Excel 2003 :: Renaming All FileName In Folder Using Macro At Time With Different Names
Sep 23, 2010
Now iam Working in excel 2003, I got a Requirement that, After Downloading datas From SAP, It Directly Stored in Excel Sheet , Using tht Sheet1, I need to rename all the Filenames at a time, Is It possible, Any code is there to rename,
For Example,
From SAP to Excel Sheet Datas are Like this in Sheet1,
I have run into a problem in a project where I know what the folder root of the file I would like to import into excel is, but I do not know the file name.
I would like to open a dialogue open where I can select the file I wish to import from the known root supplied and retain the file name as a string.
All solution I have read assume the full file root is know or file name is known but root is unknown
I have an excel file which consists of old name and new name in two different columns. I have 500 photos in a folder. I want to rename the photos with the new names when there is a match with the old name(same as that of image name) in the excel.
I have an excel file (2003 version) with one sheet called sheet1.
On sheet1 I have multiple text boxes, however each text box has the same text box number "Text Box 1244" (this number appears in the top left-hand side in excel when I click the textbox).
I was wondering if it's possible to rename the text boxes based on their location on the sheet.
Eg. If i had a sheet with 5 rows of text boxes and 3 columns of text boxes (15 text boxes in total).
The top left-hand box gets renamed to "Text Box 1", then the text box below that gets renamed to "Text Box 2" and so on to the bottom of the sheet to "Text Box 5". Then the vba script would move to the text box that was to the right of the first text box (1st row again but 2nd column), and rename all the text boxes in that column ("Text Box 6" onward).
I'm stuck on this problem a while now and cannot find any scripts to solve it. My VBA is non-existent, I usually get by on bits of code I find on the web.
I hope each textbox has a hidden co-ordinate associated with it, then it might be possible to loop through all the textboxes based on their positions and rename them.
I need a macro in a workbook to look at all the files in the same folder that have "*att*.xls" in the name and determine and copy from the range A15:W515 only the rows that have data in at least columns A, C and D. Each file will vary as to how many rows there will be and there are more than the files with "*att*.xls" in the folder. The data will be on the only worksheet in each file and the worksheet is named "G2WAttendee_xls" the data from all the files need to be copied to the file called "Consolidated webinar reports.xls" (I am using Excel 2003) and to a sheet called "Attendance Data" and added to the end of the last paste.
At the start of the macro the current file "Consolidated webinar report.xls" should be saved to a sub folder of the current directory and have the date saved added to the name. The sub folder is called "Completed reports". The data in the original file on worksheet "Attendance Data" should be deleted.
At the end of the process all the files that have had data copied from them should be moved to the sub folder "Attendance reports consolidated" (This could be done as each file is closed if that is easier).
I have headings in row 1 of the "Attendance Data" worksheet that match the headings in the various files in the folder (which will always be in row 14 of the individual "*att*.xls" files).
The folder with all the files and the "Consolidated webinar report.xls" file is at path "Z:P and S MEvaluationsWebinar series 2012-13TB".
I am trying to rename a chart in Excel 2013, but it keeps reverting my names. It looks like there might be a 32 character limit on the name length, but I cannot find any documentation supporting this.
In case it's not clear, I'm trying to rename a chart from Chart38 to "Productivity - Tractors CY/OP - Month", but once I press Enter, it changes back to Chart38. If I can shorten the name to less than 32 chars it seems to work, but that will be nearly impossible for some other charts.
I have obtained a piece of code from online that runs a macro on multiple files in a single given a single folder. when i implement it though it throws a run time error 424 "object required' and point to 'Documents.Open FileName:=path & file' line of code. Is this because Dim file type is not declared?how do i fix this problem. also, im using excel 2010.A
I need to make this macro read FOLDER names instead of FILE names. When I posted this question yesterday to get this macro, I wasn't told that each file in its own folder. I need the folder names now. _____________________________________
Sub test() With Application.FileSearch .NewSearch .LookIn = "C:Ford" .SearchSubFolders = False .Filename = "*.*" .FileType = msoFileTypeAllFiles If .Execute() > 0 Then For i = 1 To .FoundFiles.Count Cells(i, 1) = .FoundFiles(i) Next i Else Cells(i, 1) = "No files Found" End If End With End Sub
I have several (around 35) CSV files that I download regulary. Is there a quick way to rename all the CSV files in a given folder based on adding "Update_" to each file name.
E.g Say two of the orginal files are called:
Monday.csv Tuesday.csv
I'd like to run some kind of macro to rename them to:
Every week I get a folder full of files and I have to rename them with a week ending date...Below is what I hacked together, but it's not working...
Sub Rename()
Dim OldName, NewName, npath As String weekendingdate = InputBox("What is W/E Date??") npath = "J:Test*.pdf" While Smith "" OldName = Smith: NewName = Smith & weekendingdate Name OldName As NewName Wend
I have a system that creates text files once a day in a set folder. I want to have a VBA script that will combine all text files in the folder (C:Daily Folder) into one text file (Full.txt) using a simple cut/paste addition, i.e., the lines from the second file are added after the lines from the first, the lines of the third after those, etc. The order does not matter.
I know there are other threads about combining text files and I'm sure I can figure that out if need be, but the problem is the system creates these files by adding .XXX to the name, with XXX being the file order number. So after 4 days, I have four files named K2500.001, K2500.002, K2500.003, and K2500.004. Windows reads these as being four different file types (.001, .002, .003, and .004). If you click on one of the files, Windows prompts you to associate it with an application. I've tried shell commands such as ren *.* *.txt , but the use of a "." in the file name seems to be a problem. Is there a way to change all "." to "-"? I've tried some PowerShell scripts there that haven't worked. I'd like a VBA solution because I don't know my butt from a hole in the ground when it comes to shell programming and so that it can be added to my VBA script for the Full.txt file.
