Excel 2010 :: Ongoing Line Or Scatter Chart Don't Want Bar To Drop To Zero On Blanks
Jan 29, 2014
I'm using Excel 2010
I'm working on a workbook for tracking debt. It has 15 sheets. Instructions, Charts (for showing debt change over time), "Invisible" (this is where my chart data is, I plan to hide it), and 12 month sheets. On the Invisible sheet, for example, I have my data set up. I'm pulling the data from other sheets. In the screenshot, I'm using =Month12!P48 as the formula to pull my data from the other sheets. But, the user hasn't entered data yet for month 12, so the line chart drops to zero there. I want it to just stop and do nothing, until there is data in that cell. (I would prefer to use a line chart vs a scatter chart for this, but I have the same problem in both)
I'm working on a criteria matrix in Excel 2010 that automatically plots a single member in a Scatter Chart based on the two values. There are 4 suppliers listed in Column D starting in cell D4 thru D7. The "x" value is listed in Column E starting in cell E4 thru E7. The "y" value is listed in Column F starting in cell F4 thru F7.
The scatter chart will plot the points correctly, however, there are two issues: 1) If I try to insert a data label using the "Series Name," or in this case, the supplier's name, it will lists ALL of the suppliers Column D. It will not list the single supplier listed in cell D4. 2) The scatter chart appears with gridlines as a 4x4 matrix with a total of 16 cells. The "x" and "y" axis both start at 0 and go to 4. I can shade the entire chart one color. However, I want to shade some of the cells with darker and lighter shades.
My X axis range is small 1 to 4. but I want to show minor grid lines at 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 only. I do not want lines at 1, 2, 3 or 4. I am not sure how to achieve this. as switching on minor grid lines, included those at the integers as well as at the half way points.
I am looking for a creative way to display a pie chart within a data point marker of a line chart.
My database has 3 value columns, Type1, Type2 and the Total (Type1 + Type2) these are recorded per day (Date, in Column A)
I have a line chart that displays the total by date, but I want to find a way to display the percentage split of a particular day by type.
I was thinking to load the chart image into the Data point marker, but i don't think that is the best way as the data is updated daily and I would have to do it each day for a few line charts.
The other way I was thinking about was to have a generic Pie chat in the Line chart (Maybe in a corner) and the pie would update depending on way date series was selected or Mouseover'd)
the way that I am approaching it at the movement (Not the best way and by far not the coolest way. Is to have a list of all the dates in a column next to the Line chart and using some VBA, what ever date is selected in the column the pie chart displays the corresponding data. But eh challenge is that when there is alot of dates, I am going to be scrolling up and down.
I am using Excel 2010, but I cant not use the slicer's as the other users do not have 2010, they have 2007.
I have some data where I am plotting cumulative M events versus time (blue). I would like to make a tick mark, or dot or something to indicate when event N (pink) occurs on the blue line. Imagine that I am measuring eating (M) versus time and that I want to show on that line the points when food is delivered (N). this is the plot I desire (ive shown some ticks and dots as examples, how can i do either one?): http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...2F360E1F246391 and this is my data/current plot: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...27974E102C0620
I want to a horizontal line in a chart. There are only two figures with me. One I want to display as a column chart. The other as a horizontal line chart. (I can use both excel 2003 or 2010, whichever is suitable)
I would like to be able to add a line (a trend line) to a clustered column chart. The attached jpg (picture copied from Excel Charts - Easy Excel Tutorial) shows the general structure, with the red (poorly) hand drawn lines representing what I want to add to the chart.
If using Excel's Trend line functionality is not an option, I have already calculated the trend points adequately, so have the data to add as an additional series or combine with an existing series. (using Excel 2010)
I need to plot various data on top of stock charts.
This data could be irregular in date: it could be weekly, or simply random.
To plot this data by itself requires a Scatter Chart.
From what I know so far, you CANNOT DO THIS.
However, I suspect this could be done if I build a Stock Chart from scratch using a Scatter Chart.
Error bars can be used to make the tails, however, I don't know how they built the body bar which has the characteristics of a bar (border, and interior.)
But since I don't really need those two characteristics, I just need a wider error bar line that is provided in the chart edit window. I'm guess through a macro, there are wider line widths assignable.
I am trying to create a scatterplot from some data I have. I attempt this by selecting multiple columns using Ctrl and clicking on the letters above. This results in it plotting only the first selected column on the Y axis with only 1 2 3... on the X axis.
When I however select multiple columns by clicking on a column and dragging to more columns it does plot as I would expect with the first column as X values and the rest Y values.
I know it is possible to create a graph and add data manually but this is way slower and I think that it should be able to be done differently.
I have a text file which is attached as "rawdata". It contains records of something (let's call it temperature) at different times on different days. My goal is to display a graph of temperature versus time so that I can visually analyze trends. I have hundreds of these files, all of different lengths. it is very important that I automate this process as much as possible.
