Converting Long Time Calculation To UDF
I work with a lot of time based worksheets for a 24/7 operation and constantly use the formula:
=IF($E17>$D17,(HOUR($E17)+(MINUTE($E17)/60))-(HOUR($D17)+(MINUTE($D17)/60)),((HOUR($E17)+24)+(MINUTE($E17)/60))-(HOUR($D17)+(MINUTE($D17)/60)))
to calculate times worked where $D17 is start time and $E17 is finish time. Shifts can start and finish the same day ($E17>$D17) or go past midnight ($D17>$E17).
To make matters even more interesting, there are a number of variables that require adding either "and" and/or "or" conditions to this formula so I can end up with several of these nested and it gets pretty complicated.
I'd like to have a UDF so I can just enter the formula:
=CalcTime(Start Time,Finish Time)

I need to build a udf that simplifies a 10 nested if statement . i could achieve my task by using a if and statement, but it would exceed the 7 nested limit. I have company names in column A, industry code in column b and four varibles in column C,D,E,F . The g column would be a weighted average of columns C,D,E,F. creating a formula that would convert a string like 63008 (Mdyy format) to a format that Excel can read as a date =IF(LEN(I2)=5,DATE(20&RIGHT(I2,2),LEFT(I2,1),MID(I2,2,2)),DATE(20&RIGHT(I2,2),LEFT(I2,2),MID(I2,2,2))) In other words IF(the length of the cell value is 5, parse the date this way, otherwise parse it another way) If I2=63008, this would output 6/30/2008 I want to convert this to a function since that formula is rather tedious to type out, but I am new to Excel programming

Long Calculation Loop Upon Update
My current task is to create a spreadsheet that will auto-hide/show rows based upon values in other cells. I am currently about halfway 40% complete with this aspect of the file. I've read over many forums, and the best what that I've seen individuals do it on other sample spreadsheets posted were a =Rand() in a random cell somewhere in the sheet, and a Private Sub worksheet_calculate(). Trying To Write A List Of Numbers In A Cell, Keeps Converting It To A Long Number
I'm doing the website for my company and things have to be entered into the site via spreadsheets. I have a list of numbers e.g. 3652, 2845, 50925, 4809, 18392 that need to have the spaces removed in order for them to work. e.g. 3652,2845,50925,4809,18392 There are over 500 cells with multiple numbers in each, so I don't want to do it one at a time, and rightly so, because Excel keeps changing the format and giving me something like 3.6*10^30 and loses all my commas. Is there an easier way?

UDF Returning #VALUE! When Calculation Paused
I have written a simple UDF that returns a random number based on another cell value. The problem I am having is when the user pauses the calculation of the UDF(s) or flips between spreasheets (and calculates on the other spreadhseet) - then the UDF returns a #VALUE! result. I presume this is because the code has not finished. Is there a way I can bypass this (or force a calculation if the result is an error value?)

Long Calculating Time
I managed to put together an array formula to calculate the last date that a rep made a sale. Spreadsheet Taking A Long Time To Open
I have a couple shreadsheets I have created, one is for Purchase order's and has 4 different sheets. with one sheet holding addresses linked a drop down menu in the first sheet, all in the same workbook. Also there is a macro within this sheet to print to a specific printer, and a specific number of copies when CTRL p is pressed. The total file size is approx 9 mb. Opening this file takes approx 30 to 45 seconds. There are no links to any outside files, only links within the workbook itself. The second File I have recently started having problems with (Our Quotation log) is A workbook containing 3 sheets, 2 sheets independant and one sheet linked to the second that Summarizes the first and also has cels to enter information on the person the quotation has come from. I have this sheet formatted as a table so I can sort by name etc when doing followups. This workbook also takes approx 30 to 45 seconds to open, and on occasion longer. All workbooks are stored on my computer. The PO workbook has had the problem since I created it, although the Quotation log workbook has only had the issue this week.

