Excel 2010 :: Highlight Groups Of Identical Number Cells In Alternating Grey And White?
Jun 27, 2014
I am looking for a way to highlight groups of identical number cells in alternating grey and white. My goal is to make it clear when there is a repeating set of numbers. Below is an example of what a completed state of this would look like that I created manually. The real form I will be using this code on will have long number which is why I am looking for this added clarification. I am using excel 2010.
My spreadsheet has rows with inspection numbers in column A, but there are varying numbers of rows associated with an inspection number. I'd like to change the color of the rows for every other inspection number to yellow using a formula. I think it has to involve an if/then statement but I can't figure out how to word the formula to just choose every other group of inspection numbers.
Im using Excel 2010 and want to make a formula that will High light the number when it exceeds the past 30 days average. My information is listed vertically in row F..
I'm looking for a way to count groups of alternating rows of "TRUE" values across 3 columns. There will never be an occurrence of more than one "TRUE" value per row. In the sample below, alternating TRUE values occur in rows 4 through 7, so this would be counted with the groups of 4.
I am using Excel 2002 and have had a couple of files that seem to have become corrupted recently. When I try to open the files there is nothing there, no cells just a grey space where the cells should be. When I try to close Excel it asks me if I want to save changes when no changes have been made.
I had not made any changes to the sheets prior to this happening so am struggling to work out what is going on.
I have a spreadsheet that contains thousands of rows and I need to highlight all the duplicates in Column B.
What I need though is one group o duplicates to be colored one color and then the next group of duplicates be colored a different color. I need just a 2 color banding.
My need for 2 colors is that the cells contain 9 digit numbers and there can be duplicate groups right next to each other and for the eye to distinguish a different grouping of cells I need that 2 color banding.
I have the below code that colors everything in one color. Can I be modified or a completely new code to do 2 colors?
Code: Sub Dups() Dim Rng As Range Dim CL As Range
Set Rng = Range(Range("B1"), Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp))
For Each CL In Rng If WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Rng, CL.Value) > 1 Then CL.Interior.ColorIndex = 6 End If Next CL End Sub
Sheet 1 contains range B12:B353 with names of people. Sheet 2 range B12:B353 contains a formula to extract the names from Sheet 1 if range D12:D353 contains a certain value:
=IF(Sheet1!D12:D354="A",(Sheet1!B12:B353)," ")
At the bottom of each column in Sheet 2 I am trying to get a total count of populated cells (a running count of names actually visible). I have inserted formula:
=COUNTA(B12:B353)
Which should count the number of cells with text in them, right? But I believe it's somehow counting the formula as text because I inserted the value of "A" in Sheet 1 Column D for 3 names. It returned a number of 331 at the bottom of my column in Sheet 2. First off, a return of 331 doesn't make sense in any way (still scratching my head at this return. It should have returned a value of 3.
Column 1 has 1200-1209,1300-1350,1523-1563 Column 2 has 1400-1409,1600-1650,1823-1863
I would like to take the range of e.g. 1200-1209 and have excel put 1200 1201 1202 1203 1204 1205 1206 1207 1208 1209 into separate adjacent cells for me. And be able to do this for each column/cell of data I have like this.
I have a Excel 2010 spreadsheet that contains 3 columns of (£) values. I am wanting to highlight a cell if one of these values do not match the other 2 columns. e.g below I would need the middle column to be highlighted as it does not match the other 2 cells.
25,449.47 25,451.65 25449.47
The thing to point out is that it can be any of the cells that do not match, not necessarily the middle column and occasionally all cells will not match and all need to be highlighted.
I am sure I need to use the Conditional Formatting, but cannot figure the formula.
I'm looking for a formula in column F that will return True if there are any negatives or blanks in E for any of that item A? False if variance is blank or all off that item has no variance?
I am trying to create a 100% stacked column which has a superimposed line chart over the top of it.
Basically % of yes and no for two separate datasets, but which share the same characteristics. The x-axis is months of the year.
CSP Yes CSPNo All Yes All No
Apr-13 6 19
[code]....
I can create 2 separate charts. One for the yes/no of one set as a 100% stacked column. I then use 'no fill' on the No column to stop this from being seen.
