Aug 1, 2008I have fond a couple of posts to achieve this however they all require selecting the picture first. Is there a way to change the picture formula without selecting the picture?

View 8 RepliesI am trying to associate pictures to a dropdown box. The pictures are on a separate sheet. The picture is to be displayed on E20 and the drop down box is in K20. Im not very good at VBA and I accomplished this once before using the =INDIRECT function. But for some reason it is not working now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have excel worksheet with 2 sheets in it. Let’s call the one "Database", it consist of 713 rows and 15 columns with data in of my product. Then the other one "Display Product" in it you type in the code of the specific product so it search for my code and display all of the information of that product code on the "Display Product" sheet and it that work.
Now I want to link a picture to that specific product to the code. Here's the code I used:
Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()
Dim oPic As Picture
Me.Pictures.Visible = False
With Range("A71")
For Each oPic In Me.Pictures
If oPic.Name = .Text Then
oPic.Visible = True
oPic.Top = .Top
oPic.Left = .Left
Exit For
End If
Next oPic
End With
End Sub
Now this code works fine up to a specific limit in my case 66 picture to a product, and I need at least 200 more images in it but I get a runtime error in my macro when I put one more image in. This is where I get the run time error -> “Me.Pictures.Visible = False“.
I don't know if excel is limited to image usage. Or maybe there is another way to do what I want to do with more advance coding.
It's difficult to explain, the attached shows the situation better. Basically there's a picture that is somehow linked to a cell. But, you can update the picture or the cell and the other one gets updated.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt mentioned something about getting comments which display dynamic data as if something metioned in the cells will appear in the comment and on changing the data in the cells, the data in the comments also changes with it..
Unfortunately, I could not save that file or remember the website as my Internet went bonkers...
So can someone please help me with the same....
I got a database that include a link for pictures stored in my drive.

I'm using Excel 2007. I don't see anymore the form creation tool that I have used many many years ago.
I'm using a macro to insert a photo in to a Excel 2010 workbook. If the photo moves location it will no longer display the photo in the document as I belive the photo is being referenced instead of embedded.
If you then use the "Change Picture" icon the photo embeds but how do I get my macro to embed the photo.
Sub InsertPhoto(PictNo)
Dim SH As Worksheet
Dim Rng As Range
Dim MyPic As Picture
Dim sPath As String
Dim PicH As Single

I have a sheet that I use to store machine process data. The way it works is on a main sheet I select the job I need to run and the machine I want to run it in. The sheet adjusts the process to match the machine basicly volumetric formulas and all that works great no problems. But what I would like to do is when I choose a job I would like excel to display a couple pf pictures such as a picture of the part, a picture of the machine with that job set-up in it that kind of thing. Each time I pick a new job the pictures would change with the data.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 50 word docs where people have pasted powerpoint slides as pictures but just used copy and paste rather than paste special, this means when pasted the file sizes are massive.
I have an excel spreadsheet with hyperlinks to evry document where the file sizes are massive and its taking up so much file space.
I was wondering if anyone has a macro or can hlp me with one that, when i click on a link to the word doc, it would open the word doc, and change the picture from .ppt to .JPEG then close the word doc when done.
Im not sure if this is even do-able, infact i am probably talking rubbish, but it would save me like 2 weeks if ti was possible.
I have posted example work book
Sheet1 has a list that changes based upon input in Sheet2
So, I have reference pictures on Sheet2 that I would like to show on Sheet1 under the corresponding value.
Explanation: on Sheet two a value is assigned (in column B) to each category (Column A) and then it is ranked (Column C)
Sheet 1 lists the categories in rank order.
I want pics to show under each category.
I saw some articles online, but have been unable to make it work.
I have a group box with 5 little round option buttons in, what i wanna do is connect the options to an image and when an option is selected the image that corresponds to it shows, then when a different option is picked another image relating to that option shows.
Select option 1, image 1 is shown
select option 2, image 2 is shown
I already have the code to import the picture but i would like it to have rounded corner's. The option if you select the picture then tick format, picture shape and it's the second rectangle in. I can not seem to find that particular piece of code for that particular shape. The other comparison is the (reflected beveled, black) option under picture format.

I have set up a rollover hyperlink so that when I hover over the cell it changes colour and creates a good effect. To do this I have another cell on the sheet that turns to 1 when the cell in question is hovered over.
I need a code so that when that cell displays the number 1. the object (which is rectangle 2) changes from white fill. to a picture I have saved on my desktop.
I cant quite figure out the coding and have been messing about with things like..
if cell range e.g a1 = 1 then rectangle 2 .userpicture " path " else .solid etc.
I am a complete newbie with the camera tool. Is there any way to make the camera tool dynamic so that the cells the tool is referencing can change upon the click of a button or some other form of switch? I am creating my first dashboard and this is the last step for my report to be completely dynamic.

