I have a colomn with numers and text. I would like to get an average of the numbers in the column, but using average (A1:A10) gives me #N/A as some of the cells contain #N/A.
So wondering if there is an AverageIF function in excel that I can use to write something which only averages IF it is a number.
Sounds very basic but I could not find anything through search.
i get a problem in preparing a roster i went to ignore blank cells in calculating rank. and also i went to make the sum to be empty is one of the cells in a range is zero
I have one Row that houses numbers 80-90 in seperate cells (11 columns A20: K20) - these are my Numeric Labels.
I then have several other Rows that span the same number of columns as the Numeric Labels (A21:K100) and house Numeric Values that relate to the Numeric Labels.
I would like to AVERAGE the Numeric Values in each Row and have a Numeric Label (value) that corresponds to the calculated average returned as the result.
I'm trying to return the average, min and max values of a range that will have errors, be blank or have zeros. I have already found an array formula that works getting rid of the errors but the zeros are now a problem.
{=AVERAGE(IF(NOT(ISERROR(D27:G27)),D27:G27))}
I was thinking that an OR might be needed but for the life of me can't figure out where it belongs. I will also be using this formula with both MIN and MAX in the adjacent cells so it would be great if all I have to do is swap those in for AVERAGE. I'm not keen on how array formulas work, just found an example similar to this on the interwebs, and I'm curious why if the array brackets are removed the value returned is 0 and not an error.
Workbook is proprietary so VB is locked and not an option (not sure if it was but wanted to be clear).
I'm currently trying to perform some statistical functions on a range of data but with little success.
I want to "AVERAGE" the range and also do a "STDEV" on the range G8:G107 but some of the cells contain #N/A formula errors. I must have the formula returning #N/A to the cells else my chart on the same range plots the empty cell as 0.
What formula can I use that will let me do the standard average and stdev functions on that range, but ignoring the #N/A errors as if they were simply empty cells?
Column B values are the average of the most recent five values in column A. The formula in Cell C1 is “=B7” so that the value in C1 is 1.17. My question is: When I place a value in cell A8, which will result in the average of the five numbers in column A4-A8 being placed in cell B8 how do I make the value in C1 change to be the value which is in cell B8 rather than the value which is in cell B7?
Note: I just want to be able to pick up the most recent average value – the method whereby it is done is of no consequence. However I cannot think of an alternative. Example:.....
I am making a summery table of lots of soil contaminant data.
In my summery table, for each determinand I want the average value automatically taken from data from a number of other tables within this same spreadsheet.
For example, for pH- I would average the pH value found in each table, from cell D6, G24 and AB9.
The problem:
Out of the three tables where I take each pH value from, on occasions only one will have a value- the other two will be "0".
How do I ensure that, when averages are taken, it will always ignore '0' values?
I have a column of over 500 replies to a survey. I want to create a pie chart showing the average ages of the respondee to that that question, broken down into increments of 5 years (this was the question -- how old are you) and reported as a percentage.
I need to find the average numbers on sheet 1 column D. Column D contains numbers as well as Blank cells. The info will be presented on sheet 2 in a monthly view. In other words i need to ssearch awithin a date range and determin the average of those numbers. This works on some months but return a DIV/0 erro most of the time.
Here is the formula I am using however it interprets the blank cells as 0% and includes it in the average. To make it more difficult there will be some 0%'s.
I want to be able to find the last non empty row in column C and then average the last three inputs. Thus utilzing this as a means for a projection of the remaining periods left in the year. All for projecting figures for the remainder of the year.
I'm trying to figure out if there is a formula I could use that will calculate the average of a group cells in one column based on the condition of another column. It's hard to explain, so I will show an example. All the data is on a one worksheet and I'm trying to show totals and averages on another worksheet. Location, Days
17, 4 17, 3 17, 5 26, 4 26, 8 26, 10 26, 7
On a different worksheet I would want to know what the average days are for each location. So is there a formula that I could use that will look at column A for a specified location number and then average all the days in column B for that location? I'm using Excel 2003 and have tried using the Average(if) but with no success.
I would like to find the weighted average of the values in the "score" column. Additionally, I would like to only find the weighted average if the student is jack and jane. I have attached my workbook for review.
I was wondering if there is a way for excel to compare cells and identify when they are identical. My objective for this is as follows. Lets say i have some data entered in cells A1:A10. Suppose cells A1,A3,and A4 had the same value (112-343). Now suppose cells B1:B10 had values also, lets say B1=2, B3= 2.5 and B4=8. I need for excel to go through the A1:A10 range and realize when the A cells have identical values, after this is realized i want excel to take the values in the B cell that correspond to the identical A cells, average them and then store them in cell C. And if there are mutliple identical cells i would like the routine to be able to identify this also. lets say A1=A3=A4=(112-343) and A6=A8=A9=(154-456) ....
I need a cell formula that will (a) identify the highest N values in an above specified column range, (b) color the interior of those N cells (I suspect that this is not possible), and most importantly (c) return the average value of N corresponding cells, where the corresponding cells are located on the same rows as the identified N high value cells but in a specified column to the left (not necessarily adjacent)
Does anybody know what this formula would look like?
Example:
----------------------- ...| A | B | C | D | E | F | ------------------------- 1 |....| * |.........| 7 |... ------------------------- 2 |....................| 2 |... ------------------------- 3 |....| * |.........| 6 |... ------------------------- 4 |....................| 1 |... ------------------------- 5 |....| * |.........| 5 |... ------------------------- 6 |....................| ? |... -------------------------
? = average of B1,B3,B5 where (N = 3) and (specified column to the left = B)
I had trouble today adding up series of cells that would sometimes contain text (during data entry, a 'n/a' value would be entered if such data was unavailable, causing standard addition to break), but thanks to another thread (Ignore Text Adding Cells is that it ignores non-numeric values.
However, after doing some more work I realized that some other summations were still breaking, and I believe it is because some of the cells being added are flagged with the "#VALUE!" error. The SUM function does not seem to ignore this, and produces a "#VALUE!" error of its own. My question is, how can I perform calculations (a summation of an array of cells, in my case) while ignoring not just non-numeric data, but errors as well?
i have two columns...a and b (a w/ names, and b w/grades). then i have the table lookup with names and grades all mixed up for many rows. i want to be able to average the grades with appropriate names.
=average(vlookup(name, table, column, false))?? i don't get it to work and how can i specify the grade to average?
I'm trying to create a formula that that returns an average value if two conditions are met. No luck here.
I need to be able to get to - Brand = Blue; Value = 2; X Count = average - from the following information. The average is 17.5
