I have a spreadsheet sent from another company. The cell has the date first and then the time. My formula figures the time only so I need to drop the date. I tried to change the cell but it won't change. Any suggestions. The spreadsheet used to have the time only and I would convert it to am/pm. My formula doesn't work with the new setup.

I need to get a formula to calculate the average of the best 3 scores out of 4, but there is some that do not have a value in a cell (so some are only out of 3 scores not 4) and if i simply drop the lowest value and sum the rest, it will incorrectly calculate the average.

When I save my file as a csv, it drops leading zeros in my zip codes. Formatting the column as text or even zip code only helps when I save it as xls - as soon as I switch it to csv it drops them.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a macro that goes out to a database and pulls in updated numbers. However the numbers come in as text because they have leading 0's:

The only way I can get the numbers formatted as a number and drop the leading 0 is to click on the yellow exclamation tab that pops up and click, Convert to Number. Is there any way I can write this into my macro to automatically do for me? I tried selecting the column and reformatting this way but it would not drop the leading zero:
The idea is to have a sheet that where I can swap the content seen by using a drop-down list. see attachment.

I have the following columns that return cover period dates.

I however need a macro that will delete the cell contents if the "Start of Cover Period" (column AK) date is > than the "End of cover period" (column AL) date.
Thus it must compare ak2 with al2 and if ak2>al2 then clear both cells. if AK2
I am working on an Inventory Spreadsheet. I have need it to date time stamp that willpopulate a different cell /field when text are entered in a different cell/field and will not change all the previous dates entered on the spreadsheetevery time I re-open the spreadsheet. I formula I am using is =IF(E3<>"",IF(D15="",NOW(),D15),"")and it changes each time I open thesheet to do the inventory so I do not know the date of the last inventory. I have a small spreadsheet with basic conditional formatting (my level!) where we record agency staff for eleven months service to enable us to ask them to take a four week break.
I want to add a formula or similar to automatically roll the date forward eleven months when we amend the re-commencement date on their return.
E.g. we type in A1 01/01/09, B1 updates to 30/11/09
Is this possible?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI need an IF formula, that states if a date is more than a month after the date in the cell then it is timely and if it isn't then it is not timely. For example the date in A1 is 12/11/05, if the cell is A2 is 13/12/05 (or any date after that) then A3 should read Not Timely, if A2 is 12/12/05 (or any date before that, including a date before the date in A1) then A3 should read Timely. Is there any way to do this?? At the moment I am having to go through manually and put in either Timely or Not Timely.

I have a spreadsheet where we will be inserting the Arabic Hijri date taken from a Customs document (bayan). On my spreadsheet I'd like to have a column immediately next to the Hijri date that would convert the Hijri date to the Gregorian date so both dates will be visible for our Arabic and Western personnel who will be using the spreadsheet.
I am using Microsoft Excel 2010.
I have a input box that prompts a user to enter a date of a new month - it has to be the 1st of a new month. I have validation that it is a date that has been entered but then i want to validate the date entered is a month ahead of a date in a cell range on a sheet.
It is a monthly reset so it has to roll on from the previous month.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf a1,a21,a41 have a value greater than 0, I wish to stamp cell b1,b21,b41 and so on with todays date, but without the stamped value changing/advancing tomorrow. At the moment cells b1,b21,b41 are copied down as follows. =if(a1>0,TODAY(),"") This works fine, but the date stamp of course changes tomorrow. I can not apply code to the whole b column as cells b2:b20, b22:40 etc have other non-date format data to which the code does not need to apply - the todays date value cell occurs every 20 cells.

if col b has a date then subrtract col a from b and display the # result, if col b is blank then subtract col a from location I store the @ now date - say Col ZZ Row 99? so no matter there is a count of number of days in every row in column D
I have column B with a heading "Days Remaining" and column L with a heading "Deadline". starting with row 5, I need to be able to enter a date in L5 and see the days I have left, from that day untill today, on B5. I need to then be able to enter a date into L6 and see a result in B6 and on and on. Then I need to be able to insert or delete a column and have the formulas still work in the columns with the heading "Days Remaining" and "Deadline"

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been struggling with my Excel 07 Date format. Nearly every time I perform a calculation, enter in a value etc in a spreadsheet my answer is returned as a date. So for example if I enter in a cell: = 5 - 4. I get the answer "1-Jan-1900" instead of 1. I have to manually set the formats to general or number if I want the correct format. The setting seems to be the default one and occurs for all workbooks I open. What can I do to change this.

I would simply like excel to send an email to my boss (example@example.com) and if possible myself 5 days before the deadline date: email subject - '5 days left' . Email content - what ever is in the subject column for the relevant duty.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several hundred rows of date/times which I need to modify just the date (for example 08/23/2007 11:00 to 08/15/2008 11:00). Each row may have a different time so it is just the date I'm targeting for change.
If I manually use the replace dialog, replacing 08/23/2007 with 08/15/2008 works just fine. However, if in code I attempt to use the Cells.Replace function, it does not locate any data to change.
I have found that if I search for the string 8/23/2007, the dates are located and changed. Only when I attempt to find the fully formatted date 08/23/2007 does the function fail.
I've found similar queries on the site, but none seem to handle multiple dates, and my attempts so far have been futile!
Requirement:
I press a button on Sheet1 and am prompted to enter a start date and an end date.
Depending on the dates I enter, all rows on Sheet2 which fall outside the Start/End date range will be deleted.
All dates to be checked against on Sheet2 are in a single column, and all rows are populated, there are no blanks. Dates are in the format dd/mm/yy
I have made a table which contains 2 date columns, Both formatted as date (dd-mmm-yy), the second column is calculated as the first column, + 30, The dates work out fine when adding to a date in the first columns, but from a blank cell it displays 30-Jan-00.

Rather than delete the rows with the blanks in the Started column, is there a formula that I can use so that the cells in the "Finishes" column is left blank when the "Started" cells are blank?
The current formula for cells in the "Finished" column is:
=[@Started]+30
how I can create a formula that would highlight the cell in a colour if the date was past todays date? This is what I'm doing - I have the expiry date of people's insurances. so e.g todays date is 8 th January, so if the insurance had expired 31.12.08, i would want the cell to be highlighted red. I think it may be an IF function but I cant remember.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a start date for a contract in cell AM1. I need AN1 show a date six months from the start date in AM1. I am fine with that part.
However, I would like for AN1 to calculate not only a six-month date but also to auto-update to the next six month date from AM1 once the first six month date is about, let's say, one month past. What I am doing is calculating when a six-month inspection needs to be completed; these inspections are ongoing, so I need them to auto-update.
So let's say a contract was awarded today, 25 JAN 2010. That would be value in AM1.
I want AN1 to produce a date six months from 25 JAN 2010, which would be 25 JUL 2010 (yes, this way of calculating the six month date is fine). Then around, let's say, 25 AUG 2010, I want AN1 to auto-update to produce the next six month date, which would be 25 JAN 2011 (six months from 25 JUL). Obviously the function would need to relate to TODAY() in some way.
