Fill Column B Based On Non-unique Values In Column A?
Apr 21, 2014
I have a worksheet with Coulmn A and B , wherein , Column A has a list of values that can be duplicated. Based on the values in Column A, I want to fill corresponding cells in Column B. see the attached.
I need to create a drop-down (or a combo list) list based on a column in a separate worksheet (in the same workbook). The values in the column have many duplications, and I simply want the combo box to return a unique list.
After trying this using various options like drop-down boxes, combo boxes etc it does not seem to work. A drop-down box will return a complete list (including all of the duplicates). In addition the drop-down was linked to a cell and the value returned to the cell was a number based on the position in the list when what I actually wanted was the text. For example - my list in Worksheet 2:
PETS Cat Dog Dog Cat Horse Rabbit...
In Worksheet 1 if I choose 'Dog' from my Combo box (or drop-down) along with showing all of the duplicates it returns '3', instead of what I want 'Dog' and no duplicates.
I'm running into an issue trying to calculate unique values in a Data column based on a few variables in other columns.
My current formula in Summary tab D4:D19 is {=SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(IF(Data!$I$3:$I$66<$E$1,IF(Data!$A$3:$A$66=$H$1, IF(Data!$C$3:$C$66=A4,ROW(Data!$I$3:$I$66)))),ROW(Data!$I$3:$I$66)),1)) + SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(IF(Data!$I$3:$I$66<$E$1,IF(Data!$A$3:$A$66=$I$1, IF(Data!$C$3:$C$66=A4,ROW(Data!$I$3:$I$66)))),ROW(Data!$I$3:$I$66)),1))}
This is currently counting the number of times a date value (data column I) appears for that name (A4:A19) in the data when meeting all of the conditions. I need it to instead count the number of times a unique date appears for that name with the additional conditions met (which all appear to work fine).
The results in the pink highlighted cells (Summary column D) should be:
Names starting with A - 3 All others - 2
I've left some other columns in the data with X's so that I can easily convert this back to my working spreadsheet.
I have a workbook with about 10000 rows of data for about 100 suppliers in Sheet1 and about 15000 rows of same Suppliers payment details in sheet2.
What I am doing now is:-Filter every supplier names in Column A of sheet1, copy all the rows and paste in sheet1 of a new workook & Again copy the Payment details of a same supplier from master file sheet2 and paste the same in sheet2 of this new workbook then save the files with the supplier name as file name in my documents folder code, that filters each suppliers data from sheet1 & 2 and paste in new workbook sheet1 & 2.
I've got two columns, one with policy numbers, the other with error codes.
A policy could be in the list more than once, so I'm counting the number of unique policy numbers with the function
=SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(A10:F10000,A10:A10000)>0,1))
I want to count the number of errors that are NOT code 00 or code 21. Because the error codes are saved as text, I'm counting the number of errors with
The problem is that since a policy number could be listed twice, when I count the errors, I might be counting the same policy as an error twice. This means that I could feasibly end up with more errors than I have unique policies, which doesn't work.
What I'd like to do is only count the number of errors that have unique policy numbers. That is, I only want to count an error the first time it is in the list, based off it's policy number. Is that possible?
I have a worksheet (say, Sheet1) that I am going to manually import a large data set into on a weekly basis for reporting purposes. One of the columns from this data dump will have the header "Design Id" in the first row, but it may not be in the same column every time. I am trying to figure out how to create dropdown lists on a separate worksheet (say, Sheet2) in the same workbook where the data source always looks up the column containing the header "Design Id" from Sheet1 and then returns only the unique values from that column as options in the list.
I am able to quite easily count the number of specific values in a cell after the table has been filtered. However, the problem I have run into is that some times the data needs to be placed into the spreadsheet twice (or to be more specific the same subject is associated with several unique data points).
What I need: some way to count the instance of some give value in column D only once based on the presence of a duplicate (unique) identifier in column C. However, when I filter the entire database, it must count *only* the filtered cells and not the hidden cells as well.
Picture: Column C Column D 111111 M 111111 M 111111 M
[Code]....
Currently calculates: M=9, F=2
Right now it incorrectly states there are 9 "M" from column D when it really should be 5 since 3 are duplicate values. My main difficulty is making sure this continues to work after I filter the entire sheet (say column ZZ) and have a bunch of hidden cells.
Equation currently using to count only filtered values (in this case "males" and "females"): ="M = " & SUMPRODUCT(SUBTOTAL(3,OFFSET(D3:D13,ROW(D3:D13)-MIN(ROW(D3:D13)),,1))*(D3:D13="M"))
see the attached spreadsheet including the data. In Column AA I have created a formula that looks at Column B, and pulls each unique value from that column. add to this formula, or propose a new one, that pulls unique values into column AA if at least one of the rows has an "Actual Finalization Date" in column D that is in 2014?
I have values in COlumn A, probably about 50K rows, The total unique values on the column A is only about 27. I need to capture all those unique values and paste them in column B. I didn't want to do "Advance filtering" since the workbook has many macros's on it that the user simply click on. Im thingking of creating a loop and compare values already pasted in Column b but then that will take too much time to complete the loop. Is there any easier or yet more efficient way to accomplish this?.
There are groups of similar ID numbers in Column J. For a group of similar ID numbers in consecutive rows there is only one row that has a number greater than 0 in its Column L cell and the rest of the cells of Column L for that set of similar IDs is filled with 0s.
First for that unique ID group I need to find out which row is it that has a value greater than zero in its Column L cell.
Then I need to use that value to fill the rest of the 0s in Column L corresponding to that set of Unique IDs.
The process continues with identifying similar IDs in Column J and this time doing the same thing for their Column M. I have attached a sample file that shows the data and how the results need to look like.
