Copying .xls File Numerous Times And Rename Each File From .xls Spread Sheet
Nov 24, 2009
I have an excel template that needs to be copied multiple times and each sheet needs be named according to a list in an excel spread sheet. I also have a formula in the template that needs the value copied instead of the formula.
I got this script from an site and tried it. It runs but I don't see any spread sheets.
strComputer = "."
Set objWMIService = GetObject ("winmgmts:\" & strComputer & "
ootcimv2")

I have a few hundred work orders done in Excel. Each spread sheet is a seperate file but all are identical in structure (basic order form). I need to change the value in the same cell on all the forms (manager's name needs to be changed on all our forms).
Question: How do I do this without having to open and edit all five thousand forms?

Public Sub ListMyFiles()
Dim fso As New FileSystemObject
Dim fso_Folder As Folder
Dim fso_File As File
Dim file_count As Long
Set fso_Folder = fso.GetFolder("S:SHARED All of TransportationTraffic AssessmentMultiway Warrants")
file_count = 1
For Each fso_File In fso_Folder.Files
file_count = file_count + 1
Cells(file_count, 1).Value = fso_File.Name
Next fso_File
Set fso = Nothing
End Sub
This works great, but is there a way for the macro to recognize the file names that have already been added to the spread sheet and only return new ones that have been added to the folder?

I would like to calculate the average number of hours worked per day in a particular week from my time sheet (in "Google spread sheets"). Daily hours are calculated in hr:min:sec format. Days not worked display 0:00:00. The formula I use to calculate total hours worked that weeK is for row 9 as follows: =INT( SUM(G9,K9,O9,S9,W9) )*24+LEFT(TEXT( SUM(G9,K9,O9,S9,W9) ,"HH:mm"),2)&TEXT( SUM(G9,K9,O9,S9,W9) , ":mm:ss")
How do I calculate the average number of hrs and minutes worked per day (excluding days not worked, cells containing 0:00:00)

I am copying a large sheet into a spread sheet. The problem is one of the columns contain numbers with some cells having an asterisk at the end of the number. This causes problems with the formulas on other sheets that use this data. Can I use a formula or what is the best way to eliminate the "*".

I want to copy the sheet named "data" from closed workbook (xlsm, xlsx, xls) via ADO.The closed workbook will be choosen by user via dialog box. The code must check the existence of "data" sheet. If there is no, then the code must give a warning. Futhermore, which is able to give a warning against the mistake of selecting the file itself.

I have an master excel file with 20 sheets with names x,y,z,a,b,c,f,.... Each and every sheet has data which start from Row 7 and Column 2. Now i need to consolidate this data in one sheet in another excel file.
Consolidation should be like
Suppose X sheet has 20 rows and 4 columns of data which starts from Row 7 and Column 2, this data has to be copied and pasted in my new excel file copied on my desktop. Now first 20 rows are occupied in new excel file.
Now code should move on to master excel file Sheet Y which has 45 rows and 4 columns of data which starts from Row 7 and Column 2,this data has to be copied and pasted in my new excel file from row 21, which means Master excel file sheets has to be clubbed to one consolidated excel file.
In All the sheets in Master file Data starts from Row 7 and column 2.
Data range varies row wise in each sheet but column length is fixed to 4.

I have an electronic meter (Fluke AirCheck) that provides me with reports in the form of excel documents. I need to combine those documents and have a page/worksheet that contains a legend and some notes etc. for reporting to management.
Given:
I have a folder with nearly identical workbooks. All contain 4 worksheets:
Document map
Sheet2
Sheet3
Sheet4
Goal:
1. Copy and combine, either specific sheet(s) or all the sheets from multiple workbooks into a new workbook (with prompting)
2. Rename the worksheets as the workbook file names and existing worksheet names combined.
Example:
Workbook name is "101B.xls"
Worksheet 1 would be = "101B - Document Map"
Worksheet 2 would be = "101B - Sheet2"
Worksheet 3 would be= "101B - Sheet3"
Worksheet 4 would be= "101B - Sheet4"
Results thus far:
Okay so I managed to find a script that does most of what I need:
[Code] .....
For renaming the worksheets I have tinkered with:
[Code] .....
But alas none of that works. I can also only copy 1 sheet at a time currently.
Another issue which seems to have reared its ugly head in the copy and paste function as the text on my new worksheets is white on white when the originals are black text on white. I can select the new worksheet and select all cells and hit "Automatic" on text and it fixes it but that's a pain on 100+ worksheets. So I need some sort of copy /paste special command, I think to make that work too.

