Excel 2010 :: Check If Cell Not Blank Upon Saving Or Closing And Color Code To Show Blanks
Aug 30, 2012
Looking forward VBA coding for:
If input is entered into column C (range C2:C100), then row cells for columns D, E ,F, H or I must NOT be blank upon save.
Could be that one or more of these row cells are left blank by mistake.
An error msg pops up upon attempting to save, stops the save and colors each cell yellow that needs info entered into.
How can I get the dropdown list to not include blank cells in the list reguardless if the sort filter is used or not.
Sheet 1 (STATS) is the dropdownlist Cell B12 Sheet 2 (Orders) is the data, I cant convert to tables because the cells are active and storted Column B2: is the data named.
Is there a way to create a macro to color code a cell based on the value in a cell, and then look up a value in a table, then color code it based on where it fits into the table?
I have a table of values for about 30 projects. In column g - there is a CPI value (see bold column)
Example: Project ID Name Program PMT SI ID AC Milestone TCP Level [Code] ......
Here is the table:
I have to color code a cell, base on the CPI and how it fits into the table below. So if the current Milestone is M2 or M3 and the CPI calculated is .14 the cell would be colored RED, if the CPI number is 2.01 for M2-M3 I would want cell to be colored Turquiose. If we were at Milestone M6 and the CPI was 2.01, it would be colored blue. If the CPI was .75 at Milestone M5, it would be colored Green
I am using Excel 2010 and basically i am trying to fill a range of cell with a green color if any value was enter in a specific cells. Example: I would like to fill range: A10:c13 with a green color (regardless of the cells content in this range) if a value was entered in cell C10 or C11 or C12 or C13.
I've tried conditional formatting but unfortunately I'll have to apply formatting for every cell and for a range of over hundred cells is not efficient.
I have an array, say E6:E9. I have a single cell C6.
I want C6 to show an X, only if all E6:E9 have an X. If only E6 or E8 have X's, then C6 will remain empty. However if all E6:E9 all have X's, then C6 will display an X.
See attached spreadsheet for example of the sheet I am using.
Problem 1.
Columns C and D show me figures when the number in col A is > 2500 or < 550 when these criteria are not met a 0 is displayed in the cell, is it possible to alter my formula so that nothing (a blank cell) is displayed rather than a 0 - I am wondering if there is something like null which I can use?
=IF(A4>2500,A4,) =IF(A4<550,A4,)
Problem 2.
In column E (normal days) I want to display the value of A if it is > 550 but < 2500 - is there a way of doing this in a single formula? Again I would just like a blank to be displayed if the value of A does not meet the above criteria.
I am using Excel 2010 and trying to change/edit the color of the tabs in my workbook to turn green or red based on a y or n placed in a cell (the same cell on each tab). I have tried variations on several themes others have asked about as well for Excel 2007 and attempted to adapt them to fit my situation but none seem to work. Here's what I was starting with:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Select Case Range("A1").Value Case Is < 2.5 Sheet1.Tab.Color = vbRed Case Is > 2. 5, Is < 4 Sheet1.Tab.Color = vbGreen End Select End Sub
The cell I'm using is F2 and my cell value is simply y or n. I realize the example above references numeric values and greater than/less than options, but I'm not sure how to correct this for my need.
In column b the next available row would be 16 ( the first 30/10/2012 row ), if I use the counta system i would get 7, and the xldown / xlup system would need to depend on where I start, which is what I need to determine
When I veiw this all I get is an immensely huge list of HMTL.
I have an Excel 2010 spreadsheet consisting of many worksheets (20 or so). Each of these worksheets contain detail level data regarding different projects. One of the columns in these worksheets is the 'Status' column (column F). There is conditional formatting on this column where if the text is 'G' then change background to a green color, 'Y'=yellow, 'R'=Red and 'U'=Grey.
The first worksheet is a summary sheet that I would like to pull information from each of the detail worksheet's columns B, D, E, G and H if the status column (Column F) is 'R' or 'Y'.
The number of rows in the detail worksheet can change each week (as few as 0 and as many as 100)
I would like to accomplish 2 things in my Excel 2010 spreadsheet by click a cell which already has a number and formatting in it.
1. How do I change the color of the cell, the color of the number in it, and the border around it. (Make it look like I just pressed a button by clicking it.)
2. At the same time have the text in different cell and the number in the selected cell appear in another different cell. (Text in a different cell = A , and the number in the selected cell = 23, the value in the resulting cell be "A 23") Everything I would like to happen at the same time by clicking the selected cell. I would also like this to be done several times by clicking different cells and not changing the previously selected cells.
I have a table in columns A-D. I am trying to perform a vlookup to return the first non-blank in columns B-D based on the lookup value in column A. Columns F-I are what I am looking for the formula to do. I think I am close with the following array formula but not quite there.
Excel 2010LMN12#N/A3Sheet1Array FormulasCellFormulaM2{=INDEX($B$2:$D$9,MATCH($F$2,$A$2:$A$9,FALSE), MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(INDEX($B$2:$D$9,MATCH($F$2,$A$2:$A$9,FALSE),0)<>"",),FALSE))}Entered with Ctrl+Shift+Enter. If entered correctly, Excel will surround with curly braces {}.