Never mind, I apologize i just figured this one out...
Create a user defined formulaIn the UDF Create an if statementThe if statement's condition is the logistics in the shift mechanismThe value if true is the first group of cells you want in the snap shotThe value if false is the second group of cells you want in the snap shot, The range you want to toggle betweenRename the cell reference of any snap shot you have taken with the UDF name. In my example my UDF is "Dude" so when you select the camera tool it shows =Dude as the cell referenceReference a scroll bar to the conditional cell you selected in the if statement or choose statement. This is the shift mechanism
If you want to toggle between more than 2 sets of data use =Choose instead of =if
Basically, at month end, my company will create a new folder with the name as YYYY_MM (e.g. 2012_11). In this folder, a new file will be created as: earnings_YYYY_MM (e.g. earnings_2012_11).
What I want is to automatically update the link to the most recent file: earnings_YYYY_MM, whenever it is available. For example, next month there will be a new file earnings_2012_12 created in the new folder 2012_12, then the new file will be linked with.
I've recently aquired a spreadsheet previously maintained by someone else. After my initial review the speradsheet has many links that need to be updated, which I do via Edit-Links, but there are also some links that no longer need to exist. I have reviewed all sheets and some links just no longer exist, however when I try to break the link or change the source nothing happens. I have had the original owner also check and confirm and they have the same issue. Finally I tried copying all the tabs into a new workbook, but the link shows up again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a periodic task which involves moving some sheets from an existing workbook and presenting it in a new workbook. There are some diagram that I move as well from the worksheet. However, I also move the source data for the diagrams into the new workbook as well. Everytime I do this I need to change the source data to the new worksheet which is quite tiresome. Is there a smart hack to actually point the diagram source data to the new workbook?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a PPT which is linked with my excel data and charts. Now I have to copy it at different location (Both PPT and excel), But due to change in path; my PPT is not updating with latest data points and charts. I know, I can change link using edit link.
My PPT is having around 50+ link. some VBA code which can replace old path using the current path.
My Example
I have Master Book1 which has external links to Book2, Book3 and Book4.
My Formula in Cell B2 is ='D: empxl[Book2.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1
In Cells A1, A2 and A3 I have the text entries 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
Is it possible to use these Text entries to update the Formula I plan to copy down from B2 onwards?
i.e. Formula would read something like ='D: empxl[ Book"A1".xls]Sheet1'!$A$1
I have a page that is protected so formulas are not changed mistakenly, and have check boxes on the paged that link to cells and display True of False based on the checking of the box or not. If I leave the page unprotected I risk the True or False being changed. Is there a lay to protect those cell from the user but still change when the box is checked or not. The checkboxes are Form Control type.

I have to prepare a monthly presentation for my company. I have all financial data in multiple tabs in excel that have been linked to many powerpoint slides.
The problem is, I update the same excel sheet every month and save it with a different name. How can I change the source in powerpoint to select and update all the slides with all the corresponding tabs.
At present, I use Edit link (ALT+E+K) > Select each slide on the powerpoint> Change source to new excelfile. When I select all the sheets, the "change source" greys out. Hence I have to do it individually.
In Excel 2010, is there any way to paste a picture into a small picture/diagram box, and upon double clicking the picture it would explode to a larger size? And I guess double clicking it again would make it return to its original (smaller) size. I would be pasting several pictures into several different picture/diagram boxes and would need this to be a relative reference so that upon selection it explodes the appropriate picture?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have done the above where when I select a picture name from a drop down list it displays the relevant picture in another cell by using the IF function in the named formula
My question is why cant I use VLOOKUP instead of IF in the named formula. When I use it it comes with an error.
i have saved some pictures in my excel sheet.
in the next sheet i want that when i write the picture name the picture will appear as vlookup helps in the getting text and nos. can i do this with pictures or i tried to get to much from excel.
I am putting together a price list in excel and using images and hyperlinks to jazz it up a bit - what I am finding is that if I insert a 25KB GIF image, the excel file grows in size by over 100KB
why is this disproportionate growth happening and is there a way around it - I dont want my Price List growing too large but need the images....?
I have two worksheets, one with detail monthly information and one with YTD information. So let's say the three numbers I want to capture in the YTD sheet are in columns B, G and I on the monthly sheet. January's data might be in B5, G5 and I5. February's data is in B12, G12 and I12 and so on.
On the YTD sheet in cell C2 I link to Monthly!B5 and in C3 I link to Monthly!B12 so cells C2 to C13 on the YTD sheet show the monthly totals from column B on the detail sheet. On the YTD sheet, cells C20 to C31 show the monthly totals from column G on the monthly sheet, so cells G5, G12, etc. And finally, cells C40 to C51 on the YTD sheet show monthly totals form column I on the monthly sheet.
In the past I've always created all these links manually. After creating the links in C2 to C13 on the YTD sheet, is there a way to use a formula in C21 that uses the link in C2 to create a link for G5?
I want to paste/show a photo in a particular cell (D2) on a worksheet (called PP). I wish to delete any photo that may already be there in D2.
The picture's name (e.g. J-145.jpg) will be found in another sheet (called MP) in cell H1.
My pictures are stored in a folder (lets call it c:pictures) and the one I want has the same name (J-145.jpg).
I've tried many macros but none work.
i m working on a mechanical project , I need to do some modifications to my XLS file that i aint familair with.
