if you can copy the result of a drop down box to another cell in another tab. Want to use front tab as master sheet and drop selected info down to other tabs .I used Form Controls to create drop down box -
I have a formula that returns a string using the concatenate function. Now I want to copy the string to another cell without copying the formula. The string will become a record in a CSV file. I cannot figure out how to make what shows on the screen a label cell instead of a formula cell.
copying a formula. Basically i want to paste special a formula result automatically.
I have a if function set up so when 2 days corespond then in the 3rd cell it records the value, however when ever the date changes the value disappears, i can keep the value u there by paste special but i would love to set this up as an automatic thing once a value is recorded it records the value and deletes the formula, or the value doesnt change when the date (thus the condition) changes...
I have a list of questions that need to be filtered by the user and i was looking for an effective way to do it.
Column A is the question number Column B is the Question Category Column C is the actual question.
The user wants to use a dropdown box and select the question category. the results they will get are the question number and the question. there may be several questions within a category so all questions need to be displayed for the category that is selected.
(I havnt explored the use of a list as it gives the user the chance to display all the questions and i am trying to keep the viewing space that this list takes up to an absolute minimum). Also i have mentioned a dropdown box as these are very familiar to the user and so they could use it without the risk of user error. I have attached a list of the questions.
I am trying to do 2 things involving data validation. 1) Count the number of entries in a data validation dropdown list and display a result. 2) Use an If statement to pull the formatting from a cell into another cell.
An example would be if Cell A1="A", then show the drop down list associated with cell or sheet "!ryanB2". Alternatively, I would like to also display the number of entries in the drop down list.
When I drag my VLOOKUP formula down a column in Excel 2010, the return value copies the formula result from the original VLOOKUP formula result. For example, if the first VLOOKUP returns a value of 0.5, I expect to see 0.5 or 1 in the cell below that one. However, I get 0.5 which is not the expected result for the cell below.
When, I click the fx on the cells below, the expected return values appear in the formula result. After I click OK, the expected formula results updates and now appears in the cell.
I'm not sure what is causing this issue. My computer was updated recently from an old machine to a new one. I have never experienced this issue before.
I am working on Excel document(Microsoft office-2007) with 2 sheets(Sheet1,Sheet2). In sheet1 i have a dropdown list and the respective data is saved in Sheet2.On selection of dropdown lists in sheet1 ,respective rows should get copied from Sheet2 to Sheet1.
I am having trouble with the macro command. This is a first for me and I am stuck. I just dont know the how to write the Macro for this.
fill the column "Level 2 Area" based on the value selected from "Level 1 Area" which is coming from a drop down list. So the "Level 2 Area" will be a drop down list also based on the selected value from the drop down list from "Level 1 Area".
I have excel result sheet which contains students information. i.e. name, subjects and their corresponding marks, grade, percentage etc. So from that sheet I want to print result cards for each students separately from the data (result sheet).
I'm trying to do a formula that references a cell and returns a different result dependant on the number in the cell being referenced.
For example I've said if A1 has a 3 in it then put the word TEST as the result, plus if it has a 4 put the word RESULT.
What I wrote as my formula is as follows-
=IF(A1=3,"TEST")+IF(A1=4,"RESULT")
It works fine when I only use one result but goes wrong when I add two. If I change the words I want to show to numbers it comes up fine but with words it just returns a Value error.
Macro Based on an input cell’s (e.g. B12) setting of “yes” or “no”, format several other cells (e.g. B20:G20, B23:F23, C26:J26) as follows: keep the existing yellow shading if input cell is “yes”, change to grey shading if input cell is “no”. I would like this macro to run automatically whenever the input cell value is changed.
I have 4 categories A, B, C & D. These are in desending importance, means A is most important and D is least important. Now there could be many A, B, C & Ds listed in a column. The challange is if coulmn contains A anywhere then the result should be A. If A is absent, then search for B, if present anywhere then display the result as B. It doesn't matter how many times A or any character is listed in column. I am attaching a sheet for better explanation.
I created a simple auto numbering function whereby Cell A7 contained =Row()-6, and Cell A8 contained =(A7+1). I then shift, and pasted the contents of cell A8 until cell A600. My aim is to simply copy the increments of 1 - 600 into another column. However when i copy and paste i'm also copying the initial underlying formula ie: =( A?+1), Is there a way to copy the results, not the formula?
I have a formula that looks at a cell on a front sheet, and then returns the contents of that cell as the result if it meets the criteria. So for example this formula would be in Cell A1 on Sheet2 IF(SHEET1!A1,"New",Sheet1!A1,"-")
This formula is always in the same cell (different sheet) as the cell that it is looking at, down 1500 rows. Instead of having the formula named for each cell is there anyway to ask excel to 'look at this cell but on this other sheet'. e.g IF(Sheet1!"This Cell" etc). That way no matter what cell you put the formula in it is always referencing the correct cell for the formula?
