Automatically Insert Blank Line When Value Of Cell A Changes And Use Of COUNTA Formula
May 29, 2013
I need to do two things in my Excel spreadsheet: 1) I want it to insert a blank row everytime a value in the 1st column changes. 2) In the blank lines, I want to do a COUNTA for each of columns G through N. If I can get the program to insert the blank rows...they will not be a set # of records apart...some will have 3 records & some might have 17 records. Is there a way to automatically cause #2 to happen instead of having to choose the function icon and then tell Excel the first and last cells in each range?

Is there a way to use the COUNTA function in cell A1, that will return the total number of cells containing text in the rest of row 1, BUT, will start the count over after a blank cell.
EXAMPLE: A2, A3, A4 all have text added on a daily basis. The value returned via COUNTA in A1 = 3 (after the third day). However, A5 is blank, then A6 gets text on the 5th day, and now I need the returned value in A1 via the COUNTA function to = 1, because we started over after a blank cell.
Possible?

After importing a data set into the worksheet entitled "SPACE", I am trying to find the column entitled "Variability Cpu" and then for every cell in that column that has a value in it, I would like to insert a new row beneath that cell. I thought my code made sense, but I get the "Run-time error '424': Object required" error on the line in red below so apparently I'm missing something. why I'm getting this error (doesn't the object variable shtS refer to the worksheet object "SPACE"? Why is it saying object required?). Here's what I've got so far:

We have a schedule that creates an Excel file which separates each order by blank rows. I need each order to be separated by a page break, so each order prints on a separate sheet.
Each order entry is 1 or 2 rows
Using Excel 2010/2013 although the file produced is an xls file.
Columns A to J are populated
Rows 1 & 2 are the header
I have tried a macro that involves me doing a countif and counting entries in the row, and if they add to 10 it inserts a page break, but its bit long winded and only seemed to work once.

I understand the non blank cells part of Count A but not the additional values part. I have looked at the examples in teh MS help and it doe not help at all really.
A1:Data
A2:Sales
A3:11/01/1900
A4:
A5:19
A6:3
A7:FALSE
doing =counta(a1:a7,2) returns a value of 7 but why? There are six non blank cells and no cells containing a 2

I have a workbook that usually looks something like this
Category Product No description Price
Balloons 12345 Red Disney balloon .50
Balloons 12567 Blue Princess balloon .86
Balloons 76521 Angry Birds Balloon .80
Kites 23456 A Big red Kite .27
Kites 22222 A small blue kite .06
Banners 10000 Party banner .33
etc..
I need to find a way to copy the category below an empty row from column A and paste it in the blank row in column B . If possible to bolden the text but I could probably work that bit out myself. I'm new to this but have used VBA before to run macros.

I am trying to use =COUNTA(A25:A500) to retrieve the number of non blank cells. Only problem I am having is that the cells that are blank are also using a formula to gather its data. The cell would be blank but the formula is still there, so using =COUNTA(A25:A500) returns all these cells with the formula also.

I am trying to stack the values of a chart into a single column. So my data looks like this:
-------A--------B
1 Value1 Value2
2 Value3
3 Value4
4 Value5 Value6
5 Value7
If cell 1B does not = 0 I want to add a line between line 1 and 2 (I'll call that line "11") and take Value2 and paste it into 11A If cell 1B is blank I want it to do nothing
So I want my data to look like this:
---------A
1....Value1
11..Value2
2....Value3
3....Value4
4....Value5
41..Value6
5....Value7
I want to automate this as much as possible but if it's not easy to do I at least want to at least automatically add a blank row below if value does not = 0 and then I can manually move the values as needed.

I have a worksheet that contains data arranged in fields from columns A to J. The relevant columns for the purposes of the macro are columns B (customer codes) and G (sales values). Column B may contain a single instance of a customer code, or multiple (over 50), depending on how active a customer has been. The worksheet always contains many different customer codes with varying numbers of rows for each customer, sorted by customer. What I'm trying to do is write a macro that will loop through the worksheet and insert a blank line immediately after a change in value of column B (customer code), and in this blank line, insert the customer code in column B (which comes from the cell immediately above), a sum formula for all values within a range that relate to that particular customer in column G, and an IF statement in column J that relates to the SUM formula. The loop concludes when there are no longer values in column B.
I have managed to insert blank lines on change in values in column B, but am not sure about the best approach for inserting the SUM formula or the IF statement in columns G and J respectively.

.Value = .Value

Any way to have the worksheet name on a tab inserted automatically in a cell on the spreadsheet? I have a file used to record orders and I have to keep inserting new worksheets for each order. I want the name on the tab of each worksheet to show in cell A1 so when I copy in a new worksheet A1 will show Sheet 1, for example. However, when I rename the worksheet I want "Sheet 1" in A1 to change to the new name.

Basically, I am curious if I were to insert a value into say cell A1, is there any way B1 could display a picture I've saved. To be a bit more specific, A1's value would be 777, and B1's inserted picture would be 777.png saved on my PC. This would need to apply for the whole of the sheet for all the values in column A.

Can anyone help? I need to achieve the following involving the insertion of rows from a specified value reference within the worksheet to which the rows are being added.
The original data would look like:
ABCDEFG1PeterABC, DEF, GHI32DavidABC, DEF23SamABC, DEF, GHI, JKL44TomABC, DEF25
The number of rows to be inserted under each entry is listed in column "C" (which is a count of the separate entries in column "B".
The output data following the application of the "solution" would need to look as follows:
ABCDE1PeterABC, DEF, GHI3ABC2DEF3GHI4DavidABC, DEF2ABC5DEF6SamABC, DEF, GHI, JKL4ABC7DEF8GHI9JKL10TomABC, DEF2ABC11DEF
Where the specified number of rows have been inserted underneath the original entry and the separate values in column "B" have been listed in consequtive cells, relating to their original entry in column "D".
Can anyone suggest code to achieve this outcome?
