Coping A Sheet To New Wkbook And Close The Var At The End, Without Success
Jun 23, 2006
I'm opening an excel workbook and link it to a workbook variable type, then I'm copying a sheet to a new book and trying to link it to a new workbook variable type
At the moment I can do this with the piece of code at the buttom, but I believe that this is not the best way to do it.
Why?
Because, this procedure is causing me some troubles at the end.
What happens in the last line of the code is that, besides I don't have any error, at the end of the procedure the workbook stills open in the memory and it should be deleted from the memory with the Set ... = nothing....
On Sheet1, Row 2 I have my columns named January-December, which correspond to the names of the other 12 sheets in my workbook. I want to test and sum the same range of cells in each sheet by simply coping and pasting the formula. I am using INDIRECT and SUMPRODUCT, but is there a better way? It seems to have caused the sheet to run slowly. Perhaps it's just the amount of data. Here is an example of the formulas I am using:
I have three columns. The first column contains a certain category ( i.e. Cat 1, Cat 2, ect.), and the second and third columns contain numbers referring to that category:
Ex: A1 B1 C1 Cat 1 6 5
I want to be able to find the success rate (C1/B1), but I want Excel to recognize what category it belongs too so I can split the success rates into categories in a different location. What function, if there is one, do I use, and what information do I need to plug in.
1. I have to hide rows using checkboxes 2. I have to copy visible rows (not marked ones) to another sheet in the same workbook. So far i have managet to creat this code for hiding/sowing rows:
I have been trying for two weeks to look for excel function that can copy specific rolls of a worksheet to a specific rolls of another worksheet. I do not know the best way to explain the problem here. I have attached an excel, sheet 1 is the original data while sheet two is a sample of how i want the new sheet to look like after applying an excel function.
I have a macro which subtotals my raw data and then copies the subtotal (visible cells only) to a new sheet. THe problem I have is that when I copy the subtotal it is not coping the total row and the one above, so my figures are out.
I have a data set that is not structured well. I need to move information into multiple rows that share the same ID #. In the attached example, for cell C6, C7, C8 and C9 I want "Sunny 60" (ID=1). In C13-C16 I want "Sunny 65" (ID=2) and in C20-C23 I want "Raining 55" (ID=3).
In VB, I have a command button with the name 'CommandButton'. I copy the button and try to rename the button using the following ActiveSheet.Unprotect CommandButton.Copy Range("C" + Format(i)).Select ActiveSheet.Paste CommandButton1.Name = "btn1"
but I get the error message:
Run-time error '424': Object required
How do I correctly rename the copied command button?
I’ve tried the code below to copy a file onto an intranet directory, when I manually do its fine but with the code below I get the error message ‘Path Not Found’, I’ve copied the file path from the actual directory which is on ‘ My Network Place’,
Sub Output ()
Dim FS As Object Dim F As Object
'Saves Copy of PPJ log In directoy
Set FS = CreateObject("Scripting.filesystemobject") Set F = FS.getfile("S:Output FilesOutput.xls") F.Copy [url]
suppress range name already exists when coping out workbook. I’m coping the selected worksheet out to another workbook…sometimes I get a message that a range name already exists and do I want to rename or not?. I always want to say no (don’t rename)…?
Application. ScreenUpdating = False On Error Resume Next Dim wb As Workbook Dim ws As Worksheet Set ws = ActiveSheet Set wb = Application.Workbooks.Open("\03-serverdatadatabasemarterialListingsArchive.xls") If Err.Number <> 0 Then MsgBox Err.Description & "help" Else 'ws.Copy After:=wb.Sheets(wb.Sheets.Count) ws.Move After:=wb.Sheets(wb.Sheets.Count) wb.Save wb.Close 'ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Delete End If Application.ScreenUpdating = True MsgBox "Worksheet has been Archived..."
I have a macro that has to open another worksheet and get data and close the sheet. The problem is when the sheet closes after I have gotten the data it asks if I want to save it. I don't want the user of my macro to see this option because it slows things down. To avoid this in the past I had the worksheet save itself so that it wouldn't ask me to save. Now the worksheet is large and it takes a while to save and it is getting slow. Is there any way not to save it but close it without having excel asking if you want to save it?