Detail: (Here I describe what I have done so far; if this is inefficient or unnecessary, feel free to tell me) I open Excel 2010, click File, Open, and select the file that I want to parse. It is a TXT file, so the Text Import Wizard comes up. For step one, I select Fixed Width. I select File Origin: MS-DOS (PC-8). On step 2 of the wizard, I create column break lines to place all dates in the far left column. The next column contains the first column of numbers before the first dash (-). The next column contains only the dash - I will later select "ignore this column" to eliminate them. The next column contains the time stamps. I continue adding column breaks in the wizard until all of the data are parsed into columns in the same manner.
In step 3, I format the first column as "date (DMY)". The columns with the dashes I select "do not import". Everything else is "general". I click "finish", and the resultant workbook is attached, called "import".
Now, as to what I want to do: I want to display the "temperatures" as a graph vs a date/time axis. The reason I find this difficult is because the temperatures and times are not in neat columns, but are in 4 columns that go in a left-to-right and top-to-bottom progression and are broken up every few lines. (I am interested only in numbers that are displayed immediately to the left of a time-stamp. Therefore, the "record #"s should be ignored. We can delete the rows that say "record #" if can be done automatically.)
I have a spread sheet with product codes on and 5 different prices types but they have only pulled through 4 times so need to insert a 5th line for each product code
In column b the next available row would be 16 ( the first 30/10/2012 row ), if I use the counta system i would get 7, and the xldown / xlup system would need to depend on where I start, which is what I need to determine
When I veiw this all I get is an immensely huge list of HMTL.
I would like combine (overlay) a bubble chart with a connected point scatter chart. I understand that, without VBA, this is not possible. However, I understand that, by using VBA, the markers of a scatter chart can be configured as circles with their size proportional to values in a specified column. This pseudo-bubble chart can then easily be combined with a connected point scatter chart.
My question is: does anyone have any VBA code to share that shows how to configure a scatter chart as the type of pseudo-bubble chart described above.
I have a simple pivot table that is types by state. I want to know how many types are in each state. In the attached image the answer for Alaska is 5, for Arizona 5, for Arkansas 1, etc. How do I get Excel to tell me that for each state?
I'm using Excel 2010. I have PowerPivot installed but really don't know how to use it yet.
I have created a comparison sheet and compares my old one from last week to the new one I create for this week. It populates cells with the differences and shows me the data from the new sheet. But since my they are so massive A5:AZ20,000 so you can imagine how many blanks there are.I want to create an auto summary or something from the non blanks.
Column A has each properties Unique Identifier And the rest is various info for the property. I would like it to return my unique ID and then the columns with new data that has showed up from the comparison some are text and some are numbers.
How can I get the dropdown list to not include blank cells in the list reguardless if the sort filter is used or not.
Sheet 1 (STATS) is the dropdownlist Cell B12 Sheet 2 (Orders) is the data, I cant convert to tables because the cells are active and storted Column B2: is the data named.
Each time I press F9, the Account value changes because the win/loss is generated randomly. Assuming, I press F9 100 times, how do I create a scatter plot chart with a best line fit for all the account values. I know how to create the scatter plot but how do I save all the values everytime I press F9.
I would like to combine / overlay a bubble chart and scatter chart with straight connectors.
I understand that, without VBA, it is not possible to combine a bubble chart with a scatter chart.
Unfortunately, I am a VBA newbie, and so I cannot write my own code (though I can usually adapt code to my specific environment).
My question is: does anyone have VBA code to share that will convert a scatter chart series (x,y data in 2 columns) to a bubble-style chart (bubble radius in 3rd column)?
i found the appropriate chart example in the chart section which was meant to show how to incorporate a feature which allows a line graphs line to change colour every time it hits a minimum/maxm value-however the example does not exist? re:conditional line
I have an XY scatter with 40 or so different lines displayed.I want to change the thickness of all of the lines. I dont want to have to try and select them individually and change them. Is there any way to do this? Perhaps changing the default thickness of lines for this type of graph?
Currently we have data that is plotted to a scatter plot along with an already defined line. Next, with a straight edge we attempt to draw a line parallel to the already defined line through the scatter points of data. We basically find two points that give us the best fit to the original line. What I attempted to do was calcualte the slope of the original line and then the slope of each combination of two points in the data set. I then subtracted the slopes, found the minimum difference and thought that would give me the line most parallel to the original. This doesn't seem to work. I'm at a loss, any advice?
I am reporting on the amount of certificates issued over a period of time. Basically the government stopped released data on the amount of one type of certificate being issued during this period and started releasing data on another type. I am having trouble displaying this other data which starts around half way into the time period. So all the data starts in June 2010... but this other data starts in June 2012.
If input is entered into column C (range C2:C100), then row cells for columns D, E ,F, H or I must NOT be blank upon save. Could be that one or more of these row cells are left blank by mistake.
An error msg pops up upon attempting to save, stops the save and colors each cell yellow that needs info entered into.
i have 5000+ addresses with no punctuation in them, just seperated by line breaks. i need to be able to add a delimiter (semi-colon, colon, full stop, any will do) to the end of every line of the address, not the cell; in order to extract the info using 'Text To Columns' in Excel 2010
