Auto Populate Data Values Based On Dependence Of Two Drop-down Lists?
Feb 1, 2013
I am trying to create an easy fill spreadsheet for a game. I am looking to have data values auto fill based off of the entry of 2 prior drop down menus.
I would like to have values for "Move", "Str", "Spd", "Skill", "Armor", and "Value" auto populate after the "Race" and "Role" has been selected. Data for these auto fills I have put on Sheet2 while the main file itself is on Sheet1.
If possible I would like to have Value increase by 5 for every level in "Rank" on the sheet.
I was wondering if there was some way to auto update or resync values in data validated lists which are dependant on information in other cells.
I attach my spreadsheet. My list in Cell F32 changes depending on what has been selected in cell F31. However, my problem is that, until you select cell F32, it still keeps the previous value on display, if you know what I mean. So! What I would like to happen, is when I select a different option in cell F31, then I would like cell F32 to update and show the first available option from the new list?
I am trying to auto generate a calendar based on two drop down menus - Month and Year.
Once the month and year is selected I want to import all work orders onto the calendar based first on the "Labor Name" found in the list of work tab, then assign each work order for that labor name to the respective date on the calendar for the month.
A B C 4.5 9.50 4.657 4.5 11.60 4.789 4.5 12.50 4.654 4.5 13.50 3.930 4.5 15.20 3.826
I need to be able to auto-populate the cell in column G based on values in columns A & B. If I type 4.5 in E2, and 13.50 in F2, G2 should auto-populate with the value from column C
I have 4 sheets: 1 called main 1 called states 1 called counties 1 called people
On "main" I have 1 drop down box and 1 cell:
the drop down lists the states from "states" sheet the cell, which i would like to have as a drop down is supposed to be listing the counties in the state selected from the 1st drop down. right now it is setting the value to TRUE for testing purposes.
then when the county is selected, it will display the people in that county listed in "people". So far I can only get the 1st drop down to list the states. that's the easy part. i need to getting the counties to list in another drop down based on what state is selected.
Im a fairly basic VBA user who has just purchased the code for J-Walk's Enhanced Data Form.
On other threads in this forum I have noticed a lot of people asking how to make the contents of one drop-down box dependant on the selection in another. I am trying to do the same thing but with the criteria section of the EDF form.
Is this possible? What does give me hope is that a simple Autofilter - whilst not as aesthetically pleasing, does the job well.
Currently I have columns fixed or assigned to the names of insurance providers/companies.
In each column below the name of the Insurance Company, a combobox containing the plans that company offers. Choose a plan, and the rest of the column is filled in using vlookup.
Now to save space, IE opposed to having 13-15 columns one assigned to each Insurance Company/Provider. I am looking to have only 3-5 columns with a first initial combobox in which one chooses the Name of the Company/Provider, and in turn populate the original combobox and vlookup functionality I already have built in.
Here is an example of what I am working with. [url]
I have a question on how I could populate data using a combo box selection in Excel 2010.
For example, I have a table with values in Sheet 1, & below that table there is a combo box whereby another table of values can be populated based on the selection of the combo box.
Maybe to make it clearer...
Table 1 Name | Address | Phone number Andy | Avenue 2 | 999 John | Road 5 | 998
Combo box (selection of names): John
Data derived from combo box - Table 2 Name | Address | Phone number John | Road 5 | 998
how I could solve this Also, do let me know if this can be done without the use of VBA.
I have a workbook with several drop down boxes and formulas already set up and working. I want to improve it though. My question is.... is there a formula that will make the drop down list change based on a cell value....
For example: If B6 equals vegetables then C6 equals list (potato, carrot, pea, etc.) If B6 equals fruit then C6 equals list (apple, banana, grape)
Just wondering if a drop down list can be specific to a selection made in a previous cell. For example in column A the user would select either:
Weekly Monthly Other
Then in column B, the drop down list would be conditional upon what was selected in A. So if the user selected 'Weekly' - the drop down list in B would be: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. Or if the user selected 'Monthly' in column A's list, the list in column B would be: 1, 2, 3, ......31.