How can I copy whole sheet (only value and format) in other close workbook next to used sheet if it is in the same folder (folder can be in Desktop in C or D)
I have created a software on a userform and have copied contents of this userform to worksheet cells. However when I run it for the first time everything works and all contents goes in C4 - C8. However when I run it for the second time the contents in C4 - C8 deletes itself and new data appear i.e. the cells are overwritten.
In cell C3 i have the date and I have managed to put this date in the next empty column everytime the software is run. I do not understand why the dates can go to the next empty column without it being over written but cells C4 - C8 cant!
It’s been working perfectly up until around an hour ago. However, now when I close Excel, I get compile errors.
These compile errors seem to be because Excel is trying to access controls in the workbook after it has closed. Since the workbook is closed, VBA can no longer ‘see’ the controls, and therefore it thows up errors.
I’m also getting a similar error on a Worksheets("DataExplorer").unprotect line, which seems to be because the worksheet isn’t there after closing.
These errors only occur when I close the whole excel application using the big cross in the top right. If I just close the workbook (using the smaller cross just below the big cross in the top right of excel), it doesn’t throw up these errors.
Just to clarify: all of the code runs perfectly when Excel is open. The errors are being thrown up for lines of code which run without problem until Excel is closed.
I have a sheet that users fill out and there is a macro on that sheet to copy the info to another workbook, save and close.
for some reason, the date, which originates from a cell with the value "=Today()", and when pasted in to the new book, it is pasted values.
the issue is, every so often, the date will say 09/26/10 and continue to do so for quite a few entries.
i have tried almost everything. I checked the dates on the computers, and all are fine. i even went through it step by step, and when the data pasted it, it was 09/26/10.
I need to know the command to close a workbook. I have used the information found here: http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/userform-close.htm to disable closing the workbook via the upper right "X", but I need a button that, when clicked, simply closes the workbook instead.
I can't close out of my spreadsheet (xlsm). I press on the x in the upper right and nothing happens. I've been using the spreadsheet for a long time, but it just started happening yesterday.
I currently have a vba that when execute, a message box pops up that allows me to name the tab. I'd like to add a line that closes the input box when I press the red ex or when I press cancel. Currently, when I press cancel, another annoying box pops up but ultimately there is no way to close out once it starts. What line should I add to close it when pressing cancel or the red ex and where should I add it? find the code below:
I have a file with about 30 sheets and a size of 14 meg. When the file is saved by using the save button it seems to save. When the file is closed the Microsoft crash message appears. The changes seem to save and if you choose not to have Excel attempt to repair the file everything seems fine.
The other odd behavior the file has that is if you run a for loop on any tab it takes about 3-4 minutes to run. If you copy the tab to another book and run the same code it runs in 3-4 seconds. Any ideas?
Workbooks.Open ("N:Data ManagementDashboardLOLTickler Codes.xls") and do something like this?
Workbooks.Open ("N:Data ManagementDashboardLOLTickler Codes.xls") Not _ Workbooks.Open ("N:Data ManagementDashboardLOLTickler Codes.xls")
I have a userform that I would like with a click of a button to open the workbook and then click the same button to close the workbook after it has been viewed.
I am using Excel 2003 in a Windows XP environment. No other workbooks are open.
I have a macro that runs in Workbook(1). It will determine a list of Excel files that exist in a specified directory. For each file found it will; 1. Open the file ( Workbook(2) ) 2. Perform a bunch of stuff 3. Saves the file under a new directory/name. 4. Closes the file opened in step 1. 5. Deletes the file referenced in step 1.
Steps 1 through 3 are working fine. What I am seeing is the files opened in the various step 1’s are not closing and eventually Excel runs out of resources. When I look under the Window menu, I see them all active in the list. I think when I saved the files in step 3, it created a new Workbook in the collection and the indexing at step 4 is hosed, but do not know for sure.
I should be using for effective actions on steps 4 and 5?
I have a MS Access db in which I have two delete queries called 'qrySessionsCompleted1' and 'qrySessionsCompleted2'. What VBA code can I use in the BeforeClose event to run these?