Note: Do not try and enter the {} manually yourself
I was asked to create a userform for the use of our whole team which would enable them to select a name from a dropdown list and then it would display their business contact details in the rest of the form.
I'm running Office 2010 and Windows XP server/enterprise edition (not quite sure which). After some research I've managed to use VBA code to open the userform while hiding the workbook, then when the close button is clicked it closes the user form and it's associated workbook using the code below.
Code: ' ThisWorkbook module Private Sub Workbook_Open() Application.Visible = False UserForm1.Show End Sub 'UserForm module Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Unload UserForm1 ThisWorkbook.Close (False) End Sub
This works great when the excel file is accessed directly. However when the excel file is accessed via the link on my teams Sharepoint site it doesn't. When the Userform is closed the underlying workbook and data is then displayed which then has to be closed separately.
Excel will hang up as if it's gone into a continuous loop (Although no looping macros are active) when you open or close a user form. The task bar in Excel will flash Ready Calculate. Visual basic reports no code is running but excel either crashes or becomes very unresponsive. I have to exit and reopen excel in order to fix the problem . It also doesn't happen at any one specific point it can vary. I have various VLOOKUPs around the workbook and userforms display the correct information. I use the INDEX formula in the control source of textboxes. I also use the offset formula to make sure DTPICKER displays correctly.
I am using 'Option Explicit' at the start of all my code. I have tried a 3rd party code cleaner. No visual Basic references are MISSING
I have a simple pivot table that is types by state. I want to know how many types are in each state. In the attached image the answer for Alaska is 5, for Arizona 5, for Arkansas 1, etc. How do I get Excel to tell me that for each state?
I'm using Excel 2010. I have PowerPivot installed but really don't know how to use it yet.
I have created a comparison sheet and compares my old one from last week to the new one I create for this week. It populates cells with the differences and shows me the data from the new sheet. But since my they are so massive A5:AZ20,000 so you can imagine how many blanks there are.I want to create an auto summary or something from the non blanks.
Column A has each properties Unique Identifier And the rest is various info for the property. I would like it to return my unique ID and then the columns with new data that has showed up from the comparison some are text and some are numbers.
I'm saving information from excel 2010 in to a text file (txt), when doing this and opening up the txt file the below line is saving it with " at the start and at the end of the line.
:32A:110809GBP4,00
Is there any way when saving as a text file without the " pulling through at the start and at the end of the line?
I have a genuine copy of office pro 2010. All works fine except excel!
It seems to be mainly on one workbook I have brought over from open office and on a mac! It wont save due to errors it won't tell you about? It then stops responding or crashes? Wont save as etc....
I have repaired, I have even deleted and downloaded a new office pro genuine and installed and doing the same so i guess it has to be the file?
BUT it seems to work on another laptop we have, same file, same excel????
The only thing i seem to be able to find is in the permissions it has an "unknown account"? Also under the file menu where it allows you to check the file it states something about conditional formatting i have used and not being compatible BUT i cant for the life of me find that in the menus to get rid?
How/ where to save macros. If I save a macro "normally" ("in this workbook") then it only applies to that one file, right? And I can't use it in any new files.
So what do I do if I want a macro I can use in "all" my Excel files?
And can I email a file containing a macro to a colleague, so he can work on the file, using the macro too?
I ask, because I've had trouble with this in the past (tho in MS Word) where I couldn't get the macro to be emailed along with the file...
Also - how can I get an .xls file with a macro to work in newer versions of Excel? And can I use Excel 2010 to save a file with a macro in an .xls format, so it can be opened in older Excel versions too?
I'm working on a workbook for tracking debt. It has 15 sheets. Instructions, Charts (for showing debt change over time), "Invisible" (this is where my chart data is, I plan to hide it), and 12 month sheets. On the Invisible sheet, for example, I have my data set up. I'm pulling the data from other sheets. In the screenshot, I'm using =Month12!P48 as the formula to pull my data from the other sheets. But, the user hasn't entered data yet for month 12, so the line chart drops to zero there. I want it to just stop and do nothing, until there is data in that cell. (I would prefer to use a line chart vs a scatter chart for this, but I have the same problem in both)
I have a problem concerning sending an active word document via mail. I have a worksheet with various information in it, that I am exporting to a word document. I then want to send the word document via email. I want to do this without saving the changes in the word document. I am working with excel 2010. I have posted some of my code below.
VB: Sub letter() Dim myWord As New Word.Application Dim adr As Variant
[Code]....
I get the following errormessage: "Compile error. Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment"
In Excel 2010, I used the camera tool to take a snapshot of a selction of cells. How do I save the snapshot only as a JPG or GIF file?
I know that there are programs outside of Excel that can take snapshots or print screens, but I need to accomplish it using the camera tool so the snapshot is the exact selection everytime. Is the excel snapshot temporarily saved somewhere on my computer where I can access it?
I'm trying to save an Excel file to be opened on Excel 2003, but with some VBA formulas. What is the compatible format? 2003 doesn't open in .xlsm format.
The below piece of code carries out a vlookup on a defined cells value and produces a result in sheet one, however if the column index number in sheet 2 (Database) is empty the result 00/01/1900 is produced.
I'm not sure how to say leave the result blank if the column index number is blank.
