CHECK For PATH EXSISTANCE - CREATE IF FLASE...
Jun 1, 2006
I know how to check for a path exsistance. If Dir(DEST, vbDirectory) = "" Then MsgBox "Path does not exist" (while DEST = "C:TempMike"). I would like to add a question which will determine if the user wants the Macro to create that Path.
1. I do not know how to create that path via VBA Code.
2. What if 'C:Temp' allready exists and only 'Mike' has to be added/created !?

I have an application that requires users to download a file from a location that is then imported at their execution into the application. I've done my best to counsel users to download the file to their desktop (for ease of locating) and to stick with a standard filename so that there are no errors. Some of these people just don't take direction well, will save the file wherever, or save the name inappropratly, or worse, open up multiple copies of the same file corrupting the name: ie: FileName.xls, FileName.xls(1), FileName1.

I have a spreadsheet with a macro that saves a backup s/s to a particular folder, but the problem I have need the macro to check the filepath is that of the original s/s before running.
Its so that when people take copies of the main s/s and save them to their desktop I dont want the copies being saved in the backup folder
macro is below
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly Then Exit Sub
If MsgBox("Do You Want To Save A Backup?", vbYesNo) = vbNo Then Exit Sub
Dim fso As Object
Dim objFiles As Object
Dim myWkBk As String
Dim myFName As String
Dim BkUpDir As String
Dim CountFiles As Integer
Dim mydate As Double
BkUpDir = "k:singstatappealsappeals trackerBackups"
Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set objFiles = fso.GetFolder(BkUpDir).Files
On Error Resume Next
'the actual counting of files takes place here.
If Err.Number 0 Then
CountFiles = 0
Else
CountFiles = objFiles.Count
End If
If CountFiles > 4 Then
MsgBox "You have " & CountFiles & " saved workbooks. Perhaps you should delete some?"
End If
mydate = Format(Now(), "ddmmyy")
myWkBk = ActiveWorkbook.Name
myFName = ActiveWorkbook.FullName
fso.CopyFile myFName, BkUpDir & mydate & myWkBk
End Sub

I have some code traversing a directory of folders and subfolders on a shared server and returning a list of those file paths. Around 6000 folders with about 2 subfolders on average. This returns a list of 12000 filepaths but takes around 13-15 minutes to do. Each path looks something like this:
C:Folder1
C:Folder1Folder1SubFolder1
C:Folder1Folder1SubFolder2
C:Folder2
C:Folder2Folder2SubFolder1
C:Folder2Folder2SubFolder2

This should be so easy, but I know I am missing something. I know that you can only create one directory on one statement line at a time with MkDir. in the "var_dir_path" resides a part number that changes dynamically.

1) I need to add an edit check
2) have a copy of Active Workbook Path stamped onto spreadsheet with date and time to create a visual record of where the file has been saved (described after the code below).
1) I need to verify that two cells (S7 and S9) are not blank before running my code below (=IF(OR(S7<>"",S9<>""),RUN CODE,"You must select your Provider or Division before you can save this document")).
- If both of these cells are blank a message box should notify the user that they must select the provider and/or division before they can continue with the save.
- If one or more of these cells are not blank the code below should run.

I am using an XY scatter chart that displays the planned path and an actual path as I go. The planned path is set up in 100' increments and goes 12000' and actual path varies along the way.
My data that I use is the Northing (ft), Easting (ft) and Vertical Section (ft) for both the planned path and actual path.
I was wondering if there was an east way to get that information from the chart or if there is a formula that would allow me to calculate distance between the two points by using the data I use for my chart.

I would like to create a form to select some columns from a list of columns.
This could make it simpler for an end-user to chose which columns they want to see in my application.
(see my previous question: [url]
Ideally, I would prefer to do that just like rows can be selected in an Excel list.
However, I doubt this could be done.
So, to be practical, I would put a button on my sheet.
When the user clicks the button, a form would appear and show the current list of columns.
The user would mark or unmark to define his view and click ok to get the sheet with only the columns he wants.
The number of column in the table can change.
When the form loads it must determine what are the columns to include in the list (headers).
What I really don't know is which controls I should use on the form?
Are there some list control with tick marks available, for example?
Or, I might dream of a mark-enables combo box or list box, as can be seen often on the web.

I have a macro that creates a spreadsheet on a weekly basis and have been using it for quite sometime. Due to the large number of spreadsheets I would like to incorporate some code that would create a folder every month. I would assume that the code would need to include a check routine to see if a folder for that month exsists.

I have some code which, which I have modified it to create check boxes for all rows of data, but when I run it, it begins to wipe out the data, and create an endless column of numbers and check boxes. Here is the code:
Sub SelectCell()
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Dim Z As Range
Set Z = Cells(1, 1).EntireColumn. Find("*", SearchDirection:=xlPrevious)
For i = 2 To Z
Range("A" & i) = i
Set cll = Range("A" & i).Offset(0, 1)
For Each shp In ActiveSheet.Shapes
If Left(shp.Name, 8) = "CheckBox" And shp.TopLeftCell.Address = cll.Address Then
shp.Delete
Exit For.......................
I have tried to set it to recognize how many rows are filled with number, give that to variable Z and then apply the code but it simply does not work.

What I'm basically trying to do is make a code that looks at where the "x" values are in my range and if the month matches the current month, open a pop up that says "Service Required: Equipment Name" when the file is opened.
If it's any easier, an actual date could be written instead of an x.
An alert system for service required if you will. I have attached a file.

I have a variable ("DestFile") that defines a path to a file (used in saving the file)...
I'm in the process of getting a Sub to hyperlink to this file, but in some circumstances, I may only want to hyperlink to the folder, not the actual file...
How would I go about trimming the "DestFile" address to get a "DestFldr" address?...
An example of "DestFile" might be;
S:BryanFor KenGulf ConstructionST0609014-t.xls
(the file name length may vary)
What code can I use to consistently trim it back to;
S:BryanFor KenGulf Construction
as the "DestFldr" variable?

12 digit should be "###### ######"
13 digit should be "# ###### ######"
14 digit should be "# ## ##### ######"
these barcodes are in columns L, M, & N also right now 'm using a formula in another cell to verify the barcodes by calculating the check digit and comparing it to the check digit typed the formula i'm using is

If not, add onto a "counter" then display the final number of occupied cells (the value of the counter) at the end. This is what I have so far, but I get all sorts of errors.

Sub Tester()
Dim WB As Workbook
Dim WS As Worksheets
Dim modCounter As Long
Dim Cell As Range

Set WS = WB.Sheets(BM18)

I am creating a userform with 10 checkboxes. The first 9 checkboxes are user options. I want the 10th check box to be a "Select All" option i.e. if the 10th checkbox is checked all the other 9 options are deemed to have been selected.
The way I want the display to work is that if the 10th checkbox is ticked all other checkboxes are cleared. Also if the 10th checkbox is ticked and any of the other check boxes is selected then the 10th checkbox should be selected.
I have tried coding this up but the checkboxes don't seem to operate as desired. I placed some code on the click event for the last option button to set the vlaue for all other buttons to false. This works but the 10th check box doesn't get ticked itself. When I try to code up the other bit I get similar issues.
