I have used Conditional Formatting to determine duplicates identified by a color other than black. Is there a way to sort a list according to the color of the text?
I've located the following color sort VBA that sorts worksheets by color and it is working well. I'm trying to modify the code to sort each of the "color grouped" sheets alphabetically. That is, sort by color and then each color group sorted alphabetically.

Does excel 2013 have a fence way to sort a list of alpha numeric numbers and alphabetize in this order A - Z and then 0 - 9.
Ex) Apple, Greg, Rob, Sand, 123, 126, 1000, 2001
Is there a way in Excel to have a list of names with values automatically re-sort whenever any of the values change.
The default sort I have in mind is ascending by values.
E.g.
CITY VALUE
Sydney 100
Boston 200
London 300
Moscow 400
Houston 500
The values change to:
Sydney 5000
Boston 250
London 8000
Moscow 300
Houston 50
I now want Houston 1st, Boston 2nd etc - automatically - without me having to do a sort again by Value.
I have a worksheet with 3 particular columns (L,M,N) that have drop down menus. The menu is populated with items that are referenced on a different workbook (different file). Because there are multiple worksheets accessing the referenced list, this is a master. When I change the master, the lists update, but the cell text does not. Example:
If I chose apple from the list, but later in the master I decide I want apple to be banana, while the drop dowm box will now have banana instead of apple, my cell still says apple.
I don't necessarily want apple to change to banana, but I want a visual cue that this is incorrect. I wanted the cell text to change to red if it is not equal to any of the list items on the master file. I want this to be passive, i.e., I want it to change automatically, so I don't have to press a button or some other activation.
I am struggling with doing a sort, of a group of alpha characters within a cell (Excel 2007). My data was exported from Oracle 8 as a varchar2 and consists of letters.

All I could find were these complex looking solutions involving cursors, plsql, etc. I'm hoping there's a simple solution, maybe within Excel. I've tried different formatting, made sure no other characters were sharing the cells, and tried typing fresh data into a cell (instead of the exported data).
In Excel 2007 I know that if you have a cell containing text that you can change the color of parts of that text like This is the text in my cell and this is red text
But I have a cell with a formula that adds text to the end based on a conditional. I can't see any way to change the text color in this situation. I basically want this formula:
=D_Notes & TEXT(CHAR(10),) & IF(Terms = "Budgetary Estimate Only", "Quote is budgetary only and is subject to change pending final design.","")
I would like to convert them to AppleScript so I can use them in Excel 2008.
From what I understand I should be able to do this with AppleScript, but I have never used it before and have absolutely no idea what I am doing.
Not only do I need to know how to convert the VBA to AppleScript, I need to know what to do to make it run in Script Editor, etc.
There are two VBA Macros, each is to highlight a specified cell range, then turn on cell protection.
It is my understanding that although I couldn't record this into my VBA Macro, AppleScript will also let me unprotect the worksheet at the beginning of the script, and then re-protect it at the end of the script.
Can any Mac users out there confirm that if a sheet is protected that a user cannot group and ungroup rows using the "+" if the sheet is protected using the following...

It works fine on my PC Office 2003 but I hear it won't work on a Mac but I can't confirm it.
I'm working on a tracking spreadsheet that needs to be able to function on both Excel 2004 for Mac as well as Excel 2007 for PC. The code below is written to ask for a date when the status of a particular row of cells is changed to a value other than "". These cells have validation lists where the list itself is just below the cell in hidden rows. It then places the date entered in the corresponding cell to the right of the list choice in the hidden rows and the top row is simply a vlookup to show the date with the status choice.
This way, when the status cell is changed again, it retains the date in the hidden rows while setting a different one. The code below is obviously not the full code, the whole code includes other functions and is a bit long, but I've narrowed it down to this:

I need to sort the attached sample file by colors in Col J and K. In the end I would like the debit amount Col J on 1 row and matching credit entries in succeeding rows until complete. Then move to next debit entry. Final outcome could be another sht or even another wb.

This makes a cell that correlates to the textbox red if the text in the textbox is red.
Now, I loads of these textboxes that all need to run the same code with just the Offset value one digit higher than the last and I was hoping I could create a loop to avoid a huge block of code but I can't work out how to make a constant that will +1 with each loop.
Also, can I assume that a loop will start with the control with the lowest number i.e. Textbox1 and then work its way through the rest of them in order?
i have three categories of data with three filled color cells. i need to sort them by the fill color when ever is required.
example. if i ask to sort the red color it should come first red then another.and if i ask to sort by yellow or green.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use VBA in Excel 2007 to change bar chart series colors. I have found a few posts that link it to a cell background, but I'm struggling to find one that does the font color.
It would be great if I could change the bar chart series to match the color of the text in the A column, so that if I highlighted the value in A1 and changed the text color to orange for whatever reason, the chart updates the value of 1.2 to an orange bar (see below).

What we want to do is swap "A" and "B" so "A" is sorted before "B" and also to change the way"A" is sorted. Certain cells in "A" are yellow and I want to be able to sort by Cell color with yellow on top.
I have various row cells in column (F) filled with the color Green. And corresponding text in Column G. How can I change the text of that particular row to white.
i.e.: if any cell in column F is Green, change the text color of that row in Column G to white?
I am trying to figure something out. Iīve done a waterfall chart and I need a macro to do the following things with the source data (in order):

how to set one entire columns text to two different colors based on another columns values. So for example I have column A and B. Column A has two values called Internal and External. Column B is a title table so the entire column is just titles. We'll say it goes for 20 rows if you need a row count. What I am looking to do change the text in Column B to Red for External and Blue for Internal. I tried the conditional formatting and I just can't seem to find the right option.
I'm using Win 8.1, Office 2013.

I have a list of names (text string) in a column (A) that have associated whole numbers in another column (B). What I would like to do is create a formula that multiplies the text string in cell A2 (for ex.) by the whole number in B2 and return a "list" of the text string in A2 equal to the whole number by which it is multiplied.
Here's a visual example of the results I want to achieve:
Using the above example, I would like to end up with a list in column D with 159 total rows with the text contents corresponding to the whole number in column B.
How would I compare two text fields (old and new) and change the font in the 3rd column (Difference)?
For example:
Old: I can not figure 3 things out.
New: I can't figure 2 things out.
Difference: can not can't figure 3 2 things out.
I am trying to sort a fairly long list of tasks into a custom calendar order. I have created the custom list as Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan etc through to Aug, with one additional heading of "Recurring". The list won't seem to sort by the column where these headings occur. See attachment.

I am trying to get a list to sort automatically. I am running a competition over an 11 week period and entering weekly data that is totalled on a separate "Totals" sheet.
This "Totals" sheet, in turn, feeds a "Scores" sheet which I want to automatically sort in descending order of score in order to show the current positions in the competition.
The data in the list isn't entered directly but comes from formulas that reference cells in other workbooks.
I have found ways of sorting a list when you enter data into the list itself but what I need is a macro that will update the sort order automatically whenever a new value is entered in one of the other workbooks.
I have a wedding list of names and addresses in one long column. The names occur every 5th line. They are not in alphabetical order.

What I want is to sort by number of characters.
I know excel can sort A-Z,,, but I can't see by number of characters??
Is there anyway I can sort this list by No of Characters please??
List does include letters and numbers.
But they are mainly 3-4 keyword phrases.
This is so from a large list all the least amount of characters will be at the top of the list so I can easily see them,, and probably delete most of the 1,2,3,4 character returned results.
