Automatically Create Columns Based On Difference Between Two Dates
May 2, 2008
I have been perusing various Excel sites in hopes of finding a macro or function that can create columns based upon two dates input into specific cells. My ultimate goal is to use this macro or automated function so that when the user inputs the dates, the columns would automatically be created for them, rather than having them do it manually.
ideally, the 'start' and 'finish' dates are named cells and the macro could determine the difference between the two and automatically insert columns to the left of a ' Totals' column.
I have a small sheet that has a number in Column A and a larger number in Column B along with some data in Columns C and D. I wish to make a separate sheet that has rows numbered using the numerical range from Column A and Column B along with the data from Columns C & D
I am trying to automatically hide columns based on dates. I have a set of dates ranging from the beginning of August this year until the end of December 2019. I am trying to hide all columns that are at least a day ahead of the current date. Today on 8/4/13 it would show all columns up until today along with tomorrow 8/5/13.
I'm just trying to calculate the difference between dates in two columns and applying conditional formatting based on if it is a positive or negative number. But when there is a null value in either of the date columns I don't want anything returned.
So far I'm either getting a 0 or a FALSE.
Column A = Date 1 Column B = Date 2 Column C = Formula
I have dates in Column D (mm/dd/yyyy). I'm trying to write a macro to compare the date in any cell in Column D to the current date. Then, if the date in that cell is within a month of the current date, color it red. If the date is within two months, color it orange. Etc, for up to six months. I've read up a little on dates in VBA, but I'm pretty lost.
Reference the attached excel audit example. Column F highlighted in Yellow is finding the difference between "Authorized Post Allow" D9 "Post Allowance" B9 . The Column location of the two Columns changes on each audit. This means I have to manually fix the formula in Column F every time. Is there a formula that would find the difference between these two columns based on their names "Post Allowance" and "Authorized Post Allow" preventing me from manully fixing the formula.
I have an excel worksheet with data from A to T and the numbers of rows may change from use to use. I want to create a button/macro that determines where the data ends and will take the data from two columns, say column A and column D and put it in a new csv file.
In my final product, I would really like to be able to have a set of check boxes that say "Column D", "Column E", ... "Column T" and so if I check TWO boxes, say "Column D" and "Column T" and click create, it will output TWO csv files, one with Column A and Column D and the other with Column A and Column T.
I am working on Project Planning, I need to create the Progress curve for our Project based on Weight Factor every month.
I need to create the Plan and actual curve based on the dates defined in particular activities. Once the activity progress is calculated every month based on cut off date then it will sum product with corresponding WF to get the progress achieved every month. Presently I am calculating the values every month and pasting the values in Chart data every month. I had created the S Curve and attached here.
Now my objective is to automatically calculate the values for the entire cut off date at one time (From Project Start to End). i.e I don't want to do any manual work in the Chart. I will update only the actual Dates in the file, then the curves need to get automatically updated.
1) I don't want to calculate the progress for individual activities, I would like to calculate the overall progress directly.
2) When I change the Cut off date, then the previous values needs to become static.
I am trying to create a list which will summarise information from a dataset depending on two input cells in which dates are inputted by the user. I would really appreciate it if you could have a look at the file I have attached and give me some idea as to what formulae I should be using!
It is important that the position of the output list remains where it is (as ideally I want to draw graphs using the information summarised in the output list.
If your confused now when you look at the file it should make a bit more sense.
I have a list of names in column A, and want to automatically create worksheets within this same workbook based on the list.
List of values: Dairy NI Dairy SI Sheep and Beef Equine Sports Turf Water Industry Horticulture Services Production Horticulture Other Agriculture
Therefore, a macro or coding to automatically create 9 spreadsheets named as per this list.... My list is approximately 50+ hence inquiring if there is an easier way!
I would like a dynamic range to be multiplied with 2. The Range is always start in cell H14 to P?
