VBA Selecting Workbook With Changing Dates In Name
Nov 5, 2013
I am working with two files everyday: today's and yesterday's. Each report has the day's date in the name of the file.
So I'll take today's (11-5) and import it into yesterday's (11-4). Then, tomorrow I'll take 11-6 and import into 11-5. The day after, I'll take 11-7 and import into 11-6. So on and so forth. I'm trying to figure out how I can get VBA to accommodate these changes in names. So that it sees the date in the name of today's report, sees that it is today's, then selects yesterday's (or says "Open yesterday's report!"), and imports the information.
I can figure out everything else, just not the naming issue.
I guess I could always stipulate to the person running it that they should only have these two workbooks open and that they should run the macro starting in yesterday's workbook. Just writing VBA code to select the only other workbook so VLOOKUP can be done from it. But I am trying to make it fool proof.
I am creating a spreadsheet to manage Block ID conflicts when adding mods to a Minecraft Server. Example spreadsheet is attached.
Description: Column A contains a list of available numbers (e.g. 1-20 and 31-50). Column B contains a list of numbers a new mod tries to use up by default (i.e. 1-25). A number in Column B that is not in Column A must be changed to the nearest number that is in Column A. In this example, numbers 21-25 in B are not available in A and must be changed to 31-35, respectively. Column C should be the result of changing Column B (i.e. 1-20 and 31-35).
Issue: The main problem is that as a given cell in Column B changes, that number needs to become unavailable in Column A for the next change. For example, when 21 in B returns 31, 31 can no longer be used for the next number in B (22).
I have been able to use VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH functions to lookup the numbers to be changed.
I want to select more than one drop down box at the same time, and copy them as well as rename the cells they refer to.
For example: in A1 there will be a box with LinkedCell set to A1 and ListFillRange set to B1:B5. I now want a similar box in A2, with A2 as LinkedCell. However, when I copy past the box in A1, it still refers to A1 and B1:B5 (the last part is ok). I can easily change A1 to A2 by just changing it in the properties, but the thing is that I also need these boxes in A3:A100. Is there any faster way of changing this?
Also, the ListFillRange might expand in the future. Therefor I would like to know if its possible to select the boxes in A1:A100 and change the ListFillRange to B1:B6 for all at once.
I need a macro that will, (i) make a copy of the current sheet, (ii) let the user select the month to be selected from a list (Message box), then (iii) delete all other columns in the sheet that is not from the selected month and then, (iv) total the data of the selected month in the empty cell on the right.
The sheet contains data in the following way:
Column A = Description of data in rows Column B to IV = in each column is a specifics day data Row 1 = Branch Name Row 2 = the date in the format 2006/05/16 for 16 May 2006 Row 3 – 361 = financial data
I have a large spreadsheet which has a column of dates (dd-mmm-yyyy) in it. I would like to be able to filter by month regardless of dd and yyyy. I would like to see all quotes in Jun.
I have created a calendar as part of main userform and I need to be able to select 2 dates and link them to 2 cells in the spreadsheet. According to your help on the calendar form at http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/excel-calendar-dates.htm I managed to do the basic calendar but need to select in it 2 dates.
I want to select the dates(from column H) in which the value(in column I) is greater than zero and paste them in column K(Attachment). At the same time, I want to expand each day for 24 hours. That means, I want to repeat the date 24 times while pasting in column K.
I need to compare dates that include both the date and time of day, to find when the day changes.
I have a large list of dates (also includes the time of day in the same cell). There are specific values in the next column that correspond to that date. Some of the values that are too great and have to be changed. This I have figured out with some help from this forum. When a value is changed I need to add together all the values for the corresponding day, some could be above and some could be below.
I have a spreadsheet that contains dates in column A, the number of rows between each date can vary. Selecting a cell with a date in will activate a checklist in the form of a UserForm.
I am trying to create a macro that will count the number of rows from one cell with a date, to the next cell with a date, and then resize the selection for printing.
So far I have this;
Code: Sub test() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Set InitialCell = ActiveCell
[Code]....
My problem with this code is that when it reselects the InitialCell, the UserForm is reactivated. Is there a way to achieve the same results without having to reselect the InitialCell, and therefore the UserForm wont pop up? I tried adding the Unload UserForm1 line but it doesnt have any affect, the form still pops up.
