How To Determine If AutoFilter Is Turned On When Open A Sheet

Jul 10, 2014

How do I determine if AutoFilter is turned on when I open a sheet? I tried FilterMode with no luck.

HTML Code:

Sub macro2()
Dim t As Boolean
s = ActiveWorkbook.Name
t = Worksheets("SO_PO_14").FilterMode
End Sub

The FilterMode call always return False,

Dragging Formulas On Same Sheet (automatic Calculations Turned On)

Dec 10, 2012

I have a huge spreadsheet requiring me to manually enter alot of fields with formulas. I am using the formula

=COUNTIFS('A1'!C10:F11,Statistics!K5)+(COUNTIFS('A2'!C10:F11,Statistics!K5))+(COUNTIFS('A3'!C10:F11,Statistics!K5))

The full formula is quite long as this pick up the data off over 300 work sheets. (there's probably an easier way to do this aswell) When I copy or drag this to another cell with on the same worksheet it gives me the correct formular with the correct cells changes as I want. However this formular does not work. I have auto calculate on and I manually press enter on the cells and still nothing. If I change the following for the entire formula (about 8min to do each cell) it works

=COUNTIFS('A1'!C10:F11,Statistics!K5)+(COUNTIFS('A2'!C10:F11,Statistics!K5))+(COUNTIFS('A3'!C10:F11,Statistics!K5))

Is there an easier alternative then manually changing each number?

Determine If Value Found In Autofilter

Dec 24, 2007

I have worksheet that is used as entry log. In this log I have a month column that the month number is entered into based on the month of the entry. I have vba code that filter on this month column and copies the visible results to another worksheet for just the month that is filtered. The problem I am having is that if the month I am filtering on is not found it is pasting the information from the previous search. I am guessing there are two ways to solve this problem:

1. I need code that in the form of an ElseIf statement where the if the value of the autofilter's criteria isn't found then do something

2. I need code that clears the clipboard of copied data after it pastes the data so that when the first occurance of a value not being found occurs nothing is pasted.

I'm totally uncertain as to how either of these codes should be written.

VBA To Determine If Workbook Is Open

Nov 29, 2013

I cannot cut and paste from my working computer to the internet access computer.

This code is intended to check for a workbook already open and if it contains a particular worksheet. This function is called from a routine that reads a master workbook then opens a PCM workbook. The PCM workbook might already be open.

WB_PCM is declared as a workbook and the name is set. WS_PARAMETERS is declared as a string and its name is set to an existing worksheet. The workbook and worksheet do exist, but are not open.

This is the call to the function:

Code:
WS_exists = Is_Workbook_Open( WB_PCM, WS_PARAMETERS_NAME )

And that code is

Code:
Public Function Is_Workbook_Open( workbook_ref As Workbook, sheet_name As String) as Boolean
Dim check_sheet as Worksheet
On Error Resume Next
If( workbook_ref Is Nothing ) Then
Is_Workbook_Open = False
Else
Set check_sheet = workbook_ref.Worksheets( sheet_name ) ' < error

[code].....

During this time the master workbook is open but either not in focus or is minimized within the Excel windows. If I select that worksheet and select a cell in it, then this code runs. What should I do different to get this code to check for WB_PCM being open and being able to handle it when either open or not open.

Determine If Workbook Open

Jan 1, 2008

I was wondering how i can code a if then loop to determine if a workbook by the name i specify is opened.

If Windows(vCriteria & "ISPR.XLS"). = True Then
MsgBox "true", vbCritical, "Ferguson Enterprises, Inc."
Else
MsgBox "false", vbCritical, "Ferguson Enterprises, Inc."
End If

thats what i got.... not sure if that will work... i'm missing the definition for: If Windows(vCriteria & "ISPR.XLS"). i keep wanting to type isopened, but alas it is not avaliable in the list. There seems to be no extention avaliable that appears to work with such a function. Is it possible to do what i am trying to do?

