View 7 RepliesI am having trouble writing a macro that will draw a line relative to what cell is currently selected. I can only get the macro to draw a line in one specific spot.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to draw a (time) line from the top left corner of a cell (say C3) to top left corner of a cell (say i10) in a Macro. Both start and end cells (column & rows) will vary depending on certain input values which I can convert into a cell reference. Line must overlap on both ends by two column widths.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have one excel file sheet in which we enter client data and another page in the same file that formats the data. Each new row is another client.
It is a simple formula in the data formatting sheet ='data sheet'A23 for example.
The problem is when we add client data above A23, say 2 rows, the format data page will follow the original cell and now say ='data sheet'A25.
How do I keep the cell as ='data sheet'A23 no matter what I do the original page?
is does anyone know if there is a way of marking the y-axis in a chart with data from a table, so rather than having a fixed segmentation width have the distances between the data points marked on the Vertical to conform to a range in a spreadsheet? I know you can do that for the x-axis. Is there any way to do that for the y-axis as well?

I than have a two column tables in sheet two with uniqe fruit in column A & corresponding colors in Column B-H.
Is there a way for me to place an "X" on Sheet1 based on a lookup on Sheet 2, where the fruit intersects with the colors? I sure hope that's clear - I can't think of a better way to explain it. Or if there's a better way to solve this many to many matrix - do tell.
I like to create a float chart in excel. for this purpose I need to have a candle chart and add lines into the same chart. I can create a candle chart in excel. But as soon I add lines to it (additional data rows) the candles are distorted. The principle I'm interested in applies as well to: how do I add moving averages into an excel candlestick chart? As soon as I add the data for the MAs, the candles are distorted.
In short: how do I combine candles and lines in one chart?
I have this code that colors the lines in my Line Chart
Sub ColorLines()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Set chrt = ActiveChart
'Here you want to put your own graph
vals = chrt.SeriesCollection(1).Values
'These are the values to determine later whether the line moves up or down. In this example, I just colored 1 seriescollection (= one line in your line graph), with an extra loop you'd do all lines.
It is very simple: When the lines goes up they turn black. When they go down they turn red.
The code work, but only if all cell in the series is filled. If one cells is blank the code error. I'm using #NA() in all cells that are blank, so the chart skip that cell and continue from the next cell's value.
I'm trying to create an area chart to show the change in the number of staff working in my store over time. Unfortunately, Excel likes to draw diagonal lines. That is if I have the following data:
9:00AM - 1 staff
10:00AM - 2 staff
11:00AM - 1 staff
Excel will draw a diagonal line between each data point, rather than creating a box. This gives the illusion that there are somehow half people working at 9:30 and 10:30. Is there a workaround?
I have an xy chart for which I would like to format the lines to be different patterns beyond those available in the format series dialog. I recognise that this will mean using VBA and I am happy to do that. I would like to be able to use patterns in the same way as they are used in a column chart.
I recorded a macro to see which properties were changed when the patterns are selected in the dialog for the xy chart and it is clear that it is only the LineStyle of the border and that there is no interior.
With Selection.Border
.ColorIndex = 57
.Weight = xlMedium
.LineStyle = xlGray25
End With
This would explain why when I use debug.print ser.Interior.Pattern I get -4105 or if I change ser.Fill.Forecolor etc it has no effect.
Is there any way to use user defined patterns to colour the lines in the same way as in a histogram/coloumn chart?
Usually Line Graphs show behavior of a process over time. That is why Excel smoothly interpolates between two values.
I would like to show the influence of some laws on technical requirements. Laws kick-in on a certain date, hence they are NOT smooth.
How to make Line Graphs that jump from one value to the other?
I already tried colums that without a gap and an overlap, but they are out of sync.
For clarification I made an example worksheet in which the question has also been illustrated.
I have a list of items on which I need to calculate the SLD, normally I would just divide the Acq Cost by the Salvage period (5yrs) to calculate the yearly depreciation. However I have been asked to calculate it from the Cap Date, therfore the first year would only be a portion of the year and the final year would also be a potion of the year.
So I'm trying to calculate the depreciation period for an asset with an Acq Cost of £12500 and a Cap Date of 27th July 04 over a 5yr period from that date.
Is it possible to put in Trend Lines when creating a stacked column chart?
I've tried in Excel 2003 and 2010 but it doesn't appear that it is possible.
I am trying to generate a column chart with a high-low range overlay so that it looks like error bars. I've precalculated all values but cannot figure out how to add the high-low range lines. The ranges are in the min and max columns.
I tried using custom error bars but it did not work.
if I wanted to slowly move a shape (small circle) in a straight line between cells R20 & W7.
The straightest line possible is by drawing an arrow line between the 2 cells.
Is there a way to then use this arrow as a guide for moving the shape?
In other words, would it make sense for the porgram to draw a transparent line between the cells, and use that line as a "path" along which to move the shape?
I just don't know if this is worth the trouble.
I have a chart with sales data on one axis and inventory on a secondary axis. I have the average of each columns of data and want to add a reference line to each axis with it's average. I have added the averages to my data set, but it only adds the reference line to my primary axis. I actually began by manually inserting two lines to the chart (which seems asinine). They actually didn't print because they weren't actually on the chart, but rather just on the spreadsheet behind.