Frequency Formula Takes Long Time To Calculate
I am using the below formula to distinctly count the number of customers that match the criteria that I have in Cells C7 and B10. The data is in a separate worksheet, that I am showing Named Detail of which will be changing on a monthly basis, so a pivot table does not want to be used. The detail data ranges from row 7-40,000, and the file is currently 8610KB's, and can potentially grow. =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(IF(Detail!$A$7:$A$40000=C$7,IF(Detail!$B$7:$B$40000=$B10,IF(Detail!$D$7:$D$40000<> "",MATCH(Detail!$D$7:$D$40000,Detail!$D$7:$D$40000,0)))),ROW(Cust)-MIN(ROW(Detail!$D$7:$D$40000))+1),1)) This formula works but takes an excessive amount of time for one caluclation, and I need this for multiple column and row critera. So, can this calculation be changed in order to get the same result with faster calculation time? I am using Excel 2003.

VLOOKUP Performance Is Taking Very Long Time To Recalculate
I designed a spreadsheet which uses a lot of VLOOKUPs and it takes a very long time to recalculate. I don't know if there is another way I could do this, but this just seemed to make sense and it works just the way we want it but it just takes too long. Here is what the spreadsheet is designed to do: We have data that is pasted into excel from another source. The data is broken up into account number, date, check number, and amount. Multiple payments from the same account can occur in one month so the data must be totaled. There is a custom function called concatif which works just like sum if but concatenates text. There are VLOOKUPs performed on the account number and the corresponding date, check number, and amount are inserted in the table.

Workbooks Take Long Time To Activate When Vb Editor Is Open
I have the VB Editor open and am manually activating different workbooks in Excel (with 20/25 modules each), the VB Editor goes through a process of maximising each and every module in the workbook I have selected before I can edit any code or, indeed, do anything in the workbook. This process takes about 8-10 seconds every time I select a different workbook in excel! I have played around with the settings "Full Module View" in the options section of the VB editor, but to no effect.

Simple Cell Addressing Issue Searched Long Time
I need to ask user to input the row ("rowin") and column ("colin") address in order to activate a cell. The mose natural inputs from the user will be an integer for row and one or two alphbats for column. Say, for example, the user input (82, AY), how do I represent the cell in code? I know I want to say something like Range("AY82"). But I just could not figure out how to concatenate "colin" & "rowin" to make it AY82 to Excel.

Large File Takes Long Time To Open/Save
I have a large Excel 2007 file, around 60.000KB. 54.000KB are due to one of the worksheets where I have 8760rows x 160columns with data. The calculation time is not a problem, it is very fast, it only takes 2/3 seconds. The problem is when I open or save the file, it takes around 2 minutes... it is not too much, but it becomes too long when one has to open and save it several times. It there any trick to decrease the time when openning or saving an excel file??

I have the below macro. It is used to translate time to seconds (i.e. 0:20:04 minutes to 1204 seconds) This works well, but i just want to know 3 things. Converting Text To Time ....
I have a column (R) that is formatted as text. Each cell represents a time in military format. How do I convert the values in the column to be in 00:00 (hours:minutes) format instead of text? For instance, 1200 is the value in R2. I want it to show as 12:00. I tried the following: 1. Create a new column (S) 2. Format the new column (S) as 00:00 format 3. Copy cell R2 (whose value is 1200) and paste into S2. Result: S2 value is the same (still 1200). Formatting in the S2 cell changed from 00:00 format BACK to text format upon me pasting. I'm having trouble converting Time to Decimal ABC 8:00 1:00 AM8:00 AM 8:00 1:00 AM8:00 AM 1:00 7:00 AM7:00 AM Using CellRef * 24 only works for Columsn B and C resulting ex: #VALUE! 1.08.0 #VALUE! 1.08.0 #VALUE! 1.07.0 For some reason, it only recognizes cols b and c as Time. The "AM" only shows when you click the cell, and it is displayed in the formula bar. When clicking a cell in Col A, there is a trailing space, ie: "8:00 " Tried a couple things but couldn't get it to associate col A with time, besides manually removing the trailing space from each row. Time As A String And Converting To Seconds
I have an ACD program that gives me a time in "mm:ss" format, or in ":ss" fomat. I have 2-3 problems with charting this data. 1 I am inheriting the production of charts from someone else, with old data being displayed by seconds only I am supposed to keep this display. 2 the data that is in mm:ss format is recognized as being in full date format, for example 2:14 is recognized as 2:14:00 AM instead of 2 minutes, 14 seconds. 3 the data that is in :ss, ie :44, is recognized as a string. Any thoughts on how I can convert both cases to a integer seconds? I know for example that I could mid() the second condition, but I am stuck thinking about the first condition. I can't adjust the way the time comes in, unfortunately. It is an auto-generated export of the data from a switch.

field A1 & B1 are variable user input. The goal is to subtract B1 from A1, take the result and divide it by 176 (a fixed number) and display the result as minutes:sec. For example: A1 B1 14,000 (minus) 2,200 (= 11,800 /176 =) 67 I want to result (67) to display in field C1 as 01:07 (min:sec) I tried (A1-B1)/176 and formatted C1 to be min:sec but the result displays as 5:27 I have no idea what that number represents.

