A1: Drop down datavalidation list selected from A3, sheet 1.
On sheet 2, a user can select from the list. If a user changes the value in A2, sheet 1, I want the value that is associated and already selected in A1, sheet 2 to automatically update. There is a 1 to many relationship with the concat and the drop down. In that, sheet 2 can have multiple rows with the same value from sheet 1 A3. Is there a way when A3 sheet 1 changes, to search in A:A in sheet two and update the values for those records that match the original value in A3, sheet 1?
I am trying to create a fairly simple spreadsheet with about 8 columns and about 400 rows. One of the columns features a drop-down list with about 8 or 9 different options. Dependant on which option is selected, i would like the entire row to change colour with that option.
For example: FAILED - whole row changes red SUCCESSFUL - row has no fill Tested - row changes to orange
I am looking to have the Cells that I have applied a Dropdown List to update with the changes that I make to the list itself.
Example:
If I were to validate a list with a range of a1:a3 using "Bob" "Sarah" "Bill" and then apply that list to B:B and randomly select from the three names running the length of B:B, I would want that when I go back to A2 and change "Sarah" to "Linda" that every "Sarah" that I have selected using the drop down will update to say "Linda"
I hope that I am explaining myself clearly and in a simple context.
One worksheet will have a library of job elements for assembly process with standard times on it.For example:Pick up a bolt(0.621m),install gasket(0.231m) etc. The main worksheet will have a dropdown list which will list all the job elements discussed above.It will also have the quantity.So in otherwords,to pick up one bolt the time would be 0.621 minutes.But if anyone picks up 4 bolts the time would be 2.115 minutes,which can be calculated by the formula.So I want to display the job element,qty and the time in three separate rows.This worksheet will also calculate the total time for the assembly of the components which might contain more than thousand job elements. My question is how do I ensure that picking up any of these job elements will give me the correct time.Is this something that can be done by formulas or anything thats built in excel or I need to run a macro or VBA to run some codes for IF...ELSE....THEN statements.There are too many conditions like If pick up one bolt time is 0.621 minutes,if pick up 4 bolts time is 2.115 minutes or if pick up a gasket time is 0.231 minutes.
I am trying to create individualized worksheets based off a master worksheet. I have different committee names that I want to appear on the individualized sheets, based on whether the person is apart of that committee or not. On my master sheet, I choose the persons name under the committee and I want that committee name to show on the individualized sheet. For example, I want A1 on Master to show on Name 1, B3 and A10 on Master to show on Name 1, C3. Can I write a formula to achieve this or or am I asking too much? In my actual file, I will have about 10 names and 5 committees with one person being on up to all 5 of the committees.
In Excel 2007; I need my drop down list to then change the next cell down to a series of different values? How do i do this? i have created the drop down list, but can't link the values to the item selected in the drop down list. The JPG attached shows a basic set up of what i am trying to do: The drop down list contains various product models (yellow) Once selected this then changes the m2 value (red) which is linked to the formulas in orange; product factor is entered manually.
How do I change the color of a row, based on the users selection from a drop down box in that row? I have four driving types in my drop down , Towing - Town Driving - All highway - Mixed. I would like each driving type, if selected, to change the color of the entire Row of Data to a different color. I have been able to use conditional formating to change the drop down cell itself, but that is it.
i need to be able to update cell value in Sheet1(A1) & Sheet2(A1) from either way.Both having dropdown list pointing to the same list.Which means i can select data from either dropdown list and get the other 1 having the same selection.
I'm trying to create a drop down list which returns values based on what has been selected in the previous drop down list in the adjacent cell, e.g. if 'Apples' is selected in the previous cell then you should only be able to select from 'Gala, Granny Smith', or if 'Oranges' is selected you should only be able to select 'Seville, Blood Orange'. Is there a formula which would do this, or can I use a pivot table somehow? I'm totally stumped.
I have attached my problem workbook in explanation, I need help of pulling values from particular data by referencing selection in drop down list via some formula. I thought about using the SUMPRODUCT and VLOOKUP but couldnt reference the values in drop down list.
Im currently creating a spreadsheet for my work, with common problems and solutions to one of our websites.
When the spreadsheet is opened, the user will click a button depending on what sort of problem he/she is having. In the example attached, if the user clicks on "make payments" a form will appear. This will have a list of problems.
if the user choses problem 1 from the drop down list, then I would like the list of solutions to problem 1(from the MPData sheet) to show in the box below. The same goes for problem 2, problem 3 etc.
I have created a pricing sensitivity for a list of products. In cell C3, users can select a product (i.e. Apple, Elmo, or Bowl) and based on this selection, a range of Prices and Units are then updated and the Revenue for each price point calculated. A few lines beneath this, I have a little summary table that lists all the products. I'd like for users to be able to enter in the optimal price point for each item and then have the Units and Revenue for that selected price point for that specific product automatically update.
For example, if I select Apple from my drop down list my price choices are $5, $10, $15; units are 100, 85, 70; and revenue are $500, $850, and $1,050 respectively. On the summary table, I would like units 85, revenue $850 to update automatically if I select/input a $10 price. This would happen for all the products so at the end I want to be able to calculate a blended revenue mix given my pricing changes.
