I know what i need to do to get it to open the file I want. I dont know how I set the position of a file that i am opening. In this case a .pdf file.
I have searched and came up with a lot of info for userforms, but I am not working with a userform in this case.
I want VBA to open two separate sessions of IE on two separate displays.
I have not been able get the display part to work and not finding anything so i am not sure if i need separate sessions but would like to do so to be safe (doing it manually on the computers using i have to have separate sessions of IE to do full screen on the two monitors).

I am trying to create a macro that checks and displays the screen resolution for both the Main monitor and the secondary monitor.
Currently I have this code that displays the resolution on the main screen only:

I believe that someone showed me once that you could view the same workbook on two monitors with the vien arrange all mode, you could make changes on both screens and the changes would be saved to the same file similar to arranging two views. I cannot rememebr how to do this or even if it is possible.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a splash page I created and I work on dual screen monitors. Typically I have Excel open on the left monitor and my VBA window (alt-F11) open on the right. If I close my Excel workbook and reopen it, the splash page will always open on the screen that had the VBA window on last. In my case Excel opens on the left monitor and the splash page shows up on the right window. I would like to have the splash page open on the side that Excel opens on (in my case the left side). Wondering if there is some VBA code I can add in my splash page code that would allow me to override this default setting?

This doesn't seem to work with Excel. If I have two different Excel files open I can only view one at a time. I can move across to the other monitor, but then can only view one at a time on that monitor - very frustrating.
When I was using Excel 2010 on my last job I was shown a clunky, round-about way of being able to open two Excel files, one on each monitor. (By opening one file, opening a new Excel document from there, and then opening the other Excel file from the new document, minimizing that file and dragging it to the other screen).
Now I am using Excel 2007 and am not able to view two different Excel files, one on each screen. how I can do this in Excel 2007?

The Quickbooks file opens fine. The Excel workbook never appears to open but

Why would it behave this way? I open both these files manually all the time.

I'm putting together an HR spreadsheet for interviews, showing the progression of a candidate. In column A, it's showing the status. In column B, it's calculating the age of the open recruiting process =NETWORKDAYS(F23,NOW()). This formula will go on for ages, if I don't stop it when the recuritment is over. So.....when I change the status to Closed in column A, I would like column B to stop counting the days automatically....

What I'm trying too do is open a file, make an exact copy and save it under a new file name.
My problem is in the date formula the day is not always the same. In the sample case it's 03 at other times the day will change.
is there a way too get this too work irregardles of what the day might be?

Actually i've downloaded Tracking report of my SPO and this report is on 4-5 csv files (1 file per week). I have to gather data from these 4 files into one Worksheet. I have to do this with command button on my worksheet; with Open file dialogue box (i want to locate the csv files).

I do routine tasks every day which involves opening 3 different files and pasting data into my main file. The data is always in the same format, and the 3 files are saved in the same location (3 different folders through). The 3 files are saved each day and the naming convention is constant, with only the date changing. For example, the files are always saved in C:My Documents and the files are called test_05.02.2013.xls. Tomorrow the file will be called test_06.02.2013.xls and so on.
So each day I will be rolling a file forward and I want to bring in the info from each of these files based on the new day.
How to do 1, and I will do the others (because the concept will be the same).
I have this code that works well for the entire column, but, I only need to monitor every other cell in the columns. the cells I want to monitor are:
B10, 12, 14...B96. the columns to be monitored are B,F,J,N,R. the column part is good. I don't want the pop up box to appear when I change B9, B11, B13 etc...

i have a userform which displays a textbox which shows a variance in price terms based on a sheet which has live data via dde.
I would like to turn this userform into some kind of floating monitor if possible. At the moment - once you fire up the userform - the price in the textbox is fixed and does not change with the cell which fills the textbox on the userform. The only way is if you close the userform and re-open - then you will see the current price. I would like to keep this userform floating so that you can still select other cells on the sheet.

I need to open an excel file based on a date mentioned in the file name, but minus 1 day. The file name is composed with Statistics_date_time.xls
Example: statistics_20140423_142754.xls
Once I need to open the file (only in the mornings), it has to be the one from the previous day to see the yesterdays performance. How can I create a macro that will look at the date in the file and take the one from yesterday?

I've got a couple of formulas in a workbook which lookup values in another workbook. When I reopen the initial workbook the formulas results come back as errors (i.e. #VALUE!) unless the workbook it is looking at is also open. This is not desirable, does anyway know how I can lookup values in another workbook which are not open? The formula which is causing me problems is as follows:

I've encountered a bit of an odd one. I am opening a tab delimited file, which has been sved as an xls. When I open from file manager, it opens correctly. When I open from Excel, I have to go through 3 screen dictating how the data is set up, and the end result is that a couple of the numbers come through as text, rather than numbers.
Failing an explanation - how do you open workbooks as file system objects - currently I am opening them using
Workbooks.Open Filename:=wb.Path & "/" & ws. Range("B1").Value
If I open them by mimicking the FM, perhaps it will work OK.
When it opens the desired file, it increments the file name by 1 each time it is opened (via the macro).
Example;
The first time it is opened you see the file name in the header read "P'Binder L&T Pages" for a moment, then it changes to "P'Binder L&T Pages1"...
I close the file and open it again (via the macro), and see the file name in the header read "P'Binder L&T Pages" for a moment, then it changes to "P'Binder L&T Pages2"...
The file name continues to increment on every opening until the PC is rebooted, then it starts at 1 again.

The cells that I need to monitor are B10, B12, B14.... through B96 and F, J, N, R columns for the same rows. The input values will be stored in cells AM10, AM12, AM14 .... through 96 for the B column results. Then for F, J, N, R will be AQ, AU, AY and BC respectively.
Additionally, when B10 has an input, and the user input box displays for the number of hours, there is a cancel button available, but it does not work. How can I exit the loop and clear contents of B10 if the "Cancel" button is clicked in the dialogue box.

when I run code attached to a User Form, the user form will leave trails (similar to what you see when you win at the Microsoft Solitaire game) when you drag it around with the mouse.
I haven't been able to figure out why this is. Some of my code runs and allows me to reposition my form without issue. Other times, I get these 'form trails' that obscure what's behind the form.
Macro: the system monitors changes to the spreadsheet and then performs actions accordingly. Example: If the value of column c = Bug, then it sets the value of G to Celeste and Column H to Kewill.
Could this macro be changed so that instead of having to enter "Celeste" in this code, it could set the value of column G to the value found in H5 on the sheet?
I tried replacing "Celeste" in the code with H5 but it did not work.