What I am trying to do is to convert a timecode in this format 00;22;21;00 that is 22 min 21 sec and 00 frames to a serie of numbers that I have hard time to figure out. Time Clock And Converting To 3 Min Increment
Okay I have a basic Time clock calculation in excel (i.e.-(timeout1-timein1)+(timeout2-timein2)="Total time"). What I need to do is convert the "Total time" to be changed to 3 min increments. I don't know if that is the best way to put it but let me show you the chart for the conversions. 3 mins=.05 hrs, 6 mins=.10, etc etc etc. So lets put this into us A1 (timein1)= 6:42 AM A2(timeout1)=11:30 AM A3(timein2)= 12:00 PM A4(timeout2)= 5:00 PM (17:00) So A5(Total Time)=9h 48min, but I need it to equal 9.80 hrs because with the conversion, 48 mins is .80 of an hour. Converting Time: Subtract Two Times To Get The Difference
I'm trying to subtract two times to get the difference. Entries are in military format (1615) and VBA converts the time to 16:15. My problem is that when a time is entered between 0001 and 0059 (i.e. 0015), the VBA converts the time to :15. My formula does not recognize this, but does recognize 0:15 (entered without VBA). The cell is custom formatted as h:mm. I've tried several other formats including [h]:mm but can't get any to work. Calculation On Time
I have been burning brain cells trying to figure this out. I get these numbers from an online source and they come in like this: A B C D E 1/1/0912:01AM02:40AM11:18AM07:55PM The times do not come in as times...when I format the cell to time it doesnt change...that is my first problem. What I would need to do to these times is: take B and C and find what time is in the middle of them and put that in a different column. This mess will also need to be plotted on a chart with time by the minute for one day as the X axis. In my example I drew lines on the chart to show what I mean....the blue lines I dont want charted...I use those to find the time in the middle.

Time Calculation ...
Having been looking round this site for quite some time now and always finding what I needed I am now a registered member who needs your expertise. I have a spreadsheet for which I need to calculate hours worked depending on a few criteria. [data] ... The criteria is that Sat/Eve is 8pm to 6am weekdays and midnight to midnight on a saturday. Sun is midnight to midnight on a sunday, BH is a bank holiday and basic is everthing else. What I want to know is it these columns can be populated automatically using formulas. I would really appreciate it if someone out there is up to completing this challange, as I have to manually populate this at the moment and it can be 5000+ lines long (it takes hours). If i need to change the layout it's not a problem, whatever it takes to automate it has got to be worth the effort.

Time Calculation
I have a time card sheet that I want to make automatically calculate the time I have worked. It is set up with four columns that can't be changed. The first column is "Time In(TI)", second column "Time Out(TO)", Third column "Time Taken For Lunch(TTFL)", and Finally "Hours Worked". I have no problem getting the formula to calculate the difference in "Time In" and "Time Out" but taking the 30 minutes out of that is causing a rift. If I put the 30 minutes in 00:30:00 format it will take it but it thinks it's 12:30:00 and it displays in 00:30:00 which I want it to display 30. Just to clarify, I am using =(TI-TO)-TTFL in the Hours Worked cell.

Calculation Of Time Formula
I am trying to calculate the response time between when a phone call comes into my workplace and when the responder calls back...I have created a formula that does this using the times and dates of when the calls were recieved and went back out. This works except when the call comes in on one day and goes back later in the day the next day, making the response time larger than 24 hours. Variable Time Calculation
[code] ...... =SUMIF($A:$A,">="&TODAY()-1,D:D)-SUMIF($A:$A,">"&TODAY(),D:D) calculates the total in Col D looking back from today. The results gives you 12:00. What I need is a formula that will look back from the current time to 24 hours in the past, NOT 1 day, to calculate the total in Col D. Looking back 24 hours, from 10:00am, the results would be 6:00. Since the first time on 12/12 has not arrive, it will not calculate it, but will look back from 10:00am on 12/12 to 10:00am on 12/11 and calculate a result of 6:00 hours.

