I have an Excel 2003 list with four columns as shown below:
Zipcode CRRT Count Bundles
85710 C004 693 14
85710 C005 867 18
85710 C006 1021 21
I want to "expand" this list to use in a Mail Merge program to produce tags for our direct mailing. Each bundle contains 50 letters, so in the first line on the above spreadsheet, there will be 13 bundles of 50 and 1 of 43. Currently, I can cut and paste to create the following table, but there has to be an easier way...
Zipcode CRRT Count bcount Bundle ibundle
85710 C004 693 50 1 14
So as I pull this into a mail merge I will get a tag that shows the zipcode, the crrt, the total pieces for that crrt, then number of the bundle for example " 1 of 14" and the quantity in that bundle, for example "50 of 693", then the next bundle tag will print, 3 to a page. I know that here has to be an easier way either in the mail merging process itself or with EXCEL? Am even open to build these with ACCESS to create the tags. The beginning database contains anywhere from 350 to 800 lines of original data, so as you can see the cut and paste is VERY time consuming.
Currently we have an excel sheet in which it contains four sheets(sheet1,sheet2, sheet3 and sheet4). In this sheet1,sheet2,sheet3 and sheet4 there is some text data in the columns.
what we are looking is we want a comment box to appear when one moves the cell focus in a sheet (sheet3 or sheet4) to a cell in the field column. In the comment box it should display the data which is in the other sheets(sheet1,or sheet2). The items in the comment box should be data field column, fight type,Defect colour, and list in english column.
The comment should be temporary..i.e it appears when focus is on the particular cell in column field and disappers when focus is moved to another cell.
I have word document. It has numerous feedback and review comments. I want them to be exported to excel work sheet in a specific column with the name of the feedback and comment provider in an other column.
I is it possible to convert all comma separated text files in a single folder in to excel files. But the requirement is to have 2 sheets in each new file. first to be the full file - with all columns, and in the second sheet to keep only colum A B D G H K L M O P R S T V W from the first sheet. The second sheet name must be the same as the first one but without the first "wlist_" in the name.
One more thing. The third column in the second is called "COUL". there are short letters for colors in french
can they be converted with the sort in English like it goes:
NO = B BA = W RG = R SO = P JA = Y BE = L VE = GY GR = G VI = V MA = BR BJ = TA OR = O
Here is a link to the both CSV and an example excel file with the end result. In this example i haven`t change the shorts for the colors. It takes me too much time with the find and replace function. And at the moment i`m really pushed from time.
I have a few dozen pictures created when a macro runs. They all have unique names. I'd like to add comments to cells, where the cell.value decides which picture to pull. All the examples I've found online show how to do this if you have pictures saved on your hard drive by referencing the file path "c://mydocs/...blahblah/"
Is there a way to reference the pictures I've created/named with my macro?
Here's the snippet of code that creates the pictures and names them:
Code: For i = 2 To Application.CountA(Sheets("Allocation").Rows(1)) Sheets("Allocation").Activate Set rInput = Sheets("Allocation").Range(Cells(1, i), Cells(10, i)) sPicName = "_" & Sheets("Allocation").Cells(1, i) & "_" sSheet = Sheets("Allocation").Cells(3, i) dDate = Sheets("Allocation").Cells(5, i)
Here are some examples that are close to what I'm looking for.

I have a workbook, which I use for different departments that displays a number of different pie charts and I have found that a particular pie chart omits a specific label repeatedly. The pie chart displays the wedge within the chart itself, but does not display the label. At the moment I have data labels with percentages. All other labels display, of which there are 7. I found a solution that fixes the problem each time it arises and that is to select Chart Tools/Format/Series 1 data labels and then Format Selection. When I then select any data label, I click on "Clone Current Label" and the missing label appears with the correct percentage amount. I use the workbook for multiple uses and rather than have it present as a template (*.xltm), it is a macro-enabled spreadsheet (*.xlsm). Could this be related to the problem?
This is easy enough, but I only want to have items listed if every field on the row is unique which I can do, but is it possible to only display these unique lines and have any lines that contain a duplicate not be shown as a blank or anything else?
I have an excel file with 2 different columns filled with letter combinations which I need to update every now and then. I would like a code that will automatically fill in the codes not available in each list at the next columns.
See attached Sample Data to look how it will look like : Sample Data.xlsx
My Excel 2007 worksheet contains a cell where a percentage is manually input. A freight cost is calculated based on the input percentage. Typically, the percentage is 3-7% but once in a while freight is excluded and the percentage is zero.
