I need to extract all instances of words that have format xnnnnnn, where x is an alpha character (letter of alphabet, to be precise) and nnnnnn are numbers. The words could something like u435586. The problem is I do not know how many instances of these words are in the string. The entire string is contained in a cell. A sample string could be something like:
I'd like to extract just "blue.red.yellow.green" to the following spreadsheet column, keeping the intermediate dots, but getting rid of the first/last words and their succeeding or preceding dots.
I've tried using RIGHT, LEFT, MID formulas unsuccessfully
I have a text string with 3 data to be extracted and then split throu range, but only specific parts is needed.
string is like that: Name Surname - Number : ################ - Exp : YYMM - Centre etc etc....
Lets say its allways happens in cell A3, for example: Adrian Kukuwas - Number : 1235467890123456 - Exp: 1009 - Centre... I would like a macro:
*that runs only if string starts with a letter, then if so *takes Adrian Kukuwas to cell D3 *takes 1009 (the exp) to B3 and makes it look like 09 10 (or 09_10) *in A3 leaving only the number 1235467890123456 text formated (sometimes the copy source formats the cell for bad)
I've found several posts about returning variable substrings that dealt with one or two spaces, but I have not been able to find anything that is for multiple spaces. The number of characters before the substring will remain constant.
For example:
Income from transmission agreement - 83 subs @ $0.44
In this case I need to extract: 83
Income from transmission agreement - 10,312 subs @ $0.50
the last 4 caracters are numbers. I need to test these numbers and sum the corresponding values them in a single cell without adding new column(SUMIF like).
so in the above example I need to sum all ending at 1244 or 1519, therefore the sum showed in the single cell equals 225
to extract from a single cell: =VALUE(RIGHT(D8;4))
I tried to use an array formula but it seems to crash if a blank cell is in the array
I am trying to create a string of text that grabs info from other cells, which is easy so for example
=A1&A2&A3
would grab all the info from the 3 cells and merge them to create a string, but what I want to do is create a prefixed length.
Lets say A1, A2 and A3 would equal 10 characters in total but B1, B2 and B3 would equal 7 characters, these would be different lengths. so for a visual description I would like them to appear like this
At the moment
01MAIN-HELLO 01DESSERT-HELLO WORLD
Would like
01MAINXXX-HELLO 01DESSERT-HELLO WORLD
This would make both strings the same length and would make it easier for me to export to a custom file that needs a certain length prefix.
I need to know how to format columns in a spreadsheet. What I want to do is autofit the columns, all except for Column A; I want that want at a fixed width of 9. The code below is my attempt to do this, and it's not resulting as I wish. Stepping through the code, it performs the first part beautifully and autofits all of the columns. Where I have the line
I was wondering if i could arrange some sets of data (on one sheet) in fixed format and create a new sheet for each set of data using VBA
I have some sets of data in sheet (similar to the sheet "Raw data" of the attached file) first four rows contain costumer-1 details, next few rows contain bill details of costumer-1, again, next four rows contain costumer-2 details, next few rows contain bill details of costumer-2, and table goes on for around 10-20 costumers
Now, I want to arrange the given set of data of each costumer into a fixed format (as sheet "reminder pad" of the attached file) and create a new sheet for each costumer
Also I want to add reference no to each sheet (with automatic increment for each sheet)
I need the different categories to be separated into separate columns, but they do not appear to be separated by anything useful or a fixed width. Not only that, but the last few columns were moved onto a second line when I copied the data into Excel for some reason. The data originally came over in an Adobe Acrobat file. This is what the final product should look like: ....
An original text string entry appearing in an Excel cell would be:
"N7C Neuroprotective J5Z Antiviral, other M2Z Antiarthritic, other J5A Antiviral, anti-HIV"
I need to extract N7C, J5Z, M2Z and J5A from this string and list these alphanumeric values in separate cells adjacent to the original text string. The challenge is that these alphanumeric references may appear in different positions within the original string with no fixed value e.g. a "," separating them. The alphanumeric references may also be 3 or 4 characters in length and there may be different numbers of alphanumeric references in the original string.