I have two columns in excel, col A and col B.What I would want to achieve is following:
Col A Col B A 2 A 2 A 2 B 3 B 3 B 3 B 3 C 3 C 3 C 3
Now I want a total of values in column B pertaining to unique (or say 1st occurences) of values in Col A. So in this case the output should be 8 ,Achieved as follows(2 +3+3).
How do I count unique values in Column A only if the values in Column B match?
A B 1 a 2 a 1 a 4 b 5 b 1 b
The formula would return "2" for "a", and "3" for b. Basically, there are names in column B, and I want to know how many unique things are in column A for each person. If there is a better way than a formula (pivot table?) that would be great - like a table that has each of the names (from Column B) and the number of unique items from Column A next to each unique name.
I have a list that is streets and addresses. All contained in column A. Cell A1 is the street name and then Column A3 is the street number. This repeats down column A for almost 1000 street names. I need to fill column B3 with the street name, as well as B4, B5, B6, etc until the street name changes. I was trying to do this with an if..then but couldn't get it to work. I also tried to work on a do.. loop looking for the change from a string to number. But my programming is a little rusty. If anyone can help I was be forever grateful. I mean the alternative is to sit here and copy and paste all day.
I am looking for a macro that will fill the column C by looking at column A at another workbook.
For example:
Full workbook: A(column that will look) B C blala blabla Blabla
Workbook missing entries in C row: A B C blabla blabla Null
So the workbook that missing entries in Column C,will look for it,by looking at at column A,wich is the same at full workbook.
Here the workbook wich the values will be taken at Column A, named as archive
And the the workbook (named 900066_027_2373.xls)wich the column C will be filled,by looking at column A.Then find that code in the "archive.xls".See what has in it's A cell.Copy it.Paste it in current cell.
I need to fill in one column (a county code) based off of the contents of another column (the State). Something that would generally be easily solved through a VLookup. However I want the macro I write to be usable in other workbooks where the columns may not appear in the same order or with the same spacing (slightly different names may be possible too but we'll look over this for now). I have the columns named by their heading, but then I need the macro to go down the two rows, filling in 998 in the county code column, if the state is not OH.
Dim x As Integer Dim STcode As Range Dim CnTcode As Range
For x = 0 To ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count If STcode.Cells(x, "State").Value <> "OH" Then CnTcode.Cells(x, "County_Code").Value = "998" End If Next x
I know that there is a problem in the logic because "State" and "County Code" are ranges, so excel doesn't like me referencing them as columns.
Each one of these rows represents an entry into a ticket in our incident management system. Col4 represents the method by which the incident was reported to us (Email, Voicemail, Walk In, Ask IT). A ticket can be open and closed with a single entry if the issue is easily solved or it can have many entries if the issue is complex and requires more troubleshooting or escalation to a higher tier of support. I need to determine the number of unique tickets submitted by each reporting avenue (Email, Voicemail, Walk In, Ask IT).
In this table the number of tickets that were:
submitted via Email is 14 submitted via Voicemail is 1 submitted via Walk In is 2 submitted via Ask IT is 1
Autofill column B with sequential values based on whether value in column A changes its value.
I would like to autofill column 'B' with sequential values (i.e. GenoMap1, Genomap2, Genomap3,... GenoMap10, GenoMap11, GenoMap12,... GenoMap104, GenoMap105, etc...), but changing to the sequential GenoMap# only when the value in column A changes.
I have a worksheet (Sheet1) that is constantly growing with information. I have several categories under the "Category" column and then the various amounts under "Amount" column. I would like to have Sheet2 be able to keep a running total of the "Amount" column for each category as it increases in entries. I've attached an example sheet.
Now i want to select member column values based on the differences in values between members of location column should be 50000, it means if select web then my next selection should be SEB because next value (i.e web + 50000) is 100000 and it is matching to SEB in members column.
I want the macro to go to column F and copy down from the row containing AO NAMES down to the row containing TOTAL with the value within cell C3.
So basically AO NAMES will be the starting point and TOTAL will be the end point for a value to be copied down in a different column.
Example: Value in C3 = EU11
Column B Column F AO NAME EU11 Chris Wright 1355 EU11 Hazel Thomas 4015EU11 Julie Cunningham 8426EU11 Dawn Cumming 8748EU11 Jacqui Connolly 16597EU11 David Newton 17978EU11 Duncan Cowen 25781EU11 0EU11 0EU11 0EU11 0EU11 0EU11 TotalEU11
I've received a data report where the brand is in an incorrect format, but can be calculated from data in the list.
I have Brand in the format CRY, but it should be in the format CRYS or CRYW (brand + tag for winter or summer). There are other brands that behave in the same way, e.g. THO should become THOS or THOW, PLA should become PLAS or PLAW, FIN should become FINS or FINW.
I've created a new column using IF statements in conjunction with the departure date to work out whether it was a summer or winter booking, and as a result column C is now populated with either Summer13, Winter13/14 or Summer14.
I don't particularly care if it's a summer 13 or 14 booking, they get reported on together. So I now have the brand alongside the season (summer or winter). I built a database to use with the DGET formula:
Brand Season Result
CRY Summer13 CRYS
[Code] ........
And I used DGET to work out what the result should be in column F:
=DGET($N$4:$P$16,"Result",B1:C2)
This works beautifully for Cell F2, but F3 can't seperate the headers (B2 and C2) from the data (B3 and C3) without tripping over B2 and C2.
Column 1 Column 2 January 1000 January 1234 February 1300 March 1600 January 15 March 123 April 234 January 3000
I would like a formula that adds all the January numbers together returning a result of 5249
To move this one step further i would eventually need to add these numbers based on quarters, for example if the value is January February or March in column 1 then add the numbers in column 2.
I'm sure i have done this before using a countifs maybe but my mind has drawn a blank
