Cannot Access Minimized Excel Pages From Windows Task Bar

Sep 3, 2013

After minimizing my Excel form, I'm trying to re access it from the windows task bar. If I click on the Excel tab it shows me the 2 excel files I have open. I would normally just click on one of those and that sheet would be brought up, but I can't get either of them up - as soon as I click on one or other of them the window just minimizes again.

VBA Recognize Windows User Accounts And Allow Edit Access

Jul 22, 2009

I'm working on protecting a spreadsheet to where only certain people would be allowed to unprotect and edit it... I've used a standard password protection and created a userform prompting for password and unlocking the sheet, and this works fine.

On the other hand, I was interested if it's possible to write the code to where once the "unprotect" button is clicked it would seek User Account name from windows and try to match it with a list of users somewhere within the workbook. This way the user wouldn't be prompted for a password, but rather the unlocking would simply work or not depending on user account.

Excel 2010 :: OnTime Macro Stops Running When Window Minimized

Dec 12, 2013

I am using Excel2010.

My sheet displays values collected from a database via an AddIn. The values are updated by pressing CTRL+G (AddIn function).

I have an OnTime macro running SendKeys "^G" to update the values every minute. When the values exceed a certain limit, a sound is played from a custom Alarm function.

This all works as long as the excel window is active.

But if excel is minimized or another window is opened, the values stop updating until Excel is active again.

When the values dont update the sound is not played and that defeats the purpose of the sheet.

From PDF To Excel - Any Way To Automate This Task

Jun 6, 2013

I have a PDF sheet with info laid out like this:

Code:
Peter Paul Mary
Text Corporation
One two three street
Mars, New York 90000 USA
phone: (111) 555-2222
email: tellmewhy@yahoo.com

There are 10 names and addresses like this on each PDF page and the entire PDF file has 50 pages so to manually copy and paste each bit of info into separate cells on the spreadsheet's appropriate cells "Name, Company, Address, State, Phone, Email" e.t.c is too difficult.

Close Excel Using Task Scheduler

Jun 27, 2012

I currently use task scheduler to open a a spreadsheet at 4am every morning and run a macro. This macro refreshes data pulled from an accounting software. The macro also closes the spreadsheet at a specific time. After this is complete I have task scheduler open a separate spreadsheet and runs a macro to pull the data from the first spreadsheet into a dashboard presentation of sales data.

This all works fine...what I am looking to do is make sure both instances of excel get closed. Currently, this whole process is complete around 6am and when I get to work around 7 or 8 am there are two instances of excel still open. The workbooks are closed but excel is still open. When I am in the office I can just close these instances of excel but if I am out of the office these two instances of excel stay open and mess things up for the next mornings refresh.

Is there a way to make sure both instances of excel get closed? I am using the code below to close the spreadsheets.

Code:
Sub Closeworkbook()
ActiveWorkbook.Close True
End Sub

CPU Usage Shown On Task Manager Is 99 For Excel File?

Jan 13, 2012

Some of my excel files, which are not massive seem to crash my computer when saving or recalulating or even using some filters. The files show as not responding for a couple of mins then come back to life after completing the requested action. Often this is not a complicate task that can cause this.

When this is happening the CPU usage shown on task manager is 99 for the excel file.

This doesn't happen on any other program, I can use word and powerpoint etc with no issues. Its just excel that my computer has a problem with.

This is really frustrating as I can end up twiddling my thumbs for 5 mins unable to do anything, when I just want the file to save or re calculate. I already use manual calculation on anything file more than 500 lines to work with the situation.

Excel 2007 :: (Cannot Complete Task With Available Resources) When Trying To Delete Rows

Jul 11, 2012

I have VBA code that attempts to delete an entire row from my worksheet:

Code:
Cells(3,1).Select
Selection.EntireRow.Delete

This works fine on small data sets, but on larger data sets it gives me the error message, "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources". This happens even when I try to do the deletion manually (without VBA code). Clearly, the code itself is not the problem.

My document has about 250,000 rows and 2,500 columns. While this is big, it is significantly smaller than Excel's documented limit of 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns.

I am using Excel 2007. My computer has 2GB of RAM but even when I try it on a computer which has 8GB of RAM it gives me the same error. If I "ClearContents" instead of "Delete" it works fine. For my purposes, however, deletion is entirely necessary.

Excel 2007 :: No Secondary Windows Appearing?

Apr 18, 2013

My Excel gets stuck in a strange world sometimes where it seems like a pop-up blocker is turned on. By this I mean that i can't get question alerts to show in Excel. My only relief has been to reboot.

Here's what I mean - I generally see this two different times:

If I'm in a document that I've modified and click the "X" to exit the file - it never asks me to save, just closes without saving.

When I do a "find" on an item, I do get the first box where I can specify my search criteria. If there is a match, it will take me to the match if I do a find next. However, if I do a find all or there is not match, nothing else happens. I can see the cell addresses flickering in the name box.

Launching Excel In Separate Windows As Default?

Aug 16, 2012

Each time I click on an Excel file the worksheet will open up within an existing Excel worksheet that I have open. This is frustrating when you are working with two monitors or screens (laptop screen and additional monitor) and want to view each worksheet separately in separate screens. What I end up doing, which is not efficient, is I'll open the second worksheet which will open up in an existing worksheet that I have open and then I'll close it, and then launch a separate Excel worksheet and pull open the recent file and I'll have two open worksheets (not within same Excel worksheet I already have open). This allows me to grab and pull one worksheet in a separate screen and leave the other as I need both open on two monitors.

Question: is there a way to default Excel when opening or double clicking an Excel file to automatically open in a separate instance of Excel and not in an existing open worksheet?

Excel 2010 :: VBA Macro To Synchronize Windows Folders

Apr 19, 2013

Working with Windows 7 and Office 2010

I've created a Excel workbook with VBA code to synchronize an Access database between a laptop and a server. One of the fields in the database is a shortcut to a jpg for each record. (The Access stuff is not too important here)

Now I'd like to add the ability synchronize the photos between the laptop and the server; so people who use the server can view the photos added by the laptop and vice versa.

Something like:

Code:
For each [JPG] in [LaptopFolder]
If not [JPG] exists in [ServerFolder] then
filecopy [LaptopFolder][JPG], [ServerFolder][JPG]
end if
next [JPG]

That code wouldn't work.

Excel 2010 :: Get Total Number Of Pages To Be Printed

Sep 7, 2012

I need a method or function that can count the TOTAL number of pages to that will be printed. I don't need anything with HPageBreaks or Get.document(50, ""sheet name"")") for these don't seem to work on my worksheet.

All they seem to do is give me a number lower then the number of pages that will be printed and they are dependent on where the active cell is.

Here is my code that does not work.

Code:
Agreement_Page_Count = ExecuteExcel4Macro("Get.document(50,""Signature Page"")")
and
Code:
Function HowManyPagesBreaks(sSheet As Worksheet)
Dim iHpBreaks As Integer, iVBreaks As Integer
Dim iTotPages As Integer
With sSheet

[Code] ........

Both codes return 2 when there are 3 pages that can be printed. Unless I pause the code select the cell at the bottom of my sheet (it ignores it if I use use a macro to select the bottom cell) and then continue my code.

I've tried it with and without the entirerow.hidden.

Is there a way of bypassing everything and using a marco to open up page preview and getting the total number of page to be printed? I'm using excel 2010