Time Spent Calculation
I need to find out the total time an issue was 'open' (not resolved) during business hours. Issues come in and resolution time is based off of a priority. Priority 1 should be resolved in one hour, Priority 2 should be resolved in 4 hours, Priority 3 should be resolved in 1 business day (8 hrs), Priority 4 should be resolved in 2 business days (16 hrs), Priority 5 should be resolved in 5 business days (40 hrs), Priority 6 should be resolved in 10 business days (80 hours). I have start dates/times field in a column (mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm) , a resolution dates/times field in another column (mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm) and a priority in another column (1-6). I need to calculate the time an issue is in open status (not resolved) based on it's priority but I need for it to take into consideration business hours (Monday thru Friday...7 am to 7 pm)...and not calculate time outside of 'business hours'.

How Do I Reduce Calculation Time
I am a big fan of huge files (30MB+) all interlinked with array formulas ...and lots of them. The problem is...one calculation take literally 5 hours. (I have one file I try to calculate since cca 4 hours now...it's at 63%) I keep getting extra memory with no visible improvement on the processing time. Is there a trick out there that I can use? Formatting With Time Calculation
I have a calculation whereby I use two variables which are 1. Man hours left in the week formatted as [hh] and 2. Amount of work left to do in the week formatted as 0" Man Hrs" I need to carry out a calc which says:- Man hours left in the week - Amount of work left to do in the week. The answer should tell me if I have a deficit or surplus of hours which can then use for planning purposes. Unfortunately the problem I have is that I can't make the formatting the same for both unless someone knows of a workaround. Man hours left in the week = 128. Man hours required to complete all work this week = 224. Therefore I need to say 128-224 = -96. However when I do this this an answer of 16 is returned.

Subtotals And Time Calculation
I am trying to calculate the time spent on each task. I have column A with Task IDs and column B with Time. Column A could have the same task ID repeated but the column B has the time for each entry. There is only start time for each task. Macro Progress Bar For Macro Taking Long Time
I have a macro that is taking a long time, so long that I think something is wrong but I dont really have a great way to check. I want to put up a little window showing the progress either by saying "i'm on row XX" or having a progress bar. Looks like msgbox requires action before the code continues so it is not a good thing to use if you want to get progress. My formula looks for bad values in a data file and fixed them. It takes forever. I would like to have a box there that simply tells me what row it is working on. Clearly I dont want to hit the OK button for it to continue processing. I want it to update the message box on its own and then take away the message box when it is finished processing.

UDF #VALUE! When Other Workbooks Open With Same UDF
I have a UDF in a workbook that works fine until I open another workbook which contains the same UDF. When Excel does a full recalculation it not only recalculates the currently selected workbook but also recalculates all other open workbooks. Is there some way to make a UDF unique only to the workbook that it resides in such that opening another workbook with the same named UDF won't interfere with it? Time Calculation With Colored Cells
I was looking for a solution through the excel questions but could not find anything which would help me. As you can see in column B are two different colored Sun, red and magenta as well as Mon and Tue. I would like to find a formula or macro without creating an extra column which looks for the color magenta i.e. if the particular cells are magenta (Sun, Mon and Tue) then perform an action. Calculation Time And Charge Rates
I am trying to figure out a formula to figure out how much to charge for hrs of a rental. There is an automatic $1000 charge regardless of time used. the rate chart is as follows: $1000 + hourly charge = total =<50 hrs= $15/hr >50hrs but <100hrs= $6.50/hr >100hrs=$4.10/hr ex: so is A1= 200hrs then i want B1 to equal $1820.($1000 + (200 x 4.1))=1820. I have an idea on how to write the formula, but i am having a little bit of trouble with it.

I would like to calculate Column D depending on below criteria. 1. if both date is same than normal Column C-Column B. 2. if both date is not same than time diifrence should not be count after 17:30 to next day 08:30. 3.