I have a dashboard that uses three pivots based off of a single data source. Each of the pivots is designed to work off of their own drop down list.
the first drop down list allows the user to select a lease date. The associated pivot will update with all servers assocated with that lease date.
the second drop down list allows the user to select a server. This list is limited by the lease date selected in the first drop down. The associated pivot will update with the partition information for the server selected in the drop down.
the third drop down list allows the user to select a partition. This list is limited by the server selected in the second drop down. The associated pivot will update with the detailed partition data for the partition selected in the drop down.
All of the above works, the issue is that when a new lease date is selected in the first drop down list, the current entries for the second and third drop down list are still reflecting the old lease date information. When you click the drop down the correct data is there, it is just not automatically populated.
Is there a way that when the user selects a new lease date in drop down one, the first server in the new list is automatically populated in the second drop down as well as the first partition in the third drop down?
I am making a form. At the top there is a dropbox with a list of applications. Based on which application the user picks, I want another section of the form to populate check boxes with the name of the projects that are associated with that application. Some applications have 2 projects, some applications have 7 projects.
I am attempting to populate a row of several cells on a worksheet using a drop-down list, using data from a seperate worksheet in the same workbook. The worksheet containing the data will be hidden (I do not think that matters in this case). Do I place a VLOOKUP function in the first worksheet cells? see attached sample
DropDownSample.xls
As a follow-up question, as time goes by, the data in the source worksheet will be appended with new items (additional rows of data). As each new item is added, will I need to edit the formulas, or is there a way for Excel to dynamically add the new data? This might be stretching my wish list a bit but I thought I'd ask.
I use drop down lists to speed up data entry. all my lists are on sheet 1 but my actual fields for selection are on sheet 2. I am trying to see if i can make the date fields columns drop down calenders. Sheet 2 is for a special import and i cannot add extra columns that are not a part of my import.. Is there a way to add drop down calenders or dates to sheet 2 without adding extra columns?
I need to populate two combo boxes from excel sheet, the data will be like below:
Column A Column B A 1 A 2 A 3 A 4 A 5 B 100 B 101 B 102
So from the above data, one combo box should hold unique values A & B.
On selecting a value from the 1st combo box A or B, respective values should be populated in 2nd combo box.
So the data should be like below:
If A is selected in the 1st combo box, then 2nd combo box should only show the values 1,2,3,4 & 5. If B is selected in the 1st combo box, then 2nd combo box should only show the values 100,101 & 102.
Friends I need it in a macro and one important point is, this is dynamic and it is not static and the data can be more.
i had a list based on dynamic formula. When ever i update(Add or Delete) New items to my List the drop down list should also be updated and sorted in Alphabetical order(Ascending :Words Starting with A - Z). How do i remove the blanks in the drop down list whenever i delete the data in the Source Data.
Is there a way to make a drop-down list optional? When I create drop-down lists the user has to make a choice from that list.
Example: a list of doctors. I need the user to be able to select from that list if the patient saw one of those physicians, but if the patient saw another doctor not on the list, I need the user to be able to enter the name of that other doctor. Currently the user has to select from the list or not enter a doctor. I am using Excel 2003.
I'm working on a workbook that already exists and that contains multiple worksheets (A,B,C,D,...), each with specific info (each row consists of an item name (item 1, item 2, item3,...)and all characteristics of this item).
We now want to add a help page for each worksheet : A => A help B => B help ...
So for each item (=row) in sheet A, there should also be an according row with additional info in A help
First, I used static hyperlinks to switch from the item in A to the corresponding help in A help. However the item list can be extended in the future (meaning rows inserted) and this will cause these links to fail. Therefore I switched to dynamic hyperlinks by inserting names (in stead of the original cell names) for each item in both A and A help. This involves a lot of work since you have to give all the involved cells a unique name and you have to refer to this unique name when you set up the hyperlink.
The file is attached here. I would like to be able to autopopulate cells based on a dropdown. The first tab has the final report and the other 2 tabs are the raw files.
I have a single registration sheet that lists names, contact information, and the class someone is in on a single sheet.
(Name, Number, Email, Class 1, Class 2)
I am hoping to automatically populate other sheets in my work book based on classes... essentially making automatically populated rosters. For example, everyone who has Math listed in either Class 1 or Class 2 would have their entire row (with contact information, etc) copied to the "Math" sheet.