VBA To Determine Filenames Of Open Workbooks

Sep 2, 2009

I have a userform which prompts a user to select two files from the directory. Once these two files are open I will extract data from one into the other, the only problem is these filenames will change and I need to be able to determine what their names are.

I have this code below:

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
FiletoOpen = Application.GetOpenFilename _
(Title:="Please choose a file", _
FileFilter:="Excel Files *.xls (*.xls),")

If FiletoOpen = False Then
MsgBox "No file specified."
Exit Sub
Else
Filename1 = FiletoOpen
TextBox1.Value = Filename1
End If

End Sub

If I could somehow extract the exact filename, not full path, from the variables Filename1 and Filename2 I would be fine I guess, I just don't know how to do that.

Determine If Shared Workbook Open

Apr 6, 2008

Split from Macro To Insert Rows In Protected Worksheet. I have found this code wgich appears to be very close to what i want. Just to re-iterate -

A) i want to detect if any other user has the shared book open, if yes-display msg and exit - it seems to do this by just adding an appropriate msg box

B) if no - open it and lock other users out by temporarily remving share or allowing them in but as read only - not sure if it does that.

Also not sure if it works for a shared file - cannot test as i do not have access to shared network from location.

Function IsFileOpened(StrFilePath As String) As Integer
Dim FileNum As Integer
'First check filepath exists
If Len(Dir(StrFilePath)) > 0 Then
FileNum = FreeFile()
On Error Resume Next
Open StrFilePath For Input Lock Read As #FileNum ' Open file and lock it.
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
IsFileOpened = 1 'File open
Else
IsFileOpened = 0 'File Closed
End If
Close FileNum
Else
IsFileOpened = 2 'File not found
End If
End Function

Function/Formula To Determine If Workbook Open

May 16, 2008

how do you set a return value for a function in VBA? I've looked at examples of functions and I don't understand.

All I want to do is call a function to see if a workbook is open and have it return true or false. Here is the code I have, but it won't let me use go "Return isOpen" at the end like VB would! The IDE complains.

Function IsWorkBookOpen(ByVal name As String) As Boolean
Dim wBook As Workbook
Dim isOpen As Boolean

wBook = Workbooks(name)

If wBook Is Nothing Then
isOpen = False
Else
isOpen = True
End If

'I can't reutrn the value of is open?
Return isOpen

End Function

I've noticed other VBA functions I've looked at don't use "Return"....how does does the function return a value then?

In my "MAIN" Sheet. Column A starts at 12th row and contains ONLY Strings. I would like to Autofilter Column A for every unique String (criteria) in Column A (from 12th row to 1000th row). Copy the thus filtered (i.e. visible) cells from (ONLY) column C (for every criteria). Paste the copied cells to a new sheet, starting from A4 of the new sheet. Give the name of the Criteria as the name for the new sheet. Come back to "MAIN" sheet and show a pop up "Sorted".

If I exit and re-enter it works until I filter. Scroll lock does nothing.

AutoFilter And Add Row To Existing Sheet

Feb 3, 2014

I have 6 working tabs in my workbook (1-10, 2-8, 1-67, 3-16, 2STB, 204th). Each of these sheet has the same number of columns. The first row is a header and the last row in each sheet is used to calculate subtotals and contains no other data. Each row of data is essentially an order that contains an ID number, information on the equipment being ordered, and information on the customer, remarks, and some other tracking information. Each worksheet contains a Column called "Gaining BDE" (Column E). These "Gaining BDEs" are essentially a way of labeling a group of customers. What I need a macro to do is create and maintain a sheet for each of these "Gaining BDEs".

I need excel to look at each of my 6 working tabs and when it sees 1ABCT, for example, copy that entire row of data into a tab called 1ABCT. As I add rows to my 6 working sheets as orders accrue, I would like excel to automatically place a copy of that row in the appropriate sheet. I have a few other sheets in my workbook that I do not want excel to search for data within as they simply serve as references for my VLOOKUP functions. I would also like the cells to be linked so that when I change the Remarks column to reflect "Complete" for example, that change is reflected in these newly created sheets. I have tried working with other peoples copy/paste row VBA code but have not had any luck and I am brand new to VBA so I have a tough time understanding it still.