I have an excel sheet where I would like a user to enter a start date and end date(say Feb 1, 2013 to Feb 28,2013). And these dates will be able to change to whatever month the user wishes to look up in a specific date range(column A has 365+ dates). This post is closely related to [URL]... but I cannot figure out how to get it to work from my case.
So working off the same worksheet, I have the beginning date in AC35 and the end date in AC36 in which the user enters. I would like the dates that fall in this entire month, including the beginning and ending dates to be referenced when looking for the specific day that contains a value I have in S35.
In other words, I have data in columns A through N. The dates are in column A and S35 is a value obtained from using Max(L185:L526) where L185:L185 is manually selected each time I want a different month. I don't want this to be a manual process of scrolling down the spreadsheet to get the next month.
I have a workbook called MASTER. MASTER has a macro I need to run in another workbook(wb2) I receive thru email. The problem is that wb2 can have any given name because someone else creates it.
With MASTER and wb2 (which can have any name) open, I need a macro that would select and/or make active whichever other workbook is open OTHER THAN MASTER.
I am trying to query my data, which includes a date field. If the user changes the date, I want to perform certain actions. Once I find the record, I can update all the fields with the userform. However, I can't compare the date in the userform with the date I have found so that it will follow a different course of action. Using the following I get the message whether I change the date or not.
VB: If VisitorForm.txtLastVisit.Value <> FoundCell.Offset(0, -3).Value Then MsgBox "Dates Don't Match", vbExclamation, "Sorry" Exit Sub End If
If I change the "<>" to "=", the routine stops whether I change the date or not. Something's working, but not right.
I did find that the userform sets the format to mm/dd/yyyy although the data is mm/dd/yy. But I've tried changing the data format and it made no difference.
I have a workbook "Weekly Field Report-Master Copy" and another workbook "Weekly Field Report $$$-Master" The "Weekly Field Report $$$-Master" workbook has all the formulas that pull data from the "Weekly Field Reports-Master Copy" workbook and populates a financial report of that week's field unit production.
When I save the "Weekly Field Report-Master Copy" workbook to a new name "Weekly Field Report Job #1" and then save the "Weekly Field Report $$$-Master Copy" workbook to a new name "Weekly Field Report $$$-Job #1" is there a way to automatically change the formulas in the "Weekly Field Report $$$-Job #1" workbook to now pull data from the "Weekly Field Report Job #1" workbook instead of the "Weekly Field Report-Master Copy" workbook???
Currently I am manually changing the formulas in the new workbook "Weekly Field Report $$$-Job #1" to reference the data in the new workbook "Weekly Field Report Job #1". Otherwise the formulas pull the data from the "Weekly Field Report-Master Copy".
I am working on making a spreadsheet that will rack which guests are using which membership for a certain client. Here is what I've got so far. My goal is to have the spreadsheet work like a calendar where the dates are changing daily as well as all the information with it. I was able to make the dates change, but I am unable to have the specific data change with them. Is there a way to set a column of information to a specific date?
I am trying to develop a worksheet that will adjust dates based on a selection from a drop down box. I can do basic formulas in excel
I am trying to get the drop down box in "Revisit Type" to include three selections ("Sanitation", "Spark", and "High Five"). Once the dropdown box is created I want to be able to make a selection and enter an initial visit date under "Initial Visit Date" then have the "Earliest Return Visit Date" and the "Latest Return Visit Date" automatically populated based on this information below:
Sanitation or Spark = 10-30 day window High Five = 10-21 day window
I am at a loss . I have attached a sample of the workbook for reference.
When I enter this : =now(). it gives the local date and time in my PC in that exact cell. assume it is in (A2). when I enter in Any cell in the spreedsheet the sam formula =now(). then the previous formula (A2) is changed to the new date and time.
So I have this sheet template to copy for various other sheets, and on A3-A1000, they contain dates from August 1st 2013 to whenever. Starting with A3 as August 1st. The problem is now, it's September 10th, and I would like A3 to be a week before September 10th. Then A4 would be September 11th. And so on and so forth. The dates also must only consist of weekdays and the dates must be hard coded. Is this possible? I have the simple code for copying over the spreadsheet, but I don't know the rest.
