Count Alternating Values In Column?

I'm sure there's a simple way to do this (I've been trying countif/match formulas but I'm not quite there)! I need to group line items with the same dollar value, WITHIN say 1 cent. If I do a pivot it will group exact matches, but I'm looking for the flexibility to group something within a few cents. So instead of pivots, I was trying to think of a formula that would do what Column A is doing below:

*I manually added Column A, looking for a formula that would group dollar values within 1 cent, assuming I've sorted Column B from smallest to largest:

Column A : Column B
1 : $2.13
1 : $2.14
2 : $3.00
2 : $3.01
2 : $3.01
3 : $4.00

Alternating Odd And Even Numbers?

I have a column (k) of 65,000 rows with numbers that are either positive or negative digits. The next column (L) has classified them as either 1 for positive number or 2 for negative.

There may be a run of all positive or all negative numbers or 2 positives and 3 negatives or any combination of positive and negative numbers reading down the column.

Reading down the column (from L1), I need to find any sequence of alternating 1 positive, followed by 1 negative or vice versa.

I am looking for evidence to find any sequence that has more than 2 alternations. (Remembering that positive is 1 and neg is 2)

That is, two or more alternations of a positive followed by a negative or neg followed by a positive.

Alternating Range Formatting

I'm writing a macro that’s taking user input (from a form I developed) and will generate a chart according to the input.

One requirement for this chart is that the background alternates fill colors between gray and white. Every four columns need to be either gray or white. Based on the duration the user entered, the width of this chart is created. The length (the number of rows) is constant.

I've tried different loops (for, if, do - you name it I tried) This loop is just out of my league. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Summary of Facts:
- Starting Point of Chart is B2 (the top left corner of the chart will be in B2)
- the number of columns is dynamic (based on user input)
- The rows are constant are (2 through 16)
- Every four columns need the fill color to be either gray or white

Calculating Values Across Different Sheets

I have a large spreadsheet with about 250 worksheets, each of which contains among other things a row of values that require further calculation (the values are being entered manually). The format of these rows is simple:

CodeH343B734G232L383N343M386
Count 1 3 2 4 3 2

Given that these rows are identical in size and they are in exactly the same cell positions in each of the 250 sheets, I need to find a way of getting each of the values entered in each of the 250 sheets automatically copied across to a different sheet and added to an existing total. In my limited understanding of Excel I consider such operation to be similar to a sum function which involves multiple cells in multiple sheets. Despite my best efforts I’ve yet to find a solution to what may be a very simple problem.

Calculating The Results Between Two Values

I have a spread sheet which is organised in date order column A and produces three signals Buy, Sell, No trade in column S. If i get a signal to buy or sell the price is taken in column T so i might have Buy - 1.9977. I wish to calculate the diff between the value taken to buy in this eg and deduct this value from the opp signal at some point ie a sell signal. Other buy signals and notrade signals should be ignored. The opposite is true for a sell signal

if a buy signal is generated then in this eg 19990-19977 gives the diff if selling then 19990-19955 gives the diff .

Depending on which country i selected in the pivot table and which category, the number of active companies are changed. Merging 2 Columns Into 1 Alternating Every Other Column

I'm looking for a way to put data into 1 column from 2 different columns, alternating every other row.

The data looks like this:
A B C
1 2
3 4
5 6

And I want C to look like this:

I don't necessarily need to keep the data in columns A and B, as long as C follows this format.

Excellent, just what I was looking for. I couldn't get the UDF working right, I'll try messing around with it, but the Index solution works great!

Sort Column In Alternating Manner

My source data I can't get to sort alternating on columns A and B, and I would like the data to alternate A-B-A-B-A-B while retaining the pairings of data in the adjacent fields. Is this possible?

Highlight Duplicated With Alternating Colors

I have a spreadsheet that contains thousands of rows and I need to highlight all the duplicates in Column B.

