Column Fill Colors In A Column Chart When Some Columns Are Hidden
Jul 13, 2014
When I hide columns in a column chart the different fill colors I used on specific columns no longer show up with the colors I originally had. Is there a way to maintain the proper sequence of column fill colors even when some columns are hidden?
I have a worksheet with 20+ columns. For this macro, I only need to focus on 4 of them. However, none of these columns are ever in a fixed position so the macro would need to find them by name and NOT by column position. Here they are...
1. Vacation Type (will only have a text value of either "Cold" or "Warm")
2. Vacation Started (will always have a date *x/xx/xxxx)
3. Vacation Ended (sometimes it will have a date '*x/xx/xxxx' and sometimes it will NOT have a date and will be truly blank)
4. Number of Days (currently has ALL truly blank cells)
THIS WHOLE MACRO SHOULD NOT BE CASE SENSITIVE ANYWHERE
Here's what I would like the macro to do...
Scenario 1 - for "Cold" values Find "Cold" text values in the "Vacation Type" column "Cold" values WITH a date in the "Vacation Ended" columnIF there IS a date in the "Vacation Ended" column in the same row, put the number of days difference between the "Vacation Started" column and "Vacation Ended" column in the "Number of Days" column.
The amount of days in the "Number of Days" column will determine whether these cells should be highlighted GREY or RED.
A) IF the number of days difference is 7 days or less, highlight the cells in the "Vacation Ended" column and "Number of Days" column RED. OR..............................
I am a new member, with not a lot of VBA experience. Sorry for the vague title .. couldn't come up with something ^^". The idea is, I made an list with several anime titles I am watching (in column A) In column G it shows the status; "Watching", "Completed", "Planning to Watch", "On-Hold" or "Dropped". I managed to let the colors of those words change with this
What I would like to do with it is fill in row D7 to AH7 with this formula without changing the row reference in the IF function, only the column reference.
On the Activity_Log worksheet, my data is listed from cell C2:C32, which is selected from a drop down list, and F2:F32, which contains the formula =(E2-D2)*24.
I've attached a sample : Sample_MonthlyReport.xlsx
I have a control chart macro which is being used for patient doses of a medication. Right now my macro automatically fills columns D-N down to row 100. However, I would like it to stop at the last row of data entered in column A. I have attached the code related to the formulae a
I have mapped data from Sheet1 to Sheet2 and created graphs in Sheet2 using the data. but when I hide the rows in Sheet2 the Graph is being cleared off. Need a solution so as to display the Graph in Sheet2 while hiding the rows in the same sheet.
I want to show 8 members of staff's names, with their sales closing percentages. I want then to produce a chart showing their percentages as a column with a line showing 16% going across the chart showing who is above and who is below the target.
Ideally i would also like to change the colour of the columns or background of those below the line to show who is under target.
Column A | Column B | Column C Los Angeles | Fire Dept | 3 Los Angeles | Health Services | 12 New York | Fire Dept | 8 New York | Health Services | 22 New York | Internal Services | 100 New York | Public Works | 7 Chicago | Health Services | 15 Chicago | Public Works | 56 Chicago | Social Services | 4
And I am trying to make it look like this:
Fire Dept Health Services Internal Services Public Works Social Services
Column A is "Customer Number" Column B is "Date Can Opened" Column C is "Month" (currently blank except header row) Column D is "Year" (currently blank except header row)
I would like a macro to do 2 things here....
1. Extract the Month part of the "Date Can Opened" column and put it in column C.
2. Extract the Year part of the "Date Can Opened" column and put it in column D.
Currently, the "Date Can Opened" column is formatted as a date like */14/01 taken from the Number tab in the Format Cells dialog box) ...
I have a worksheet with Coulmn A and B , wherein , Column A has a list of values that can be duplicated. Based on the values in Column A, I want to fill corresponding cells in Column B. see the attached.
I am after a macro to insert a column lets say between column A and B. Once column inserted new column B should be filled by a text say "January" but it should be only filled upto the data of column A so if column A has data upto A600 then column B should be filled from B1 to B600.
I am trying to have some automation to my WS and what I want to do, is if a certain column (column 104) is changed, it will fill out that column with the data entered as long as the account is the same (column 5). Here is the code I tried, but realized very quickly, it puts me into a loop. This is being called by a change worksheet fuction
If Target.Column = 104 Then If IsEmpty(Target) Then Else testacct = Cells(Target.Row, 5) temptest = testacct s_TempSwitch = Target.Value Testoffset = 0 Do While temptest = testacct temptest = Cells(Target.Row + Testoffset, 5) Cells(Target.Row + Testoffset, 104).Value = s_TempSwitch Testoffset = Testoffset + 1 Loop End If End If
I have a list that is streets and addresses. All contained in column A. Cell A1 is the street name and then Column A3 is the street number. This repeats down column A for almost 1000 street names. I need to fill column B3 with the street name, as well as B4, B5, B6, etc until the street name changes. I was trying to do this with an if..then but couldn't get it to work. I also tried to work on a do.. loop looking for the change from a string to number. But my programming is a little rusty. If anyone can help I was be forever grateful. I mean the alternative is to sit here and copy and paste all day.
