Display Progress Of Macro Procedure & Interrupt Code
Feb 26, 2008I have a program that screen scrapes data fom a mainframe emulation program. There are many loops used in order to slow the program down checking for things to load before taking the information. I would like to build some kind of display showing the user what the program is doing and allow them to stop the program if they like. Right now while the program is running everything is frozen and unresponsive.

Macro - Procedure Too Large
Oct 15, 2008I am using following event macro and it repeats itself more than 300 times. I am at a stage where I am getting a message "Compile Error, Procedure too large", I tried to break it into two but that's not working.

Jun 26, 2008When I run the following code, if "If exists = True" then I want the routine to start again at the very beginning. Currently, 'as is' it re-starts at the beginning but enters a loop on itself; I understand why this is but it's not what I want but can't get round this! How do I make the "If exists = True" condition (if true) restart the routine - ie call AllNEWActions() without then going into a loop on itself? NB: I can't use "Exit Sub" (see it commented out) as I don't want to exit routine, just restart it.

Compile Error Procedure Too Large When Trying To Run Macro
May 29, 2013I am running into a Procedure too large error when running my macro. My macro is designed to replace a cell value with another cell value in a list. When the cell value is replaced a vlookup brings in new data to my workboook. Then the macro refreshes all the pivot tables and saves the workbork. I want my macro to repeat the above 60 times, so I have copied the code 60 times and changed the ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 to point to the next value in my list. (Is there another way to select the next value from the list without changing the Row and Column number?) This is where my macro fails.

Run Macro Procedure Based On Drop-Down Item Selected
May 27, 2009I am trying to accomplish is to display a dropdown or combobox with a list of choices. I want the backcolor to be shaded light green to match instructional text that appears in the cell above. That I have working with the selections appearing. Once a choice is made I want a separate procedure to run that will somehow know which choice was made.
I can't put the code within the module for this particular sheet as it is dynamically recreated each time the data is refreshed and the code will disappear. This may seem to be an odd practice but this is how 25+ workbooks are coded within this system for my employer's customer and it is a required practice.

May 3, 2007I've created a form and would like to use a macro to transfer the form information details (form) from an intermediate worksheet (database intermediate) to the main database worksheet (database).
So far I've only been able to record a simple macro that will do just that. However, when I click on my assigned macro again, the information is washed away and the new form details have replaced it. Been trying to use the x1down coding to make it such that each new data goes onto the subsequent line? But I can't seem to get it right without getting an error message.

Feb 24, 2012I have a simple macro that copies data from worksheet to another. I only want this macro to be run once per day by the user. One of the cells that gets copied is the value found in the formula "=today()". My thought is that the macro could look for the existance of the current date in the pasted data (meaning the macro has already been run once today), and if the date = today, then a message pops up warning the user that the macro has already been run once today, and ask if they're sure they want to continue.
Any easy way to accomplish what I'm attempting to do? The current date gets pasted into a worksheet name "PriorDay" in cell C5.

Create Macro Code With VBA Code
Feb 22, 2008I'm trying to add buttons to an excel spreadsheet at runtime. Each row in the spreadsheet should have its own buttons. I was able to create and edit them with the ActiveSheet. OLEObjects.Add() function, but after that, when i was trying to create code dynamically to react on the buttons' click events excel crashes (actually it works for one button, but not if my routine for adding a new button and event code is called more than once in a row!)
The code below works if the AddCmdbuttonWithCode() is called once, but crashes if it is called two or more times. Excel tries to restore the document after the crash and the first button and its corresponding click event code is visible and works... but NOT the second button and its event code...
The only way I can create multiple buttons right now is by calling my method once per click, opening the vba editor, changing the parameters for my AddCmdbuttonWithCode() routine and execute it again. After that I have mutliple buttons in different lines which all work fine (so the concept seems to work).
The problem seems to be the insertLine method, since everything seems to work if i leave it out (except for the code generation of course, since this is done by this part of the code :-) ). Is it possible that calling the insertLine Method can't be called multiple times? I don't know... any ideas? Feel free to test my code - it's small, easy to understand and has comments.

The first few macros dealing with page setup and what not work fine but when it hits the Pivot table code for the STATSPIVOT macro it errors out stating: "Run-time error '1004': Unable to get the PivotItems property of PivotField class' at this point in the code:
