Comparing Dates And Selecting A Days Worth Of Data
Nov 4, 2008
I need to compare dates that include both the date and time of day, to find when the day changes.
I have a large list of dates (also includes the time of day in the same cell). There are specific values in the next column that correspond to that date. Some of the values that are too great and have to be changed. This I have figured out with some help from this forum. When a value is changed I need to add together all the values for the corresponding day, some could be above and some could be below.
I wanted to determine the number of days between two dates. Specifically, if the initial date is in one month, and the second is in a different month and an output would result a number of days in each month until the final date. BUT I have a large amount of data to do this for in a list view, way to put a formula in excel and just drag down the entire list to get the required information. see below for an example.
The result I'm looking for is the separate the months and only show the relevant months between the two dates in one cell or the adjacent. Something similar to the table outlined below.
I am using Excel 2010 on windows 7 PC. I work for a railroad and one of my coworkers gets data once a week about how many carloads we ship to a certain company. They save each week in its own worksheet so at the end of the year they will have 52 worksheets worth of carload data. What they would like to do is take these 52 worksheets and then combine this data onto one worksheet so they can see all of it going from week 1 to week 52.
Here is what 1 week's worth of data looks like...
Here is what the 52 week summary page looks like...
And here is what the summary page looks like with all of the data on it....
Although we have compiled all of this data, it was done by copying and pasting data from 52 different worksheets (took some time as you could imagine). So, my coworker asked me if I knew of a faster way to do this. After spending multiple hours on the net researching this and trying a bunch of different options (Data Consolidation, Summary/Array Functions, and varying Macros) I have not been able to produce a worksheet that takes all of the data and displays it like the last picture above. Because I only know the very basics of excel I'm sure I'm probably doing something wrong. Trying to decipher the code for macros hasn't been easy and although I got data consolidation to work it was adding up all of the numbers instead of taking them from one sheet and placing them on another with all of the worksheets' data side by side.
I need a macro that will, (i) make a copy of the current sheet, (ii) let the user select the month to be selected from a list (Message box), then (iii) delete all other columns in the sheet that is not from the selected month and then, (iv) total the data of the selected month in the empty cell on the right.
The sheet contains data in the following way:
Column A = Description of data in rows Column B to IV = in each column is a specifics day data Row 1 = Branch Name Row 2 = the date in the format 2006/05/16 for 16 May 2006 Row 3 – 361 = financial data
Using VBA, I would like to compare the date found in Cell(datRow, colIndex) of the Recap workBOOK to the date found in Cell(varRow, 3) of the Deduction workBOOK.
I loop through several Recap workbooks, one for each month. The problem I am encountering is this: If the date(s) found in the Recap workbook are before the date(one date) found in the Deduction workbook, the procedure will add the value of data below it to a running variable total.
However, what I am Needing, is for the value only to be added to the total IF the DAY of the date found in the Recap workbook (not the entire date) falls before the DAY of the date found in the Deduction workbook.
I know this is lengthy, but I have researched this for hours and am finding little to help me. Is there a function used in VBA to compare only the day of a date? And can I use a conditional IF statement such that execution happens when Cells(varRow, 3).Value > Cells(datRow, colIndex).Value even though the cells reside in different workbooks (both are open during processing)?
I want to pick a range of dates and find the number of days without sales between those dates. So, a formula that will look to a start date in A1 and an end date in B2, and then count the number of days that did not have sales between. Index/Match/Countif/Dateif I can't seem to make anything work.
Today I am having a very annoying problem that really has me stumped – I need to work out the lag between a Due Date and Delivered Date
But as people sometimes manage to deliver on the Due Date it needs to show a zero (as in they got it in on time) but using the formula below the result is a 1 and I want a zero
Can anyone help me please? I have tried putting assorted -1s in to the formula and it looks like it might work until I copy down and find that if a person delivered one day early the result shows -3 for example!
I have a list of data that displays data by day, I want to select only the data for the for the current month and then the same day time frame for previous months in the data set.
E.g.
Today's date 08/07 Full days into month 7
Formula to sum data in columns B that only looks at dates 01/07-07/7
I will the adjust that formula for a January date that only pulls data for 01/01-01/07
How to compare two dates in excel. Like my requirement is I need to compare curent date vs from month begin date two weeks date.As of now I have tried like this.
Current Date : =TEXT(NOW(),"d") Month Begindate : =TEXT(DATE(YEAR(NOW()),MONTH(NOW()),1)+14,"d")
And I have written condition like this : =IF(TEXT(NOW(),"d")
This formula gives a result of '1' even though it doesn't show an entire year.
I've also tried this formula:
=DATEDIF(B1,A1, "y")
This is more accurate as it formulates '0' as the result.
However if for some reason the 'Recent Date' in cell A1 is 5/5/12 and the 'Hire Date' in cell B1 is after the 'Recent Date', say 5/6/2012, the formula =YEAR(A1)-YEAR(B1) has a result of '0' and the formula =DATEDIF(B1,A1, "y") has a result of #NUM!.
Is there a formula that will give me accurate results whether the 'Hire Date' is before or after the 'Recent Date'? Maybe something similar to =DATEDIF(B1,A1, "y") but will give a result of '0' instead of #NUM!
I have a comments field in a reporting SS that I need to flag when the last comment is over a week old. The date however is entered into the same cell as the comment and the latest comment is put on a new line in the same cell, ie:
13/02 - Jimmy met with Shirley to discuss project A 10/02 - awaiting meeting 07/02 - agenda issued
Now, if needed I can make the date complete to include the year, ie 13/02/2008.
