I have no knowledge of VB programming and the conditional formatting seems limited. I want to change to the color of cells to yellow if the cell value is greater than 80 but less than 99, and if it is 100 or greater to fill red. Is this possible and if so can it be applied to a range of cells?
View 3 RepliesI would like to automatically color fill a series of rows based on like information from a single column. When the information in the column changes then the rows would either stop filling (this would be best) or fill with a different color until the information changes again.
Summary: series of alternating rows would either be filled or unfilled based on changes from the column information.
Hope this isn't too confusing. Below is an example except I would want the cells filled, not the text or numbers to change. The highlight is changing based on the changing of the numbers.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Excel 2010 and basically i am trying to fill a range of cell with a green color if any value was enter in a specific cells. Example: I would like to fill range: A10:c13 with a green color (regardless of the cells content in this range) if a value was entered in cell C10 or C11 or C12 or C13.
I've tried conditional formatting but unfortunately I'll have to apply formatting for every cell and for a range of over hundred cells is not efficient.
I am getting with the great user defined function (SumColor) you posted here and that I have modified a bit to suit my need. I have a spreadsheet thanks to which I calculate the total cost of a product (find spreadsheet attached below). There are three types of costs:
1. Amortization: always start with AMOXXXXX which I locate in the end of the spreadsheet
2. Assemblies: always start with a 99XXX or 98XXX
3. Components: any other notation (90, 91, 92, etc.)
Each product can have until 5 levels of subassemblies:
1. Level 0: always located in row 8 with big bold letters
2. Level1: cells in yellow (color index = 36).................
how can I automatically fill cells with certain colors based on the value of the cell. (i.e. I want to search an entire workbook and fill cells with values between 80 and 99 green, 60 to 79 yellow and 0 to 59 red.)

in this example i want to fill color any row that in column 2 has a number less than -1 and greater than 4.
I want cells containing the same contents to fill with the same color. But I want different colors for each matched set. I know I can match text to a color, but I may have 100 possible items and to create matches for all 100 would be time consuming and there are not enough colors. I just want random colors picked by excel to create some visual separation to similar cells.

I am trying to create a model that has a mixture of conditional formatting and data validation formulas within it, but have run into a problem in one area. Essentially, cell E10 is a Validation which pulls a drop down list of names. One of the options in this list is "Other".
I want to create a VBA code to make sure that cell E12 will get rid of any input, turn grey (color index = 15), and potentially lock (if possible!) if the "Other" is chosen by the user in cell E10. If any other value is chosen for cell E10, Cell E12 needs to remain unlocked and white (color index=2).
I need to fill 2 other cells with varying colours dependant on what is chosen within another cell.
I have a drop-down list in cell A2 to select either ON SITE, ACTIVE or CANCEL.
What I need then basically is...
if A2 equals 'ON SITE' then fill other two cells (A3 and B1) GREEN
if A2 equals 'ACTIVE' then fill other two cells (A3 and B1) YELLOW
if A2 equals 'CANCEL' then fill other two cells (A3 and B1) RED

I have a calendar set up with dates going along P6:CU6. Column C9:C27 has various status' for the job such as "Complete" or "In Progress" etc. Next to that in rows D and E I have start and end dates for the job. What I am trying to do is change the fill colour of the empty cells that are in line with each job, so that between the correct dates they are the corresponding colour to the status. So a complete job on row 9 that started on 26/05/14 and finished on 28/05/14 would have three green cells along Q9, R9, and S9.
I have tried an IF/AND/OR statement which looks like this:

I am getting a #VALUE! data type error, I have tried reformatting the cells to various date formats but no luck so far. This could be because my dates are set up as =P6+1 etc. but I am not sure. The error only occurs when the cell falls within the dates, otherwise it remains blank.
I intend to hide the value in the cell and use conditional formatting to change the cell colour based on the hidden input.
Once this is working I also need to take weekends into account, column G has any 2 value combination of Y and N to say whether the employee is working Saturday, Sunday or both. Row 7 has a "1" value underneath every Saturday and a "2" underneath every Sunday. I can imagine how this would work but combining it with the above formula could be complicated.
Let's say I have column C blank, but every time it's filled in with something I want column A to be today's date and B to be current time. Unfortunately, the functions NOW() and TODAY() don't give me what I want. They get recalculated every time that I update the spreadsheet.
Another thing that I can do is just press ctrl+shift+; to generate a non changing date/time, but I want it to happen automatically (being super lazy).
I am looking for code that would delete all columns in a worksheet that do not contain a fill color.

I have an excel sheet in which many cells have a background color of Green. These cells are located all over the sheet. I want to change the background color from Green to Red not affecting the color of other cells in the sheet.
I will be realy really thankful, as I have to do this exercise for more than 50 worksheets.......If I start doing it manually by selecting each celll with green color background and changing it to red.....you can well imagine my condition.....my life would get shorten significantly while doing this.
I want to highlight the cell of Column 'A' of excel only when it does not contain the text like "Verify", "Validate" or "Evaluate" in its content if, the value in corresponding cell of Column 'B' holds the value 'Y'. Afternoon everyone i am having abit of trouble working on an excel 2007 spreadsheet. In cell I1 i have a tab called Color. i want the cells below I1 to be filled with one of 3 colors green, yellow, or red depending on whats in cell F "Status" (closed or open - in progress) and cell G ECD for estimated completion date.
Green - i need it to fill green if status is closed. Yellow - need it to fill yellow if ECD is any date greater than today and if status is open. Red - need it to fill red if ECD is todays date or older and status is open.
I have information in A1. I want A1 to look at B2:B5 and D2:D5 (Under conditional formatting) and if there is one or more "X" in those cells to color A1 Grey (Fill). I keep trying to put a formula under conditional formatting, but it is only working for the first cell (B2) and not the rest.

It is intended to change the font colour to white when the cell = "AUTO". It does, but it also changes the contents of the cell (like NA, and NR) to white when they aren't equal to AUTO.

I've tried using "ActiveRange" in lieu of "ActiveCell" as well as other commands that would seem to be correct but have failed.
I copy/paste a good enough information and i like to separate these automated information into different colored rows using keyboard shortcuts. I can't use Conditional Formatting, because i have to investigate each piece of information before I color it a certain color.