My issue is that when a 0 is input the cell appears blank and I would like it to display 0.00%. The remainder of the worksheet needs to have the zero display turned off.
I'm using Windows XP with MS Excel 2003. I have a pivot table representing a survey. Let's say I've built the survey outside of excel and I've imported the response data into Excel. One of the questions in the survey is "ratings" and the possible valid responses for it is: "Excellent", "Good", or "Poor". In my data set in excel let's say I have 10 responses or rows and all the responses for the question on ratings are either "Excellent" or "Good". (There are no rows with a "Poor" value in the ratings column).
For example, let's say out of the 10 responses, 6 are "Excellent" and 4 are "Good". As such my Pivot chart shows two bars: one for the number of respones with "Excellent" (10) and another bar for the number of responses with "Good" (4). My delima is how to show a third bar showing "Poor" with a zero as the number of responses.
I am building an application through Excel to update specific internal website information. My question is, is there an easier way to identify and view the tags on a web page without having to right-click and "view source"?
Column A & B has a list of Supplier Part numbers and Buyer Part numbers as below.
Supplier P/N Buyer P/N
Cell D2 is an open cell that any data can be entered into as a search term. What I am trying to do is search for a Supplier P/N that have the characters "H", "G" or "E" in it, so entering "HGE" into cell D2 would display the results into columns F & G as below.
Supplier P/N Buyer P/N
I can easily do a formula for 1 character or a string of characters.
To complicate it further, if the search term has in this example has "YFF", I would like the same formula/code to workout that the result in F & G should show this time
I am about to re write my vba project as I can see that I need to make it more robust. One of the main issues I have is that the source XML file is not controlled by me. The quality and content is consistent but sometimes the order of the columns is different. At the moment that totally throws out my macro as it relies on certain columns for certain functions.
Trying to nut out the best way to import an XML file, keep only the specific columns I want - by content not location so then all follow on formula's will work and reference the correct data.
I have one theory that I can't get going. I thought if using defined names based on column headers this would allow me to keep and sort the columns I want. I can't find any examples to support this. I have been looking at the advanced filter but most examples reference exact cells which isn't flexible and leaves open to wrong data being pulled. Since I can't control the source doc what can I do?
Name of player Score of round bag tag the player came in with bag tag the player is leaving with
Here is what I'm trying to accomplish. I usually just copy and paste (then sort the data) but I want a spreadsheet that I can enter raw data and just look at the results I will already have the players names in my sheet. Before the round I'll get everyone's tags it will not always be in order (EX: 1,3,15,22,34,66...etc) some tags will always be missing. After the round I'll enter the scores. What I can't figure out is how to leave my sheet in alphabetical order and have my spreadsheet populate the "leaving tag" column with the correct tag based on the players score....
name score tagin tagout bob 22 2 2 carl 44 15 23 ed 33 23 15
Can't tell if that translated, couldn't use a table....
basically I would like to leave column A where it is the whole time add the data to column B and C The use the data from column B to sort the values from column C numerically to column D (basically copy and rank then display the numbers in order). To throw in a twist if the data in column B is the same for two or more people the formula would need to take the lower number from column C to determine who gets the lower tag in column D.
having to create some kind of database in access....
I have a pie chart, and the value's are based off of a refreshable query. How can I set the pie chart tags to, for example, =C14 and then the next tag =C15?
I know you can go to source data, and select the cells that you want the pie chart to display, but the problem with that, is when the data is refreshed the data in the cells refresh, whereas the pie chart tags do no.
Any way via VBA to remove HTML tags from a string that has been imported into a cell?
For example, if the cell contained(bearing in mind I can't actually use HTML tags in this post...
"LeftPointyBracket" B "RightPointyBracket" CatDog "LeftPointyBracket" I "RightPointyBracket" Elephant "LeftPointyBracket" B/ "RightPointyBracket"I would need CatDogElephant returning. So, any pointy brackets and anything between pairs of pointy brackets needs to be removed.
Basically I have a large database of folders of examples of projects/notes etc, each with essentially lots of potential topic "tags". I want to sort them to be able to tell the macro what topic I am looking for and it give me the folders that contain that info. I will need to tag each folder individually (which is no problem). I am looking for a piece of script (that either exists or that I can write) that will do the following:
- tag specific folders with numerous "tags". The folders will all be stored in a database. The tags will be user input.
- sort these folders based on specified tags and show filepath/location/name/file number or something unique based on the tags input.