I am trying to make a calendar spreadsheet to enable me to track allowance payments i am due from my company.
This payment is worked out by three conditions - where i am working (7 regions), how many days of the week (4,5,6 or7) and how many hours (<7,8-9 or 10-12)
I have made drop down lists to select each of the values for the three conditions and want to show the total for them
i can total the entire spreadheet for the month up using fairly large "COUNTIF" statements, but i want to be able to show what the exact amount is in each cell not just a complete total.
i.e. i am away for 6 days i get �15 extra, if i am in Europe i get another �50 and if i work 12 hours i get �30.
I want to be able to calculate this total in each cell for that day.
I can send a copy of the spreadsheet i have got at the moment if that will make things clearer than what i have tried to explain.

The problem is when i press ctrl+c to copy a cell content, so once i move the curser to the distenation cell then the copying mode in selected cell disappeared. It is because when the event is trigered then the copying mode stops. The question is : how to let the copying mode works even when the event is trigered ?
I'm using Excel 2007. I would like to seek some advise on how i may update cells after selecting a month from a drop down list.
i have created a simplified version of what i intend to have. One the 1st tab 'Cash Budget 2009', i have filled up a table with numbers, sorted by months. On the 2nd tab 'Dec09', i would like to create an expense table, to be able to be selected by month. So i have created a drop down list based on the months that are created in the 1st tab.
Upon selection of the month from the drop down list, i would like the cells to display (fetch) the data from the 1st worksheet. It would also be helpful if the name of the 2nd tab can be updated to read as the month that is being selected.
I'm trying to use " autofilter". I put the code as Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Excel. Range)
so it'll update by itself. My criteria are on row 5 and all my data is below row 7. Row 7 contains the headers. This all works fine for text-fields. My question is if someone can get it working with numbered fields?
Let's say that in column A I have numbers,"Yes" and "No". I want in column B to have only the numbers from column A, in the same order without any empty ranges, and everytime I add in column A a new number, column B to update automatically with that number. Let's have an example:
A B Yes 12 12 13 No 10 13 No 10 Yes
And if I want to add in column A: A B Yes 12 12 13 No 10 13 25 No 15 10 Yes 25 15
So the column be will update automatically. I already tried =IFERROR(INDEX($A$1:$A$10,SMALL(IF(ISNUMBER($A$1:$A$10),ROW($A$1:$A$10)),ROWS(B$1:B1))-ROW($A$1)+1),") but using this many times get's my file very heavy and the excel is working slow.
I have a list (external), which will be updated every month from an external source with new numbers and possibly a new size. This will be a count of services people use. On a 2nd sheet I need to allocate a cost to these services (pivotdata). This works fine if the list stays the same size, but it most probably won't so I need it to update automatically, not manually extending the list on the 2nd sheet. In brackets are the named ranges of the data in the spreadsheet.
On Sheet2, data validation is applied to cells D21:D70 to limit data to values to a list, which is a named range on another worksheet. There are ranges on two other worksheets with the same data validation rule. The range for the list is ‘Sheet1’!D12:D26 (which is named “Processes”).
On Sheet1, the user enters a list of their processes. Then on Sheet2 (and the other sheets where the data validation is applied), they select one of the processes from the list. This all works fine until they go back to Sheet1 and modify one of the previously entered values.
For example, "Brush Teeth" is entered as one of the processes on Sheet1. It is then selected on Sheet2. Then, the user goes back to Sheet1 and changes the value to "Brush Hair." When you return to Sheet2, the value is still "Brush Teeth." It can be manually be changed by selecting “Brush Hair” from the drop-down list (“Brush Teeth” is no longer available), but it doesn’t automatically update.

On Sheet2 (I assume I need to add this code to every applicable sheet), I tried editing the first part of the code as follows (changes in bold), but when I click on any cell on Sheet2 that has the data validation rule applied, VB returns the error “Run-time error ‘1004’: Method ‘Range” of object ‘_Worksheet’ failed.” If I go into the debugger, the second instance of “If Not Intersect(Target, Range(dataList)) Is Nothing Then” is highlighted.
I have some data validation drop down lists in excel, I can tab through all the lists but I have to press alt + down arrow to show the list, Is their a way it can be automatically shown as soon as I focus on the tab.
I have a coworker trying to create a dropdown list and is using wingdings for the checkmark, x, and other symbols for filling out for. Everything works great except when you click in the field the drop down box doesnt show the wingdings font but the corresponding arial font. Is there a way to change the dropdown box to wingdings because currently the dropdown box shows various 'u's with different grammatical stresses.
I inherited a spreadsheet with a combox box, drop down list for user to select a project by name. The cell right below uses a lookup function to select the code listed with that project name from a list on a separate worksheet. When I edit the codes on the list used as the source for the lookup, the new code will appear as it should.
I want to edit the drop down list that appears in the combobox. I cannot find the source for the drop down list. Any ideas where/how to look for it?
I am kind of new to Excel programming and would like to know if there is a solution to my problem. What I need is to have a dropdown list (I know how to make this) then select an item from the drop down, then based on the name i select, Excel automatically fill up the rest of the cells.
For example, from the drop down list I select the company name then Excel automatically type the address, phone number, Fax number and the contact name of the company for me in corresponding cells. Is there a way to do this?
