Sep 30, 2009
I am trying to code where when someone hits the command button it will popup with the browse form and they find the location of the file and it puts there choice in a cell. don't know if it matters but the location would always be a picture. Here is what I have but it shows -1 in the cell
HTML
Dim strFilePath As Variant
strFilePath = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFolderPicker).Show
shUserInformation.Range("D12").Value = strFilePath

I Haveused Formuee To Seperate Them And A Macro To Put Them On Seperate Sheets.but...
I Want To Insert A Picture (for More Indepth Reports)
Rather Than Inserting A Picture Can I Do A Macro That When It Is Run It Opens Up A Browser, Similar To The One In Insert Picture And Then Insert A Picture After The Bottom Cell And Resize It So It Will Be The Same Every Time? But At The Bottom Of The Last Line Of Data.

I am putting together a price list in excel and using images and hyperlinks to jazz it up a bit - what I am finding is that if I insert a 25KB GIF image, the excel file grows in size by over 100KB
why is this disproportionate growth happening and is there a way around it - I dont want my Price List growing too large but need the images....?

First of all, I would like to thank all Excel Forum Moderators and Members especially Andy Pope for the great effort they exert to help all members.
Lately, I viewed the thread available on the following link and I admired the great perfect work and codes provided by Andy Pope so much,
http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...-userform.html
My request is similar to the points discussed in the above mentioned thread, but, it is a little bit different ..
Instead of inserting the picture to the worksheet, I want the picture to be copied from one folder on the HD to another folder called (Employees photos), which is located in workbook's path.
In other words, I need a code to copy one jpg picture from one location to another.

send automaticaly, or it waits until user will push button send or brows to attach the file.
In all given samples it says: “If you use Microsoft Outlook”. I know that any office has Outlook. Is it impossible to make Outlook usable with macro and then send an e-mail?

I have looked in books and online and can't seem to locate how to create a macro that opens a browse function. From Excel I would like to click a button to start a macro and have that macro prompt me where to browse for the file. There is a lot of other code that will go after this step (which I already have), so once I click to "open" a file I want the macro to continue.

Does VBA support any type of "browse for file" interface? I'm thinking something similar to an inputbox, but instead it gives you the standard looking windows explorer window to find a file (think adding an attachment in outlook).
The function would return a string.

I am trying to write some VBA that will select a row of cells that each have links to cells in another workbook, and then either autofill the formulas down (or pastespecial them down) for 20 rows. I have that part down using either pastespecial or autofill, but -
Since the forumulas are links to another workbook, Excel wants to resolve that link to calculate the values at the time of the pastespecial or autfill. If the sourced workbook is not open, the "browse for file" popup displays. I don't want the popup to display and would rather just get the #REF in the pasted cells and let it resolve the next time the sourced workbook is open. The end result would be like clicking "cancel" to the "browse for file popup", which I'm tired of constantly doing... I would just like to skip that popup all together and get the #REF value.

I have run into a problem in a project where I know what the folder root of the file I would like to import into excel is, but I do not know the file name.
I would like to open a dialogue open where I can select the file I wish to import from the known root supplied and retain the file name as a string.
All solution I have read assume the full file root is know or file name is known but root is unknown
I am working with Excel 2003.

I have a requirement to download a lot of historical data files from the archieve of an website. The url goes something like this: [URL]....
This downloads file for 21022014 ie. 21-Feb-2014. I need to be able to have a facility to have a selection criteria on my user form (in excel) where I specify a date range and the macro automatically downloads all the valid excel files available within that date range (files for Saturday, Sunday and some holiday dates will not be available in the website archive database) one after the other (like at single clcik of button) into a specific location (predefined viz.. c:/Users/EOD files/) on my laptop. Best would be if I am able to select the save location run time by using a 'Browse' like feature where I go and choose my local laptop folder...same type when we try uploading a file from our laptop to the web..

I do routine tasks every day which involves opening 3 different files and pasting data into my main file. The data is always in the same format, and the 3 files are saved in the same location (3 different folders through). The 3 files are saved each day and the naming convention is constant, with only the date changing. For example, the files are always saved in C:My Documents and the files are called test_05.02.2013.xls. Tomorrow the file will be called test_06.02.2013.xls and so on.
So each day I will be rolling a file forward and I want to bring in the info from each of these files based on the new day.
How to do 1, and I will do the others (because the concept will be the same).

I have done the above where when I select a picture name from a drop down list it displays the relevant picture in another cell by using the IF function in the named formula
My question is why cant I use VLOOKUP instead of IF in the named formula. When I use it it comes with an error.

I want to paste/show a photo in a particular cell (D2) on a worksheet (called PP). I wish to delete any photo that may already be there in D2.
The picture's name (e.g. J-145.jpg) will be found in another sheet (called MP) in cell H1.
My pictures are stored in a folder (lets call it c:pictures) and the one I want has the same name (J-145.jpg).
I've tried many macros but none work.

way to construct my save file so that it saves to the correct location.
I have a a FileSearch that lookings in a specific Folder and the sub folders for a file type and then saves them to a different location. Here is the location of the save in regards to the original location...
Filesearch folder= C:path
Savefolder=C:path he folder its found in & " excel converted"
If that makes any sense, basically I need to call the path of the file I opened, but not including the file name.

if this is possible, but is there anyway to reference a file location in a formula using another cell?
EG:
Cell A2 (Text) = C:Folder1Folder2Folder3Sheet v1.2.xls
Cell B2 = =A2'tab1'!$A$1
So, in cell B2 it will use the file location in cell A2.
I need this because the values will be updated in Sheet v1.2 and version controlled (so if it changes to 1.3 all you have to do is change cell A2).

I am trying to write a macro which does a screen print of a couple of sheets in a spreadsheet. I created the macro using the recorder function and then trimmed it down a bit. However, when I run the macro it pops up with the box asking for a file location, and this is not something that the recoder function seems to write into the macro. I am not sure how to have the macro autofil the file location for the screen print. Is there anyone out there who can give me a hand with this? Thanks. The code for the macro is below...
Sub ScreenPrint()
Sheets( Array("Sheet1", "Sheet2", "Sheet3")).Select
Application.ActivePrinter = "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer on Ne00:"
Selection.PrintOut Copies:=1, ActivePrinter:= _
"Microsoft Office Document Image Writer on Ne00:", Collate:=True
Sheets("Sheet1").Select
End Sub

I have an excel file with about 200 images! This increases the filesize too much. So, I want to (if possible) have all the 200 images in different files, but still show all the pictures directly in Excel like before, without having the directly imported into excel. So, easy explained: I want to show a picture directly in excel that is in another file without having the picture increasing the filesize as before! How can i do this??

I had copied a macro from this forum [it was posted by either shg or NBVC], and I modified it to fit my needs. The macro creates a new word document and sends a series of cells from an excel worksheet column to this word file. Everything works fine, but now I need to insert a picture after row 14. I have inserted the code [colored red], but I am sure the syntax or something isn't right. That part doesn't work.

I have a template excel file that has links to data in another excel file in the same directory as the template. However, I save the template with a new name in a new folder and the link no longer works. The link changes to the location with the new file and of course the file I am trying to like to is not in that location.
The link shows the full path in the template file so I would think it would keep the full path when saving to a new location but the file doesn't.
How do I make the link address static?
