Test Two Cells And Set A Third Cell With Different Values Depending On Test Results
Aug 21, 2013I am trying to determine Long Term Gain (LTG,) Long Term Loss (LTL,) Short Term Gain (STG,) Short term Loss (STL,) or No Loss nor Gain (NGL)testing two cells (A1 and B1)and setting a third cell (C1) to the text LTG, LTL, STG, STL, or NGL depending on the results of testing cells A1 and B1.
A1 represent a number of years and B1 represent gains or losses (negative)in dolars.
The way I see the logic is as follows:
If cell A1 or cell B1 are either one of them equal to 0, then it is neither a Gain nor a Loss (NGL.)
If cell A1 is greater than or equal to 1, then it is Long Term; else, if A1 is greater than 0 and less than 1, then it is Short Term.
On the other hand, if cell B1 is greater than 0, then it is a Gain; if B1 is less than 0 (a negative number,) then, it is a Loss.
I need to find (if it is posible in Excel) one formula to test the two cells for posible outcomes:
If A1 = 0 then C1 = NGL
If B1 = 0 then C1 = NGL
If A1 >= 1 and B1 > 0 the C1 = LTG.
If A1 >= 1 and B1 < 0 the C1 = LTL.
If A1 < 1 and B1 > 0 then C1 = STG
If A1 < 1 and B1 < 0 then C1 = STL

Future Value Of Unequal Payments
Jun 13, 2008Does anyone know a formula that calculates the future value of an unequal payment stream? I am attempting to calculate the value of an investment plan where the periodic payment increases by 1% each period. I can get the answer by using the FV formula for each payment and then adding them up, but would like to be able to do it without having to do so.

Highlight Unequal Adjacent Cells
Apr 2, 2007I am attempting to program a column of cells so that if say "B3" doesn't match the contents of "A3", then "B3" will be highlighted in some way, maybe with a color. I'm using Excel 2000 and I can't see a way in Conditional Formatting to accomplish this without having to program each cell in column "B". I was hoping to be able to click and drag down in column "B".

Match And Count Unequal Ranges With Conditions
Oct 13, 2009I have a problem finding the correct formula for counting matches with conditions between 2 non-equal ranges in Excel. The sheet is a try at making a working schedule template a bit automated.
For Week 1 each cell in the H16:H25 has a drop-down list (originating from BD30:BD50) where a work position can be chosen. The fixed list in BD30:BD50 starts with “<<SELECT>>” which is the default choice for the cells in H16:H25, and then “HOLD” before continuing with various work position names. K16:K25 is shift number 1 on Monday, L16:25 is shift 2 on Monday, and so on until Shift number 6. Then the rest of the days of the week follow (each with 6 shifts). Monday through Sunday (with 6 shifts for each) ranges over K16:AZ25. In the cells in K16:AZ25 the following can be entered: “x” (work), “o”(off), “-“ (leave).
The issue is the formula in each of the K26:AZ26 cells which are to total each of the shift columns . I want to count all the “x” in each column, but ONLY if the positions chosen in H16:H25 matches one of the positions in the list in BD30:BD50. NOT if a cell in H16:H25 displays “<<SELECT>>” or “HOLD” (even if it has a “x” entered in one of the Shift cells).

Dynamic Range For Table With Unequal Used Rows In Column
Feb 19, 2008How would I select a dynamic range in VBA without using name a range in Excel. I have searched for possible answers, however they use xldown, or xlup which works great for non-empty cells. My problem need to select the area where there are empty cells. Here is a snap shot of the data looks like:

The cell with number is where I got the formulas. Now i wish to fill that formula with the rest of the area. However, the problem is the number of rows and number of columns may change in the future. So I need to select those empty areas in a dynamic way.

Jan 20, 2009i was assigned to make a computation for our individual scores using this:

inputs:
SURVEY(0-100)
LH(lost hour)
AHT(average handling time)
compute for:
SCORE
RANK
the SCORE has a total of 100%
so to get the SCORE, each input gets a percentage: SURVEY=40% LH=30% AHT=30% then added.
but the thing is LH and AHT has an equivalent.
LH
0 to 1=100
1.1 to 2=90
2.1 to 3=80
3.1 to 4=70
4.1 to 5=60
5.1 above=20......
eXAMPLE:
EMPLOYEE A
SURVEY(0-100) = 33.00
LH(lost hour) = 12.00
AHT(average handling time) = 14.20
SCORE = CODE
RANK = CODE
now for the rank i just use the code =RANK(SCORE A, SCORE A:SCORE N)
im lost on how to compute the SCORE though coz i can just use =((SURVEY*40%)+(LH*30%)+(AHT*30%))
but the one that needs to be on the LH and AHT are the equivalents and not the inputs.
and there is 1st 2nd and 3rd place. the name of the top 3 employees should be shown under the table.