I have multi checkbox in column F,
So here is an eksampel: If checkbox in F4 is true then Range H4:P4, should by multiplied with 2 else if the chekbox is FALSE, then only multiply with 1.
I want to entry data in the Range H14:P? by this code
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) 'Do nothing if more than one cell is changed or content deleted If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Or IsEmpty(Target) Then Exit Sub
I am working on a spreadsheet for a client. I am using Excel 2007 and she is using Excel 2000. I have created a emplate for her to enter survey data into. Using the following code, I have created combo boxes for the drop-down menus so the client can tab from one cell to the next while entering data:
Option Explicit Private Sub TempCombo_KeyDown(ByVal _ KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, _ ByVal Shift As Integer) 'Hide combo box and move to next cell on Enter and Tab Select Case KeyCode Case 9 ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Activate Case 13 ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Activate Case Else 'do nothing End Select End Sub.....................
I am trying to create a rolling 30 day average based on a date in a particular cell. I have 62 columns that I am looking at. We can call A1 7/1/14 and the 62nd column 8/31/14 for simplicity sake. I want to grab 30 values in row 2 as these columns are filled in daily so 8/1/14 takes the average of 7/2/14-8/31. On 8/5, I want 7/6-8/4 so on and so forth. The average that I need has to include at least one averageif stating that only nonzero "<>0" figures should be tabulated (just have business day transaction data but need all dates listed to tabulate 30 days). The range of dates will be fixed every month and info copied to tabulate on the first day.
I have a spreadsheet that lists dates in row 6, columns V through BE. We use these dates to log attendance for kids, so under each date there may be one of many symbols, such as "x" if the student was there. I would like to create a list of the dates that meet one of two criteria: either blank or containing "WR". So, let's say column Z is blank and Y has "WR" in it. In column FB I would like a list of all of the dates that were blank or WR, so I would want the dates contained in row 6 for Y and Z. Is there a function that will 1) look for a blank or WR across a row, 2) find the associated date for that blank in row 6, and 3) write the in another column in the form of a list, each date separated by commas? Here is an example of my information. I would like for a function to automatically make the list in column FB for any dates that are blank or contain "WR".
Macro that could look at a row and take the values of two cells, combine them and then create a range name for a third cell in the row.
For example; for row 5420, in column C there is the word Florida, in column D there is the number 6235, and in column F there is a sentence or two. Is there a way to automatically create a named range for the cell of column F that would be named FLORIDA6235? And if so, can the macro do this for every row even if the word and/or the number changes.
I have roughly 28,000 rows and nine columns that I am working with. That's why I was wondering if there was a way to automate this. There are 10 states and I don't know how many different numbers attached to the states, however there are many state and number combinations that repeat, so there would be several rows with Florida in column C, 6235 in column D but a different description in column F.
A is Date B is Room Number C is Location D,E,F all have numbers results in them. G is the average of D,E,F for each person H is group average.
If I want to define a group average in column H where it calculates the average of a group that attended the same location, date and room, for each group that attended would that be possible?
So For Example (Columns DEF left out for clarity)
Date Rm Location G Inidivual Average
[Code]....
So because room number changed it calculated as a different group. Is this possible?
I need to create a report based on three columns. I have explained in detail about my requirement in the attached sample workbook.
I hope someone will help me to solve the problem through VBA because the items & expenses may vary at times. Hence, I feel a Macro will be the best solution.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Column <> 13 Then Exit Sub If InStr(Target.Value, "Other (specify in next column)") Then Columns("N").Hidden = False ElseIf WorksheetFunction. CountIf(Columns("M"), "Other (specify in next column)") = 0 Then Columns("N").Hidden = True End If End Sub
but I have a lot of columns that I need to perform as above and I have put the code together as below
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) On Error Resume Next
If Target.Column = 13 And InStr(Target.Value, "Other (specify in next column)") Then Columns("N").Hidden = False ElseIf WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Columns("M"), "Other (specify in next column)") = 0 Then.................