Code:
Sub RemoveLines()
Dim ser As Series
For Each ser In ActiveChart.SeriesCollection

However, when I run the code, I got "Object doesn't support this property or method". I did select the chart. I have excel 2003 with vba 6.5.
I want to add a user-form on a chart, which will have check-boxes that will allow me to select series(lines) that I want see and compare in a chart. Currently my line chart has 24 series (Lines) which makes the chart very difficult to view and looks very busy. How do I add list of check-boxes that will allow me to select one or multiple lines that I want to see at a time?

Tried
Code:
Application.CommandBars("Quick Access toolbar")

I've dug through the chart options, but didn't find a way to show the major grid lines on the Surface Chart itself.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently got a new computer and this problem is driving me nuts.
When I click view!toolbars!drawing, nothing happens. No drawing toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen where it used to be. There's a small "drawing toolbar" icon on the main toolbar, but whether this is depressed or not makes no difference either.
I understand this may be changed in the 2007 version, but I’m using Excel 2000
I want to have 2 cells where I can enter 2 numbers (length & height) so that a grid can be plotted. For example, a big sheet of paper size is length 30" x height 8", if first number is 10" (length) is entered, it will plot 3 lines across 30" (cos 30" divided by 10" equals to 3) and if I enter 2" (height) on 8", it will then cut it into 4". Attached a file for better understanding.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIn my attached sheet I've to find out final result in Column "F" (green shaded). My boss many times a year increases salary by certain percentage (say 30% or 40%) which is given in "E" column. After that I need to adjust it according to Pay Scale given in right side. For example one Executive's salary reaches 19880 after % increase. Now in pay scale we see in executive (row no. 13) it crosses 19800 so his final salary should be next upper value i.e 20600 (if it reached to 20700 after % increase, then his final salary could be 21400). That is final salary should be multiple of designation's increment plus minimum gross salary (Here 800X10=8000+11800=19800, since it exceed by 800, so salary should be 800X11=8800+11800=20600)
So we can either pull data from right side table or we can give formula in "F" column to get the required result.

I want to use VBA to update a drawing object's color, such as a circle.
For example, pretend I am counting sheep and I need to know when I have reached the maximum count by the visual aide of a stoplight. The script in my head reads: If the max. count of the sheep is less than 5, then the stoplight is green. If the max. count of the sheep is equal to 5, then the stoplight is yellow. If the max. count of the sheep is greater than 5, then the stoplight is red.
Is there a way to do such a thing on excel and with VBA?
