Contagious Cumulative Sum Of Dynamic Ranges In Single Column

Nov 1, 2013

I am trying to get the contagious cumulative sum of various data ranges in the same column in my workbook. Data ranges are dynamic so i can not use formulas. I have prepared a table below for illustration. I need the VBA code to calculate the cumulative amounts in column C highlighted in Bold.

There is always a blank row after the cumulative amount. There is also always a text (as in column A of this example) in the same row as where the cumulative is summed up, maybe it can be useful for the code.

I would have written some code but for the algorithm to be used in this case. Maybe a nested for loop, not sure.

Create Dynamic Top-x List Based On Cumulative Values

Jan 18, 2008

My objective is to automate the creation of a dynamic top-5 list by summing a number related to multiple entries of an item (text string). Data are added monthly and while the textual strings (imported) are constant (text1 always reads as text1) the text strings themselves may vary from "text1" to "text2", etc. What I'm trying to achieve is finding the top-5 five items and copy/paste them to a range on the same worksheet. The range into which they are pasted are source cells for DSUM criteria. The frequency with which a text string appears is not critical, but the associated count is.

How To Name A Dynamic Range & Make A Validation List (of 2 Dynamic Ranges)

Dec 22, 2009

I have a range which will change in size & in content, & I want this to be a Named Range at whatever size it is.

Reason I want to is because I want to make a Validation List with this dynamic range. I also want a Validation list which lists the content of 2 or more dynamic ranges which may or may not be on the same worksheet - is this possible?

i.e.
First dynamic range: called "Milestones" at A11
Second dynamic range: called "Activities" at A25
& make a Validation list that will list content of both

Named Range Returns Wrong Range

May 16, 2014

OK, I have a huge SS with lots of named ranges. Many of which are dynamically assigned lists.

All of the existing ones work fine, but when try to add a new named range, it returns the cells from a previously named range. (Always the same old one.)

example:

A range (one of many) is named "Shift_List" and is defined using
=OFFSET(info!$C$3, 0, 0, COUNTA(info!$C$3:$C$2000),1)

New range is created named "PN_List" and is defines using
=OFFSET(info!AA$3, 0, 0, COUNTA(info!AA$3:AA$2000),1)

When I create a Data Validation List or otherwise use "Shift_List" as the source it works fine.

However if I do the same thing and refer to "PN_List", it returns the items from "Shift_List"

Any new named range returns the Shift_List cells, although older ones still work correctly.

Selecting Range When Autofilter Returns Only One Row Of Data

May 15, 2013

I am using the following code to re-name filtered data in column 4 of my worksheet, but I am running into an issue when the Autofilter returns only one row of data. The End(xlDown) is selecting a range that extends to the last row of the worksheet (1,048,576).

Code:
rfiltered.Cells(1, 3).Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "Receivables"
Selection.Copy
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
ActiveSheet.Paste

How can I write the code so that in the event there is only one row of data, it selects just that row for the paste (and yes it would be redundant to paste over the same value) and then continues on? I would usually use a Cells(Rows.Count, x).End(xlUp).Row to find the last row of data, but I don't think that will work in Autofilter mode.

Convert Dynamic Range To Static Named Range

My searches have not produced anything that I could apply to this situation.

I'm trying to write VBA that would:

1. Search a Workbook for Dynamic Ranges.

2. When a Dynamic Range is found the code would:

A. Determine the current coordinates for the range.
B. Change the "Refers To" value From "=OFFSET...." To "=Worksheet_Name $Column$Row:$Column$Row"

3. Save Changes.

4. Close File.

My apologies but I have very little experience in writing VBA. I understand about variables, arguments, and IF/THEN but just enough to use functions within Excel.

The code is then highlighted in yellow, the code is:

Meaning this part is incorrect but I don’t know why? To work it: go to Databaseform and press start. Enter 7mm in the product field and press find all. It will then return all the matching results in the userform. Its this I want to try and achieve on the other spreadsheet when the button find label is pressed.

Cumulative Totals

Oct 20, 2009

This problem has come at the end of a big exercise whereby I've managed to construct a spreadsheet that automates three payment processes based on various VLookups to another file. However, I've come to a stage where I need to pre-empt a payment allocation based on cumulative totals.

I'll try and explain clearly below but I've also attached a spreadsheet showing the intended result (along with a copy without the output so that someone can add in the formula - again, if it exists.

So, this all centres around a code allocated to our clients and a declaration that they complete. Say client code "Apple1" (col E) sends in instructions to pay on a position of "650,000" (col F). Within our existing spreadsheet we have an available position of "800,000" which can be seen by totalling column G for client code "Apple 1".

So that's the first requirement - for all rows on my existing spreadsheet for client code "Apple1", I want to add the cumulative total of column G ("800,000") I'd like this captured in column H, as per my example.

We can then make payment based on their declaration, up to their total available amount. However, we need to pay them in stages according to our existing allocations (col G). Therefore, taking the first example, their declaration show's an available position of 650,000, their total position is 800,000 and the available nominal amount for that row (col G) is 200,000 - so they can be paid on that full amount therefore, 200,000 should be shown in cell I3.

So now, they've got 450,000 left to be paid and cell G4 again shows a position of 200,000, so once again, cell I4 should show 200,000.

The client "Apple1" now has a payment amount remaining of 250,000 remaining but in this instance, cell G5 is for 300,000 - so because the remainder of their available payment is less than the amount in cell G5, we should post the available payment amount in that field - 250000.

Therefore, if you add up all of column I for client "Apple1" it comes to 650,000 - the amount we have on our declaration - even though the total of their available position is 800,000.

I've included another client in the mix "Sauce2" who should show 200,000 and 0 respectively in cells I6 and I7.

Cumulative MAX Formula UDF Help

Is it possible to arrive at the formula result in cell (C9) using only the cells in column A and bypassing the need to have a column B?

I originally tried =MIN(A1:A9)-MAX(A1:A9) as a way to bypass column B and have a single formula but it did not give me the same result. I was thinkging I might need to have a (UDF) but not sure. Thanks Again.

Column A ------------------------Column B-------------------------Column C
A1=2.53 ------------------B1=A1-Max(A$1:A1)
A2=3.52 ------------------B2=A2-Max(A$1:A2)
A3=5.47 ------------------B3=A3-Max(A$1:A3)
A4=6.87 ------------------B4=A4-Max(A$1:A4)
A5=7.89 ------------------B5=A5-Max(A$1:A5)
A6=4.14 ------------------B6=A6-Max(A$1:A6)
A7=3.23 ------------------B7=A7-Max(A$1:A7)
