Need to do this using formulas and without needing to add any new columns.
Need a formula to lookup the details sheet (for easyness i just added it as a new tab here) and count the unique names in a dept and display that in the summary sheet/tab.
Want the formula to be applied to the summary to go and lookup/count from the other sheet.
Have shown the expected results in the col "total unique heads".
I have a column with names and I would like to count how many names there are in this columns. This is easy but in fact if there is twice the same name the formula will count it twice and I don't want that. Is there a solution to count only the number of persons present in this column without counting twice the same person??
Main Main Main Second Second Last Last Last Last Last
The quantity and text of these labels in the list will always change so they will not fall in the same order
What I want to do is in A1 return the first unique name (Main) then in A2 return the second unique name (Second) and so on until the list ends. I can't perform any kind of filter as I require the value to perform part of a concatenated text
is there a way to get the unique entries from a list with out blanks using only one formula?
currently i use
=if(countif(a$1:a1,a1)=1,a1,"")
to get unique entries
and

This question pertains to the solution offered by Dave Hawley in the following post: Sum Unique Values That Exist In Another Column. The original question relates to summing certain values in a column based on unique values in an adjacent column. I have tried the solution on my own, and it works quite well, however, I just can't understand how the "criteria" in column C functions.
ID XXX 1 100 2 200 1 100 3 500 4 600 2 200 -------------------- Total 1400
Assume your 2 columns are A & B and you wish to SUM column B where any unique value exists in the same row but Column A. Add headings to A1 & B1. In C1 Enter the text Criteria. In C2 Enter this formula =OR(COUNTIF($A$2:$A$100,A2)=1,COUNTIF($A2:$A$100,A2)>1). In any cell Enter =DSUM($A$1:$B$100,B1,$C$1:$C$2)
I would like a formula that will give me the unique list of items in Col A but will give them to me in alphabetical order. Sample list of data and desired result below.

I have two lists and I would like a formula which only returns unique values - similar to an advanced formula. Is this possible?
In the attached example my data is in columns C and D and I would like a formula in column E if possible. I need it to ignore the capitals. E.g. BLACKBURN and Blackburn appears in each list but I would only want one instance pulled through in column E.
I need to find a way to convert the fraction located at the beginning of a text string to decimals. Here is an example of what the cell containing the fraction will look like; 1/4-20 3A. I need to convert the fraction and save/copy paste the decimal answer to another cell.
I am seeking to pull names from a list on one worksheet in to particular cells on another worksheet using each name only once. I need a function or series of them that can accomplish this. I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of months with no luck as I always get into some form of circular reference....
How would I set up a formula that can search for a unique identifier if the unique identifier is not know.
I would like to set up this formula in Tab 1 where it looks to column A in Tab 2, which is a column of about 600 unique identifiers, to find any cells containing the string "VA". There will be multiple cells that include "VA" in the string
I would like this formula to collect all the cells in the column A in Tab 2 into a column of cells in Tab 1 beginning in Cell A5. I would copy the formula in Cell A5 of Tab 1 down multiple lines. I can add a segment to the formula that will return a blank if there are no more cells with the indicated string included.
Tab 1 formula begins in Cell A5Tab 2 of Unique IdentifiersFormula that will copy first cell in Tab 2 that includes VA in the string from Tab 2VANewsprint23005-2119Formula that will copy next cell in Tab 2 that includes VA in the string from Tab 2TNPackaging37309etcALPackaging35044etcVAPackaging24526-0040etcONPackagingP0K 1E0NHPackaging03743VAPackaging24521NYPackaging13667MIPackaging49099VA Packaging24426ONPackagingM1P2Y9ONPackagingM1P 2Y9WIPackaging53512-0386MIPackaging49042VAPackaging24504
I have the following macro (as part of a much bigger set of code that adds some formulas to to cells to return the total number of unique values. The problem is, this part of the macro takes over 10 minutes to run. Is there a quicker way of doing this or am I going to have to just wait it out each time.
The columns B and/or H is a formula. Column W is an string value.
FYI the last row it is counting to is between 4000 and 30000 lines in each of the formulas
Code: Dim IRMatRow As Integer Dim IRMisRow As Integer Dim UKMatRow As Integer Dim UKMisRow As Integer IRMatRow = Worksheets("Matching Stats").Cells(Rows.Count, "H").End(xlUp).Row
I have a query from an access DB that I pull into an excel sheet automatically every 15mins. Column G contains a list of 6 digit customer reference numbers and column C contains a list of the users that have modified records for that customer.
