I have a string in a cell that contains a name, a 3-4 character alpanumeric code and then a 4-6 digit number, each separated by a space. An example or two:
J Bloggs SPEC 123456
J Smith AG06 9364
J & K Brown SWP 358686
I need to be able to have in a new cell the 4-6 digit number at the right of the cell. give a formula that will separate the data I need? I've tried numerous ways without success.
I want to extract the fifth and sixth digits from an 8 figure number i.e. 20010891 would equal 10.
I have tried every combination of Left & Right combined with Find that I know and nothing works.
I would like to extract numbers based on the first 2 digits (22....) of a column along with its next column (on the right) and put them on another sheet.

I have a long string that has a list of digits in the middle that I want to extract. The string is variable length and the number of digits I want to extract is 5-7. I also have slashes in between the numbers I want to extract. I need a UDF that allows me to extract the 5-7 digit number from the string and restrict around the slashes (i.e. if two sets of digits in the string match the condition for extraction, extract the one around the slashes.) For example my original data is like
1. aaa/12345/aaa/123
2. aaaaa/123456/aaaaaa/3423
3. 323/aa/1234567/aa
and I want for results
1. 12345
2. 123456

Hope this is clear. bearing in mind the number will remain as one so I would need to start at 14 then using LEN or something I'm not sure, extract the following 8 into another cell.
I basically I have a column with numbers. All the numbers are positive integers. What I like to do is have a VBA function that extracts the integers with the largest number of digits. So for example if we have the following column:

So basically we search for largest number of digits, and extract the numbers that fit this category, which could be just one number or multiple numbers.
I have a text field (description) and in the description i have a product code S followed by 7 digits and then in the process of pasting into excel i have lost the space after this code and before the next text. I know how to remove the first part of a text, but not the end. I have a very large amount of data in which the first column contains a product description and then the UPC code. I need to isolate the product name from the UPC code into 2 columns. I used =RIGHT(B2,14) to isolate the UPC, but since the length of the product name varies, I'm not sure how to isolate the product name. I have looked at using the TRIM and TRUNC functions without any luck. 'Text to columns' doesn't work because I have multiple spaces, 'Text to columns' would work if I could used 2 digits as the delimiter, but the function doesn't allow that.
Can someone please suggest a function or formula for this?

The text is in rows of column A and always contains a 16 digit number, which is what I need. I am able to clean up this text and show only this number, but then Excel shows the last digit as a '0'.

I've altered some of the information in here so this is fake. The text is messy but all I need is the number.
This is the macro I use to clean up the text and leave only the 16 digit number:

It sort of works, but when I run it, I get this number as a result: 7062542158461680 (last digit is changed into a zero).
I've been trying to insert this line into the macro but it doesn't work: Columns("A:A").NumberFormat = "@"
How do I change the outcome of this macro into the actual number?
If this is impossible to do, I can also manage if there is a way to filter only the last 9 digits from the 16 digit number. I can work with that, too.

I am trying to write a bit of code to go into a macro and as I am very much a leaner, I thought I would create the formula I need and record it, then copy in the relevant bit. However, I cannot even get the formula to work - never mind the macro bit!! The formula I am trying to do is something like this...
In column S:S
IF the first digit in R2 (and eventually R2 to R lastrow) = 1 to 3, concatenate Q2 (and eventually Q2 to Q lastrow) + "/" + "Q1"
IF the first digit in R2 (and eventually R2 to R lastrow) = 4 to 6, concatenate Q2 + "/" + "Q2"
IF the first digit in R2 (and eventually R2 to R lastrow) = 7 to 9, concatenate Q2 + "/" + "Q3"
IF the first digit in R2 (and eventually R2 to R lastrow) = 10 to 12, concatenate Q2 + "/" + "Q4"
Column R:R has the year and the first digit of Q:Q hold the month so I want to end up with 2007/Q1 etc.

How to convert any types format into Text with 5 digits in selection?

I am editing a wine database which contains a vast amount of data, one column has the wine name and sometimes the vintage year in the begining or at the end of the cell. Sometimes the year is made of 2 digits (03, 05, ..) or 4 digits (1978, 2004, 2005, ...).
Is there a way to remove this vintage year form the string?
to make matters worse, there is often a single quote/apostrophe in front of the vintage year, which is driving me mad as 98% of the time it is one of these hidden ones that cannot be deleted using the find/replace function.

Ideally I would love to cut the vintage year, whether 2 or 4 digit, whether on right or left of cell and paste it in another cell, so to avoid manually doing it.
However, this is surely too complicated to do, so iwould settle with just deleting the vintage year and manually typing the vintage in another cell.
I have a set of task descriptions that I am attempting to trend on. Some of these (Column B) have the customer's name added to the description; others do not. I need to be able to make a list of task names (ColumnA), removing the name from the text string.
The formula I am using is [=LEFT(B3,FIND("for",B3)-2)].
The problem I am having is when the description does not contain the "for" built into the formula, I get "VALUE" error. What adjustment can I make to the formula to pull over the Description if the "for" does not appear in the text string?
An original text string entry appearing in an Excel cell would be:
"N7C Neuroprotective J5Z Antiviral, other M2Z Antiarthritic, other J5A Antiviral, anti-HIV"
I need to extract N7C, J5Z, M2Z and J5A from this string and list these alphanumeric values in separate cells adjacent to the original text string. The challenge is that these alphanumeric references may appear in different positions within the original string with no fixed value e.g. a "," separating them. The alphanumeric references may also be 3 or 4 characters in length and there may be different numbers of alphanumeric references in the original string.
Another example would be (very different from the first):
"T2Z Recombinant, other K5B Radio-chemoprotective J3Z Antibacterial, other D3A Vulnerary A10C Symptomatic antidiabetic K6Z Anticancer, other R8A Antiasthma B6A Septic shock treatment I1Z Immunostimulant, other S1Z Ophthalmological R8B Antiallergic, non-asthma M1A1 Anti-inflammatory"
You can see that in this further example "A10C" & "M1A1" are 4 character alphanumeric strings wheras the others feature 3 characters.

I have a cell in my worksheet with a fully qualified filename like 'D:abcDefGHIJklxyz123.app
I would like to extract only the xyz123.app. Obviously, the number of characters is going to vary based on the filename. The find and search functions appear to locate the cell but not the substring in the text. The right and left appear to work based on number of characters and in my case these are varying. Also, there does not appear to be any function that can do a search a string from right to left.
So let's say the following text is in cell A1:
