Browse For Picture File And Put Location In Cell
I am trying to code where when someone hits the command button it will popup with the browse form and they find the location of the file and it puts there choice in a cell. don't know if it matters but the location would always be a picture. Here is what I have but it shows -1 in the cell

First of all, I would like to thank all Excel Forum Moderators and Members especially Andy Pope for the great effort they exert to help all members. Instead of inserting the picture to the worksheet, I want the picture to be copied from one folder on the HD to another folder called (Employees photos), which is located in workbook's path. Macro To Prompt Where To Browse For The File
I have looked in books and online and can't seem to locate how to create a macro that opens a browse function. From Excel I would like to click a button to start a macro and have that macro prompt me where to browse for the file. There is a lot of other code that will go after this step (which I already have), so once I click to "open" a file I want the macro to continue.

Does VBA support any type of "browse for file" interface? I'm thinking something similar to an inputbox, but instead it gives you the standard looking windows explorer window to find a file (think adding an attachment in outlook). The function would return a string.

Put File Name In Cell Of Workbook
Is it possible to have the name of a workbook referenced in a cell via a formula or VBA in that workbook? I'm trying to extract the date that is in the filename, and input that in all cells in column N that have data in column M. I know I'll have to do some manipulating, but if I could somehow automate getting the filename input into the workbook, I might be able to muddle my way through it.

Suppress Browse For File When Copy Formula Linked To Other Workbooks
I am trying to write some VBA that will select a row of cells that each have links to cells in another workbook, and then either autofill the formulas down (or pastespecial them down) for 20 rows. I have that part down using either pastespecial or autofill, but - Since the forumulas are links to another workbook, Excel wants to resolve that link to calculate the values at the time of the pastespecial or autfill. If the sourced workbook is not open, the "browse for file" popup displays. I don't want the popup to display and would rather just get the #REF in the pasted cells and let it resolve the next time the sourced workbook is open. The end result would be like clicking "cancel" to the "browse for file popup", which I'm tired of constantly doing... I would just like to skip that popup all together and get the #REF value.

Default File Location
I have had my server removed that I had my default file location, when I go in to change any of my options the first thing it does is go look for this file location and brings back an error stating it cannot find the server. I cannot find anywhere else that I could change it.

Insert A Picture In The Word File?
I had copied a macro from this forum [it was posted by either shg or NBVC], and I modified it to fit my needs. The macro creates a new word document and sends a series of cells from an excel worksheet column to this word file. Everything works fine, but now I need to insert a picture after row 14. I have inserted the code [colored red], but I am sure the syntax or something isn't right. That part doesn't work.

if this is possible, but is there anyway to reference a file location in a formula using another cell? EG: Cell A2 (Text) = C:Folder1Folder2Folder3Sheet v1.2.xls Cell B2 = =A2'tab1'!$A$1 So, in cell B2 it will use the file location in cell A2. I need this because the values will be updated in Sheet v1.2 and version controlled (so if it changes to 1.3 all you have to do is change cell A2).

File Location For Screen Prints
I am trying to write a macro which does a screen print of a couple of sheets in a spreadsheet. I created the macro using the recorder function and then trimmed it down a bit. However, when I run the macro it pops up with the box asking for a file location, and this is not something that the recoder function seems to write into the macro. Explored a few posts on my topic, but didn't quite find what I needed. I need to open the Insert Picture dialog with it pointed at C:My DocumentsTemp. (Users will be required to save their images files to this location only). Attempted to run a macro to get the code, but the dialog box forces you to select a file. Protected Sheet - Insert Picture File
Workbook Password Protect 2 Levels. I have managed to write simple but effective code that allows only one password to be enetered to open a SS & offers 3 levels of protection, limited permission to enter data, read-only & data completely hidden. This is excellent for my needs however I want the user who has limited rw to be able to insert a pic file which is their signature but because the sheet has protected cells it won't allow user to insert picture jpg file. I have just thought of a creative solution tho. What if the picture file is already saved in the workbook and by using code to ask to insert pic file it copies from one location in SS to the appropriate cell in the worksheets? The scenario is that I have fortnightly timesheets in 12 calendar months in 12 separate sheets. When staff member fills in timesheet I want them to insert signature for that f/night indicating thatthey have filled it in & it is correct but because of protection it won't allow me to.

Copy Data From Named File And Location
I am trying to set up a file name and path in a cell, and then use this from a number of other cells but with a cell location added to it. So for example: cell A1 contains a file name "c:mydirectoryexcelfile.xls" cell A2 needs to contain the contents of the cell at location K12 (for example) from the file referred to in A1 cell A3 needs to contain the contents of the cell at location K13 (for example) from the file referred to in A1 This is to save having to put the filename and cell reference in all of the of cells. I would then do the same thing with another file in column B of this file and the same with column C etc.

The file will the same file (ABC.xls) BUT the user might want to change it by typing a new name & Extension in the first Inputbox. 2. A second InputBox (Drive & Path) should now Pop-up. The source text files I am using can vary in length from 4,000 characters to well over 100,000 characters. However the data I am looking for always starts 40 characters from the end of the file and is 10 characters long! I use an image analysis program ImagePro which can call Excel within it's macro language (which seems to be visual basic). I looked up on this site how the change the drive (ChDrive command). But still when the Excel section (after With oExcel) executes the default file location in the browser is in My Documents on the C: drive. Prior to this code Excel has been launched by this ImagePro macro, and a file Cumberland Template has been opened from the C: drive. Interpolation Given A Variable Table Location & Location Of Data Within

I have recorded a macro for inserting, sizing and positioning a product photo into a report. The photo file is in a directory containing many files. Filenames are alpha numeric codes with a .jpg extensions. File May Be Read-Only, Or You May Be Trying To Access A Read-Only Location
I'm trying to open a file on a network drive...but I'm getting the following error message when it opens: "This file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or the server the document is stored on may not be responding." Now, the file itself has no rights restrictions and is not read only. It doesn't appear to be locked. Now, there are other Excel files in the same directory which I could open fine; however, the Excel documents having the above problem all have a little black icon "appears to be a padlock" (image attached) at the bottom left hand side of the Excel file icon. I tried the following: - Renaming - Converting to a different file format (didn't work, it won't let me) - Opening in notepad...etc doesn't work. This file is dated back in 2004...do you think it's corrupt? Is there anything i can do to open or recover this?

Picture Based On A Value In A Cell
I have found a few solutions here in the message boards but I don't see one that totally matches what I need. Basically I want it to look up the clients logos. We only have a few clients but when sending the report to a client we don't want them to be able to see or find who our other clients are or their logos. So I need it to display a picture based on a value but to also have the pictures on a seperate sheet that I can delete before distributing. Unhide Picture If Cell Contains Value
I have attached a simplified version of the xls I am using. On the attached xls there are two tabs. The first tab (BUYS) has linked pictures of cells on the second tab (Warehousing). I would like some code which would display the pictures only when the corresponding cells in Column F have a number in it. (This number could be anything) e.g. If cell F4 has a number in it show Picture 1 If cells F4 and F5 have a number in them show Picture 1 and 2 My full xls (not attached) has another tab called SELLS. These two tabs (BUYS and SELLS) have 15 pictures each (1 for each row 4:18). Ideally an exception would be written into the code so that if the xls was named "yymmdd Asian Executions" or "yymmdd Europe Executions" none of the pictures would show up. I hope I have been clear but it's very difficult to be objective so please let me know if you need any more information.