When creating bar charts i add the data I need and the bar thickness is as it should be, but when i cange harizontal axis to include the correct dates the lines turn really thin?
The company I work for does not use the usual calendar dates and uses a modified calendar. As an example, the month of January is Dec 31 thru Jan 27, February is Jan 28 thru Feb 24 and so on. I need to group data using a pivot table and summarize data by month, but as I just described above, calendar months will not work. Is there a way to modify what Excel sees as monthly dates?
I want to make a range variable ("testrange") that I can use to define a range of non-continuous cells and then use that range variable to select that range of cells in different worksheets within the same workbook.
I tried the below code (simply coloring cells red), but get an error when I try to select "testrange" after moving to the next worksheet.
[Code] .....
The next worksheet is also supposed to have the same range of cells colored red, but I can only get it to work on the first active sheet.
I would like to avoid having to repeatedly rebuild the range I want selected each time I move to a different worksheet.
I have x number of sheets in a workbook, and I am looking to copy sheets a, b and c into a new workbook that I will create.
The a, b and c are in no order, or consecutive (although they could be). I want to be able to count the number of sheets in the workbook, and traverse through that to find sheets that I need, and select them to copy over to a new workbook.
I have an employee schedule that is a whole year. I'm trying to extract only the next two weeks worth of columns. I'll schedule it to run once a day. Some information... The calender has the dates listed in Row 2 on Sheet called Daily Schedule The 2 week calendar would be on sheet 7 called Two Week Calendar There are only weekdays on sheet 1 Daily Schedule so if there is nothing matching today's date just stop and do nothing I would like it to save the whole file when complete
I have written some of the simplest code but I don't know how to select by today's date then copy that column plus 9 to the right.
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application") objExcel.Visible = True Set objWorkbook = objExcel.Workbooks.Open("C:Schedule.xlsx")
is there any way to open a workbook and select a sheet within the book without having the entire name? I've got a unique workbook and worksheet identifier but don't know how to use wildcards to get my macro to open the right workbook.
I have a worksheet which is used by multiple users at the same time, at the end of the day I can have upto 10 files. The layout of all the files is the same, same number of columns and rows, the only difference would be the file name eg:Test1.xls, Test2.xls etc. information in test1.xls will not be any other file. At the end of the day, these files are emailed and saved in a particular folder.
What I need is get information from all the files saved in a particular folder and keep columns which have data. Additionally, if there is no data for any columns after combining the columns to display an alert. The final file should have information with only data in individual columns and arranged in the order such as Center 1, center 2, Center 3
Eg:test1 Column A Column B Column C.....upto 30 columns Center 1 Center 2 center 3....upto 30 centers 1 4 2 3 5
test2.xls
Column A Column B Column C.....upto 30 columns Center 1 Center 2 Center 3.....upto 30 centers 5
The final file will look like this
Finaltest.xls Column A Column B Column C.....upto 30 columns 1 4 4 2 5 3 5
I have a main workbook that uses a macro to open a workbook provided to me from another department. This workbook contains a sheet that is basically a copy of the sheet in the main document and has the same sheetname and same codename.
The macro should copy the sheet data from the site workbook to the sheet in the main workbook. However, when i tell the workbook to select the sheet in the site file using its codename it errors....
When opening a .CSV created from a third party software, one of the columns is converted to date format. The numbers are imported in #/# format. and Excel changes most of the numbers to 2-Jan, 3-Jan etc... This would not be that big of an issue if I could simply set it back. Clearing format or changing to text converts it to a 5 digit number.
The only way I have found to get it to work properly thus far is to open a blank sheet and import data and setting the column to text prior to import.
I would like to find a way of opening the CSV file without all the extra steps. Is there a setting that can be turned off?
I am working with a 2010 Excel spread sheet and need some direction.
One column has dates in it. Some dates are like dd/mm/yyyy (eg 15/03/1974) and others in the same column are in the following format 14th October 1983.
I need all of the dates to be in the first format (dd/mm/yyyy).
Is there a way to do this without manually changing each field? I have already tried highlighting the column, then clicking the 'numbers' arrow and picking 'date' from the number tab but that didn't work. It's never that easy, is it?
