If I have a table as noted below with the following assumptions:
- this table will likely grow
- the 'Include' column data will change based on external criteria/formulas, so the 'Include' column will not be sorted.
- Macros aren't an option as this sheet needs to be macro free.
A
B
C
1
Item
Calories
Include
[Code]...
How do I build a formula that I can place in a data validation drop down to only include 'Item's that have Yes indicated in the 'Include' column?
I've been researching this and found answers if the 'Include' column was sorted via offset, but I haven't found any to sift through when unsorted. I feel like there is a simple answer to this that I am missing. Here is the sheet --> ExampleSheet.xlsx

I got 2 fields A2 = Date1 and C2 = Date2
The Date1 field comes from a dropdown list using Data Validation
I want Date2 to also have a dropdown list but to be greater or equal to Date1, is this possible?
Check the following example

I'm trying to add code to validate the format in which users are entering in a date within my userform, and I am also trying to validate if they enter in a specific value within a combobox, they will be unable to enter data within a textbox further down in the userform. Here is how my code is currently written, but neither my date or data validations are working. I have bolded the new coding I added to an existing code that was created by someone else at my job prior to it being given to me.
[code]
Private Sub cmdAdd_Click()
Dim lRow As Long
Dim lPart As Long

Perhaps an easily resolved issue, but one that stumps me. I'm building a spreadsheet that allows users to enter a date in a cell (A1). I want to restrict entries to only permit the date as MM/DD/YYYY, to include leading zeros, if necessary, so that the entry is ten digits long.
Then, I want that user entered date to transfer to another cell (B1) and transformed to the date with leading and trailing asterisks (*MM/DD/YYYY*). That entry will be displayed in bar code font. Cell B1 is to be generated by the spreadsheet, so that the user only makes the date entry in cell A1.
Formatting A1 as a date field presented many problems, to include an inability to select the ten-digit format. So I've formatted this cell as a custom cell, which works well in tranforming user entries such as 1/1/09 to the required 01/01/2009.
Problem 1: I can't get the data validation error alert feature to work properly. I set the condition to allow text length equal to 10, and every entry I try produces the error message. I've also set the condition to allow custom data using the formula MM/DD/YYYY. That also produces the error message regardless of entry.
Problem 2: I can't figure out the formula to add the asterisks to the front and back of the date for cell B1. The closest I can get is the asterisks with the date converted to a number.

I am trying to do a validation against a date.
Can a cell have a calendar button - for user to choose a date, and also have data validation? (so far I've played with validation, haven't found how to include calendar).
I would like to validate that the chosen date is at least TODAY+14, but also is a Saturday - is there any validation which will provide this?

I have used data validation to colour rows in one of my spreadsheets at work. The column that uses the data validation is the first column and has a drop down list of 5 words. One of which is collected, which currently indicates when the card has been collected by the individual in question and no further attention is required. It colours the rest of the row green. There is also a column that is entitled 'Date Collected'. Instead of having to input this manually, is there a way to automatically enter the date to be the date that the 'Collected' value was selected?
The title is misleading, I realise there will need to be some sort of IF statement in the 'Date Collected' column. It's been a long day already.

Let's say I have data validation on column A, which only allows 2 values, "Number" and "Letter". Easy enough. If the value "Number" is selected in A1, when the user moves to B1, I want a validation list of 1,2 and 3, when they move to C1, I want a list of 4, 5 and 6 and when they move to D1, a list of 7, 8 and 9. However, if "Letter" is selected in A1, when the user moves to B1, I want a list of R, S and T, when they move to C1, U, V and W, and when they move to D1, a list of X, Y and Z. I tried using dependant validation, but can only get all three columns (B, C and D) to either be 1, 2 and 3, or R, S and T. The validation lists would be existing named ranges on a separate sheet.

I am a personal trainer/strength coach, and i use excel to write my workout programs.
To save time in writing programs i have made lists of all of my exercises in a separate workbook. I have them all linked via data validation in drop down lists to different templates for different populations ;weight loss, injury prevention, sports performance, ect. And it has been working great!
However here is my problem, I would like to be able to return an entire list of an exercise circuit with one drop down list and have it input all the exercises in cells below the drop down list.
So for example i have three columns on a separate sheet.
Column one
Circuit A
exercise 1
exercise 2
exercise 3
Column two
Circuit A
exercise 4
exercise 5
exercise 6
Column Three
Circuit A
exercise 7
exercise 8
exercise 9
In cell A1 i want a drop down list that that has circuit A, B, C,
using the drop down list if i pick circuit A it will return exercise 1, 2, 3 in the cells A2, A3, A4, receptively.

I'm trying to figure a to enforce dual data validation on a single cell. That is, I need to restrict the user to entering only a decimal value, only if a particular other cell (say A2) is blank. To put it another way, if A2 is blank, the user can enter a decimal value, but if A2 is not blank, the user cannot enter anything. I can use Data Validation to enforce either the decimal restriction or the ISBLANK, but I'm not sure how to make them work together.