I am looking for a macro that will fill the column C by looking at column A at another workbook.
For example:
Full workbook: A(column that will look) B C blala blabla Blabla
Workbook missing entries in C row: A B C blabla blabla Null
So the workbook that missing entries in Column C,will look for it,by looking at at column A,wich is the same at full workbook.
Here the workbook wich the values will be taken at Column A, named as archive
And the the workbook (named 900066_027_2373.xls)wich the column C will be filled,by looking at column A.Then find that code in the "archive.xls".See what has in it's A cell.Copy it.Paste it in current cell.
Let's say I have a list in worksheet 1. It's in column A, starts in row 1 and goes.
Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Purple
In worksheet 2 I want to list in row 1, starting with column A, which colors have a value next to them. I want the list to match the first worksheet's order. I'm looking for a formula solution.
Example 1 WS 1 Red 3 Orange 4 Yellow 5 Green Blue 1 Purple..........
I have a data base in which I classify cells in three colors (green, yellow, and red) on my own. I would like the first cell in each column to indicate if there is a red or yellow cell in it's column. Because red cells are more important then yellow cells, if there is a yellow and a red cell in the column, I would like the red to over ride the yellow and the first cell would indicate red.
So basically, if there is a red cell in the column, no matter what other colors there are, the first cell should show red. If there is only yellow or yellow and green cells, the first cell should show yellow. If there are only green cells or green cells and clear, the first cell should show clear.
I have to make a macheine cycle chart. I have a column containing Step Names and a column containing step time in whole seconds. I need to paste the step names across Row 1 and whole numbers counting to X down colum A. I then need to have each second represented by coloring the cell, for example, Step 1 is 1 sec. and Step 2 is 2 sec. if "Step 1" is in B1 I need B2 colored then for "Step 2" in C1 i need C3-4 highlighted and so on for a variable number of steps. This is my first question so I hope I was clear enough. With this much programed I will be able to make simple changes to tweak it to fit my needs.
I need to fill in one column (a county code) based off of the contents of another column (the State). Something that would generally be easily solved through a VLookup. However I want the macro I write to be usable in other workbooks where the columns may not appear in the same order or with the same spacing (slightly different names may be possible too but we'll look over this for now). I have the columns named by their heading, but then I need the macro to go down the two rows, filling in 998 in the county code column, if the state is not OH.
Dim x As Integer Dim STcode As Range Dim CnTcode As Range
For x = 0 To ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count If STcode.Cells(x, "State").Value <> "OH" Then CnTcode.Cells(x, "County_Code").Value = "998" End If Next x
I know that there is a problem in the logic because "State" and "County Code" are ranges, so excel doesn't like me referencing them as columns.
when I copy a worksheet from one workbook to another, the colors on the sheet in the destination workbook, become dull/faded. They actually change from the original colors to some off colors. I copy by selecting the source sheet, hold down ctrl key, then drag from one workbook to another). Also, is there a way to get the sheet back to the original colors.
is there a code to hide specific columns that i dont really need. i dont want to delete them, just hide them. even if i try to unhide them manualy from Format- Unhide they dont unhide. These columns stay hidden at all time.
I have autofiltered a column to meet a certain criteria (which hides some of the rows), then I want to put a cell with the sum at the bottom of that column. When I do this, it takes the sum of all of the rows in that column, even the rows that are hidden. Is there a way to only take the sum of the rows showing?
1. find the last cell used in a column when the rows that contain the data are hidden. I tried using Range("A65536").End(xlup).Select. but when the rows are hidden it doesn't give me the last cell used.
2. I am trying to restrict my search to just one row. When I try using the cells.find function it looks for the whole sheet but I just want it to search for some particular data in just one row or a specified range.
Is there a way to lock a column hidden so that it can't be unhidden? Maybe with a password? I tried saving the file with a password but I could still go in and "unhide" that column.
There are groups of similar ID numbers in Column J. For a group of similar ID numbers in consecutive rows there is only one row that has a number greater than 0 in its Column L cell and the rest of the cells of Column L for that set of similar IDs is filled with 0s.
First for that unique ID group I need to find out which row is it that has a value greater than zero in its Column L cell.
Then I need to use that value to fill the rest of the 0s in Column L corresponding to that set of Unique IDs.
The process continues with identifying similar IDs in Column J and this time doing the same thing for their Column M. I have attached a sample file that shows the data and how the results need to look like.
