Copy Charts From Excel To PPT - Unable To Resize And Format Chart
May 23, 2014
I have an excel which creates PPT from the excel. but the graph pasted in PPT are not aligned and formatted.
By aligned, i mean re-size the graph and paste in a formatted fashion (currently they are overlapping each other)
My entire PPT created is off alignment and formatting. E.g heading are not properly aligned (they are touching the line below) and so on.

I've prepared an excel file (excel 2007) with some tabs that contains several charts (4 to 6 charts). When I want to print this file, the sheets with the charts on it doesn't print properly. I have set the print area to cover the charts only and then set it to fit on 1 page but the charts will not scale to fit.
I read somewhere that this is an excel bug - is there a workaround for this?
I could resize all my charts smaller but only as a last resort.

Im looking for a way to check all charts in a workbook, and resize them.
There are two charts per tab, and i would like the first one to sit on cell A1, and the second to start from a25.
So each chart about 25 rows, by 15 columns if possible.

I have a set of data for hours of work. I want to make a simple Pie Chart: % of Hours worked overtime, and % of work not overtime.
The Data Looks something like this:
Name,Normal Hours Worked, Overtime Worked
David,8.0,3.2
Anne,8.0,1.3
Danny,7.0,0.0
Harry,8.0,3.0
Edward,8.0,2.3
So I want a pie chart that has 2 wedges.
~25% labeled as overtime worked
~75% labeled as normal hours worked
Whenever I put these values in the pivot table and use SUM, it is trying to sum based on # of hours matching, instead of by the column Name... so it gets divided into a bunch of different pie wedges.

I have a NAMED RANGE of data consisting of 4 columns and as many rows as is selected. Name it CompTable1.
I loop through all of the 4 columns of data to format it (as shown below). This snippet is for column 1 of CompTable1 (a public variable as string) and I basically have the same situation for each column of 4 but replacing each respective x in cells.(n,X) & offset(0,-x) to take into account of where I wish the data to go as I loop through. Ultimately 4 (For Next) loops.
[Code] ......
The new range with 5 columns is as follows:
Column 1 from CompTable1 = Column 1 of new range
Column 2 of new range is blank for something later
Column 2 from CompTable1 = Column 3 of new range
Column 3 from CompTable1 = Column 4 of new range
Column 4 from CompTable1 is not used in the new range but is formatted
Column 5 of new range is blank for something later
This certainly works very well and with my amateur VBA status am quite proud of how far I have come in a few months. Is it efficient? Is it free of possible errors? Likely not. I wish to rid myself of the "Select" each cell plaque though maybe using a resize, offset or copy destination operation but can't seem to get it working. Once I do get the data in the new range, I format everything without selecting quite well with my methods described above.

Sheet1 contains a chart using a dynamic name in Source Data: Values. The dynamic name data is controlled by another cell. When I copy the sheet - i.e. Sheet1 (2) - and change the control cell, the Source Data: Values in the copied sheet still refers to the original Sheet1.

Just recently My Excel 2010 has decided to not let me right click to format cells, delete or insert rows. I can do these functions from the ribbon, but not via right click. this happens in both existing spreadsheets where I am the author, or even a brand new spreadsheet like in the image below. we have restarted the computer, Uninstall and reinstalled Office and still get same symptoms. I got here thru google but cannot find an answer anywhere.
I am very computer literate and even our IT personnel have looked at this with no answer. as you can see in the image, these options are greyed out.

I can run this code successfully:
Code:
With ActiveSheet.ChartObjects("Chart 2").Chart
.Axes(xlCategory).TickLabels.Font.Size = 20
End With
But this code throws a "This Object Is No Longer Valid" error when it gets to the first .Axes line:
Code:
Sub ChartFormat()
'
' Format Charts macro
'
Dim ch As ChartObject
For Each ch In ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Summary").ChartObjects
With ch.Chart
.Axes(xlCategory).TickLabels.Font.Size = 16
[Code] .......
I'm using Excel 2007.

I just copied a table from the web which contains numbers in the last column.
I pasted the data into Excel, but when I try to run any type of calculation i receive a #VALUE! error.
The annoying 'workaround' is to re-type the same numerical text into it's own cell, which allows for calculation.
I've tried changing the cell formatting to 'general', and 'text', but I still receive the #VALUE! error, when trying to calculate.

I'm trying to resize the data labels in my chart so that the word Institutional appears on 1 line (It's currently on 2 lines) like the pic below:
but clicking the corners of the data label and dragging it does not work for me. I click on the corners and nothing happens. How I can make the data labels bigger without getting the text cut off to the next line?

i need to prepare a bar chart from some data. what i want to do is that i want bar size to be fixed (larger than what automatically comes) and then excel changes the size of chart based on no of x-axis values keeping the bar size fix.
(currently chart size is fixed and bar size changes accordingly, i just want the reverse that bar size is fixed and chart size changes according to no of values in axis)

I’m simply trying to copy all the data on one sheet, open up a new excel application:
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
objExcel.Workbooks.Add
and then paste all the information to the new workbook. When I try, the charts don’t paste, only the values and formats.