I can create a 100% line chart for the second data type, and 'no fill' the 100% line that appears.
However, I can't merge the two charts to show the Yes % for one dataset as bars and the Yes % of the other as a line.
In an Excel 2010 worksheet I use three columns. I need a user to be able to input a word or phrase into a cell or input box, and have Excel highlight that word or phrase every place it occurs only in column C.
Can I do that with conditional formatting? Or do I need to use a function? Or do I need a macro?
Highlighed the Column and Row of the selected Cell. I have seen someone using it. Whenever he click on any cell the related column and Rows clour change. For Example if I select Cell B5. The Column B and Row 5 change its colur from B1 to B5 and Row from Column A to Column B. If this option is already available in office 2010
I am trying to use condtional formatting to highlight a row in a table if the order number is NOT on another table, on a different sheet. Example: Order Number 1001 is in my table on Sheet4, Once the order has been filled is comes off my "Pending Orders" table on Sheet1, which is based on a data connection, so it updates once the connection is refreshed. I would like the row with order number 1001 in my table on Sheet4 to be highlighted letting me know it can now be removed, since I have to manually manage this table. I am using Excel 2010.
In column A, I need to highlight the cells green if the value is less than < the values in columns B and C, yellow if A = either B and C, and red if A is greater than B and C. But I only want the formatting to stay in column A. I'm using Excel 2010 and Windows 7.
I'm using Excel 2010 and when I highlight a range and right click 'name a range' is greyed out. I can bypass this by going to the formulas tab and defining a name from there.
Anything I can check to see why this is not an option for me?
Using Excel 2010. Is it possible to change the default line thickness and fill color when selecting the ActiveSheet Target Row below?
I would like a thin border and a light grey fill - without interfering with any fomatting or conditional formatting that has been applied to the worksheet.
I am using Excel 2010. I have a pivot table where I want to highlight the ENTIRE row where a certain cell value equals something.
In essence I want all the Material Subtotal Rows highlighted "Orange" But as you can tell from the picture below I am having issues with the Body of the Pivot table. I have the formula checking to find whenever it finds the word total to highlight it.
The example below is showing how I need the row to be formatted. I can get the Data (Units) section formatted no problem. It is just the other part of the pivot table that I cannot format.
For the columns from Material to SAP # I have been trying to use Dynamic Name ranges using the Offset function. However, excel turns that Name range to a range and if I filter the pivot table, it adds extra ranges to the Applies to box and starts to really mess it up.
There is a one-to-one relationship between Column A and B, but B is not unique (but can only take a small set of valid values). I wish to query how many id's (Column A) contain a particular property (Column B). If the example above ended before the "...", I would like to get as the output:
Code: 566 2 341 1
because the property 566 is owned by two id's (1 and 3) and the property 341 is only owned by the id 2.
I have just looked through most of the postings I could find on the board regarding VBA to identify duplicates. Virtually all of these use the entire column when checking for duplicates.
I am after code which will identify duplicates in column A within a contiguous range of data. For example there is a heading in column B and below this photo details will be entered and in the next column the photo number is entered. Finally a number (for sorting) is entered in column A. The photos will be numbered 1 to whatever. So I need code which will highlight duplicates in that contiguous range of data. Then there is one or two blank rows before another batch of photo details are entered. This means the same sorting numbers are used and are separated by a blank row or rows.

I'm having issues with Excel's 2010 conditional formatting. Seems easy to use, but I'm trying to highlight values based on 2 columns of numerical data. Example:
Column F: 6 6 14
Column L: 3 NA 17
I would like Column L to highlight values that are greater than Column F in green. If they are less than Column L then highlight them in red.
Seems I was able to do this with Excel 2003, but I don't understand the 2010 version.
I need to find a way to do conditional formatting and disabling of a cell based on a value from another cell. For instance if A1=X,Y, or Z, then B1 will get grayed out and cell entry will be disabled. This is so that when skimming over the sheet, you can tell what cells in row B you need to put info in still, and if it's grayed you'll know you don't have to put anything there (and it won't let you).
