Column A | Column B | Column C Los Angeles | Fire Dept | 3 Los Angeles | Health Services | 12 New York | Fire Dept | 8 New York | Health Services | 22 New York | Internal Services | 100 New York | Public Works | 7 Chicago | Health Services | 15 Chicago | Public Works | 56 Chicago | Social Services | 4
And I am trying to make it look like this:
Fire Dept Health Services Internal Services Public Works Social Services
I'm currently faced with a spreadsheet that has data formatted like this: A 1 RandomRowofData1 2 RandomRowofData2 3 RandomRowofData3 4 RandomRowofData4 5 RandomRowofData5 6 RandomRowofData6 7 RandomRowofData7 8 RandomRowofData8 9 RandomRowofData9
Every 9 rows, a new "set" of data repeats itself (wow, this is so hard to put into words)....
I need to figure out a way to get the data in column "A", every 9 rows, to transpose itself into 9 separate columns.
I have a long list of names, address, city state zip, and phone number, followed by the next name, address, etc. I need to now be able to bring each one into it's own column.
Example: David Smith 123 Main St. Denver, CO 12345 123.456.7890 Joe Blow 345 Happy Ave. Oakland, CA 34567 567.890.1234
I need to convert it so that I would have
David Smith 123 Main St. Denver, CO 12345 123.456.7890 Joe Blow 345 Happy Ave. Oakland CA 34567 567.890.1234
The yellow highlighted column F (each Reason) in the sheet2 to be placed as main header in the next column and so on as seen in the sheet 3
If they have two similar item number with 2 different reasons - delete the duplicate item number and place the number in each column according to its reason as seen on row 16 on the sheet3
If they have two number with similar reason - just sum up the number
in a macro i have this: col=cell.column 'suppose col=16384. then i need to place in a cell this formula =(XFD2708*100/XFD2597)-100 so i'm looking for "something" that can convert 16384 in XFD.
Here's a sample of the document I have, the original has several thousand entries, so figured for the sample I'd limit it. The raw data is on sheet 1, and sheet 2 is what I want to have to more easily manipulate the data. I started doing it manually, but I'm sure there's a far better method that I just don't know about yet. sample.xlsx
For those that don't want to download the document:
I'm trying to convert various codes from one column of an excel spreadsheet into different codes in another column. I was able to accomplish this with "If" statements, however I'm only able to string together seven of these statements in one command. Is there a better way to add formulas for more than seven conversions? Below is a copy of what I've done so far with the seven converts:
I have taken over this spreadsheet for my work, and it is basically a statement in excel. What I want to do is find a list of invoice numbers in column B populated from a remittance, and then replace column F to say a specific thing depending on check number and date paying for that invoice. So if a check printed today I would have it replace column f to say paid 1/31/13 check # xxxxx. Currently I am searching for each invoice indivudually and then replacing with check number and date. There are about 200 invoices per month that I deal with, and it is a big waste of time!
Is there a way to filter column A but ensure it includes multiple lines of data in a different column.
I have attached an example of what I am looking for:
I need to filter by community but keep all the information listed in columns, B, C, & D. So when I filter to Thunder Bay I would still see the 5 members listed in column D.
I realize the easy solution is to fill all the empty cells in column A to pick up the data in the other columns, but I do not want to Fill all the empty cells to include the name "Thunder Bay" (not the look I want for this spreadsheet).
I have an array 20 Rows x 42 Columns, which contains a competition draw.
I need to search this array for a unique value and return whatever the time is in the first column on the same row as the value appears, and enter it into column C in the Womens Times sheet.
I also want to return into column D the court number from row 3.
The reason i want this automated is as teams enter / withdraw we may need to drag the games from court to court to fill gaps, so i want the Womens Times sheet to update accordingly.
I have been messing around with index and match, but cannot quite get it to return what i need.
I have attached an example ... on the sheet "Womens Times" in column A there is a list of game numbers ( #1W etc etc) indicating womens game #1 and so on. The main sheet i am using also has a seperate tab for the mens games, hence the designator of W or M on the end of the game number.
I'm looking for a way to sort dates from several columns into a new single column (perhaps multiple columns if the entry columns become too numerous). I've included an example. There are currently only 4 columns, but there may be as many as 20 in the future, each with 20 dates under each heading. Any blank cells would be eliminated. If I filled a blank with a new date, that date would be placed into the chronological column. So basically, this would take the date from several different categories and create a single calendar of events.
I am trying to convert a row with cells referring to other cells (or with formulas in them) into columns, but paste special - transpose does not do the trick; the reference somehow changes when I try to paste it in, say A5 in the example file. I have excel for mac.
i am looking to convert data in columns to rows without using transpose but by formula. and i can drag it across to the right to keep getting new data.
i see posts mention about using functions like index, match? or other functions to do it?
I have a two vba codes. The first one defines the currency while the second one uses that info in order to convert them accordingly. I would like to edit the script in order to create a new column after my selection and then insert in each cell the proper currency as words (i.e $ -> USD, € -> EURO). So, if I select A1:A2 then only the cells B1:B2 must be converted into words. As an example:....
I am inserting a formula into a cell using VBA, but the problem is that I don't know the letter value of column "K" (used in the middle of the line); instead, I know it as column number 11. Is there a simple way to convert the column number 11 to the column letter "K"?