Using the above code, when I selected more than one cell anywhere in my workbook and pressed delete I was bugging out with a runtime error 13 message. You can see from the above code that I inserted "On Error Resume Next" - this got rid of the runtime error 13 message, but now when I select more than one cell and press delete, hidden columns are incorrectly revealed in my worksheet. how I can extend the working code at the top of this posting so that it works for a number of different columns in my Worksheet i.e. without the runtime error 13 occurring and without columns being incorrectly revealed.
I'm currently doing some research for the World Cup (Soccer) and I want to create a formula that finds the largest gap between two dates. Basically, I'm copy and pasting player data into an Excel template I've created and one of the columns in each player's data is a list of dates when he has played over the last 12 months. I want to create a formula that shows me the length (in days) of his longest break from playing competitive football AFTER Oct 1st 2013.
I'm trying to figure out a formula that tells me how many reports are overdue. A report is due every six months. There may be times when more than one report got missed.
Right now, I have the Y6 recognizing that a report is late... period.
=IF(V6>(TODAY()),0,1)
So, what I need is: If the Time Difference between V6 and T6 is greater than 6 months, divide the difference by 6 mos and return the answer to cell Y6 (rounded down with no decimals).
I want to take two dates, a start date and an end date and get the number of days elapsed.
I also want to enter the dates quickly, as in 070808 for 07/08/08 (not having to enter the dashes). I have tried 00/00/00 and ##"/"##"/"## in the cells format, number, custom.
Using that format, entering 070808 in A1, and 070809 for A2 and finally in A3 =DATEDIF(A4,B4,"d") to get the difference in days. What I get is 1 day instead of 365 days. So it's thinking 70809 - 70808 = 1.
How do I get it to give me 365 days? What format can I use in the date cells?
In that file, you can see there is a list of somewhat similar data across 5 columns. Some of the entries are duplicates, some are different by only one character. What I want to be able to do is generate a list of all the unique rows of data, taking into account the data from ALL 5 columns. The list can be on another sheet or simply just further down on the same sheet, that doesn't matter too much.
I could do it if it were just one column of data, but struggling trying to do it with several columns.
I am trying choose the nearest date, from todays date out of a small array of numbers, and then also find the number of days between them. Additional to that, i would like it to ignore a date if that is in the past i.e. <now(). So I have a list of dates in column a, and i would like it to show me the number of days till the next closest 1, considering it hasnt passed already. I have tried many different ways and itteration of IF statement to solve this 1 but just cannot do it.
Formula query Column “A” list of dates correspondence in Column “B” list of dates correspondence reply out Need to calculate how many times the difference between date in and reply date is <= 5 in a specific time period.
The start date is entered in say, “K1” The end date is entered in say, “L1”
Also calculate difference in dates between 14 days and 21 days for time period Also with reply in column “B” not sent until over 28 days. I have tried SUMPRODUCT with (date_in=K1)*(date_out<=L1) for the dates but unsure how to define <=5
I need to calculate the amount of time between two dates, and show it in the number of hours and minutes. My dates are formatted to show the time in Zulu time. So 1406 = 2:06PM.
Here is what I have:
A1 = 6/4/08 1406Z B1 = 6/5/08 0402Z
For this example, the formula should return a result of 13 hours and 58 minutes. With the result, there is no need to desingate Zulu time with a 'Z'. But I need the result in a format that will allow me to calculate an average for all my data.
I work at a call center and I get the data as Date, Time of calling and Duration of the call. Now since this is an overseas call center, even though the calls spills over 12midnight, the corresponding date shows as the date when the agent logged in.
So I get the data in this format, Date: 06/11/2012, Time: 19:00:00 - 04:00:00.
How do I calculate the time difference at one go without first getting the time difference from the time of login till midnight and then add that to the time difference of midnight till time of logout. I have attached a file for your review.
I need to compute the no. of days between start and end dates and spread no. of days on each month. I've attached a spreadsheet with examples and further explanation.
