Formula To Show Current Grade Of Student

I would like to have a student's current overall grade be automatically calculated and displayed as I enter the test scores and extra credit points over the semester, first in percent and then in letter grade.

I have it set up so that the percent is calculated based on the total number of points likely to be obtainable at the end of the semester. But if they have only taken two tests and one extra credit assignment, it takes the total of those and divides it by the semester's total possible, instead of just the two tests and extra credit total possible. (ps: I do not know how many extra credit columns or number of possible points I will have this early in the semester)

Also, how then do I set up a formula to translate that percentage into a letter grade based on A=90-100, B=80-89, etc.?

Formula Show The Grade Average As The Year Progresses

I have a very basic Excel Gradesheet that's designed to simply record letter grades, and show the grade average as the year progresses. I've hit a snag with problem in the formula which shows a grade of "F" - when the grade range can only be that shown on the table (A+ to E-). I've attached the Excel sheet so you can see what I mean.

LOOKUP With AND Requirements (lookup A Particular Student's Grade In A Particular Assignment)

I'm making my own gradebook (attached) and one of my sheets will list scores for each student in different assignments. I have one sheet which keeps track of all students and all assignments with other info. I would like to program cells in one sheet (the third in the attached file) to lookup a particular student's grade in a particular assignment. I figured trying a LOOKUP with an AND requirement might work but it keeps returning the message "could not find value".

My formula references the student's name and the assignment from the identifying cells so that it is easy to copy and paste. I wondered if it was this which resulted in the error, but doubt it.

Conditional Formatting Formula - Student GPA

I have a grading system for university students, my spreadsheet looks like this:

Student Name Academic Calendar GPA Fall GPA Winter GPA Spring GPA Summer

I think I will need to do some conditional formatting to make it easy to fill the student GPAs .

I was thinking how to enter a formula to have the GPA winter appear as shaded when I enter "semester" in the Academic Calendar column.

Compare Actual Grade To Potential Grade And Highlight Cells

I am compiling a master spreadsheet to analyse progress of students. I have their potential grades in one column and their latest progress grade in another.

I would like an automatic look up of the potential to the progress grade so that if their current grade is BELOW their potential that gets highlighted one colour, if it is above, another colour.

One issue is that the grades are all letters (S, A, B, C, etc.) and that some potential grades are 'dual' (i.e. A/B, S/A) which complicates the issue somewhat.

my Excel teacher doesn't even know how to do this! The chapter is Working with Multiple Worksheets and Workbooks, and we went into linking workbooks, linking worksheets, using the VLOOKUP function, and saving workbooks as templates. This is Case Problem 2 and i'll attaching the file.

It says:

1. On the Grading Criteria worksheet, enter the text "Exam Average" in cell A1
and the text "Grade" in cell B1.

2. In the range A2:B6, create a lookup table for the range of grades specified by Professor Templeton. (Hint: Each letter grade should be matched up with the lowest score possible for that grade.)

Here are the specified grades:
0 to 49 = F
50 to 59 = D
60 to 74 = C
75 to 89 = B
90 to 100 = A

3. Insert a formula in Column E of each worksheet to calculate the overall score of each student based on the grade table you entered in the Grading Criteria worksheet.

I have a range of cells C11:C29,G12:G18,G20:G23,G25:G26,G28:G29,C33:C42,G33:G42,C46:C47,G46:G47,C51:C54,G51:G59,C58:C59 that contains letter grades (egs. A+,C- etc). I need the code for a macro that checks each cell from this range and if the value of the cell is A+ then the cell's value changes to 100, if the cell's value is A then change the cell's value to 98, if cell's value is B+ then change to 88 ...and so on...you get the idea (i will complete the rest of conditions but i just need the basic code).

Entering A Formula To Determine A Grade

I would like to prepare mid-term grades for my history class, and have three categories, which I would like to insert into a spreadsheet to calculate the grades, as follows:

Mid-term 1: 30%
Mid-term 2: 40%
essays: 30%

each of the three grades is a number from 1-100; the final answer will be a number which I can then convert to a letter grade.

I'm just not sure what function to use, in that last column, to get Excel to calculate the final answer/grade.

Let's just assume that Mid-term 1 is in column A; Mid-term 2 is in column B; and the essay grade is in column C. How can I create a function that will allow me to give the above percentages to the respective assignments, when calculating a grade?

Making A Grade Book--- Missing Assignments Formula

I have a decent working knowledge of excel, but I'm stuck... I teach and I have created an excel spread sheet to help me keep track of grades, attendance, etc.
I'm trying to figure out how to get excel to figure out the assignments a student has missing (cells with no data input), then take the assignment name (column title with missing data) and students name (first column of data) and put that information in another worksheet. Basically I would like excel to tell me what students are missing work and what assignments they are missing so I don't have to scroll through hundreds of lines of data whenever I have midterms or a student wants a list of "missing assignments". BTW---I can get it to list the number of assignments a student has missing, but not list the specific assignment titles.

I know theoretically this is possible, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it. Any help would be appreciated as it will save a lot of time and help out my students! If you can give me a "fake" formula, I should be able to update it for my purposes...

