Conditional Formatting To Achieve Traffic Light Results For 3 Different Values?

Jan 7, 2014

I am wanting to have conditional formats so the cell fill in a range on sheet 1 will change to:

- red if the value of a cell on a seperate sheet (date) is greater than 18 months old
- yellow if the value of a cell on a seperate sheet is 'In progress'
- green if the value of a cell on a seperate sheet (date) is less than 18 months old

Traffic Light Conditional Formatting Based On Text?

Nov 4, 2013

I'm trying to create a dashboard with traffic lights displaying the status of a task. My manager wants a to be able to pick a color (Red, Yellow, Green) from a drop down menu and then have that be displayed as a red, yellow or green traffic light. Using the conditional formatting option, I'm only able to use numerical values or a formula. I'm hoping there's a way to either create a drop down list with the 3 different colored traffic lights or a way to use VBA to have the conditional formatting search by text instead of numbers.

Running Tally Traffic Light System - Find Previous Values Upwards In A Column

Jul 21, 2014

I'm trying to work out to most efficient way of making a quality monitoring system which uses traffic lights to show problem products.

The traffic light system need to obey the following "rules".

Each product is tested once daily When a product fails once it moves to Amber, When a product Fails twice in a row it moves to RedOne pass when a product is in Amber Status, will reset it to green.If a Product is in Red status, it much have 3 consecutive passes to reset to Green.

I have tried to use array formulae to look up a column for previous values in the past for this sort of thing, but with 100000+ rows it runs far too slowly.

Banana Problem?

Traffic Light Function?

Jan 10, 2010

I want to include a simple dashboard-light, which turns green, yellow or red, dependent on a value, eg in A1. [like the one appearing after my name]

A1<100 => light turns green

A1 100-500 => light turns yellow

A1 >500 => light turns red

Does something like this exist? Preferably in VBA code?

Traffic Light In Cell

Nov 22, 2006

I am seeking to insert an image into an Excel cell by a formula or a macro.

I am currently trying to have a green traffic light appear in a cell if another particular cell has the numerical value of "1".
for example, something along the lines of: =if(A1=1,"image1.jpg","").

Now, i know the above formula doesn't work but is something similar possible?

Count Conditional Formatting Results

Aug 22, 2007

i am trying to count some cells in a range that are coloured either Red, Amber or Green. the cell colours are defined using conditional formatting. each cell has different criteria for the conditional formatting, but the outcome will always be one of Red, Amber or Green.

i have used the code that is in the FAQ section (the '=ColorFunction' code) and this works fine if the cells are coloured manually. as soon as conditional formatting applies the colour, the formula seems to stop working (even after manually recalculating the worksheet). i have attached my spreadsheet - i am trying to solve the formulae in cells B21:B23.

Conditional Formatting To Return The Following Results If The Criteria Is Met

Jun 19, 2009

I have a conditional format that does not seem to be working for me. Cell B2 has a drop down optionSelect, No, Yes); Cell B3 is supposed to be conditionally formatted to return the following results if the criteria is met:

If B2 is equal to No or Yes then colour should become Yellow
If B3 is >0 then colour should become Blue

The problem is when B3 is greater than 0 it does not change the cell colour to Blue.

B3 Conditional Format #1 is =AND(ISTEXT(B2),B2<>"Select")
turn background to yellow
B3 Conditional Format #2 is =AND(ISNUMBER(B3),B3<>0)
turn background to blue

See attached for spreadsheet with conditional formats

Return Value Based On Results Of Conditional Formatting

Apr 19, 2012

I have a report that shows when our company has shipments covered by inventory (although you are not seeing the conditional formatting in the table). Columns K:Q represent shipment dates and shipment amounts. Columns D:I represent inventory with Column J being the total inventory. The conditional formatting works to highlight the cells in K:O of when shipments are covered by inventory. I need to be able to return the date (Columns K:Q) for an item (Column B) when a shipment is not covered by inventory.

For example Row 154: all shipments are covered by the amount of inventory. A shipment of 3 on 04/24 is more than covered the 105 pieces of inventory. But for Row 170, the shipment for 480 pieces on 04/23/12 does not have enough inventory to cover.

The result I need to return for row 170 is that 480 pieces are due on 04/23/12 that are not covered.

What formula would I used to return that value?

Formula To Determine Required Values To Achieve Target Percentage?

Aug 24, 2014

Data is;

83300 - hypothetical number of times I have fired my gun at target.
43209 - hypothetical number of times I have scored bullseye.

So, my bullseye percentage = 43209/83300, or ~51.87%.

Need formula to determine how many more consecutive bullseyes I need to shoot, in order to achieve 70% ratio.

Since each shot from now on will be a bullseye, both values (hits & shots) will increment together.

IF Cell Value = "H" then make the text "Bold", Bordered, and "Fill" with Green colour.
IF Cell Value = "S" then make the text "Bold", Bordered, and "Fill" with Yellow colour
IF Cell Value = "A" then make the text "Bold", Bordered, and "Fill" with Blue colour

Conditional Formatting Formula For Value Between Two Other Values

Jan 10, 2009

I am having a very difficult time trying to figure out a conditional formatting formula for something that seems very simple. There are 3 conditions I would like to apply to cell B2: If the value of I2 is less than or equal to 24, but greater than or equal to 21, shade B2 red. If the value of I2 is less than or equal to 20, but greater than or equal to 12, shade B2 orange. If the value of I2 is less than or equal to 11, but greater than or equal to 8, shade B2 yellow. I am sure I am missing something quite simple here.

I have an idea of running a macro that counts all the duplicates, paste them in a separate sheet where only the duplicated values will show, then have a regular conditional format of "Equal to".

Copying Values And Conditional Formatting?

Feb 1, 2013

I have a set of values on Sheet1. These 'original' values will never change.

I then have a set of values on Sheet2. The 'updated' values get updated every month.

On Sheet3 I want to show the updated values again, pretty much a copy of Sheet2, but where a value is higher than that on Sheet1 or lower than a value on Sheet1 I want to use conditional formatting to show this.

Is there a simple way to use conditional formatting in such a way? I have a long list of values so don't want to individually create a rule for each cell.