Is it possible using functions to see if the date in this cell is over 7 days previous to the date in another cell, say J1?
I am going to convert different costs during life time of a product to Net Present Worth (NPW), consisting Maintenance and Rehabilitation costs (M&Rj) and Salvage Value (SV), according to the following formula: [URL] .......
SV occurs only once at the end of life time, it's NPW in Excel can be calculated as following:
=PV(i discount, AP,0, SV,1)
But M&Rj costs occurs J time during life cycle, and formulating manually their mathematical formula most times takes much time. Exactly what should I write in the cell to get their total NPW? In other words, how can I get the following formula by Excel functions: [URL] .......
Reminder: NPW= FV( 1/(1+i Discount))^n FV: future value i Discount: discount rate n: numbers of years (periods)
I'm trying to determine if one date meets the criteria to be considered 'on time'. I have two columns: estimated completion date and completion date. I want to compare the completion date to the estimated completion date and if completion date is <= completion date but is NOT = 1/1/2099 then I met my date. I've tried this several different ways and problem is I cannot make it work.
When estimated completion date is 1/1/2099 'on time' should be 'no' When estimated completion date is not 1/1/2099 but is greater than completion date 'on time' should be 'no' When completion date is <= estimated completion date and estimated completion date is not equal to 1/1/2099 'on time' should be 'yes'
And I have a null date to deal with also but if I can satisfy the first 3 criteria I can manipulate the null values manually.
I need to set a format in which if I enter a num eg 15 on the Jan Column, format comes as "15-Jan" format or If i type 20 on the march column , it comes as "20-Mar" format
I would need it in Date format, because I would be comparing dates later on.
I’m attempting to find values that are within a band of .001 of the values of cells in columns L through O and searching columns B through I for values that meet the .001 criteria and copying the values to columns Q, R, S, and T respectively.
I mentioned the values in L, M, N and O are where the comparisons will be made and these values are tagged to a specific date in Column K. I need to find the dates in Column A that are in between the values of K and the cell beneath it. For example, in K4 I have a date of 10/3/99 and the next date I have in K5 is 10/5/99. I would then query Column A for the dates 10/06/99 (A4), 10/07/99 (A5), and 10/08/99 (A6). The values I need to find within the .001 band are in Columns B through I (B4:I6). Lastly, when reach the last value in Column K, query all values in Column A greater than last value in K and copy the appropriate values in B through I to Q through T.
Rules for copying data to Column Q, R, S, and T:
For Column Q- Find values in B, C, or D that’s within plus or minus .001 of M and copy the value of B, C, or D into Column Q of the same row.
I want to be able to compare a user-input date to dates in a column, and return 1 if the date in the column is less than the user input date, and 2 if it is greater.
Code: Dim TheString As String, ReportDate As Date TheString = InputBox("Please enter the date this report was run in mm/dd/yyyy format:", "What date do you want to enter?", "mm/dd/yyyy") If IsDate(TheString) Then ReportDate = DateValue(TheString)
I have a simple formula to compare dates but it isn't working. I am missing something obvious. Any help is appreciated:
IF(BB64=Current_Date,"Today","Previous"))
where Current_Date = today() BB64 = an array that is a feed from a streaming quote company: =ILX|Q!'f,Date' .
When I format this cell it looks exactly like Current_Date, but is displays "Previous". Somehow it is not doing an apples to apples comparison even though the values lookthe same.
I have a large spreadsheet which has a column of dates (dd-mmm-yyyy) in it. I would like to be able to filter by month regardless of dd and yyyy. I would like to see all quotes in Jun.
I am working with two files everyday: today's and yesterday's. Each report has the day's date in the name of the file.
So I'll take today's (11-5) and import it into yesterday's (11-4). Then, tomorrow I'll take 11-6 and import into 11-5. The day after, I'll take 11-7 and import into 11-6. So on and so forth. I'm trying to figure out how I can get VBA to accommodate these changes in names. So that it sees the date in the name of today's report, sees that it is today's, then selects yesterday's (or says "Open yesterday's report!"), and imports the information.
I can figure out everything else, just not the naming issue.
I guess I could always stipulate to the person running it that they should only have these two workbooks open and that they should run the macro starting in yesterday's workbook. Just writing VBA code to select the only other workbook so VLOOKUP can be done from it. But I am trying to make it fool proof.
I have created a calendar as part of main userform and I need to be able to select 2 dates and link them to 2 cells in the spreadsheet. According to your help on the calendar form at http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/excel-calendar-dates.htm I managed to do the basic calendar but need to select in it 2 dates.
I want to select the dates(from column H) in which the value(in column I) is greater than zero and paste them in column K(Attachment). At the same time, I want to expand each day for 24 hours. That means, I want to repeat the date 24 times while pasting in column K.
I have been using: =DATEDIF(A1,B1,"md") & " days" to calculate the difference, in days, between two dates in a speadsheet, however, the number of formulae in the spreadsheet now is cumbersome so I'm trying to put it together in VB.
I have a spreadsheet that contains dates in column A, the number of rows between each date can vary. Selecting a cell with a date in will activate a checklist in the form of a UserForm.
I am trying to create a macro that will count the number of rows from one cell with a date, to the next cell with a date, and then resize the selection for printing.
So far I have this;
Code: Sub test() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Set InitialCell = ActiveCell
[Code]....
My problem with this code is that when it reselects the InitialCell, the UserForm is reactivated. Is there a way to achieve the same results without having to reselect the InitialCell, and therefore the UserForm wont pop up? I tried adding the Unload UserForm1 line but it doesnt have any affect, the form still pops up.