What I need though is one group o duplicates to be colored one color and then the next group of duplicates be colored a different color. I need just a 2 color banding.

My need for 2 colors is that the cells contain 9 digit numbers and there can be duplicate groups right next to each other and for the eye to distinguish a different grouping of cells I need that 2 color banding.

I have the below code that colors everything in one color. Can I be modified or a completely new code to do 2 colors?

Alternating Color For Groups Of Rows

My spreadsheet has rows with inspection numbers in column A, but there are varying numbers of rows associated with an inspection number. I'd like to change the color of the rows for every other inspection number to yellow using a formula. I think it has to involve an if/then statement but I can't figure out how to word the formula to just choose every other group of inspection numbers.

Copy Paste Alternating Rows

In column H I have dates from 1/1/2008 to 12/31/2013. What I would like to do is transfer that data to column J, but alternate it every other row and then insert the word Date into the blank cells. For instance J1 would read "Date" and then J2 would read 1/1/2008 J3 would be Date and J4 would be 1/2/2008. I have a large database and I tried to use array formulas and they slow it down to a crawl so I was working with DSUM, but I don't feel like wasting time with adding in Date manually.

Calculating A Total Of Different Cells With Less Or More Values

I'm trying to calculate total occurrences of a given month. I have included the spreadsheet for reference with totals.

I only want to calculate when the Policy column has a "N". If it has a "Y" I do not need to do anything

If the Policy has a "N" I want the formula to look at the V and P columns and give me a total in the Total Occurrence column. I want it to look at the entire month for a grand total.

If the V or P column has a 4 or less it should equal 0.5, if it has a value is between 4 and 10 it would equal 1. So in the Total Occurrence column should calculate the all of the 0.5 and 1's based on each set of columns and give a total. In the example that I have given in the spreadsheet the total in the Total Occurrence column would be 2 because Jan. 1 has a N and a 8 which equals 1 and Jan. 3 has a N and a 4 which equals 0.5 and Jan. 5 has a N and a 4 which equals 0.5 for a total of 2 occurrences.

I have employees that have different number of business days they work. I
need to be able to calculate when the employee has utilized a specific number
of business days specific to the days of the week they work and the number of
days per week work. For example, if I have an employee that works 3 business

Here's the formula I used: =IF('End of Month'!L3>=0,('End of Month'!L3-'End of Month'!N3),IF('End of Month'!L3>0,('End of Month'!L3-'End of Month'!M3),(0)))

Should return value 339.

The formula should simply take the current month value and subtract it from the previous month value BUT if the value is zero, then it should go to the prior month and so on until it retrieves a positive value.

I've also tried to following formula without any success:

Count Groups Of Alternating Rows Across 3 Columns?

I'm looking for a way to count groups of alternating rows of "TRUE" values across 3 columns. There will never be an occurrence of more than one "TRUE" value per row. In the sample below, alternating TRUE values occur in rows 4 through 7, so this would be counted with the groups of 4.

Adding Alternating Cells In Long List?

how to add alternating cells when all are numbers, e.g. B8 to KW8 are all numbers and I want to add B8, D8, F8, etc. until KV8 and then separately add C8, E8, G8, etc until KW8. Is there a more efficient way to do this than =sum(b8,D8, etc)? I also need to do the same with =counta(b8, d8, etc).

Select Alternating Columns With Unknown End Point

so I have been googling to figure out how to write a macro that will select every other column on my workbook. All that keeps coming up is conditional formatting, which I do not want. I am not trying to highlight the columns in alternating colors, I just want to select them.

I am starting at column F and I would like it to search until the end of the columns and select every other column ending with the last column with data in it.

I know I could search by a specific row and tell it to find the first blank cell then offset it, but there is no particular row that will always have data in it, so I guess it needs to check by column until it finds the first column without any data in all rows and then offset it.

Anyone know what I am talking about here?

I know it should be fairly simple but I couldn't seem to find any answers anywhere else.