It is great and works fine unless you are working on another workbook and need to see those headers and tool bars. For example, if A1 = 6/2/2005, and I want B1 to equal that same month and day, but 2011... How can I do that?

I know =6/2/2005 + 365*6 would work, but the date in A1 will vary... so it has to be a way of showing ANY date with ANY year with the same month/day but current year.

Show Current Row Columns UserForm TextBox Controls

I have a spreadsheet that has a userform attached to it with text fields that enter additional data regarding each record. The userform takes these additional 5 fields and inserts them back into the spreadsheet, the final information to be exported back into Access. ( There are of course other ways to do this, but this is how my supervisor wants it done!)

My problem is that now that I can scroll through the spreadsheet without closing the userform, the userform doesnt show the current row's information as I scroll or change rows on the spreadsheet. It will only show the information that was in the row that it was on before i switched back to spreadsheet.

Textbox That Shows Current Record Number Or Listbox To Show All Records

I am looking for a text box code that works with a search userform.

Basically, I search using my userform find function and if there are more than one record found I want to be able to either:

1) have the records found appear in a listbox
0r
2) have the first record appear in the userform but a text box will show I am on 1 of X records and when I click a command button, go the next record, which will be 2 of x records and so on...

This is the code for the button that goes to the next record but I am unsure how to relate that a listbox or text box that shows the record number I am on out of the total that there are.

I would also be looking for another button that goes back one record. So i am hoping it's as easy as reversing the code for the next record function.

I am not sure if the listbox that could show all I records and one can just be selected is easier than showing the textbox with the " 1 of X records".

cannot seem to get a function that works.

I have a sheet named "Master" with student reference numbers (A2), student names (B2/C2) and their four subjects (D2, E2, F2, G2).

I need a separate sheet for each subject, so potentially 30 additional sheets, and i would like for where a subject is mentioned in one of the four columns of the master, the students reference and names would then be copied and pasted into a row on that subject specific sheet. Leaving the subject sheets with a list of names and numbers of the students studying.

So you would have a student on the master sheet and then they would appear on four additional subject sheets.

Ideally it would also update subject sheets as new students are added. And additional information is being added to the subjects sheets so they cannot be cleared.

Finding Current Month Total Sales Using Current Month To Date Sales In Formula / Macro?

Basically, I'm doing a recorded macro for work where I take an export and manipulate the data to show differences between sales from last year and this year. Also comparing this months projected sales to avg of last 6 months and also against last years this month.

The problem I'm running into is in automating the this month sales for mid-month exports. I can do it individually but I can't find a formula that will do it. Data is in one cell per month, so ex. 130 sales this month so far. I need to have it convert that to projected sales for total month based on what day it currently is.

I need to go to the CAMPUS LOCATION spreadsheet and first search for Johns student ID (450) in column B. Because John is listed in B2,B3 and B4 excel needs to check date in Column E to see if his completion date was before the Date he started at Campus.

If it is then the Campus he was at will be the value of Column D on that line.

If it is not then it needs to search the next line until it satisfies the condition.

I am trying to figure how to show in one pivot table a current column and a proposed column. I have 15k rows of data. My data columns are employee, month, task, hours, proposed month. I can get a table that has months as columns and tasks as rows with sum of hours. What I would like to do is incorporate the proposed month, so that it shows hours in the months by current and proposed. That way my result would be January current, January proposed columns etc. I can change the propsed months by formulae so I want to play with the proposed task month the refresh the pivot table to see the results.

If I enter 12/2, in one of the rows in column A it will display today dates in cell B1 since today is 12/2, but when tomorrows comes, since there is not a 12/3 date in column A, B1 cell will be empty, but when 12/4 comes, cell B1 will show 12/4 since that is a 12/4 date

Current And Last YTD Formula

I am creating a formula that can give me current YTD & the same for Last YTD based on the selected reporting month and product ID.

In the file attached you can see in summary sheet that when I ever I choose the reporting month I got the sales for current month, last month, same month of previous year based on the product type, I use sumifs formula to get those data from the sheet called data. Now I failed to come up with a formula to get me the current YTD & last YTD sales based on product ID, If I say that I choose reporting month March 2013, I want excel to calculate for me the sum of Jan,Feb,Mar 2013 sales and also to give me the same but for year 2012 for each product ID, the data will be taken from the sheet name "Data".

What I want to do is make all of the "12" entries equal to the current row value. In other words "C12" should be "Cx" where x is equal to the current row.

a while back one of you gave me an awesome formula that pulls data from sheet 2 based on what was typed in A1 and A2 on sheet 1. Well I ran into a snag, is there a way we can add a 3rd match in the formula. See the attached file. I need to pull data from sheet 2 based on what is typed on sheet 1 in cell A1, A2 and A3.

Enter Current Workbook Name In Formula

I have the formula:

=HYPERLINK("[Book1.xlsm]'Sheet1!A1","To Reachback")

I may however change the name of Book1, therefore rendering the hyperlink formula useless. Is there a way to enter something in place of Book1 that will return the current name of the workbook?

If there isn't, I will have to create a VBA program to update the hyperlinks, and will therefore have additional questions about that shortly.