Maybe the files don't need to be renamed at all--like I said, the end goal is the Full.txt file in C:Daily Folder that contains all the lines from the daily text files.
I use Excel 2003 & I am trying to design a worksheet to keep track of signs I make & their order numbers. I want the names listed alphabetically. When I add a new name & I arrange the column alphabetically, the columns with the order numbers do not relocate along with the names column.
Of course, it can be done by setting names for each cell separately but it takes ages. I would like to know if this is possible to do that quickly due to an add-in or VBA.
In Excel 2003 I am trying to compare two lists of names on the same spreadsheet to determine which names are different between the two columns of names. What is the easiest way to do that?
Unfortunately we don't have 2010 at work so I don't have the luxury of the use of the duplicate function.
I'm using Excel 2003 and need to remove duplicate names from a list; what would be the best formula to do this.
I've done a countif to identify how many occurrences appear; any other formula if greater than to get to the object of how many staff I have in the list
i'm looking for a macro which within a sheet named "foldernamedump" will list in a column the folder names within a directory I specify. I have seen a couple of sample codes but I just cant seem to get them working at all so I think its best to start from scratch and the work i get supplied here is always perfect. I also want the macro to clear the contents of the sheet before it loads again just to ensure there is no old data within the sheet.
I have a 97-2003 spreadsheet with approximately 22,000 lines of seperate companies. I need to know how to insert a blank line between the company names. I have been using the "Right Click - Insert" method but soon realized there must be 2000 different companies. The Company Name column is A.
I was wondering if anyone had any code to loop through every file in a folder and list the file name along with every sheet name in that file? I'm using Excel 2007.
I have created a separate SAVE button that when the user hits that button, it saves the file in a network drive using the current date as part of the save-file name. Ie: Sheet20070408.xls, Sheet20070409.xls, Sheet20070410.xls, and Sheet20070411.xls.
I am currently working out all the "idiot proof" safety features. My code looks something like this:
Why am I saving it twice? When the user clicks SAVE, I want to save over the copy of the current sheet they use, even if they save it on their desktop, and then save it to the network drive. This way, if they keep a second copy in an easy to find location, it will save the data to that sheet as well. Just in case they forget to save on the current sheet. I need to be sure each copy of the file has the most up-to-date information, as well as save a copy for retention.
My question is this: Can I search a folder for an existing file name? If the user goes into the network drive to open an old file for retention and they click SAVE, I don't want to accidentally overwrite a file in the retention folder.
I have to analyze our abandoned calls for the year. So far there are close to 2000 abandoned calls and I need analyze them according to the month and the time they were received.
I have two worksheets in my workbook the first worksheet is named DROPPED, this is were all the data is. The second worksheet is called DROPPED CALLS SUMMARY, this is where all the analysis happens.
On the DROPPED CALLS SUMMARY Worksheet I need to have the Sum of Column I IF ColumnA is equal to Jan-13(or whatever month) and Column B is equal to 8:00 AM (or whatever time). I'm using Excel 2003 so I cannot use the SUMIFS Formula and I can't find a formula to work with.
I have an access database where I export a file into excel on a daily basis. The file is saved to a different filename daily because I have added the date to the filename. My question is I have a formatting macro spreadsheet so when I export the file in access it will run the formatting macro in excel to format the sheet appropriately. How do I get the formatting macro to recognize to run if the excel file changes on a daily basis in vba?
This is what I have in the formatting macro:
Sub Auto_Open() ' ' AutoOpen Macro ChDir "G:SD Forecast and PlanningShortages" Workbooks.Open Filename:= _ "G:SD Forecast and PlanningShortagesShopWorkingList10052011.xlsx"
How can I get the formatting macro to run on this file when the date changes constantly in the filename?
I would like excel to create the folder C:/Bill if it doesn't already exist when I click save/save as option and save the workbook in it with a filename that is a combination of text/values in cells A1 and A2 on Sheet1. Better if the save as dialog box appears with this option selected so that I have to just click Save in the save as dialog box to save it in "C:/Bill".
I'm trying to use the code below to paste special my first sheet to remove the formulas, then delete all other worksheets then save as a reference number (which is linked to the worksheet im saving) but I also need it to save in a specific folder.
I'm creating some userforms for a spreadsheet on Excel 2003 and was wondering if it is possible to have the date field and time field as drop down boxes?
I would ideally like the date field to have 3 drop down boxes (date, month and year) and then the time field to have 2 drop down boxes (hours (in 24 hour time) and minutes).
The date and time would then populate one cell each on the spreadsheet.
I am creating an invoice form in Excel 2003. I like to know if it is possible to increase the value of cel A1 by one everytime a new sheet is created.
For example i created my first worksheet and gave an invoice number 001. Now I create a new worksheet by right clicking on the tab and choose copy/move. I like the second work sheet change the invoice number to 002.
I have a work book that I have to copy over 70 times for over 70 work locations. As you can see, this will require different file names for each location.
I would like some have help with a code that I can use. If possialbe I like a code that will make copies of the file renaming each with the names I have on another list. Is this feasible?
Sorry that I'm very new in Excel VBA coder. And, for this topic, I don't even know how to start. I want to make a MS Excel database of a numerous files. This database must be consist of Filename, Location, and it's attribute (let's say updated date, size, hidden status)