Also, anyone know any good websites that have definitions for some basic macros? I'd love to start learning how to write this stuff on my own.

Quickly Select Cells In Alternating Rows

I am interested in selecting cells in alternating rows as follows:

12 Red Happy
00 Unique descriptor
13 Grn Sad
03 Unique descriptor
14 Yel Happy
02 Unique descriptor

I am interested in selecting all the "12, 13, etc", "Red, Grn, ..." and "Happy, Sad..." for analysis, but want to skip all the rows containing the 0- numbers and the descriptors for them. How do I quickly select only the alternating cells in a column within a selection?

One Of The Values On Pivot Table Not Calculating Properly?

This pivot table is used to track referrals for an employment service, and needs to show monthly totals of referrals, enrolments, cancellations and placements.

I have the referral date as one of the row lables, but it seems that each of the others now only reflectes back to that date rather than the date entered in that value

EG:

5 clients referred in September, One was placed in October, 2 in December and 1 in Jan but the totals for placed are all showing in September rather than the month the clinet was placed.

Calculating Rolling Average Ignoring 0 Values

What I have is a spreadsheet with a whole bunch of sporting data on it. see attachment for an idea of the layout, Stats.jpg

In these data each round a player is given a rating. What I want to do is calculate is the average rating for each player across the last 3 and 5 games they have played. When a player misses a game they get a rating of 0 for the round. I want 0 ratings to be ignored in the running averages. Additionally, games yet to be played have a 0 in the cell and should be ignored. To get overall averages ignoring 0's was simple I used the averageif function, but I couldn't figure out how to use that but only extract the last 3 non 0 values. I currently have data up to round 12, so if a player has played in 12, 11 and 10 then the 3 round average should just be the average of these 3, but if they missed for example round 11 then the 3 round average should return the average of 9, 10 and 12.

The data is set out in the following way.

In column B I have a list of player names from cells B3:B618.

Across row 1 from N1:AM1 are labels "round 1" "round 2" etc.

The ratings for each player in each round are in N-AM and from 3-618. i.e. N3:AM3 contains the weekly rating for player 1, 4 contains player 2 etc.

I would like the 3 round averages to be returned for each player in column L and 5 round averages in column M.

Formula For Calculating Sorted List Of Values

I am currently using a pivot to return and populate the required data but this does not refresh correctly and returns zero values every time this report is refreshed. I am therefore hoping that there is a way to calculate this using formulas .

The following applies:
The attached document has 2 tabs: Date AND Report
The Data tab feeds the report tab
The REPORT tab has 2 reports in it but doing the first one then I should be able to do the second one. If you look at the first table you will see the data that needs to be populated. I have added a highlighted (in YELLOW) row at the bottom of this table which shows you which columns populate what column

Requirement:
I am after something that will populate this table in a descending order - IE: the figures in the DATA tab Column BE should be sorted from highest to lowest. It must be filtered to the top 30 results only and then all the other columns must be populated.

Column H in the REPORT tab should be formatted to [h]:mm
Column F & G in the REPORT tab should be formatted to dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm

If I have a list of 6 values and a number that I want to get as near to as possible (above or below) using any, and as many as needed, of these 6 values - is there a way of calculating the nearest value? And, if there is, is there also a way of showing which values would be used?

Example:
Value 1 = 0.190
Value 2 = 0.278
Value 3 = 0.593
Value 4 = 1.079
Value 5 = 2.075
Value 6 = 2.998

Value I want to get as near to as possible = 3.644

Calculating On Values On Calender That Meet A Given Criteria

I find this difficult to explain, so have attached an example. I need to total all entries on a calender that are entered after a specific date. EG:

If the given date is 15 Sept 08, I need all values in Sept - Mar to be totalled. I am measuring data on numerous spreadsheets, all others have specific start dates and finish dates, so its a simple a1-b1 to get the number of days, multiplied by costs. This particular spreadsheet is laid out in calender format, hence the problem)
