Finding Cumulative Percentage In Pivot Table?
May 21, 2014
I have data of supplier spend and need to find percent of suppliers having top 80% spend.
How to get the cumulative spend within the pivot table itself. I can do it outside the table by calculations, but how to get the results directly using pivot table, because i am using that data in a KPI metric and a dashboard.
if not possible in pivot table, can i get it in a single step process using percentrank or percentile formula or anything else?

I have 2 columns in a Pivot Table. One called Sum of AD Total, the other called Sum of Total Cost.
I want to add a third field that displays the Sum of AD Total as a percentage of the Sum of Total Cost.
So I assumed I would use the "% Of" facility in the "Show data as" drop down, and "Total Cost" in the Base Field drop down. But what goes in the Base item field as whenever I try and put something in I get N/A returned as a result in my PT?
I'm attaching a very simplified version.

I have this example above which i want to know what is the total % change from Jan to Jun. In the total column, the result i got is 19% using formula
=1*(1+B6)*(1+C6)*(1+D6)*(1+E6)*(1+F6)*(1+G6)-1.
Is there any other more simplified or better formula that can be used actually?

Cells D 5 to D 36 are representing day 1 to day 31 of the month. clocked working hours of the employees will be entered to these cells. they are supposed to meet the target of 8 hours clocked at the end of each working day. that means on day 1 the target is 8 hours, day 2 it is 16 hours, day 3, it is 24 hours. i want to see the cumulative progress in ( percentage) on any give day. That means on each day the clocked hours should be compared with the actual cumulative target until that day.

why it works (but it obviously does). I crabbed off the sheet, modified it with my data and the percentages calculate reliably.
What I can't figure out is that in the Pct calculation in the table is the formula:
=GETPIVOTDATA("S_FCR",PT_1,"Center",[Center],"Date",MONTH([Date]))/GETPIVOTDATA("C_ID",PT_1,"Center",[Center],"Date",MONTH([Date]))^2
The formula itself makes perfect sense in terms of the numbers and filtering involved....but why does it actually work and what does the "^2" do?

In the attached Excel file, there is a pivot table.
In the Data part of the table, there are two columns. The second is the exact same field than the first one but expressed as percentage (Field settings/Options/Show field as "% of" + "Total".
The problem is: I don't want to express this field as a % of Total ('Grand total') but rather as a % of Subtotal (e.g. Danemark Total).

I'm having an issue getting the correct results from a calculated field in a pivot table in Excel 2007.
In column A I have "Business Name", in B I have a sum of the amount of lines a customer has, and C is a MAX of the number of employees the customer has at their location.
In one example I have a business with sum 50 lines and max 30 employees but when I try to make the calculated field 50/30 (should equal 166%) i get 9.2% instead.
The reason appears to be because there are 18 types of lines the customer has and 18 x max 30 = 540 and 50/540 is 9.2%. In the attached example it's all the same business location so the total number of employees (30) is the same for each row and each row in the raw data is a set of lines with similar features.
I attached an example. CalcFieldProblem.xlsx

I have a dataset in Excel 2007 where I need to determine the number of census tracts (as rows) it takes for each column of data values (populations of different ethnic groups) to reach a cumulative percentage of 50% of their City group total. This is a measure of concentration that will vary from group to group.
I can do this manually by sorting each column from largest population percentage to smallest population percentage, then shift-click selecting the first row, scrolling down until I see the sum of percentages shown in the bottom right corner first reaches 50.000% or more.
Is there a cell formula I can use to determine the number of rows it takes to meet the criteria? I have to do this for 250 columns.
Is there a cell formula I can use to determine the number of rows it takes for a column of data values to reach a specific amount, that is first reach a cumulative percentage of 50.000% of the column total? It must be based on the data values from largest to smallest but I don't want to have to manually sort each column I have.

On a worksheet, I created:
- a list of data
- a pivottable based on these data
When moving this worksheet this worksheet to another workbook, the pivot table can't refresh anymore. This throws an error message "Reference is not valid". To work around this problem I need to adapt the datasource. The same occurs if the list and the pivot table are on separate sheet, with the added strange behaviour that, when data an PT are split, it is not possible to move both sheet together.
This would not be a big issue if my problem had to be solved manually. The real problem is that I need to move the sheets from a C# program.

I have a little table:
Columns A:B (separated by commas)
Row 1- Year One, 20
Row 2- Year One, 20
Row 3- Year One, 10
Row 4- Year One, 30
Row 5- Year One, 20
Row 6- Year One, 20
Row 7- Year Two, 10
Row 8- Year Two, 20
Row 9- Year Two, 20
Row 10- Year Two, 10
Row 11- Year Two, 20
Row 12- Year Two, 40
In the adjacent cells in columns C (C1:C12) I need a formula that would turn the value into a percentage of the total of the values for that year (e.g. in C1: 20 is 16.7% of 120, so the value displayed would be 16.7% (or 0.167)).

I had the following:
0.000%
-2.140%
-1.729%
0.973%
1.206%
1.469%
[code]...
I want to know the lowest number from the peak high to the lowest low was? If I have not explained that properly, if I had 12.00% as the highest and the next few rows consistently, and gradually moved to a low of 8.00% that would be a difference of -4.00%. So -4.00% would be my answer. formula as I need to know this one number in a column of 4000+ percentages like you see above.

I have a worksheet with two pivot tables, one of which is visible to the user. Ideally, the user should be able to change the "Row Label" field settings of the visible pivot table and then press an "update button" that then adds the same field to the second pivot table.
Ideally, the ordering of the fields should also be made similar between the two tables, though this is of less priority.
I imagine it would be something in the style of:
"If number of Pivot1 active row label fields = X then
Pivot 2.AddRowLabelField = Pivot1.RowLabelField(X)
end if"

I want to calculate the percentages of November that has been paid from all of A that contains November in it in column C.
What formula i should use?
I already use =SUMPRODUCT for counting the November.
I only want to use 1 other column to calculate the percentage (C column)

If I simply publish the pivot chart, the correct percent values are displayed on the y-axis. However, when I publish it with the interactivty option, the percent values are wrong. For example, the actual value is supposed to be 13.7% but graph shows 46496000.00%. The other oddity is that the table published in interactive mode has the correct values.

i'm trying to crack what should surely be a simple problem. Attached is my spreadsheet.
As you can see I have 3 columns of detail, with totals spread over a number of months.
I want to be able to display the percentage of the Resource total for each other grouping.
For example, in my spreadsheet you can see resource Mick Arber at the top. I want to be able to see each of his rows as a percentage of HIS total.