Apr 24, 2013I am working in excel 2007. I have been using the COUNTIFS function to pull out some summary stats from my data. For my data I have sample ID's which are a letter followed by a number e.g. A12, A20, A39, A50. I have 40 columns of variables I am looking at which for each sample ID have either a value of 0 or a numerical number. For each column, I want to count firstly any samples that are greater than 0 (i.e. they have a numerical value) AND if the sample ID differs. This is because I have multiple samples per ID and so I want to know how many different ID's have a numerical value.
Is this at all possible in Excel? I do not know all of the functions very well, so I cannot find anything that will allow me to look at differences in the samples ID.
Average Formula When Sample Size Changes
Jan 17, 2008I am computing the average of anywhere from 5-10 numbers. When the numbers are not inserted there is nothing left in the cell. The problem is I get a value that is close to the average but not the real average. (Also the cells I am using are N37:Q41 for the first 5 samples which is constant the next 5 are not always constant W37:Z41) Here is the formula I am using:

I have managed to extract this info onto a form named Form1 which has 4 list boxes in which the above info is displayed in the same format.
To be more precise
Listbox1 shows all the Names,
Listbox2 shows Age
List box3 shows Sex and
Listbox4 shows height respectively.
What i want to do is, When i select an item on Listbox1, all corresponding enteries on Listbox2, 3 and 4 should also be simultaneously highlighted,
For example if I select the third data Ralph on the ListBox1, then ListBox2 should highlight 3,
Listbox3 should highlight M and
Listbox4 should highlight 2' 1" simultaneously.

I have a cell (AQ) it contains the number of days a patient is in a center i need to countif the cell value is >=90 if it is it will then calculate the values in cell (AV) which is >- 1.4 and get the average of cells in AV.
Row Height And Font Sizes
Feb 21, 2014I am building up a formatted invoice, line by line all of which is working well from the data point of view but no quite so well from the presentation point.
My text is all in Arial 12pt and I have the row height set to "Auto" and cell alignment to wrap text (at least one cell per row often has 3-4 lines of text so I need "text wrap" on)
My issue is that the printed output from a multi row invoice looks "crowded" and as this is the view the client gets to see (and hopefully pay ) the look is important. I tried to set the row heights to say .71cm but that causes the text wrap to stop working correctly.
I think I am trying to get some form of "inside top" and "inside bottom" adjustment / fill / padding (which is what I would do if I was using some form of documentation tool like Madcap Flare for example) but I cannot see how to do it in excel.
Calculating Multiple Comparisons Over Large Sample
Aug 4, 2009I have a sample of aproxomatly 30,000 records, and I am working to do some data analysis on it.
I am comparing multiple fields using sumproduct(), but if I go above two criteria, the calculation time becomes incredibly long. Is there a faster way to preform these large comparisons, or am I stuck watching my Excel lag out for 5 min every time I recalculate the sheet?
Random Sample Out Rows Of Data From A Sheet
Oct 4, 2009I've coded a macro that can randomly sample out rows of data from a sheet. This macro is used to sample out certain rows from a master sheet full of data (which has 48 columns) based on user names (a column titled LAST_UPDATE_NAME). For Example (ref. wkb attached), if for 5 users named Alastor, Catherine, Emma, Julie and Victor for whom i've to choose data from the Dump sheet.
I need to design a module in which if i input the no. of samples to be chosen against each name, then that many number of rows has to be chosen for that particular name and copied to a new sheet (probably such sheets can be renamed with the usernames). Also i want to consolidate the copied data from the multiple sheets and consolidate them to one sheet.
Randomly Choose Sample Rows After Using Autofilter
Nov 5, 2009Can anyone explain clearly (using layman terms) about how to go about randomly choosing specific number of rows from a set of autofiltered records?
For e.g., If there are 1000 rows of data in a worksheet and after applying autofilter to certain column(s) [one or more] say i get some 75 rows. Then how can x no. of rows be chosen where x can be input by the user or calculated based on a certain percentage? Say if out of these 75 filtered rows, 8 rows have to be chosen randomly - where 8 can be input by the user or also be calculated as 10% of 75.
Also, is it possible to choose these x records from the filtered set of rows without actually copying them to another sheet?
Pull Out The Sample Date And Time 20 Times
Dec 3, 2009I have a file that samples performance on a cpu. The output shows the sampling date and time in column A. This column changes depending on how long I run the file. No matter how long the column, I only want to pull out the sample date and time 20 times. So if I had data in column A with 300 rows, I want to divide 300 by 20 and pull those 20 numbers and put them in column B in chronological order. Same thing if I had 4000 rows in column A, I only want 20 samples.