At the moment I have a macro that is assigned to a button. When clicked, it creates a newline, create and copy a column in another sheet. This code works fine :
[Code] ......
What I now want to do is make a cell called "Total Number of Sites" and allow user to input data into "D3" manualy. eg if 3 sites, user input 3 in D3 so D3 = 3.
Since total number of sites = 3, Instead of clicking that button I made 3 times, I want to call the macro 3 times using a nother button.
However it doesn't work. This is what I used:

I am using the following code to rename a file that is being pumped out by another program.
Sub CopyAndDelete()
Name "C:Program FilesPATH1234567890_3.tvr" As "C:Program FilesPATHNEWNAME.tvr"
'
End Sub
The problem I have is the the file being pumped has a varible name. The nly constant is the _#.tvr. The first 10 digits are random numbers.
I have persued the "rhymn and reason" for the file name with the vendor and have been told it can not be changed and is random. The "_#.tvr" piece comes from the number of reports I have generated for the day. So I have 5 prefined reports that run each day and can recreate the _0.tvr through _4.tvr but the first 10 are random each time.
I would like for the rename to "ignore" the first 10 digits then looking at the file name.

I have the following code, which I use to open up a .xls file generated from Crystal Reports:
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Dim fexport1 As String ' variables for the exported file
Dim fexport2 As String
Dim wb1 As String 'variables to change between the opened workbooks
Dim wb2 As String
strTemp = "Please Choose The Exported File"
MsgBox strTemp
fexport1 = Application.GetOpenFilename("Excel Files (*.xls), *.xls)")
If InStr(fexport1, "False") = 0 Then
Workbooks.Open fexport1
wb1 = ActiveWorkbook.Name
Else
strTemp = "Operation Canceled"
End If
The problem is that Crystal Reports generates the file with an invalid worksheet name (it contains a backslash) and I do not have access to modify the Crystal Report. Althought the file can be automatically repaired by Excel when manually opened, the macro chokes and the "Application.DisplayAlerts = False" does not fix it. The only solution I can think of is renaming the worksheet without opening the file.

I think my code is close but I keep getting an error "Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error"
I am trying to rename the active workbook by appending yesterday's date onto the filename, using the Save As.
I might be going about this all wrong anyway. My user needs the macro to save, rename, and close the renamed copy of the workbook but to leave the original workbook open. I'm trying to do it in steps so I might be doing this the hard way. However, my code to Save As is below:
Sub SaveAsRename()
Dim CurrentPath As String
Dim CurrentFileName As String
Dim NewFileName As String
Dim Today As Date
Today = Int(Range("A3") - 1) 'Cell A3 contains the =Today() formula
CurrentPath = ThisWorkbook.Path
CurrentFileName = "QU Backhaul Dispatch "
NewFileName = CurrentFileName & Today & ".xlsm"
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=CurrentPath & "" & NewFileName
End Sub
My Locals window has all of the correct values right up to the ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs which is where it fails.

The code below looks at file names in column A and then goes to a folder and opens and copies the data in range c2 -lastrow from each file and pastes the data into sheet2.
how I could add to the code so that it also inserts the file name in column c?
It would make it easier to track the data in column B.
VB:
Sub CopyFromFile()
Dim fPath As String
Dim lRow As Long
[Code].....
I have attached a sample workbook. The list of file name is in sheet 1. An example of the output is in sheet 2. The data in column A is dummy data generally spans 100's of rows not just 10 as in the example.
The purpose of the code is to be able to put a list of file names in column a in sheet 1 and extract data from those files in a folder. The data extraction works fine. The reson for adding the file names is so that I know what file the data came from.

I have a Workbook that already has a macro in it that will generate multiple sheets based on certain criteria.
For each of these newly generated sheets (numbered 1-6 in the attached example), I need to be able save each of them to a PDF file based on a unique name contained in a certain cell (in this case, each named is referenced in cell Q1 of each sheet). As such, I should end up with 6 pdfs based on the attached sample files.
The PDFs would ideally need to be landscaped and should be just 1 page per sheet.
In my attached sample workbook, you'll notice that I have a "PracticePrint" macro that doesn't quite get the job done. One other criteria involves not printing any sheet with the characters "1010" in it (my PracticePrint macro is setup to do that, but it fails to do much else).