Another example would be (very different from the first):
"T2Z Recombinant, other K5B Radio-chemoprotective J3Z Antibacterial, other D3A Vulnerary A10C Symptomatic antidiabetic K6Z Anticancer, other R8A Antiasthma B6A Septic shock treatment I1Z Immunostimulant, other S1Z Ophthalmological R8B Antiallergic, non-asthma M1A1 Anti-inflammatory"
You can see that in this further example "A10C" & "M1A1" are 4 character alphanumeric strings wheras the others feature 3 characters.
I'm running 2007, and have a mailing list that is setup - A1 = text(full name of company), A2 = text(full street address, city, state, zip) NO PUNCTUATION.
I have been able to separate each word for the address line, but this leaves me with many different length addresses spread out over different cells, so taking just the city state and zip is not feasible in large numbers. I have over 10,000 of these listed down column A1.
I need to be able to extract city, state, and zip, (There is no punctuation in the address line)and put them all in one cell, for the third line of the address box. I need them to cut from the source, also - leaving the source only the street address.
I have many cells that have full names in them. They are currently formatted as follows; last name, first name, middle name. I am trying to extract only the last name and first name (keeping the comma in between them) and drop the middle name.
I am using the extract words function outline here [url]
I copied and pasted the function into a new sub and deleted the sub module1 and the end sub to make sure it is it own function I can call. I have called it in another macro I wrote and when I run the macro it bugs out at the first if statement. The code it has a problem with the Get_Word code below. It throws a "Run-time error: '1004': unable to get the Find property of the WorksheetFunction class."...
I am trying to extract numbers after a specific text in a text, for eg :
abc SN 12345 xyz edf SN No. 456 mno
As per above, i want to extract any numbers afters "SN". the numbers can be vary in digits i.e. it can be 3 digit numbers or 4 or 6. Also, at times there is some other text in between (like SN No.) numbers and search word (i.e. SN)
If I have a cell filled with any number of given names (no surnames) (e.g. John Peter William Suffolk - yea, 4 names!, or Harry Murray (2)), how can I extract the first letter of each name (i.e., the first letter following a space) and place that in another cell? Say A1 has the names, B1 has the surname - I want this in C1. In D1 I'll use a function like Text or concatenate to link C1 and B1.
I need to fixed width-text to column macro and found a reply in the forum.
However, when I apply the macro, the result of zeros in front of figures disappear since the format of value in splitted column doesn't predefined as text
e.g. sample text to split to column: 000122042009ABCDEFG00567
Required result: 0001|22042009|ABCDEFG|00567
when running below macro; result shows: 1|22042009|ABCDEFG|567 (Beginning zeros figures of the first and last column disappear)
I can't use the "" sign as delimiter to separate them into different columns because the age, city, name and height fields are in random positions on different cells. The good thing is person's name will always come after "name" string, age is alwals followed by "age" string, so it cannot be like nameheight40Michigan180
I think the following would be the easiest method(not for me tho).If on B1 I had a formula that said "find the string "name" and write anything after it until you reach the next "" character".On C1 field I could have a formula "find the string "age" and write anything after it until you reach the next "" character. On D1 I would have the same for "height" string, then on E1 for city string.
My question is somewhat similar to this one Extract A String Between Two Characters
Formula which outputs the data between 3rd and 4th instances of the "_" character. Can we substitute "3rd and 4th" with a specific strings like "age" or "height" ?
I have a problems here. The problems is attached in the file. I wanna extract alpha/char from a string. Example: I wanna extract the words "(M)" with the bracket from the string "Toothbrush (M)" in column A. After extracting the (M) out, I wanna do a validation to compare the (M) in column B with another data in column C, if the (M) is same as the data called "Medium" in column c, the validation will return "Match" in the column d!