I'm having some trouble getting my workbook uploaded but a view of what one of my sheets looks like can be seen here: [URL] ........

Protected Sheet & Allow Use Of Autofilter

Dec 20, 2007

I've locked certain columns on my worksheet so that users cannot overtype target dates etc. I've password protected the worksheet.

The password protection means that for some reason the users can't use the autofilters that are on the header row.

Can someone help me solve this problem; I still need the locked cells and password protection on the sheet but the success of the sheet depends on users being able to filter for specific rows using the autofilter....

Determine Sheet Names Starting With X Specific Characters

Jun 12, 2008

I have a worksheet that will have tabs added as time goes by and a macro within the workbook currently selects all of the sheets and copies and pastes formulas within all of the sheets simultaneously. Right now, if a tab is added, the macro needs to be updated to select that specific tab name as well.

I would like to simply have the macro select all of the sheets starting with "IL" until the sheet before "reference", or all sheets except the first 3 and the last 2 if that is easier. Any ideas? And thank you for your help, you people really amaze me sometimes!

Autofilter Will Not Always Select Entire Sheet

Sep 4, 2009

I have a workbook that uses Autofilter.
Column A has data. Column B is hidden, has no data, and is empty.
Colmn C has data, on through the rest of the sheet (to Column AB).

Why column B has no data is unimportant for now. It, however, must maintain its existance and cannot be deleted.

When I select the autofilter sort button on column A, it selects only that column, and not the rest of the sheet. Data is subsequently scrambled.

When I unhide the empty column B and select the sort button on column B, it selects the entire sheet. Data remains intact.

When I select the sort button on column C, it selects the rest of the sheet, but not column A (with data), or B (with no data). Data is subsequently scrambled.

Copy Row From Autofilter & Paste To Another Sheet

Jul 6, 2007

I have 2 sheets. The first sheet contains rows of data that I wish to search (Query Results) through and find matching data. The second sheet is the source of the data I want to find (Notifications). I want to take the number located in column A on sheet 2 and then use it to auto filter the rows on sheet 1. With the range that is left visible on sheet 1 I want to select the first row (can offset(1,0) to remove the headers, and paste the selected row back in to Sheet 2 ontop of the row where I sourced the original number to filter by.

Once the item is pasted I then want to pick up the next number from Sheet2 to repeat the process until all numbers have been processed in Sheet2. I have been going round the block on this for the past few days!

Sheets("Query Results").Select
With ActiveSheet.AutoFilter.Range
On Error Resume Next
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=vFroID
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=15, Criteria1:=vReqData
Set rng2 = .Offset(1, 0).Resize(.Rows.Count - 1, 1).SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible)
On Error Goto 0
End With
vDestRow = "A" & vLoopCount
If rng2 Is Nothing Then
MsgBox "No data to copy"
Else
Set rng = ActiveSheet.AutoFilter.Range
rng.Offset(1, 0).Resize(rng.Rows.Count - 1).Copy _
Destination:=Worksheets("Proposed Notifications").Range(vDestRow)
End If

.EnableAutoFilter = True

Auto-Refresh AutoFilter With Sheet Protection On

Nov 23, 2008

I found one of your old VBA entries that allowed me to automatically refresh an autofilter function, and it works great.... with protection off.

As soon as I protect the sheet so users can't enter data into the pages showing the autofiltered data, the autofilter kicks off.

i have set the protection to allow autofiltering, so it's something that is preventing the macro (for automatically updating/refreshing the autofilter).

I'd love to either fix the macro to "autorefresh autofilter" with protection on, or just enter another code that will disable all functionality on the worksheet. (workbook is set up with multiple sheets, first sheet is for all data entry, subsequent sheets are filtered data-trying to make them viewable only).
