Most of the chart has Arial font formatting, but I need to change the formatting of a few characters in the legend:
I know that i can change the formatting of the whole legend, and even different entries in the legend. Is it possible to change the font of just a couple of characters in one legend entry?
Elements I need to change are:
Font type (eg from arial to symbol)
Size (varying from 8 to 14)
Bolding etc.
So i deleted a chart legend - is there a way to get this back or do you have to start all over again?

I am trying to chart data from a single cell that is changing over time. The cell is linked to another software program that provides its value. I would like to be able to chart the changes in its value either every time it changes or on some time interval (i.e. every 3 minutes).

However, I have some of the cells setup as formulas....but worksheet_change apparently only updates values when manually changed.
I have 10 graphs with more than 20 legend entries. However, each graph only needs 3-4 elements out of the 20 legend entries in the graph. Is there any way to force Excel to only show those legend entries that have a value? (without deleting them manually)

At the moment I am having to click on source data and edit each label individually... Is there a quicker way?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have charts that needs to be placed on specific position and have specific sizes on a chartsheet. I use chartobjects(i).plotarea (top, left, width, height) for that.
Unfortunately when I set these values they still change and get antoher value, there is some scaling going on in Excel and I do not know where that comes from. I have been looking on the internet and finally I found a piece of code which works, but still not good enough, because the legend is also not good positioned.
De data for resizing the charts (ChtNew), the legends and the charttitle I get from other charts (ChtOrig). The legend.legendposition of ChtOrig does not have a value but it still have a top,left,height en width which I use.
I show you my code, the part with the for-next is taken from the internet.

see this example of a chart: see Image1.gif (the right thumbnail) as you can see 2 different types of graphs are combined: "lines with markers" and "clustered column".
in the legend one can see that the order inside the legend is clustered by the two types. within a type i can change the order easily (right click on a line or column - format data series - series order - up or down).
question: i would like to change the order freely. how to do this? for the order inside the legend i actually do not care at all, whether a representation of the data is a line or a column. i only want to make it as readable as possible. example what i'd like to get (made by handmodifing the picture with a drawing program): see Image3.gif (the left thumbnail)
I have a chart that combines 2 xy plots and a set of stacked columns ( total of 4 series).
I can adjust the series ordering between the 2 xy plots, and between the stacked columns, but not for all 4 at the same time.
I'd like the legend to show up as:
Series1, Series2, Series3, Series4
where 1 and 2 are the xy plots and 3 & 4 are the components of the stacked columns.
It is currently:
Series3, Series4, Series1, Series2
Any idea how to re-order the legend entries?
The order of entries in my chart legend make no sense to me. Why is it not matching the order of the source data?

=IF(B12="","",IF(B12<2,-1,INT(B12/5)))
What I want to do is if cell B3 equals a text value of the word "All" then cell B12 would display nothing. If B3 equals any other value then the math formula above be used.
I'm having to re-learn formula commands in order to continue to use my spreadsheets (I had tried to get the Quattro Pro converter to work in Excel 2003 with no success). Actually, I would have stayed with QP since I find it much more user friendly, but with Excel being the standard spreadsheet that most people use, I figured I better get used to it. Anyway, I'm currently trying to find out how I might get the same text that shows up in varying cells in an otherwise blank column (other cells contain formulas, but no text) to also show up in another fixed cell (which can be where I put this formula).

If in Column B, cell B2 states "Mileage", Column C, cell C2 needs to say "Please enter Start and Destination...". I want column C (cell C2) to be my input cell as well hence the reason i'm avoiding the use of an IF formula.
I'm open to a VBA solution if this works? Tried conditional formatting however it will only display colours, not text?

What can I do to display the cell the way that I want to? I've already tried formatting the cell directly as Date to no avail.
I have an XML file which I can open in Excel as an XML table. When I try to insert a chart from any of the data, a chart appears but the data appears as the legend but not as any lines on the chart. The column headings, which would normally appear as the legend, do not appear. The chart itself is blank. Does anyone have any ideas of a way to solve this?

I have 2 columns of dates on which 2 separate events occur, e.g columns 1 is dates of receiving incoming calls (and there can be multiple incoming calls , so there are multiple rows with same date) and the other column is dates of outgoing calls (same deal of having multiple rows with same date, each row = 1 outgoing call). I want to plot both as line graphs and find out where they intersect , each one peaks and tapers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a workbook, which I use for different departments that displays a number of different pie charts and I have found that a particular pie chart omits a specific label repeatedly. The pie chart displays the wedge within the chart itself, but does not display the label. At the moment I have data labels with percentages. All other labels display, of which there are 7. I found a solution that fixes the problem each time it arises and that is to select Chart Tools/Format/Series 1 data labels and then Format Selection. When I then select any data label, I click on "Clone Current Label" and the missing label appears with the correct percentage amount. I use the workbook for multiple uses and rather than have it present as a template (*.xltm), it is a macro-enabled spreadsheet (*.xlsm). Could this be related to the problem?

Can a macro loop through each page field and print?Is there a way to send them to the printer all at once? (I noticed the printer hangs when manually printing page by page)
I've tried "view all pages of pivottable" but then I lose the view of the chart. I tried recording the events but the number of items in the page field changes with each data update and I'm not sure how to write code to accept this.
I'm using Windows XP with MS Excel 2003. I have a pivot table representing a survey. Let's say I've built the survey outside of excel and I've imported the response data into Excel. One of the questions in the survey is "ratings" and the possible valid responses for it is: "Excellent", "Good", or "Poor". In my data set in excel let's say I have 10 responses or rows and all the responses for the question on ratings are either "Excellent" or "Good". (There are no rows with a "Poor" value in the ratings column).
For example, let's say out of the 10 responses, 6 are "Excellent" and 4 are "Good". As such my Pivot chart shows two bars: one for the number of respones with "Excellent" (10) and another bar for the number of responses with "Good" (4). My delima is how to show a third bar showing "Poor" with a zero as the number of responses.
I think looking at the attachment might make more sense, but here is a brief description of what I want to do. I am trying to change the colour of a cell based on looking up the value contained in that cell in a predefined list (which in my example I have called a legend). I need to do this in VBa but my VBA is not at all good.

I would need to use this small code in Charts with different Scales as some of the Scales in my Data are in a very large Range close to Trillions so its not possible to have these as the Primary-Y-Axis Scale and therefore I would need to use the in-built Display label option which Excel provides..
However, I always prefer to have the scale in the Range of Thousands so the Max I can have in the Scale can be 10,000 so if there is any Number more than that or the Scale is going above than I would prefer that this gets auto-calculated to Multiply with the remainder and show appropriate Scaling.
For Ex:In this example My largest Number is 4500000000 which is 100 M..So I would want the scale to show 4500 and the Display label as X Millions..
So The Display Label would be different for different Ranges but the Max Scale preffered would be 10,000.
