have a time log sheet.

What I need is lets say I have 3 columns Name, Date & Time
Name field has a drop down menu having a list of names
Now what I need is - lets say from the dropdown menu someone selects a name - THEN at the same instance the Time & Date fields gets populated with the Date & Time of that update.
and that Date & Time shouldn’t change if someone selects the same or different name in the row below

I belive i have a simple date stamp problem, but i do not know the correct VBA to edit the code posted below. I would like to have a datestamp placed in an adjacent cell based upon a particular value. For instance, If Cancel is entered into cell a2, then b2 would gave the date stamp. or if Started was entered into a2, then c2 would have the date stamp.

Any way where is a list of cells (b3:b113) has text entered, or specific text entered, it will enter a static cell in the corresponding "d" column.
I know of CTRL + ; but i don't really know how to get it to work as a macro, can't find a forumla that enters the static date, and i don't want to make a macro to copy + paste special the date when it happens.
So all i should have to do is entered text in column b, then it will add a time stamp, when that text was entered, it doesn't have to update.
Like all i need is this, but instead of the "now()" function, it will have another function that doesn't automatically update?

I want to put a permanent date & time stamp in cell A1 (date) and cell A2 (Time) when cell A3 is populated by any character which would be an inputters initials.
I'm thinking that it will be an "IF" statement but then I am getting confused about how I make it not update when the spreadsheet is opened at a later date and time.

I am now trying to create a excel macro to auto populate all the dates with reference to a start date and end date. The catch is that only working days are required in the range. My reference cells (start and end date) are in Sheet 1 while the destination cell range are in Sheet 2. The reason for creating a macro instead of a function is that the intervals between the start date and end date changes frequently (annual, semi-annual and quarterly) Best case scenario would be a button which I can just press after i input the dates to generate the range of dates in another sheet.

I would like to enter a name in E11, and then have G11 populate the name of the company that person belongs to, from a different sheet.
If the person is new, the company name entered into G11 should create a new column on the Companies sheet.
I've attached a dummy sheet which should make it more clear.

here is a formula i would like in cell D20 (might not be a formula out there,maybe more code)
if cell C20= "S" then text in Cell D20= "SHOP" (then will be able to type after "SHOP")
if cell C20="F" then text in Cell D20="Field" (then will be able to type after "Field")
I have many facters (15 to be exact) that I would like to do this in the range of D20:D38

I am trying to auto populate into a column that starts in cell E5 and references cell C5 (along with a dataset in N and O). In cell E6, I copied and pasted this formula and changed all of the C5 values to C6. When trying to use the auto populate cross hair tool, excel changes all N and O cells, from O165 to O166, O167 when they should have remained O165 and N165 for every cell.

Every time a name is selected in column C12:C15, I need that respective row to populate with $10 in column J. When column C12:C15 is blank, I need that respective row to read $0 in cloumn J. It's either one (10) or the other (0).
There are rows above and below it as well that have nothing to do with this, so the formula/function would be specific to just this subset of rows (rows 12-15).
I get close, but can't seem to nail this simple formula/function down. I am unable to download any sheets due to my work's firewall.

I'm creating a configuration tool for instrumentation that has several options. Many of these options are dependent on one another. To summarize, I need to:
*Conditionally lock cells (and populate with "N/A") OR allow selection from drop down list - the list exists, it's the locking and auto-population I'm struggling with
Example: If A1 = No, then B1 = "N/A" and is locked, else allow selection from drop down list in B1

The attached workbook requires users to enter a date on the SAT sheet (B3). I would like that date to always represent Saturday (the first day of our work week) Is there a formula I can use to validate if the date entered by the user corrleates to Saturday or is there a way to auto-populate the workbook with the Saturday's date?

I am trying to have the calendar in the second tab of the attached excel file to auto populate based on info in the first tab.
In the first tab, there is the start and end dates of certain projects. The calendar will need to only show the project name of every project being worked on that specific day.
Some days will have more than one project being worked on, the Calendar will just need to list them all under that day. The Start and End dates count as days the project being worked on as well. We will also need the calendar to auto update whenever we modify the dates in the first tab or add/remove projects (rows).

I think there's a way to use Excel to automatically create a 5-day calendar. Maybe a macro?
The date format must be dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm and it must be in text format. If its June 9, 2012 at 6pm - the correct format is: 12/06/2012 18:00
I want to post 5 times a day: 09:05, 9:55, 10:45, 16:55 and 18:00.
Column A is where the date and time goes. Ideally, I'd enter in A1 the start date and then run a macro that would automatically populate the next 5 consecutive days with the specific times above (so 25 rows total in column A).
I have to save the file as a csv file, so the date and time format has to be in text or I'll get an upload error in Hootsuite.

I am trying to get excel to auto populate the current date and time each time I make an entry, however, each time i make an additional entry the current date and time populates but it changes all the prior entry's with that current date and time.I am trying to keep a log of all the times I make a new entry. I'm trying to work out how to have cells R11 - Rxx generate the correct date, based on the rest of the calculations.
Please note that the attached is a crude cut down version of the larger spreadsheet, for the purpose of highlighting my problem.
SO, if E7 is changed, subsequently the values in K11:Rxx will be respectively updated.
D12 and G12 are entered manually. (although I'll probably make these drop downs or date choosers at some point...)
Depending on the value in E7 and time in D12, the required break period is listed in K11: Kxx.
The time that these periods of rest are required to occur before is then calculated and listed in O11:Oxx.
I need R11:Rxx to calculated the appropriate date from these calculations, relative to the date in G12.
For example, the rest required in K11, is required on the same day, as such it need to populate with the value in G12.
However the rest required in K13:Kxx, is required by a time (O13:Oxx) on the following day - G12+1
In some case, this time variance could run over 2 or more days.
I figure it's got something to do with the value in D12 also including the date of 0/1/1900.
I'm happy to add hidden cells for formulas/results to work around it, as the end product will print as an A4 document, where many cells will be locked.
Would prefer not go with any VBA unless it's my only option as I haven't done any VBA stuff as yet.
NB (the value in P5 is static only in this example)