I would like to click on my chart, which then gets resized automatically depending on its current size.
Situation:
My main macro creates various charts, all of them I connect to the macro "chartMakro". After the main macro has finished successfully, I can click on such a chart and the macro "chartMakro" is launched, supposedly resizing the chart. unfortunately i do NOT know how to tell the macro which is the active sheet, therefore my macro fails to work.
Question:
When a click on a chart launches a macro, how can I tell the macro which chart called it?
'appending a macro to a chart
' MAIN MACRO
'[...]
activeChart.ChartArea.Select
ActiveWindow.Visible = False
Selection.OnAction = "chartMakro"............

I am trying to graph the following data in an area chart with line charts superimposed on the area chart. I have a lot of data (and a lot going on) so I'm trying to figure out the best way to show this in excel from a functional standpoing (i can't get this to work in excel!!) to also an asthetic standpoint (dont want it to look terrible or illegible). This is what I'm trying to chart:
1) Weather data (temperature) by region:
So one region, would be: Northwest
I would like the "area" (so a shaded region) to be the min/max of the temperature data for each month.
2) I would like to show the temperature for each year as a line graph on the chart - so you can see if a year falls in or out of the shaded region.
3) I would like to show a company's sales increases across the same months per year as separate line charts. I may choose to just show the biggest outlier year in the end... or to show 2006 (the latest data).
What I am trying to convery with the chart is that the company's sales is or is not tied to weather deviations. I have attached an excel file with the data. I haven't been able to use the area chart or get a two axis chart to work or get it to look even remotely professional.

I have a text box within a chart tab which is populated with text values from a worksheet within the workbook. That part works fine however i want to be able to achieve the following example:
Current Text: Component Name - Notes
if there are notes against the component name i want the name to remain in black and the notes to change to blue
Aim: Component Name - Notes
If there arn't any notes then for the component name and the "-" to change to a light shade of grey
Aim: Component Name -
There are 26 components, each on their own lines in the textbox so im thinking either a loop where the cell reference is variable eg. ("CY" & i) or using the .find with a variable.
My code so far is:
Code:
Sub Chart_Notes_NTCA()
Dim i As Long, j As Long, Counted As Long, Total As Long
Dim Ans As String, Notes As String
Dim Cht As Chart
[Code].....

I have a # of games played column (Column A), a # of games won column (Column B), and a number of games lost column (Column C).
I'm trying to make it so Column C automatically enters the number when I put in the number in Column B.
Example:
Games Played........Win........Loss
1.........................1...........0
2.........................1...........1
3.........................1...........2
4.........................2...........2
For the fifth game played, if I won it, how do i make the 2 to automatically enter into the loss column when I put in the number 3 in the win column?

Is it possible to build 1 chart that holds 2 different pie charts? If possible I need to do this with VBA. The pie charts will have the same "components" the only thing that would vary is the percentage of each component (some values will be zero in one of the charts).

I work with a team of users that are continually publishing reports in Word that contain charts and graphs copy and pasted from Excel into Word 2010.
We have a custom script that leverages a PDF engine to automatically convert .doc files to .PDF files that we distribute electronically to our clients. This all works great, but only if all my users select 'paste special' and Enhanced Metafile Format when adding their excel charts into our reports. Most of these people aren't tech savvy, and I'm havin ga hell of a time getting them to follow this workflow and am hoping there's a way in Office 2010 to select the default paste from excel into word when the content is a chart.
It seems like the default paste from excel is an embedded chart/graph that you can then further manipulate each component of the chart in Word; the default doesnt' paste an actual image. I am assuming the pdf renderer is using a lower resolution .PNG version of the image and when these are scaled for print and or pdf, they look like crap.
Is htere anyway I can automatically change the default paste format for the chart from excel into word to be an EMF/EMV (enhanced metafile?) Either thorugh the registry or some other saveable setting?

I am trying to move the data from sheet1 column A to sheet2 column A while reformatting the data from its current format (dd/mm/yyyy) to format (mm/dd/yyyy). The data from sheet1 is provided to me by a client and is produced daily through their system which they have told me they cannot change the formatting on the reports. When i try to move data from sheet1 to sheet2 and reformat it only half the data formats into the correct date format. does anyone know how to get the data from sheet1 to format and move to sheet2 properly?

Working on matching 2 column of numbers.
Unable to match as 1 column has format where number has a space in front of first character.

425638
Not an underscore tough
Have tried text to columns - have tried editing cell and replacing space with nothing via edit/replace but no joy only way appears to be entering cell and deleting manually - there are thousands to update.

I have a code for auto scaling charts, but I'm looking for a slight tweak to improve its performance. Here is the code:
Public Sub ChartScale()With ActiveChart.Axes(xlValue).MinimumScale = Range("J152").MaximumScale = Range("J153")End WithEnd Sub
(where J152 and J153 are the cells being used to scale the chart)
What happens is that I create a macro button, and then have to select a specific chart, then press the button to scale it. I have 2 main questions I'm trying to have answered to improve this process:
1) Is there a way to make this process automatic (i.e. no button press required)? The chart would autoscale automatically upon the min and max number changing.
2) And more importantly, can I specify the macro to an individual chart instead of the active one? For example, I'd like 4 charts on one sheet to all have their own auto scaling being performed. So, in the above code, the chart uses cells J152 and J153 for the scaling. I'd like the others to use other cells for the scaling. Cells J152 and J153 would auto scale chart "Name 1", cells K152 and K153 would autoscale Chart "Name 2", and so forth for 4 charts.