Data validation in an Excel 2010 workbook.
I want the date input to be restricted a start date and an End date specified in two cells on the sheet. However, when I set up the Data Validation, ANY date will be accepted.
As an example cell Z1 contains the date 1/3/2014 and Cell Z2 contains the date 31/3/2014, so in the Data Validation box, the Start Date is referenced to Z1 and the End Date is referenced to cell Z2.
But I can enter 1/9/2020 and the Data Validation happily accepts that date.

I have to enter patient's SSN's into my database. The fastest and most error free way to do this is simply copy the SSN from the electronic chart and paste into the appropriate cell in the database. I don't want duplicates. So, I need the database to alert me when I paste in a duplicate SSN. I know you can set data validation to do prohibit duplicates by using a formula. In the attached spreadsheet the SSN is in column B, so:

ColS
(Row2) X
(Row3) Y
(Row4) Y
(Row5) Y
(Row6) X
In ColT, I am to apply data validation: i.e. If in concerned row of ColS is having "X" value, then I am to show an error message. Else, values from A2:A5 should be shown in the as list and these should be accepted in ColT.

I would like to delete a column using data validation list. for example :
i have a data validation INPUT list in cell A1 (Part No., Supplier 1, Supplier 2, Supplier 3) the heading start from B2,C2,D2,E2,F2. If user select Supplier 1 from data validation list in cell A1, the column Supplier 1 [c2] should be deleted.
And/or also if in cell B1 have a data validation INPUT row list (Part no.) & if user select part no.,
the selected part no. row should be deleted.

I am limiting choices in a certain cell to a list via data validation (using data validation, allow - list and pointing to the source). I want to limit the next set of choices in the next column (in this example in Column C) for the user based on the choice made in the adjoining cell. For example to keep it simple I will use the following: if the user selected "Fruit" in B1, then the options in C1 would only show "Oranges","Apples", "Pears". If however the user selected "Veg" it would only show "Cucumber", "Lettuce", "Spinach", "Radishes" in the drop down in column C. I can put a prefix in front of the column C data validation list if that is needed to narrow down e.g. FR-oranges, FR-apples etc.
A B C
1 Fruit Oranges
2 Veg Lettuce
3
Data Validation source for Column B (H2:H4)
Fruit
Veg
Nuts
Data Validation for Column C: (I2:I10)
Oranges
Apples
Pears
Cucumber
Lettuce
Spinach
Radishes
Almonds
Peanuts

I have a dropdown list in C24:C50 (=CategoryList) with data validation and a sub list in D24:D50 (=ItemList) with data validation. I am looking for a way to have code automatically run after selecting an item in the data validation dropdown list in column C.
Example; I click on C24 and make a selection. I what it to trigger code that would move me to D24 and open up the data validation list in D24. After the selection in D24 I would like it to move me back and down 1 row to C25. I have not found anything directly related to this but I have found that code can be run after a selection in a valadition list.

First Name
Surname
Paul
Smith

So, in the example below, I would want to count how many cells in column E have data in them, but only if the date in column A falls between Jan 1 2014 and Jan 5 2014. (In this case, result should be 4).

I am trying to set up a data validation to ensure that when a user enters a number in column A that matches a previously entered number in column A, the user is only allowed to enter the same date for the number it matches in column B.
For example, if:
Row 3 column A = 1320
and
Row 3 column B = 16-Dec-07
and
Row 15 column A = 1320
then:
Row 15 column B must be 16-Dec-07

for example:
On sheet1:
If 'Group1' is selected from data validation list1 then data validation list5 will show a list of all items from Group1. If 'Group2' is selected from data validation list2, then data validation list5 will display all the items in 'Group2'...
(I do not want to use a combo box for this)

I inherited a spreadsheet and the date validation does not work. It checks for the formatting of the date being entered, and when anything is entered is returns the pop-up error message. so even when a correctly formatted date is typed into the cell the error message prevents the user from entering the new date. I have checked and cannot find the problem. I even tried formatting the cell with Crtl-1 to ensure the date being entered was formatted right, but still does not work.
This is the code snippet for three columns I am working with:
VB:
columns("G:G").Select
With Selection.Validation
.Delete
.add Type:=xlValidateCustom, AlertStyle:=xlValidAlertStop, Operator:= _
xlBetween, Formula1:="format(""m/dd/yyyy"")"
.IgnoreBlank = True
.InCellDropdown = True

In my attachment I am trying to identify rows within Table 2 that do not fit in with Table 1. For example in Table 2, Row 16 has a Start Date of 17.11.2010 and an End Date of 13.11.2011 for ID number 151. This record has to be shown as "OK" because it fits into the date range of Row 103 of Table 1 i.e. Table 1 Row 103 has a Start Date of 01.01.2010 and an End Date of 28.02.2013 for ID 15. In other words the Start Date of Table 2 Row 16 is GE the Start date of Table 1 Row 103, and the End Date of Table 2 Row 16 is LE the End Date of the same Row 103 of Table 1, therefore this reocrd is OK.
Row 14 of Table 2 needs to be shown as "NOT OK" because it has a Start Date of 12.01.2013 and an End Date of 31.03.2013 for ID 15 and this doesn't fit any date range of any Row in Table 1 for ID 15.