I use a summary sheet to count the number of customers a user has modified records for in that day. The trouble I am having is counting unique records using the COUNTIFS function. In my database if a user changes a record and hits save 10 times that will create 10 records. I only want to count this as 1. I am using the following formula but it doesn't seem to like the 2nd range and criteria in the countifs bit.
=SUM(IF(COUNTIFS('Daily Loss Data'!G2:G1500,'Daily Loss Data'!G2:G1500,'Daily Loss Data'!C2:C1500,"John Smith*") =0, "", 1/COUNTIFS('Daily Loss Data'!G2:G1500,'Daily Loss Data'!G2:G1500,'Daily Loss Data'!C2:C1500,"John Smith*")))
Daily Loss Data Sheet Notes: Column C = user, Column G = Customer Ref.
I am using an IF statement because my range changes after each query refresh so contains zero's that I obviously do not want to count.
I have a very large table in Sheet 1, in the following range A10:1:3068.
Column C has the company name, and there are multiple instances of the same company name in this column.
(Columns E to I are part of a pivot table and I have various formulas in A thru D).
In column A I have a value indicating whether the company has 'exposure' (an internal meaning for our sales team). If the company has exposure, then the word exposure is indicated otherwise the cell is blank.
What I need to do is in Sheet 2, create a table that extracts a unique list of company names from column C only where it has the word 'Exposure' next to it in column A.
I would like this to be dynamic so if I change a value in the pivot table in sheet 1 the values in the table in sheet 2 will update accordingly.
I am figuring this is an index and match or perhaps a countifs.
I need to count how many unique ID numbers there are per month.I have figured out how to count the unique ID's for the first month (Jan) but after that I'm having trouble trying to get the count right for Feb and Mar. Formula I used in cell E2 is: {=SUM(IF($A$2:$A$14
Col A contains SS#'s and Col B contains names. Quite often there are duplicates and sometimes triplicates because they may be sending payments for multiple providers. We charge one fee per client (unique SS#), regardless of the number of times they may be on the spreadsheet.
I can get a grand total by summing the unique items by using this formula:
and then doing a CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to put brackets around it so it will "take."
However I now need to show the fee by each unique name. Right now I am inserting Col C, typing in 3.00 into C2 and copying on down, but then have to manually remove the amounts in the rows which contain duplicate ss#. Long painful process. How can I put a formula in Col c so that it will only show fee one time by the first unique ss#?
I need to count the unique items in a range that don't contain the string "option". I would like not to use VBA for that but I can't make it work with a simple formula.
For now, I have :
[Code] ......
That doesn't count the cell with the content "option" and count correctly the other unique items. However I need to ignore any cell that contains the string "option" (with wildcards).
I'm holding a Reverse Auction where people pay a dollar to place a bid, BUT the twist is they are giving me a number that they how will be the lowest number but it has to be the only occurrence of that number (greater than 0).
During the party people can guess as much as they want to pay. I think i'll use a spreadsheet with their names in column A and go out in the row with however many cells for how many numbers they guess (so there would be blank cells in the overall range of the whole list if one guy buys 10 numbers and another only 1, for example).
So, i need a cell at the bottom that tells me the lowest number that wasn't guessed more than one time.
I've found how to FIND duplicates and the lowest number but i don't know how to write it so that it discards the duplicates.
2.) ... Column H <>"" and Column I <>"expired" and <>"" and Column I >=A1 and <=A2
3.) ... Column H <>"" and Column I ="expired" and Column H+120 >=A1 and <=A2
4.) ... Column H <>"" and Column I >=A1 and <=A2 and Column J =""
A1 - user defined (start) Date 1 A2 - user defined (end) Date 2 Column B - 6 digit number (or blank) Column H - Date 3 (or blank) Column I - Date 4 (or "expired" or blank) Column J - Date 5 (or blank)
I have an issues with a formulae I have written to measure two factors;
A; How many different countries appear within a certain date range. B; What countries are they.
I tried a unique list, but could not get it to work within a range? I dont particuarly care how the data is pulled through as long as I do it. At the moment I have become stuck in 'Unique Ranges' and have n given up?
The formulae issue is in the tab "Problem_Formulae", the dat in the sheet 1, and the date ranges in sheet 2. Also, just to make life a bit more challenging pivot tables are a no go .
I have a file with a column containing a series of records where a reference number can be repeated several times. I want to create a formula that will count the number of unique reference numbers in the column.
However - and this is the tricky part - I need it to allow for when the report is filtered, i.e. something like a SUBTOTAL function which ignores the hidden values.
So, the column in the full report has 691 unique values across 2,200+ records. If I apply a filter the column only has say 78 unique values. Is there a formula that can calculate this?
