How To Enable User Interaction While Speak Command Is Running
May 22, 2014
I have a cell (B1) in the second Sheet. It contains two sentences of text, which will be spoken when entering that Sheet (by a click in the previous Sheet).
When the Speak command is running no other user interaction can be made. As the text is quite long not all the users want to wait until it is finished. So I need the users to be able to click on the "Next" button which takes them to the next Sheet (and start speaking the text there).
I have created a multi utility user form that user can initialize by a shortcut key. The problem if user want to see the content on sheet or want to change the active cell, he has to close the form and then do any action. This form is initialized by a command and default included in excel as a Add-in. Is there is any way to make the form floating i.e. user can manipulate the data and can see the form as well.
Is there a way to use MsgBox without any necessary user interaction to continue on with the macro? For example, I want to occasionally display a MsgBox for a few seconds containing relevant data and then have it disappear and the macro continue on without the user having to click the OK button, etc.
I have a situation where I have an msg box pop up that asks the user to identify whether or not the file they have chosen meets the standards needed to continue running the macro. Specifically, I need them to answer "Yes" if the file has a list of data in the first column, if there are no blanks in that list and if the first row of data begins on Row 4. If they answer yes, the macro continues ahead and does what it needs to. If the person selects "no," another input box pops up that asks the user to make the edits. This msg box asks the user to click "ok" when they have made those edits. I want the macro to pause after the person has selected "no" from the first msg box, so that the person can make those corrections. Then, I want the macro to resume when the user selects "OK" on the second msg box. How might I do this? I have included the piece of my code below.
strresponse2 = MsgBox("Please confirm that the file you have selected meets the following standards:" & vbNewLine & "1. The information in the first column of this file is all of the job titles or job codes associated with this profile." & vbNewLine & "2. From the first job code or title to the last, there are no blank rows in this first column of data." & vbNewLine & "3. The first job title or code appears on Row 4, Column 1." & vbNewLine & "If the file you selected meets these standards, select Yes. If the file you selected does not meet these requirements, select No.", vbYesNo, "Yes/No") If strresponse = 6 Then Call getjobtitle End If If strresponse = 7 Then 'pause macro strresponse2 = MsgBox("Please make the necessary edits to this file. When you are done, select OK to continue generating your job profile.", vbOKOnly, "OK") If strresponse = 0 Then 'resume macro Call getjobtitle End If End If
I am trying to enable a command button on opening the Workbook, However it dosent work. I have placed the command button on the worksheet. Programatically it gets disabled on clicking it once. So i want it to be reactivated on reopening the Workbook.
I have a fairly straightforward UserForm with 4 listboxes and 4 option textboxes (the textboxes do not need to be a part of the validation I'm needing). I then have a command button that I want to be enabled ONLY if ANY of the 4 Listboxes have a selection. I've tried the "Change" event code below and it works upon the first selection of any listbox item.
However, if the user de-selects all selections in the listboxes (i.e. they are all unchecked), the command button remains enabled. I need the validation logic to enable/disable the button to persist as long as the user has the form open and if there is not a selection in ANY of the listboxes. The reason being is that if they click the command button it will update the cells in the worksheet, which if empty may overwrite previous work completed with blank cells.
I have a User Form which i want to use in such a way that editing the worksheet directly is not disabled while the userform is running. I would also like to use the right button mouse menu(cut, cpy, paste) while i am using the user form. I am using two Monitors with my PC and i want to work with User Form on one monitor being able to edit worksheet without having to close my User Form.
I have a couple spreadsheet Excel 2003 that I have to Email, I use a few macros with these spreadsheets. The Macros are kept in my personal workbook. When I Email these sheets does the end user see the warning enable macros or do they just see the sheet as is. I am mailing the whole workbook but macros are in my personal workbook. If they see the warning is it possible for me to Email so they will not have to contend with that?
I have Excel file that is linked to Access Database. Everytime the user opens the file, there is pop up message that warns the user we there to enable the macro or to disable it. I want to force the user to enable the macro or even better if I can make disappear this warning and automatically enable the macro. See attached for more details.
I need a macro that simply allows me to open the filter criteria dialog to "contains," then stops, so I can enter the value to be filtered. Macro recorder does not allow me to stop recording at the point the "contains" dialog appears.
I wrote a macro that worked for a long time but now a running time error (9) popped out even though the code didn't change at all. If I run the same macro on the same computer but logged on as a different user it runs smoothly. Tried it in other computers and in some of them it will also run in only some of the users but not all.
I'm running Excel 2003 on windows XP, on a pentium 4 PC but found the same in othe computers running Vista.
When I click the debug button the highlighted line is Workbooks("Detrend").Activate close to the end of the following code.
I'm using a UserForm to inform the user that the program is still running. Unfortunately, when I do: UserForm1.Show the program hangs there until I hit the Ok button. How can I make the program run as the box is shown.
I have a user form that builds a workbook from one template sheet and information in a SQL Server database. The template sheet contains 4 charts that are copied to every new sheet in the workbook, then their data ranges are set through VBA code. For a while the code was working wonderfully. All the necessary sheets were being generated and correctly populated.
Yesterday I added a new module to generate another sheet and pull data from the same SQL Server tables. Now if I run the userform it will work fine once and create all the needed sheets, and set all the charts to the proper ranges. However, if I delete all the created sheets and run the form again, I get:
Runtime Error '-2147417848 (80010108)'
Automation Error The Object Invoked has disconnected from its clients
The error consistantly occurs for the following line of Selection.Copy Destination:=Worksheets("Master").Range("D1")
After the error the selected range still shows up as surrounded by a selection box, but if I change sheets, the box moves to the new sheet. Also I cannot select any new cells in the work book. In order to get Excel to work again I have to End Task from the Task Manager just to get it to close. When I restart Excel and go back to my work book I get the same results, i.e. The form works great once, then Excel dies.
I have tried qualifing all of the objects that can be qualified. I have tried setting all possible varriables to Nothing before exiting my macros. Nothing I have tried, or found suggested so far in the forum works.
Is it possible to have a user form command button perform link or steps that are recorded with macro recorder? I am trying to reformat cut and paste a xls raw data file. I am trying to keep my file uploads to a min., but can upload an example if necessary.
I'm having a problem creating a Reset All command button that will remove user entered unlocked cell values from an entire workbook save for one specific worksheet. So for example, I have five tabs labeled as "DTF", "Week 1", "Week 2", "Week 3" and "Week 4". I want one single command button (placed in the "DTF" worksheet) to remove all of the unlocked cell values from "Week 1" to "Week 4".