I have a dropdown list selection on the form for types of machines. The list of machines, their sizes and related noise level are in a chart on worksheet 2 and I'd like to automate the form so that when the machine is selected, the related noise level auto populates.
The dropdown box has been put in the form using the data validation function.
I am after a VBA code that I can use to populate a fax template based on criteria's
Basically I have records which are being logged throughout the day via a User form and sometimes there may/maynot be a charge. the user decides at the time. The column is named "to be charged" and is filled with either Yes/ No.
I need to be able to select the date to print or Just the same day date and print all faxes' that have "Yes" for charge This way all the information for each fax is populated and the user can just print.
and if possible mark a Colum non the master sheet as printed with a X or something
I would like to populate data from 1st File(Name:-Master Data) to the 2nd File(Name:-Calculator) using validation list in the 2nd file in such a way that once the Incentive Calculation is done for any store the same data should get populated to the 3rd File(Nameay Out) automatically without manual copying & pasting.
1)Master Data File(1st File):-Contains all the relevant raw data for incentive calculation.
2)Calculator File(2nd File):-Contains a drop-down validation in cell D4(in the sheet Named:-Hyper) and this drop-down contains the list of the stores starting from H001 to H032. I have got the Sumproduct formula to link Master Data File & Calculator File via this Drop-Down list which is yielding the Incentive Amount.
3)PayOut File(3rd File):-This is the where the storewise Incentive amount should finally be stored. I need help in keeping the respective storewise Incentive amount to respective locations even though different store is selected in the Drop Down Validation in the Calculator File.
I will share a small data pertaining to 2nd File(Name:-Calculator) & 3rd File(Nameay-Out) to further explain of what result is expected.
The following figure shows the results of H012 store(when selected via the Drop-Down validation):- File Name:-Calculator.xls(Sheet Name:-Hyper)
Drop-Down List(=D4)Contains the Store names & links the Calculator File & Master Data File.
The Above Sales & Target achievement for store H012(for FMCG Department) yields the Incentive amount in the same Calculator File(Sheet Name:-Hyper) as follows:- Department(B17)Designation(C17)Incentive Details(D17)Month1(E17)FMCGFloor ManagerIncentive4641FMCGSupervisorIncentive3370FMCGStaffIncentive2276
Now finally the data from the above Incentive Calculation should get populated to the 3rd file named Payout(Sheet name:-Sheet1) as follows:- Month1Store Name(A2)Staff Incentive(B2)Supervisor Incentive(C2)Floor Manager Incentive(D2)H012227633704641H013 H014
H015
Now suppose If I select H013 from the drop-down cell in Calculator file the incentive amount should get calculated and the same should get transferred to the Pay-Out Sheet below the H012 store incentive amount without changing or altering the H012 incentive calculation and so on for H014/H015 etc.
The code below extracts unique distinct values from column A, except cell A1. Then the code adds the extracted unique distinct values to the combo box.
Sub FilterUniqueData() Dim Lrow As Long, test As New Collection Dim Value As Variant, temp() As Variant ReDim temp(0) On Error Resume Next With Worksheets("Sheet1")
[Code]....
The vba code below copies the selected value to cell C5 whenever the combobox is selected
Copy the code into a standard module.Assign this macro to the combobox
Sub SelectedValue() With Worksheets("Sheet1").Shapes("Drop Down 1").ControlFormat Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("C5") = .List(.Value) End With End Sub
Vba code belows instanly refresh the combobox when values are added/edited or removed from column A,
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Not Intersect(Target, Range("$A:$A")) Is Nothing Then Call FilterUniqueData End If End Sub
My problem is this:
Everything will be working fine if the all combobox and data can be found in 1 sheet, but how could i make some tweaks if the combo box is located in sheet 2 provided your data to be populated is in sheet 1, i tried everything but the combobox doesnt update,
I'm trying to create a drop down list which returns values based on what has been selected in the previous drop down list in the adjacent cell, e.g. if 'Apples' is selected in the previous cell then you should only be able to select from 'Gala, Granny Smith', or if 'Oranges' is selected you should only be able to select 'Seville, Blood Orange'. Is there a formula which would do this, or can I use a pivot table somehow? I'm totally stumped.