Need to find the first cell above the active cell containing any sort of variable (integer, string value, cell fill colour, named range, etc...).
For example, a column contains multiple integer values between 1 and 10. I would like the macro to "locate" a specified value, say 3. Ideally the macro will select the first cell matching this criteria, located above the active cell. Once located, the resulting cell will be added to a range to be copy-pasted to a new worksheet.
I am planning to use this code for various applications in a workbook I am creating. At present the code will be used to locate string values, and cell fill colours. It is also likely this will extend to other types of variables in the future.
I've found information relating to the find function, but nothing specifically to find the first result above the active cell.
I'm trying to work out the way of having a cell give a result based on what has been input into two other cells.
Basically I'm doing up a risk management spreadsheet. I need to have in one cell the LIKELIHOOD of an incident, in the second cell, the CONSEQUENCES of it happening and ending up with a RISK MANAGEMENT ASSESSMENT in the third cell.
I am trying to make the colour of cell change depending on the result in an adjacent cell and have found and adapted the following:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim icolor As Integer If Not Intersect(Target, Range("x4:x202")) Is Nothing Then Select Case Target Case 11 icolor = 43 Case 21 icolor = 43 Case 31 icolor = 27 Case 41 icolor = 27................
I have a workbook with two sheets. The idea behind the workbook is an Interview Guide to be used just before an Interview. For now my problem is this.
Sheet 2 "Competencies" is just data. It stores competencies with their associated definitions and questions.
Sheet 1 "Control Page" is the sheet where the questions will eventually go. The user (Interviewer) will input data on the first two pages which will include name of candidate, date of interview etc. but they will also select 5 Competencies from the already existing drop down menus on page two. From there as the selections are made I wish for a code to copy the corresponding definition on sheet 'Competencies" to cells lower down in sheet "Control page".
I don't see a place to upload a file as I have a sample of the sheet ready to go.
I will like to ask, if there is a way to get in a cell the result of a simple equation without having to copy the contents of that cell with a = in front for example if i have in one cell
I have a value in Cell A1. Now, I need to be able to enter a number into Cell A3 and upon hitting Enter (or clicking elsewhere), the number I just entered into Cell A3 needs to be replaced with the number I just entered multiplied by the number in Cell A1. For Example: Cell A1 contains the number 1.05. I type 2.50 into Cell A3 and upon hitting Enter Cell A3 reads 2.625.
I have two dropdowns, both use a different source lists and both use the same reference cell to deliver the result, My problem is I need the contents of the cell to be deleted and the new result inserted. At the moment if the cell is already filled the new result is put in the next column.
What I would like to happen is to have two dropdowns one above the other (B2 and B4) and the result in a cell below them in B6, which ever dropdown is used the result will fill the cell B6 this cell is then used for vlookup.
Is there a way with a formula to have a result of one cell pasted in a different cell? ie. C1's formula =if(and(isnumber(a1),isnumber(b1)),b1-a1,if(and(isnumber(a1),isblank(b1)), b1 = d1,"")
A B C D 12/18/06 formula above =today()
if b1 isbalnk it will copy the value of d1 to b1. I dont know if this can be done i have looked at offset and a few others but it doesnt look like this can be done but want to see if i have over looked domething
I have a macro that imputs data from an external database and puts it into a temporary worksheet. This data has 3 columns (ID, Date, Amount). I am then making another sheet which has X number of tables (one for each ID), with the years being the column headings, and months being the row headings. ie.
| ID X | +------+------+------+---> | | 1999 | 2000 | 2001 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Jan | $100 | $250 | $300 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Feb | $200 | $300 | $200 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Mar | $300 | $250 | $100 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Sum | $600 | $800 | $600 | | +------+------+------+--->
| ID Y | +------+------+------+---> | | 1999 | 2000 | 2001 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Jan | $100 | $250 | $300 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Feb | $200 | $300 | $200 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Mar | $300 | $250 | $100 | +------+------+------+------+---> | Sum | $600 | $800 | $600 | | +------+------+------+--->
Currently I have a few hidden fields for the DSUM Criteria. I start making the tables. And then filling in table based off of the month and year. Doing so I need 3 criteria: >= First Day of the Month <= Last Day of the Month = ID #
The problem is it takes Excel too long to fill in the 3 criteria fields, calculate the result, copy the result, and place it into the correct place on the table. Is there another way to get this data into the correct tables faster? Instead of using DSUM?
I need to use the result of a simple calculation in one cell on Sheet1 (=A1+2) as the row in a cell reference on a different sheet. eg =Sheet2!A"n" where "n" is the result of formula.
I've been struggling with this for a little while today and quite can't seem to figure it out. I have a range --- A6:A28 --- where a user will enter a percentage. The total should add up to a 100%, which is in cell A30.
My understanding is that a need a worksheet_calculate function to tell users to revise their entries if the results in a cell A30 are either less than or more than 100%. This is the simple, non-working procedure I have now:
