I have 7 tabs in a worksheet - 6 contain data and one is a summary page. I need to count the number of times "X" appears in cell C27 on each of the 6 data tabs and have it put the total number into cell C27 on the summary page.
I know how to do a "countif" for data all on one tab - but how do i add a non-numerical value across tabs???
I know excel has a built in function for this. But it won't do what I need for this below.
Say, I have 9 worksheets open. In cell N7 on sheet 1 I need it to count the worksheet tabs.
But the dilema is to only count the tabs that will equal sheet 1, sheet 2, sheet 3, sheet 4, sheet 5, Notice, I have a space before the number. Other sheets have a specific names to them which I do not want to count.
So if sheets 1 thru 3 are visible with the other named sheets visible cell N7 will count 3

I have a worksheet with like lots of color coded tabs and the tabs increase everyday. The tabs are categorized based on 6 colors. I created a first tab in order to give how many tabs i have another each color. Is that doable in excel. Do I need a macro for this.
All I want is each time i open the excel sheet the first tab will be automatically updated with how many tabs I have under each color instead of me counting the tabs.
My wife and I run an apartment complex with 2 employees, a manager and a maintenance man.
We use excel to produce a paystub for these employees twice a month.
There are a number of variables including incentives for renting apartments, overtime, variable hours in a pay period etc.
We have a separate spreadsheet for each employee and a separate sheet tab for each pay period named for the pay date... e.g. the first paystub had one sheet named "Jan 15"... the next pay period the paystub had 2 sheets: "Jan 31" and "Jan 15". The third paystub had 3 sheets and so on.
The paystubs have a column with the numbers for the pay period and then a column with the year to date sum (for straight pay, over time, federal withholding, social security, medicare, state withholding, etc.)
Right now I edit the formulas for all these sums for each payperiod. e.g. =sum('Feb 15':'Jan 15'!B35) for the third pay period is editted to =sum('Feb 28':'Jan 15'!B35) for the fourth pay period.
I would like to be able to just copy the prior spreadsheet and not have to find and replace values in 11 spreadsheet cells for each pay period.
I have figured out how to get the name of the current spreadsheet to appear in a cell on that sheet using VBA... but not how to get that cell content to be part of the arguments for =sum(. on the formula bar...
In Excel, is there a way to consecutively number pages in different tabs?
I.E.... I have a Workbook with information in multiple tabs. I want to print all tabs, but I want the footer to display the page number in sequence. Sheet1 may have 3 pages to print. When Sheet2 prints, I want the page number to start with Page4.
I'm trying to see if the same numbers exists in two different spreasheets on the same workbook. Both "asset tags" columns are sorted ascending. If the number appears on both table I would like my formula to add a "Y" (for yes) on the proper cell. Not sure if I should use Vlookup, sumproduct or sumif formula. Here is the main table where I want that "Y" to appear in Column D .....

I would like to print the tabs such that the first tab has the number '1' in the footer, the second tab has '2' etc. And I don't want to go into each tab and type the number in the footer.

going down are stores a, b, c, d.... what i'm filing in across is the square feet of each store and what quartr or year each store came into place. so there will either be a 0 or a number Now, I want to be able to count the number of nhew stores each quarter. how do i create a formula that just recognizes it the first time there is a number and not a zero... because i will put the square feet in subsequent quarters after it opens so i can see yearly how many square feet the store had. then also, how can create a button on the page that will say quarterly numbers and a button that is annual. so that i can hide the quarterly columns and just see an annual spreadsheet... and for the quarterly button so i can hide the annuals and just see the quarters....
View 6 Replies View RelatedI work with contracts and have to report the sales for each contract by customer number, name, address, product code or sku, sales amount, quantity, and invoice date. Each contract number is associated with a product group and within that product group are a laundry list of product codes or skus.
Customers are often on different contracts for different products and may purchase some or all of the products on that contract. When I run a query from the system to extract this data, I get one sheet that contains 20,000 lines that have to then be sorted and seperated into different tabs based on the contract number. Keep in mind that a customer may be listed multiple times because each line in the query represents a product code and an invoice date.
I currently have a macro that will format the reporting such that it sorts the data, however, what it doesnt do is look for each instance of a particular contract number and separate it into different tabs.
So below are two examples: April and May 2008 Reports
April 2008 Report
Contract 1 contains 5,000 lines of data - extract into new tab
Contract 2 contains 5,000 lines of data - extract into new tab
Contract 3 contains 5,000 lines of data - extract into new tab
Contract 4 contains 5,000 lines of data - extract into new tab
Total lines = 20,000
May 2008 Report
Contract 1 contains 7,500 lines of data - extract into new tab
Contract 2 contains 5,500 lines of data - extract into new tab
Contract 3 contains 8,000 lines of data - extract into new tab
Contract 4 contains 9,000 lines of data - extract into new tab
Total lines = 30,000
So for the April Example, I would like excel to take this one list and break into 4 new tabs based on the contract number and carry over all of the data into that tab.
Where this may become difficult is that there may be more lines of data one month and fewer another. Im not sure if there is a function that will tell excel to stop when it reaches the last line for one contract number and to start a new tab for the next contract number. (see the month of May example)

I have data in a column (G) consisting of zero and ones. I would like to count the number of clusters of the number 1 in the data. For example in the data below there are 8 ones. But instead, I need to calculate how many groups of 1s occur. So in the case below the group of 1s = 3.
In terms of what defines a group. Whenever there is a zero either before or after the occurance of a 1 constitues a group, i.e the groups are broken out by zeros.

I want to count the number of times any given number appears either as a consecutive group or singularly.
To give you a context I monitor windturbines and for any given fault code I wish to count the number of events it occurs in a month. Now it could be for 1 hour then clear the next then back for 17 then claer again. That would be 2 events!
NB the data is in seperate coulumns per turbine.
Create some sort of formula combination or macro that will: Recognise a cell with a value of 1, 2 or 3 in. If 3 is in the cell, the cell to its left will be counted and added to a total. If the cell that has 3 in changes the value is removed from the total. Ive tried lots of methods but i cant figure this one out!

When you click on an entire column and drag your mouse to the right/left, you get a little box that tells you the number of columns highlighted, actual the same with rows. This little box has stopped coming up on my Managers laptop. I have looked in the View tab and the options area but nothing jumped out at me as the fix...

on each sheet I have one column and 6 lines where I will please random numbers from 1 - 50 but six number on each sheet
The question is on the total sheet I would like to have automatically the number repeats the most on those 31 sheets .
If I have the numbers 1-50 repeating in columns, 1-50, 1-50 etc is there a way to determine that number "1" falls 1st, 51st etc in the sequence without doing a manual count? Or that the number 2 falls 2nd, 52nd etc?
